Chapter 16

Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed the last chapter. This chapter has some mild gore, so I have given a warning. I would like to thank the two guest reviewers for your reviews. Thank you for your support!

I would like to thank Thiskid2004 for your support. Of course, I have no plans to abandon this story. Thank you for your support!

I would like to thank IceFire99 for your supportive review. I am glad that you are liking the gradual progression of Percy's and Athena's relationship. Thank you for your continued support!

I would also like to thank JoJo Jesus for your constant support. Your unequivocal support has been a great motivator and I hope that you enjoy this chapter as well! Coming to your question, Athena will continue to have demigods until she realizes that she is in love with Percy. As there aren't any romantic sparks between them yet, she doesn't have any reason to not have demigods. But, most of those demigods will have an insignificant impact on this story. Of course, "Percy Jackson and The Lost God" by Momentei is a great read with a great plot and a good pairing. Thank you for your continued support and have a great day!

Coming to ShadowThanatos' review, I am glad that you liked certain parts of the previous chapter. Now I know that I had mentioned that Percy was stronger than before but it's not a huge boost or anything. He's just learned to rely a bit less on his shockwaves and has taken a more efficient approach to combat. I will answer the rest of the questions in the footnote. Thank you for your continued support!

All credit for the characters goes exclusively to Rick Riordan.

Otis came to consciousness with a loud groan of pain, every inch of him aching. He tried to gather his focus and heal himself via the power of the earth, but he could not feel the ground below him. He did not have the strength to figure out why, so he simply shrugged it off and tried to reach up, only to find out his hands were tied behind his back. Before he could get a chance to panic, a stream of ice-cold water doused him, the fog in his mind clearing with the shock. When he opened his eyes to find who dared attack him, he froze as fourteen pairs of eyes glared back at him with a power that was tangible in the air around them.

Percy was relieved. He had taken slightly longer than he had hoped in order to finish the monster army and was certain the Earth Mother's intervention was inevitable. Thankfully, Lady Athena had managed to defeat and capture Otis before he had been forced to find out if his conserved energy reserves would be enough for them to make it out victorious. After leaving the beach, they had discussed Otis' interrogation and, after extensively considering all suggested locations, they had decided that they would be interrogating him in the Olympian throne room.

This decision was made for a practical as well as a psychological reason. The Earth Mother had no control in Olympus and thus the gigas had no backup and they could extract information out of him without any hurdles. Being on Olympus also had an intimidating factor attached to it; the gigas was bound to cower in fear and, with enough pressure, they hoped he would spill all the intel that was required.

According to Lady Athena, this would also send a message to all the other gigantes and would show the rest of the divine world the reach of Olympian might, hopefully prompting a few more minor gods to join their side. No one could argue with her reasoning and, without much delay, the Olympian council had been summoned, with Lord Hades as an honorary guest.

The gods had tasked Apollo with healing the gigas and Hephaestus with binding him in the strongest set of Celestial Bronze chains he could forge. When Otis was finally restrained and kneeling in the middle of the throne room, they all took their places and waited for the monster to rise.

Percy was growing impatient though; he could tell his enemy was slowly regaining his consciousness but every moment that passed was a moment wasted. With an annoyed huff, he condensed the air around him to a body of water and splashed it on the monster's head, the temperature sure to be freezing. That seemed to do the trick and the council was finally awarded with evident fear on the gigas' face.

"Otis, my friend. It is my pleasure to introduce you to the mighty Olympian council. I hope that your journey was smooth and hassle-free." Percy welcomed the gigas with faux politeness, his voice dripping with sarcasm. The gigas growled at him but other than that, he stayed silent, refusing to accept his defeat.

"Do you know why you have been brought to Olympus, gigas?" Zeus boomed from his throne with his Master Bolt in hand. Otis flinched in fear at the intimidating sight, yet, he still refused to respond.

"Where is my son, gigas? I will award you a painless death if you tell me his whereabouts." Zeus declared with sparks of electricity emanating from him.

"I have the Earth Mother on my side. She will torture you for eternity for this insult." Otis declared after gaining some courage. Zeus grew red with anger and his Master Bolt began vibrating in his hand. However, he was interrupted by Percy before he could release his rage upon the giant.

