Chapter 11
Greetings readers! I hope all of you are enjoying this story. The pairing may be ready by the next few chapters, but unfortunately, I don't plan to develop the pairing in this story. I will hint at it, but I'll stop and let the next stories take over for that. I'm doing this because I want this story to be entirely about only the beginning of Percy's journey.
I'd like to thank ShadowThanatos for his set of raving reviews. I read your profile and you're right, reviews really do make my day. As a writer, it tells me that people are enjoying my story. For a moment, I was overwhelmed with the support you gave. I am happy that you are enjoying this story. Thank you for your support!
In reference to Adamcoyne's review, I will try to incorporate your suggestions. Thank you for your continued support!
Coming to SpartanBoi's review, I have long detailed sagas lined up for both pairings and I like both of them equally, so I am dilly dallying to convince myself. But I will assure you, even if this becomes a Percy X Athena, it will not be a cliché. I totally understand your concern, I initially liked Percy X Artemis pairing, but it eventually got way too repetitive. There are only a few different ones. Again, I'm not taking a jab at anyone. Thank you for your continued support!
Addressing GrizzlyBearFearmonger's review, this story won't be a Percy X Artemis, I feel it's going to take away the novel setting of this story. Also, I am strictly against one person in a relationship with two people, regardless of gender. Still, I would like to thank you for your support!
All credit for the characters goes exclusively to Rick Riordan.
Amphitrite had not expected Percy to master atmokinesis in only four years. She had expected that he would take five years, but that was Percy. He always outdid himself at every opportunity that was presented to him.
Presently, Poseidon had covered the entire Royal Arena in an air bubble and she was staring in awe at a sixteen year old Percy in the eye of his personal hurricane. Not even once did the arm of the hurricane cross the circle she had marked around him and what was even more impressive was that Percy had kept this up for about half an hour. She could see that he was tired and that the hurricane would collapse anytime now. She was proven right when the hurricane dissipated and Percy promptly fell to his knees, covered in sweat.
"Thirty two minutes and seventeen seconds. Not bad little brother." Triton stated with a smirk.
"Son, you have completely mastered the summoning of your atmokinetic abilities with restraint and finesse. I am proud of you." Amphitrite stated with a wide smile.
"You and Triton are my only children to have mastered atmokinesis. In one week, we will start with the final phase of your elemental training- geokinesis." Poseidon proudly declared. Percy was ready for being trained in the most dangerous of his abilities.
(One week later)
Percy was anxious. He had searched all the books in the Royal Atlantean library and there had never been any child of Poseidon except Triton, to wield the earthshaking abilities of their father. Even if someone had had the power in the past, there was no mention of them. Also, his father's staunch position on not giving him any insight into his geokinetic abilities had only fed the fear that he did not possesses any geokinetic abilities. So while he waited for the arrival of his father, Percy was nervously playing around with a blob of water to calm his nerves.
As soon as he entered the arena, Poseidon noticed Percy's anxious restlessness. "Hello son. Before we start, I assume that you want to know why I never told you anything about your geokinetic abilities?" he took Percy's eager nod as a yes and continued "I will tell you the most fundamental reason. Unlike the sea, earthquakes have no good side. They have only one purpose, seek and destroy. The sea can be as kind as it is destructive, you can heal with your hydrokinesis, you can alleviate droughts and bring rain with your atmokinesis. But, you can only reduce everything to rubble with your geokinesis. There is no positive spectrum to it. There is only one advantage to your earthshaking capabilities, they are not as volatile as your hydrokinetic or atmokinetic abilities, so the chances of you unleashing a devastating earthquake when angered are slim. But, you will need even more restraint while wielding them as if you ever lose control completely, there will only be carnage." Poseidon let Percy absorb this bit of information.
"For that reason, I always placed a seal which prevented all my demigod children from harnessing this ability. The books will tell you that the most dangerous ability of a child of mine is their atmokinesis. They cannot be more wrong, once you become an earthshaker, you can bring entire cities to ruin, you can redraw maps, you are the destroyer. Your earthquakes will not differentiate between friend and foe. They will strike down anybody or anything that stands in their way. You can only control their magnitude and direction before you release them. But once you release them, there is no stopping them. Have I made myself clear?" Poseidon firmly finished. Percy rapidly nodded his head. He could now see the reasoning behind his father's actions. If a child of Poseidon lost themselves to rage or grief, the consequences could be disastrous.
"Now that we have settled that, let us start with the basics of geokinesis." Poseidon stated with a small smile.
