Chapter 6 – Fairy Tail
Kazuki and Rei were so distracted by each-other that they had hardly noticed that a week had already passed. Rei was surprised that Kazuki was fully recovered and had been smiling a lot more often, what really surprised her was how affectionate he was all the time now, he would not stop hugging nor kissing her, not that she was complaining, she didn't want this to stop either, she loved his clingy side. Unfortunately, they had to make their way to Fairy Tail, they were about to leave immediately so the guild wouldn't get worried and Kazuki could actually join.
"Rei, are you ready? We're going to miss the train." Kazuki was standing by the door patiently, all his stuff had been stored into his personal time/space. The couple had thought it best for Kazuki to move in with Rei, they had already been living together for a week and the journey from Fairy Tail to here was hours long.
"Yup! I'm all set!" She shouted enthusiastically, the brightest of grins on her face, she was super pumped to return to the guild and show off her boyfriend to them. She couldn't wait to see the look on Laxus' face, the brute would without a doubt try to intimidate Kazuki only to get his ass handed to him.
"Okay then let's go." Kazuki held her hand as they both left the 'house of gloom'. Truth be told, it no longer looked gloomy in the slightest, it was now a bright towering mansion fit for a king, a building perfect for the town of Ariel.
"Okay so do you remember who to be careful of?" Rei inquired, everyone in the guild was super friendly, but the boys, especially Natsu could get very 'fired up' to throw down at the drop of a hat.
"Natsu is going to be the first to want to fight, Gray will follow up by telling Natsu to shut up only to end up somehow joining the brawl, and then 1 by 1 the rest will get dragged into the fight."
"Good, now who are the rest?"
"Gajeel, Elfman, and Romeo."
"2 for 2 so far, tell me the rest."
"When things go too far, Erza and Jellal will chime in and knock everyone out and make some speech about welcoming a new member. Are they really going to assume I'm joining without me even saying anything?"
"Erza will, even if you weren't planning to join, you wouldn't be able to leave the Guild Hall without becoming the member. As for Jellal, well if he doesn't support Erza she'll get overdramatic and go on a cake eating spree."
"How did Jellal even hook up with Titania?"
"They've always had a thing for each-other, or so that's what I've heard. Anyway, what's the last thing you have to worry about?"
"Cana."
"And?"
"Guildarts. Look I get why I have to be cautious around Mr. Clumsy but why his daughter? I've seen her one time back when Fairy Tail came back from the dead from Tenrou Island ages ago. And she doesn't seem like any trouble, she might even be a great drinking partner."
"Cana has a habit of… Flirting."
"Didn't you say she's dating someone?"
"Yeah, she's with Bacchus, he's Quatro Cerberus' best wizard."
"So why the flirting then?"
"It's her way of pissing Bacchus off. Wait, Mr. Clumsy? You've met Guildarts?"
"Yeah, I was having a rough day trying to locate a dark guild, I ran into him whilst following a lead." A vein popped from Kazuki's forehead, which Rei noticed.
"Didn't go well?"
"I was about to use his own Crash Magic to shatter his spinal cord and use it as a drumstick on his eyeballs."
"Yikes, what did he do to piss you off so much?"
"He was apparently low on cash, so he tried to sell me some of his porn magazines."
"Wow wait until I tell Cana. You didn't buy them, did you?"
"Of course I didn't. I burnt them all to ash and walked away as he laid on the ground crying." Kazuki was smiling to himself in nostalgia as he took a slip of his water.
"You'd think Fairy Tail's strongest would be better composed then that huh?" Rei looked at him, she knew exactly how Kazuki was going to react and she didn't wanna miss it.
"He's WHAT?!" Kazuki spit his water our and turned to face Rei, "That idiot is the guild's strongest?"
Rei nodded her head, "Mhmm. Not for long though." She smiled at him and put her arms around his as they continued walking to the train station ahead of them.