"Lord Zeus, if you would grant me permission, I can force the information out of him." Percy promised, determination clear in his tone.

Suppressing his annoyance at being interrupted, Zeus nodded in consent. The son of Poseidon had kept his word till now; if he said that he could force the information out of the gigas, Zeus had no reason to doubt him.

Once he had his uncle's permission, Percy walked towards the kneeling monster, stopping a couple inches in front of him. All the gods in the room leaned in anticipation as they waited with bated breath for the confrontation that would undoubtedly take place.

"Allow me to cut straight to the chase, Otis. You will share all the information that you know about Lord Ares and the plans of the rest of your family, there's no way around that. However, you can do that in two ways. One is you play nice and, like a good prisoner, you spew out all the information voluntarily. Or two, I force the information out of you in a most unpleasant way. For you, that is - I will greatly delight in your suffering." Percy declared in a calm voice, almost cheery, though everyone in the room could detect the underlying ruthless edge to it.

The gigas laughed and defiantly met Percy's gaze. "Do your worst, godling. You failed last time; this won't be any different. No matter how long you have me in your custody, my brothers will eventually free me and lay waste upon your precious Olympus." Otis confidently boasted.

"It seems that you have forgotten our previous encounter. Very well, I shall grant you what you desire then." Percy declared with a predatory smirk before turning to Hephaestus.

"Lord Hephaestus, please remove the chains from his legs." Percy requested. The Lord of forges complied and with a snap of his fingers, the gigas' reptilian legs were free of chains.

Percy casually walked closer, the monster still unable to move since he was chained down from the waist up. Once he was in position, his foot took on an ethereal glow as he brought it down on the gigas' right leg, crushing it until all that was left was a mess of reptilian skin and ichor splattered on the pristine white marble. Otis howled in agony and even a few gods flinched at the brutality of the attack, although Percy seemed unaffected as he addressed his injured enemy.

"Now Otis, are you going to talk or will I need to purée your other limbs first?" Percy questioned. The kneeling gigas frantically shook his head to convey his cooperation, the pain taking away his ability to speak.

"Glad we sorted out any misunderstandings. So, tell me about your brothers' and mother's plans for this war." Percy ordered.

"My brother and I were sent to distract the Olympians while our brother Polybotes attacked the Atlantean cities. Since that failed, our mother came up with another plan. My brothers are hoping to tire out the younger Olympians and capture them in order to take them out of the fight and focus on the Elder gods. They also plan to capture an Olympian goddess along with Ares in order to use their ichor to awaken the Earth Mother. Since she is in a very deep slumber, she requires the ichor of two very powerful immortals in order to awake. Once she rises, my brothers plan on storming Olympus alongside her." Otis revealed. The eyes of all those present in the throne room widened in fear at the prospect of fighting an awakened protogenos.

"Where is Lord Ares?" Percy questioned after snapping out of his initial shock.

"I don't know." Otis replied. At the sight of Percy's narrowing eyes, he hurriedly continued "He is being held in a Celestial Bronze jar that hides his energy signature and the jar is being shifted between us. I was holding it till the day before yesterday before handing it over to my brother Gration." Otis finished.

"Lord Apollo, is he telling the truth?" Percy questioned the sun god. Apollo nodded at his cousin in affirmation. Percy then tilted his head in respect towards Zeus and returned to his place by his father's throne.

"Very well gigas. I shall grant you the painless death that was promised. Athena, Perseus, finish him." Zeus ordered.

Their respective spears materialised in Percy's and Athena's hands and they threw it at Otis. The spears simultaneously passed through his head and the gigas dissolved into a mass of grapevine and reptilian skin. With a flick of Hera's fingers, the throne room returned to its original lustre, free of all gore.

"The Earth Mother cannot be allowed to wake up at any cost. As long as she is in her domain, even all of us put together cannot significantly harm her. It will be a futile effort to fight both her and our banes. No major goddess, apart from Athena, Aphrodite and Artemis, is allowed to go out of Olympus. Even the three of you will only step out of Olympus to fight your banes. Understood?" Zeus ordered.