"The main point of difference between our geokinesis and Hades' and his offsprings' is that we cannot control the earth, at least not directly. Rather, we have the ability to create very large shockwaves that propagate through the Earth as earthquakes. These tremors destroy everything in their path until they are completely devoid of any energy for further propagation. You can generate these earthquakes by striking the Earth with your fists, but channeling them using weapons is a more controlled and efficient way. When you are eighteen years old, I shall request the Elder Cyclopes to forge for you the greatest weapons since the creation my trident, Zeus' bolt and Hades' helm. But you will have to master the control of the magnitude and direction of these earthquakes with your fists before we move on to channeling them through weapons. I have to warn you, these powers are to be used only as a trump card. They are much more destructive and are also more energy consuming than your other abilities." Poseidon explained the way he intended to proceed with Percy's geokinesis training and it's drawbacks.
"Now, I want you to place a hand on the floor and try concentrating on causing a small tremor. Keep a calm mind and do this, I don't want you to level the entire palace." Poseidon instructed and humorously quipped.
Percy nodded and did as his father instructed and his brows narrowed in concentration at the effort.
Training Percy in geokinesis would be easier, due to him having Amphitrite's blessing and by extension, some of her natural restraint, chances of a dangerous mishap were low, for that reason, Poseidon had not placed any seal on his geokinetic abilities. Nevertheless, Poseidon attentively observed Percy and was ready to intervene if things went south. Fortunately, Percy produced a small tremor, just as instructed and a wide grin bloomed across Poseidon's face.
(One year later)
Chiron was proud. In the fifteen years it had been since he had arrived to Atlantis, he had extensively trained Percy in the sword and spear. He had even tried to teach Percy archery, but that had not gone well. So instead, Percy had taken his archery lessons and had applied it to javelins.
Percy had faced the problem of javelins being too large to effectively incorporate archery techniques into them, but, Percy had overcome this problem by shortening the length and the size of the javelins he used for throwing. Combined with Percy's almost divine physical strength and endurance, he could throw the javelins at two thirds the rate in which Chiron fired arrows and with twice the impact. This ingenious invention had attracted the attention of Triton and the brothers constantly came up with new techniques and designs which were between an arrow and a javelin.
He had also taught Percy a myriad of healing techniques with only Ambrosia, Nectar and a combination of both. Apart from that, he had also taught him geography, literature and mathematics. He had even taught Percy to effectively manipulate the mist to shroud his aura and alter perceptions. All in all, it had been a satisfying journey. He had watched the transformation of the curious and innocent toddler to a kind and strong seventeen year old. This was undoubtedly the proudest achievement of his millennia old life.
Today was his last day of training Percy, after which he would have to report Percy's prowess to the Olympians in the annual Winter Solstice meeting. The Olympians would not be disappointed. Percy was at a power level he would narrowly lose to Triton and Triton himself was as strong as the younger Olympians. Chiron's musings were interrupted by the arrival of Percy.
"Good morning Chiron. What do we train in today? Or are there any final tests for me?" Percy asked him.
"No Percy, there is nothing left to test. You have dutifully mastered everything I have taught you. In fact, you have even surpassed all my expectations by a considerable margin." Chiron proudly stated.
"So no training today?" Percy asked with his eyebrows raised.
"Yes Percy, there will not be any training today. However, I do have one last thing left to impart." Chiron calmly declared. He continued at the curious look in Percy's eyes "Percy, every person, mortal or immortal has a fatal flaw. These fatal flaws are responsible for the harsh lives of demigods and sometimes, even immortals. However demigods are the worst affected, their fatal flaw eventually alters their personality in a way such that they end up causing their own misfortune. The Moirai are impartial. All three of them, weave the strings of mortals and immortals and they eagerly snip the thread of mortals when mortals fall prey to their own fatal flaws." Chiron wearily stated.
"Percy, your fatal flaw is personal loyalty. It is a great trait if it is moderated, but the problem arises when it spirals out of control. You will do anything to save your loved ones. Sometimes even at the stake your own life for theirs. You are also prone to losing yourself in an apocalyptic rage if something bad happens to your loved ones. You have the trait of excessively blaming yourself. Your strong sense of responsibility is a wonderful thing, but that does not mean that the weight of the world falls only on your shoulders." Chiron wisely advised. Percy carefully listened to what Chiron said. This could one day prevent him from taking the wrong turn that all the heroes prior to him had taken.