"Remember it's a secret, only you know."
"Yes don't worry, I won't tell. But I don't get why you're keeping your true strength a secret."
"Come on, you're an S-Class Wizard, surely you know how it's like when people know how strong you are, they never stop challenging you."
"I guess being in Fairy Tail makes you forget that."
"I'm worried they might not like me, after they find out we're together."
"Don't worry, you already know Jellal and master Makarov, Erza will love having you around. Trust me, you'll fit right in."
"Why will Erza like being around me?"
"Well actually she will be indifferent, I however, can't wait until you meet Erza."
"You're not planning anything are you?"
"Nope. It's just that, Erza bosses everyone around and they just listen to her, the only ones she doesn't boss are, of course, Jellal and the Master."
"What about Laxus and Guildarts?"
"She tries to yell at them, but Guildarts is too busy fighting Natsu or brooding over Cana to pay attention, as for Laxus, he never really cares."
"You still haven't explained why you want me to meet Erza so bad."
"That's a secret." She winked at him and Kazuki sighed in defeat, her cute wink is all he was going to get from this topic.
"Fine. But at least give me a clue."
"Let's just say, she's going to get a taste of her own medicine."
"Are you holding a grudge?"
"Maybe." Rei answered with a teasing tone as they approached the Train Station. "Let's get on, 3 hours train ride to Magnolia."
"You mean 3 hours of you sleeping on me."
"We can sleep together, if you play your cards right." She gave him a seductive wink, causing Kazuki's face to go beet red.
"Stop saying stuff like that." He covered his face with his hand and turned his head away, 'She's too bold'. The couple got on the train and sat down, Kazuki sat next to the window and lifted his arm, Rei sat down next to him and let his arm wrap around her, and she wrapped hers around him and let out a silent yawn. "Wake me up when we're there." She said quietly as she dozed off.
3 Hours went by in a flash as the train arrived in Magnolia. Kazuki woke Rei up and the pair got off the train and walked to Fairy Tail.
"Here we are finally, Fairy Tail." Rei announced as they had reached the entrance of the Guild hall. "You ready?"
"I'm a bit nervous to be honest." He answered honestly, he was slightly shaking, this was more nerve-wracking then he would have ever expected. Rei held his hand and squeezed it tightly.
"How about now?"
"Better." He squeezed her hand back and they entered the Guild.
"I'M BACK EVERYONE!" Rei shouted at the top of her lungs, grabbing the attention of everyone. She was immediately bombarded with questions as to what took her so long and who was the person, she was holding hands with.
"Calm down you guys. We had an accident with bane particles, it's all fine now."
"Bane particles? How could you be fine?" came from a tall buffed up man with blonde spikey hair and a lightning shaped scar on his left eye. He was looking very concerned, this was Rei's half-brother, Laxus the Lightning-Dragon Slayer.
"I wasn't affected by them, he inhaled them all, just like you did ages ago."
"HE DID WHAT?!" Laxus shouted on the top of his lungs, causing Kazuki to flinch.
"Oi, don't shout." Rei looked at him angrily.
Laxus observed Kazuki and went to put his hand on his shoulder, a big mistake on Laxus' part. The instant his hand touched Kazuki's shoulder, Laxus was on the ground, his back shattering through the wooden flow. Half the guild was staring at Kazuki whilst the other half were processing what had just transpired.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to do that." Kazuki bowed down and hoped Laxus wouldn't get too mad.
"That's one hell of a reflex, you're stronger then you look."
"He's much stronger then you know, it's been a long time Prince." A short old man approached Kazuki, he had no hair and a thick white goatee, he was as short as a rooster.
"Prince? Hang on, Rei, is he royalty?" Asked a crimson haired woman wearing armour, this was Erza Scarlet, commonly known as Titania – Queen of the fairies.
"No, that's his saint name." The short old man responded.
"Makarov."
"Prince."
"What brings you to Fairy Tail?"