"What about Ares? We need to free him." Aphrodite declared.

"Yes, Ares must be found, which is why I want all of you to hunt your banes along with Perseus. We will start with the Bane of Artemis. I task you both with killing the gigas and potentially freeing Ares." Zeus declared.

"Perseus, you have done well. For your services, I grant you permission to enter and leave the Olympian throne room without an escort. Whatever supplies you need in order to hunt the gigas will be immediately provided. Don't fail me. If there are no other questions this meeting is dismissed." Zeus addressed Percy with a hint of respect in his voice and disappeared in a blinding flash of lightning. Most of the gods flashed out, but a few remained.

"Son, your unmatchable feats have made me very proud. However, I am not pleased with your newfound ruthlessness." Poseidon waited behind to reprimand his son.

"I am sorry father, but that was the fastest way to extract the information out of him. We are at war. Sometimes we have to do questionable deeds for the greater good." Percy solemnly replied.

"I know Percy, we have committed our fair share of such deeds during the Titanomachy, but I don't want you engaging in such brutality. Leaving that aside, I know that you are more than capable of handling gigantes. But, if you ever need my help, just pray to me. I will be there." Poseidon promised. Percy gave his father a lopsided grin, an identical expression spreading out on his father's face as he disappeared in a blue mist.

Artemis made her way towards Percy with an expression of annoyance. She mildly glared at him but to her surprise, he met her gaze impassively. "I have been assigned to hunt the gigas with you, that does not mean I will tolerate any transgressions. Any funny business and you will find yourself roaming the forests as a jackalope." Artemis declared.

The goddess of the hunt thought that the man would cower in fear, instead he let out a laugh in response. An infuriated expression made its way on Artemis' face at that show of defiance.

"What is so funny boy?" Artemis hissed in anger. Instantly, Percy's mood changed, eyes swirling as he met Artemis' fierce glare with a stoic, steely gaze. Artemis had to admit, this lack of fear slightly unnerved her.

"I did not mean to offend you, Lady Artemis. I will not commit any offensive or inappropriate actions in our hunt. I have the utmost respect for you and your skills. However, I am not some run of the mill mortal man. I am a Prince of Atlantis and second in line to the throne, so I expect some due respect in return." Percy calmly replied with a hard edge could in his voice.

Artemis' anger mounted but she stayed silent. He had not offended her in any way and he wasn't suggesting an impossible proposition, so she grudgingly agreed and nodded.

"Alright Perseus. In ten minutes, gather whatever supplies you require and come to Selene's palace. She has reported to me that my bane was roaming the Spartan wilds and she may have some more information before we leave." Artemis declared and vanished in a silver light.

After that, only Percy and Athena were left in the room, Percy nodded at Athena and was about to disappear, but she stopped him.

"Perseus, wait." Athena interrupted. She continued once his attention was on her. "As a token of my appreciation for your support in our successful hunt, allow me to reward you. Subduing the gigas would have been harder if you weren't present."

"I don't deserve all the credit Lady Athena. After all, I had help from the world's greatest strategist." Percy replied with a wide smile. A serene smile made its way on Athena's face as she marveled at the endearing personality of the man in front of her. A small grey pouch materialised in her hands and she handed it to Percy.

"This pouch is enchanted by Aunt Hestia to expand into a tent with large and cosy insides. A few wards have been placed by Hecate to shroud your presence from all mortals and immortals for a day. There will be abundant medical and other supplies inside it. If not now, you will need it in the future." Athena explained. Percy graciously took the bag and tilted his head in gratitude.

"Farewell, Lady Athena. It has been a pleasure hunting with you." Percy sincerely stated and vanished in a blue mist. Following his lead, Athena vanished from the throne room with a small smile on her face.

As much as Artemis hated to admit it, Perseus had been a polite and tolerable hunting companion. He had kept to himself in his tent and never bothered her, keeping his distance even while they were hunting.

They had been roaming the Spartan wilds for two weeks without any sightings of the gigas that they were hunting. They had encountered a few pockets of monsters here and there but, other than that, the gigas seemed to be avoiding them.