"Your namesake Perseus was the only one to escape the claws of his fatal flaw. He lived a long and peaceful life unlike Cadmus or Bellerophon. That was because he reined in his fatal flaw of ambition. He was ambitious, but that never dominated his personality. The Moirai cannot force an unseen fate upon you if you control your fatal flaw Percy. They may be unbiased and impartial, but they certainly aren't cruel." Chiron stated.
"There will come a day when your fatal flaw will try to take hold of you. It will succeed Percy, you cannot stop it, it has the inevitability of Moros behind it. But you should never let your fatal flaw permanently change you. If you let your fatal flaw take over forever, you will be no different from the monsters you fight. So promise me that you will not let your fatal flaw turn you into a permanent antithesis of who you are. " Chiron desperately pleaded with Percy. He had seen far too many heroes die due to the their own fatal flaws. He was determined to prevent the jaws of fate from closing in on Percy.
"I swear on the River Styx Chiron. I will never let my fatal flaw permanently consume me." Percy unfalteringly promised. A low rumble was heard in the distance, confirming the oath.
"Percy you are better than the best of both worlds. Your power, physical attributes and invulnerability make you an almost indomitable foe. But, the small part of you that is, and which will always remain mortal, will always give you the humility required to not let your power fill your head with pride. Pride is the downfall of both mortals and immortals, if you want to prevent your fatal flaw from taking over, never let your gargantuan power and strength corrupt you with ego. Never underestimate any opponent and never hold back, show restraint only to prevent collateral damage, not for the pleasure of humiliating your opponent. Most of all, don't toy around your opponents, fate will play a cruel game on you if you do that." Chiron gave him one last warning. Percy nodded his head with a determined glint. He would follow Chiron's instructions to the letter.
"Thank you for everything you have taught me Chiron. You have taught me not only to be the perfect warrior but to also be a good man. You are the best mentor I could have asked for." Percy sincerely thanked.
"My dear boy, it has been my pleasure. Teaching you and watching you blossom into the fine young man you have become has given me far more joy than anything else that I have ever done. You bring honour to my name by being my pupil." Chiron emotionally replied with glistening eyes. Immediately, Percy hugged Chiron and Chiron happily hugged him back.
Unbeknownst to the two of them, a certain Sea God was secretly observing this interaction with a smile. In the past fifteen years, Chiron had dedicated every day for the sole purpose of making Percy a better person. He had done as ordered and had made Percy a master in a plethora of arts and weaponry. But, along with Amphitrite, he had also taught Percy the importance of being a good man over being a good soldier or a good Prince.
Poseidon stepped into the arena once the heartwarming moment was over. Percy smiled at him while Chiron respectfully nodded at him. Poseidon had long ago tried to dismiss any formalities with Chiron, but the stubborn centaur wouldn't listen with him.
"I believe the Olympian Council is anxiously waiting for you Chiron. Let us not make them wait any longer." Poseidon commented.
"I will take my leave Percy. Always remember what I advised you and never forget who you are. Goodbye." Chiron bid Percy goodbye and nodded at Poseidon. Instantly, the two of them vanished from the Royal Arena in a blue mist.
Hades was curious. It had been fifteen years since he had met mini Barnacle Beard and Chiron was due to share the prowess of his pupil in today's Winter Solstice meeting. Hades wondered how strong the little brat may have gotten. It seemed like his answers would be answered soon as Poseidon materialised in the centre of the Olympian throne room and with him was Chiron. All the chattering ceased the moment they materialised and Chiron fell to a deep bow while Poseidon proceeded to sit down on his throne.
"Rise Chiron." Zeus commanded. Chiron acquiesced and stood straight.
"As all of you know, the main purpose behind inviting Chiron to this meeting is to understand the prowess of Poseidon's son." Zeus loudly declared and signaled for Chiron to start. Chiron nodded and started explaining his training, Percy's mastery in a variety of weapons, his heritage, power, physical attributes and finally he explained Percy's invulnerability. Once Chiron finished, no one talked for a moment, the final revelation leaving all of them speechless.
"You never told me that he was invulnerable." Zeus quietly said, his statement directed at Poseidon.
Poseidon snorted at this statement. "Sure Zeus, I would have loved to put my son in danger be feeding your paranoia." Poseidon sarcastically replied. Zeus did not react. He knew Poseidon was right, but, that did not mean he wanted to openly accept it.
"Seriously Chiron, you outdid yourself this time." Apollo commented.
"What about his elemental powers?" Hermes asked.