"I want to join this guild."
"You want to join a guild?" Makarov was shocked, the famous Crimson Prince, known for being the elusive dark guild hunter, wanted to join a guild, not just any guild, he wanted to join Fairy Tail?
"Yes. Is that a problem?"
"Listen child, I am overjoyed you want to be apart of the guild, however, as much as it pains me to say, I cannot allow you to join."
"What? Why? You are Jura literally never shut up about wanting me to join one."
"You're notorious for hunting Dark Guilds, the underworld is in disarray thanks to you, letting you join would put the guild in danger."
"Are you kidding me? You realise that Fiore is a lot safer because of me."
"You're a Wizard Saint, your acts of cruelty towards others is unforgivable."
"Cruelty? What the hell do you mean?" Kazuki was getting angry, all he wanted was to be close to Rei, but Makarov was getting in the way.
"You kill every member of the guild unfortunate enough to be targeted by you. Has there been a single guild member whose members haven't been mercilessly slaughtered by you?"
"Those scumbags don't deserve to live, are you actually defending them?!" A murderous aura had surrounded Kazuki, Rei squeezed his hand in an attempt to calm him down, her efforts were for naught though as Makarov began channelling magic power. Kazuki powered up as well, causing the whole of Magnolia to shake. 2 Wizard Saints were about to clash, catastrophe was imminent.
"What gives you the right to decide?"
"No one, has a better right then me."
"I will not let you go around killing whoever as you please."
"Are you threatening me?"
"Yes. Your cruelty ends here." Makarov was surrounded by blinding light, he was about to blast Kazuki with light magic, however he hesitated as Rei was still next to him. Kazuki's left arm burst into flames and a magic circle appeared on his left hand.
"Searing Heat." He blurted out and lifted his hand pointing at Makarov, deadly orange flames shot out of his hand on towards Makarov, the guild master had no time to react, he was going to be burnt alive in an instant. All of a sudden, Rei turned herself into green lightning and jumped in the way, taking the attack, and falling on the ground writhing in agony. Kazuki's aura instantly disappeared as he realised what just happened, he rushed over to her side immediately and began to heal her burns with his regeneration.
"Rei wake up! Please wake up, don't leave me! Rei!" He shook a few times and the rest of the guild just watched in shock, it was almost impossible to believe that he was just about to kill the master, and now he was desperately trying to heal Rei. Just who exactly was he in relation to Rei?
Rei opened her eyes and caressed Kazuki's face. "I'm not going anywhere dummy." Kazuki sighed as relief took over his body, he hugged Rei tightly and she returned his embrace.
"Will someone explain what the hell is happening here?" Asked a man with long black hair extending to his back, iron piercings on his face and arms. This was Blacksteel, better known as Gajeel Redfox the Iron-Dragon Slayer.
"Yeah! Gramps, who the hell is this guy?" Asked a pink haired man with a white scaled scarf and open black vest. This was Salamander, also known as Natsu Dragneel, the Fire-Dragon Slayer.
"Wendy, can you heal Rei?" Asked Erza facing a young woman with blue hair extending to her shoulders, this was the Sky Maiden, better known as Wendy Marvell, the Sky-Dragon Slayer.
"I can, but there's no need. He already healed her; all her burns are gone. His healing magic is interesting, I wonder if there's a toll."
"Prince we-" Makarov tried to speak but was interrupted by Kazuki.
"I'm sorry. I lost my temper." Kazuki couldn't look Makarov in the eyes, he was disgusted with himself, he had almost killed Rei. He didn't deserve to be anywhere near her, let alone with her.
"Let's talk in private, Jura is waiting outside behind the guild."
"For the love of God, why is he here?"
"He needs to discuss something with you, he was going to visit you in your home but then he heard that you were spotted on your way to Magnolia."
"Alright fine. Let's go."
"Rei, you should stay behind."