While she was stealthy enough to evade most immortals, her bane seemed to be able to acutely sense her presence. For that reason, reconnaissance had been carried out by Perseus and she was currently in the tent that Athena had given Perseus in order to shroud her aura from the gigas. Her thoughts were interrupted by her companion.

"Lady Artemis, I have spotted the gigas and his army. They are situated around six leagues from our camp. They seem to be going somewhere, so this might be the appropriate time to attack them." Artemis heard Perseus' prayer.

"I will be there Perseus. Do not engage them until then." Artemis ordered through their mental link and immediately teleported to Perseus' location.

As soon as Percy sensed Artemis' aura entering the area, he launched a large funnel shaped shockwave at the moving monster army. The shockwave destroyed the entire left flank of the army and propelled the gigas that was leading them through multiple trees. A second later, he felt Artemis' presence next him.

"Deal with the gigas, Lady Artemis. I will land the killing blow after finishing this army." Percy declared as he destroyed an entire row of the monster army with a large, pressurised jet of water that he had condensed. Artemis eyes slightly widened at the immense skill he displayed before nodding at him and disappearing from the area, in order to deal with the gigas.

The army of monsters stood no chance against Percy. Their ranks gradually thinned as Percy viciously tore through them, no defence able to stand against him. Half an hour later, Percy drove one of his swords through the skull of the last hellhound and with that the entire monster army had been vanquished. Percy took a moment to regain some of his energy as he consumed a large square of Ambrosia.

As he surveyed the destruction that he had caused, he was puzzled about the lack of interference from the Earth Mother. This fight had taken longer than the one on Mount Olympus, yet Gaia had not interfered. He shook his head to clear it of all thoughts. Now was not the time to ponder. After locating the gigas' and Artemis' aura, he disappeared from the area in a blue mist.

The moment the shockwave hit him, Gration knew that this battle was a lost one. The news of the return of the son of Poseidon along with Otis' capture had reached him and he had immediately set about to join his brother Hippolytus. Alas, it seemed that he had been outsmarted.

He had already fought the goddess of the hunt once and had narrowly lost to her. This time, the earlier shockwave which the upstart godling had sent upon him and his army had caused some minor injuries to his left side. This had hindered him from fighting at his full potential and he had collected multiple injuries. He would not last much longer.

Just as the thought crossed his mind, one of his opponent's hunting knives cut a deep gash on his exposed arm. Before he could counter, a shockwave sent him barrelling into a tree.

By the time he recovered, four Celestial Bronze javelins impaled his arms. He let out a cry of pain but was silenced by a jaw shattering fist to the face. Instantly, his arms and legs were bound by chains of solidified water. When he recovered from this onslaught, he paled in fear at the sight of his attacker's terror-inducing figure.

"I was going to win the fight anyway." Artemis huffed in annoyance.

"I know Lady Artemis, but we had orders to subdue the gigas as fast as possible. I did not mean to steal your kill." Percy apologetically replied and turned his attention to the bound and bleeding gigas.

"Hello Gration. While we have not met, I am a good acquaintance of your brothers'. I say we skip all the chit-chat: where is Ares? Your late brother Otis told us that you had him with you. If you cooperate, you will be rewarded with a painless death. Or else, I shall crush you withing an inch of your life and force the answer out of you." Percy coldly stated.

The gigas defiantly smirked at his attacker. "Ares is not with me, godling. He is with my brothers. My siblings will coalesce all their armies in order to repel any Olympian attack. Two of them have already joined forces near Corinth and two others will join them before they attack and raze the city. Ares is with them. You might think that you have the edge in this war, but you only managed to defeat the four of us because you had the element of surprise on your side. But now, we know that you are the centerpiece of the Olympian attack. Do your worst, godling. You will fail to make any difference." Gration triumphantly boasted.

"Your entire family made the mistake of making that arrogant boast. Look at where it got them. The rest of you are no different. You and your remaining brothers will meet the same fate." Percy calmly replied.

The kneeling gigas let out a condescending laugh before being silenced by a volley of silver arrows to his exposed parts. Percy finished the job by decapitating the gigas with one of his swords and the gigas dissolved into a mass of bear pelt and reptilian skin.