"He is already as good as Triton in his hydrokinetic and atmokinetic abilities. His training in geokinesis started only a year ago but he is a natural at it." Poseidon proudly stated.
"I like him already. I want to fight him once he becomes partially immortal." Ares declared his intentions with a broad smirk. He expected Poseidon to oppose this idea, but he was shocked to see the lopsided grin on Poseidon's face.
"You are welcome to try Ares. His fighting prowess has gotten to a point where only me and Triton can fight him. Once he becomes partially immortal and gains the special weapons I will have forged for him, only you, your Olympian siblings and Triton will be able to fight him on equal footing in an all out fight. Of course, my siblings aren't included in this list." Poseidon confidently boasted.
"Are you saying that I won't be able to defeat him? However strong he may be, he is just a mortal with enhanced attributes and longevity." Artemis asked in an offended tone.
"Niece, you are an extremely powerful individual. There is no doubt in that. But my son is invulnerable. No attack can pierce his skin. His physical durability is so high that he once took a point blank thrust from Triton's trident and came out with only a big bruise to show. I do not mean to demean you niece, but even I do not have the means to pierce his skin." Poseidon explained.
"Incredible. Now that Chiron has trained him, what are your future plans?" Demeter asked.
"I have invited Bythos and Aphros to teach him in Atlantis for three years. After that, he will be trained in Camp Fish-Blood for two years. Besides, he still needs to master geokinesis. According to Styx, he will probably become partially immortal when he is twenty one years old. So, he will be prepared to deal with any threat by the time he is twenty two years old." Poseidon shared his insight.
"That is great news. Hermes and Artemis have scouted a few areas and it seems that the monsters are gathering. According to my estimates, the Earth Mother will be ready with her entire forces in around five or six years and he can swoop in and destroy these monsters." Athena suggested.
"I am afraid that is not all." Hestia interrupted. She continued as all eyes turned to her "Mother has been in touch with a few of our aunts and with day. She has conveyed some worrying information. A new brood of immortals have been born to oppose the gods. They call themselves the Gigantes and they are the children of the Earth Mother and the Pit." Hestia solemnly finished.
"Are they like the Titans?" Hera nervously asked.
"I do not know sister. Mother has told me only this much and I suspect that even she does not know more than this. We will have to face these Gigantes in order to know more about them." Hestia deduced.
"Hermes, once this meeting is over, I want you to inform Helios and Selene to report any suspicious activity. After that, I want you to summon Aeolus and the four winds. We need to ensure aerial superiority." Zeus addressed Hermes who nodded at him.
"Also, if Helios and Selene report signs of new immortals, I want Hermes, Ares, Athena, Apollo and Artemis to track them down. If you confirm that they are the Gigantes, kill them. But don't do it alone and don't put yourself in danger if they are stronger than you. Send a distress signal to your siblings and me. Have I made myself clear?" Zeus commanded. All the younger Olympians nodded at him.
"Brothers, have all of your forces been mobilised?" Zeus questioned Poseidon and Hades.
"My domain will not come under threat Zeus. Triton and the Mermen generals have gathered all the Atlantean forces and are poised to repel any attack." Poseidon casually replied.
"I have fortified and placed guards at all times to watch the entrances to the pit. I have enough armies to defend the Underworld." Hades revealed his war plans.
Zeus nodded at his brothers and then turned his attention to his wife and sisters. "Wife, sisters. Talk to the minor Gods and make sure that their loyalty is towards us and let me know if there is any dissent. Also, talk to Pan and ask him to mobilise the nature spirits." They nodded at him.
"Hephaestus, I want you to make sure that all our divine weaponry is stocked and ready for use." Zeus addressed the forge God who tilted his head in agreement.
"Ares, I have one final task for you. Sound the war horn. Olympus is going to war." Zeus fiercely declared. He would not underestimate the Earth Mother. He would hit her with all his strength and force her back into slumber.
(One Year Later)
Percy groaned as he squatted for the hundredth time with two large circular slabs of rock connected by a thin metal rod balanced on his arms.
"Good job Prince Perseus. Your weapons and armour are to be commissioned today, so you have the rest of the day off." Bythos replied with a small smirk before strutting away.
Percy hated Bythos' physical training with a passion. The icthyocentaur was a real slave driver. While Chiron had focused on honing his mental discipline, Bythos focused on building his physical attributes. Bythos had set a very strict regime of bodyweight exercises with weights and made him run ten laps of the huge Royal Arena everyday. Even while training in swords and other weaponry, he had weights tied to him. But, it would be foolish to deny the positive effects of Bythos' training.