"No way!" Rei shouted back, "I'm not leaving his side."
"Rei, who is he to you?" Erza asked her.
"My boyfriend." Rei smiled at her, the entire guild went silent as most of the members fell on their backs. They could never have prepared for that answer.
"Fine, you can come, let's go." Makarov led the way to the backyard of the guild.
"I heard quite the ruckus, it's good to see you, Prince." A tall bold headed man greeted Kazuki. This was Iron-Rock Jura. The 4th highest ranked Wizard Saint, and an fellow Emperor of Ishgar.
"Piss off." Kazuki replied plainly.
"You say that every time we meet."
"Then take the hint."
"I enjoy your whimsical responses, but that is not why I'm here today."
"Why are you here?"
"The Blood Spirals."
Kazuki perked up at the name Jura has just said, his entire body was trembling as he suffered a flashback of all the abuse he had suffered as a kid by the hands of the Blood Spirals.
"What about them?!" He screamed, he was on the verge of breaking down, even after all this time, even after becoming so strong, he was still a helpless victim. Rei saw Kazuki's reactions and hugged him from behind, breathing on his back to warm him up. This time her efforts paid off as he calmed down and placed his hands-on top of Rei's on his stomach.
"The last guild you and Rei took out, they were one of the Blood Spirals' lesser guilds." Jura paused as he took a deep breath, he knew what was going to happen, and he dreaded it.
"The Blood Spirals have finally started making a move. You've forced them out of hiding."
"I'll kill them all."
"Prince – " Jura was cut off by Kazuki.
"Stop calling me that. It's never been funny."
"What should I call you then?"
"My name is Kazuki."
Makarov and Jura started at Kazuki in astonishment, they had known him for just under a decade, and only now had they learnt his name. Rei was smiling behind the hug, Kazuki was able to tell people his name now, it made her happy to know how much he had changed for the better in just over a week.
"Kazuki, Blood Spirals' are vicious, they kidnap toddlers for their horrifying rituals, more often then not, the children die within 2 weeks. Those unfortunate enough to survive are brainwashed into becoming a soldier for the guild."
"I know exactly what those scum do! That's why I'm going to kill them. The council should have taken them out a long time ago."
"How do you know about them Kazuki?" Makarov asked. Rei was in fear, she had pieced together the events of their night in the hotel to the information Jura had just given. Kazuki was a victim of the Blood Spirals.
"Because I've read about them before!" Kazuki shouted. "I used Archive Magic to hack into the council's database and read up everything available on Dark Guilds." Rei eased up slightly, maybe she got it wrong, maybe he wasn't a poor victim. Maybe.
"You hacked the council database?!" Jura shouted, of all things Kazuki had done, this was the most ridiculous.
"It's hardly a crime, I was already a Saint."
"Why didn't you just ask me for the information?"
"Yeah because you're so likely to give me it."
"Now that you know that they've begun to make a move, are you going to hunt them down?"
"I would have, had you asked me this 1 week ago."
"What's different now?"
"My life doesn't belong to me anymore." Kazuki smiled and pulled Rei in front of him as he hugged her from behind this time. "It belongs to her now." Rei blushed and melted into his arms, he was such a cinnamon roll, her cinnamon roll.
Makarov watched Kazuki and realised that this man was not the same person as he used to be.
"I see. I'm glad, I will take my leave now." Jura lifted his arm to reveal a teleportation lacrima.
"Goodbye Makarov, Kazuki and Rei. Take care."
"Bye." All 3 replied in unison as Jura teleported back to the council Headquarters via the lacrima.
"Very well, I will allow it." Makarov said out of the blue.
"What do you mean?" Kazuki and Rei asked together, equally confused.
Makarov pointed his finger at Kazuki's right arm and fired a small light ball at it. Kazuki rolled up the sleeve of his black hoodie and saw a Fairy Tail emblem on his arm.
"Welcome to Fairy Tail."