"He was annoying." Artemis stated with a small smirk. The goddess had a newfound respect for the man. His sense of duty and lack of arrogance was admirable.

"Truer words have never been spoken, Lady Artemis." Percy responded with a smirk of his own. But his face turned serious as he continued "This is worrying information, my lady. We have to relay this message to the rest of the council immediately."

"Yes, it seems that a great threat stands in our way. We have to find a way to deal with it and soon." Artemis promised, nodded at Percy and flashed out in a flash of silver. Percy followed her lead and disappeared in a blue mist.

A feeling of déjà vu overtook him as Percy apprehensively stared at the army of two thousand monsters that had gathered near the polis of Corinth through the iris message. The monsters had set up a large camp with strong earthen walls and other fortifications. To make matters worse, each of the four gigantes were guarding a different corner of the camp. Currently, all the major gods bar Hades had convened in the Olympian throne room in order to discuss an assault on the army. His train of thought was broken by Athena's voice.

"Any land-based attack is simply not feasible. Even with Pan having galvanized the nature spirits in our support, we don't have the skilled warriors that are required to mount an invasion on foot." Athena declared.

"Can't one of you just take your divine form after teleporting in the middle of the army? After that, the other gods and I can deal with the remaining gigantes." Percy suggested.

"The Earth Mother is maintaining a very strong metaphysical barrier around the camp, nephew. Even if my brother launched his Master Bolt at the camp, the barrier would be strong enough to prevent it from causing any damage. The only way to attack it will be by physically assaulting it. At the site, the Earth Mother's power is so concentrated that it suppresses our essences." Hestia explained. Percy frowned at this worrying piece of information.

"What about gathering the demigods and mounting an offense with an army of them. There are probably hundreds of them spread across the country." Hera suggested, slight spite in her voice as she thought of her husband's infidelities.

"Absolutely not. The demigods are not equipped to deal with a danger of this proportion. It will be like sending them to be slaughtered." Hermes staunchly opposed. He would not let his children lose their lives fighting his battles.

"Hermes is right. Some of these demigods have never even touched a weapon. We cannot send them in as cannon fodder." Athena seconded.

"What if we launch an aerial assault?" Artemis proposed. The rest of the gods seriously contemplated this proposition in a moment of silence. It was certainly a more realistic plan. The children of Zeus could fly into the area while Aphrodite could ride into battle with the help of Zephyrus. This would allow them to bypass the physical fortifications as well as the metaphysical barrier.

"There's only one small problem, Lady Athena. I am not exactly equipped to be part of an aerial assault." Percy awkwardly pointed out.

"I can take care of that, cousin." Hermes mischievously replied. As soon as he made this statement, a pair of winged sandals materialised in Percy's hands.

"Lord Hermes. I am not allowed to traverse the skies without the permission of Lord Zeus." Percy cautiously stated, he did not want to offend his uncle. At this statement, all the heads in the throne room turned at Zeus for his approval.

"Of all the things you could have given him, you chose a pair of winged sandals. Very well. Perseus, you have my permission to traverse the skies." Zeus sighed and grudgingly acquiesced.

"Cheer up, brother. No need to be so dull and sullen before a massive victory for the Olympian forces." Poseidon teasingly comforted. Zeus glared at him in aggravation, but he responded with a large smirk. Annoying Zeus gave him a great deal of joy and his younger brother knew that very well.

"Now that this issue has been resolved, we can move on. Apart from Percy, who else will be a part of this attack?" Demeter questioned.

"Since our banes are leading the army, Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite and I will have to be a part of this assault along with Percy." Apollo stated.

"Athena, I want you to join this battle as well. Your strength and strategy will be vital in this mission." Zeus ordered. Athena nodded in consent. She had intended to be a part of this battle already; she had just been waiting for the best time to announce her decision. As strong as Perseus was, fighting two thousand monsters and then fighting four gigantes was pushing it even for him.

"Father, I also wish to join this battle. While Athena and Perseus are perfectly capable of dealing with the army of monsters, it will take them some time to defeat it in its entirety. We also have to account for any surprises that the Earth Mother might spring on us. For that reason, I believe that our chances of success will improve if I am involved." Artemis explained.