Bythos had been quick to identify that Percy's natural defense made him capable of protecting a much riskier offense. Chiron had taught him to evade all attacks irrespective of the power behind them. But, the constant evasion had hindered him from pressing on advantages. Bythos had taught him to selectively evade and either block stronger attacks with his sword or just take weaker attacks head on for a surprise offensive counter.
Unfortunately, there was drawback to this relentless offense. His one sword was not enough to block all close range attacks that were meant to be blocked rather than evaded and wielding a shield would be a waste of mobility. He had read the books for an alternative and when he had read that Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt wields two long hunting knives to make the most of her agility, he had adopted that principle, but instead of two hunting knives he used two swords instead. He had requested Bythos to train him to fight with two swords and the ichthyocentaur had gladly complied.
It was a match made in heaven. While mastering this style would take a few more years, he was proficient enough to sometimes force even Triton on the defensive. His thoughts were broken by the arrival of his father.
"Hello Percy. I assume you know what weapons you want Arges, Brontes and Steropes to build for you?" Poseidon asked his son.
"Yes father. I have the plans. Can we go meet them now?" Percy impatiently replied. Poseidon chuckled at his son's impatience and in a blue mist, both of them teleported out of the Arena.
Percy greeted the three Elder Cyclopes as soon as he materialised in the forges "Greetings Arges, Brontes, Steropes."
"Greetings to you too, Prince Perseus." Arges greeted while his brothers smiled at the Prince and tilted their heads in respect at the arrival of Poseidon.
"As all three of you know, now that Percy is eighteen years old, in accordance to Atlantean tradition, we need to commission a set of weapons and armour of the best quality for him. You forged the greatest weapons in existence along with Triton's trident and armour. I would be honoured if you would do the same thing for Percy." Poseidon requested.
"The honour is ours Lord Poseidon. This position of importance that the House Of Poseidon has awarded us is what prevents us from fading after the birth of Hephaestus. We shall make an armour and weapons that will be remembered for ages." Brontes declared in determination. Poseidon nodded in gratitude before vanishing from the forges, Percy would take care of the rest.
"So Prince Perseus, what do you want us to forge?" Steropes asked Percy. He liked the young prince. He was a regular visitor to the forges and had often came up with fantastic new designs. But the thing that set him apart was the genuine respect he showed Steropes and his brothers, much like the rest of his family, he did not let their physical appearance come in the way of friendship. He had even learnt the basics of forging along with the merits and demerits of different enchanted metals from them.
"Ever since all of you taught me the basics of enhanced metals, I have had this novel idea of a weapon made from an alloy of Celestial Bronze and Stygian Iron. The Stygian Iron will make it indestructible and it will absorb the essence of monsters. While, the Celestial Bronze will make it highly receptive towards divine enchantments and will make it lighter." Percy discussed his idea.
"It is an excellent theory Prince Perseus. But that is all it can be."Arges silently and immediately disagreed.
"Arges is right. Enchanted metals cannot be alloyed without causing a disastrous explosion. A very long time ago, we had attempted to combine these two metals, we had even acquired all the required materials, smelted both the metals and had cast the alloy into a sword. But right after we quenched it, the sword exploded and killed all the other cyclopes present in the forge." Brontes recounted with a far away look in his eyes.
"Why?" Percy asked.
"Stygian Iron does not bind with any other metal, divine or mortal. Any attempt to alloy it will result in a similar incident." Steropes explained.
"What if it is quenched in my blood? I am the grandson and the firstborn equivalent of Lady Styx. Since the Stygian Iron is quenched in the River Styx, my blood may force it to bind." Percy boldly put forward his proposition.
"First of all Prince Perseus, you are invulnerable. Upon that, even if we do quench it in your blood, there is no guarantee that it will work." Arges argued.
"Leave the first thing to me. Do you have the materials?" Percy dismissed his concerns and asked, Brontes hesitantly nodded.
"Alright, gather the materials and dismiss everyone else from the forge. In the meanwhile, I shall procur my blood. How much of it will you require?" Percy enquired.
" Prince Perseus please reconsider this decision. If you still are obstinate, then probably half a pint would suffice." Steropes unsurely guessed. Percy nodded and drew his sword. His grandmother had taught him to temporarily remove his invulnerability, just in case he received a lethal attack and had to be treated. This was the perfect opportunity for using that knowledge.
Meanwhile, Arges and Brontes gathered the materials while Steropes dismissed all the other cyclopes from the forges. Once it was only the four of them, Percy addressed them "What you are about to see is highly confidential. I need all of you to swear on the River Styx to not reveal anything about how this sword was forged or reveal that my invulnerability can be lifted." The three of them nodded and simultaneously swore to abide by the terms.
Once that was done, Percy took a nearby bronze cup, closed his eyes and a black mist enveloped his arm. Once the mist subsided, he cut a long gash along his arm. He winced a little at the unknown and slightly painful sensation. After his red, glowing blood had filled the cup, Percy handed the cup to Steropes, took out a small square of ambrosia and ate it. Immediately the wound healed and a black mist covered his arm once again, signaling that his invulnerability had been restored. The three of them nodded at him as they set to work.
(A few hours later)
Arges nervously removed the cast of a blade and Brontes mimicked his actions with another blade. Steropes had filled two rectangular holders with Percy's blood and the two of them reheated the blades in the nearby forge before gently dipping the blades in the holders after they had become red hot. They held the blades there for a few minutes, allowing them to cool down to hardness. The whole time, Percy was watching in anticipation.
The Elder Cyclopes were anxious. It was at this stage that everything had gone awry the previous time. But surprisingly , this time the blades did not explode and when Arges and Brontes pulled the blades out of the blood, everyone in the room let out the breath that they didn't know they were holding in.
The identical pair of swords in Arges' and Brontes' hands were the most beautiful ones that Percy had ever laid his eyes on. Both of them were three feet long and pitch black with a bronze line in the centre and the swords had bronze edges. However, the most distinguishing trait, was that the blades radiated pure power.
"They are magnificent." Percy spoke with awe.
"Indeed Prince Perseus. This is our most unique creation." Arges confirmed.
"So do you know what special capabilities these swords have?" Percy excitedly questioned.
"These swords have a multitude of special capabilities. They will let you summon water even in places where there is no water, much like the weapons of the rest of your family. Since they are quenched in your blood, only you will be able to effectively wield them, anyone else who tries will either be consumed by the raw power if they are mortal or will run out of energy very fast if they are immortal as the blades will excessively draw power from you and will amplify all your elemental attacks. They can be enchanted to a very large extent due to the Celestial Bronze in them and will rip out and absorb the essence of monsters you kill due to the Stygian Iron. However, the strongest monsters will not be permanently destroyed, they will eventually reform. The difference is that if they are slain from your swords, it will take them a lot longer to reform." Brontes temporarily paused to let Percy absorb this bit of information, before continuing.
"They are also very light, so your speed and mobility will not be compromised. At the same time, they are indestructible, much like your father and your uncles' symbols of power. They will have the strength of broadswords in any attacks despite their light weight. They will also not chip, flake or rust, regardless of whatever punishment they are put through. Finally, they will always return back to you." Brontes explained in detail the jaw dropping qualities of the swords.
"I sincerely thank all three of you. I shall honour your effort to the best of my capability." Percy determinedly promised.
"We know you will Prince Perseus. We wouldn't have built a weapon of this caliber for anyone else, apart from your family members. Now why don't you go back to the Royal Palace and take some rest. By tomorrow morning, we will make some minor adjustments to the handles of the swords and will also forge an armour, a spear, a trident and a set of short javelins whose designs you have provided. They shall be made with the finest quality of Celestial Bronze." Steropes declared with a proud smile. Percy returned his smile with a wide one of his own before heading out of the forges.
The Elder Cyclopes immediately got to work with the intent to forge the best set of armour and weapons for Percy. After all, the invulnerable Son of the Sea deserved nothing less than the best.
Hey guys! Now I know there might be some confusion about the importance I have given to the forging of a pair of swords. But, I didn't want to just give Percy a super powerful weapon without any background. In my opinion, that does not do the weapon any justice.
I originally wanted to conclude Percy's training arc in this chapter, but I had this spur of the moment idea about a sword made by a Celestial Bronze and Stygian Iron alloy. I also wanted to include an earlier reference of Percy being able to temporarily lift his invulnerability.
Let me also clear something else. Percy won't just waltz in, beat all the gods and walk out. Once he becomes partially immortal, Percy will win in a fight with the younger Olympians, but not because of his raw power or physical attributes. While he can approximately match the younger Olympians in those attributes, they aren't enough to beat them. He will win due to his invulnerability. He will eventually be able to fight the Big Three, but that's a long way down the line.
Read and review, I hope all of you enjoyed this chapter. Have a great day!