"I agree with you, niece. The Earth Mother is very cunning. We will have to be prepared for anything that she throws at us." Demeter concurred. Apollo was about to say something when Percy cut him off.

"I just have one question." Percy interrupted. Once all the attention was on him, he continued. "Presently, there are five gigantes roaming the Earth, but, only four of them have gathered near Corinth. The other one is still roaming the wilds of Argos. What about him? Why hasn't he joined the rest of his brethren near Corinth?" Percy questioned.

"This is not the time to worry about a lone gigas. You and Athena can take care of him later. Leaving that aside, when will all of you proceed with the attack?" Zeus irately brushed aside Percy's question and turned to the members of the assault.

"From our previous battle with our banes, it is evident that not all of us are not equipped to defeat them." Athena stated and immediately Hermes, Hephaestus and Aphrodite glared at her. She ignored them and continued. "For that reason, I believe we should attack them after a fortnight. This should give us some time to prepare for the assault." She finished. Hermes looked like he wanted to say something, but his father cut him off.

"Athena is right. There is no scope for failure. I want everyone who is a part of this invasion to use the next fourteen days to get into shape. Gather more of your essences and channel your divine attributes more efficiently. Perseus, I want you to be at full strength before this battle. Stock your weaponry and gather all your emergency medical supplies. Athena, I want you to come up with a flawless battle strategy. Your objective is to not only finish the army, but also to free Ares. If there are no questions, this council is dismissed." Zeus commanded and disappeared in a shower of sparks.

"Before the rest of you flash out, I have an announcement. I want everyone who is part of this invasion to gather in my palace the day before the invasion. We will discuss the assault and make a plan of attack." Athena announced. Everyone nodded their heads in acquiescence and disappeared, though the goddess stayed behind.

Athena was thinking about Percy's question. There had to be a reason that her bane was not along with the rest of his brethren. When she had fought him, she had realised that he was more intelligent than the rest of his siblings. He had to have a reason for not joining his siblings near Corinth and Athena intended to find out what it was. But that would be dealt with at a later time. For now, the army near Corinth was their main target. With these thoughts in mind, Athena vanished from the throne room in a grey light.

Amphitrite was worried. She had initially dismissed Percy's single-minded determination of defeating the gigantes as an expression of wounded pride. But, after coming to know about his ruthless interrogation of the gigas and after observing his rigorous training schedule, she had realised that this was turning out to be a manifestation of his fatal flaw.

Poseidon and his children, mortal and immortal were driven by their personal loyalty. But its manifestation varied across the different individuals who possessed it. For demigods, it manifested in the form of excessive self-responsibility. They blamed themselves for every misfortune that befell on the people around them. At times, this caused them to take drastic and irrational measures for the sake of perceived self-atonement.

In contrast to his demigod children, Poseidon's expression of his fatal flaw was not that focused on grief and atonement. Poseidon would do anything, maim anybody or sink an entire island without any hesitation if he thought that his actions would protect someone he loved. If he ever felt that someone he loved was in danger, he would mercilessly destroy anyone whom he perceived as a threat to his family.

For that reason, Amphitrite had spent centuries in trying to teach Poseidon to bring his fatal flaw under rein and it had worked to a great extent. Poseidon had been mostly successful in suppressing the negative aspect of his extreme personal loyalty. While he was still extremely protective, he wasn't as ruthless as before.

Thankfully, Kymopoleia had not inherited this flaw and Triton's fatal flaw was balanced by the traits that he had inherited from her. But unfortunately, it seemed like Percy had inherited his father's ruthless manifestation of his fatal flaw and to make matters worse, the blessing of the River Styx would amplify it to a greater degree than it would amplify his restraint.

Despite being one quarter mortal, Percy had no sense of mortality and having complete physical invulnerability had increased this lack of understanding. Death, blood and, to a certain extent, pain were foreign topics to her youngest son. In her opinion, that fearlessness combined with his lack of self-preservation made him even more dangerous than his father. Now that his fatal flaw had been invoked, Percy would not stop until all the gigantes were dead and she was afraid that he would put himself and possibly, even others at risk during this ruthless endeavour.

Her only solace was that Percy was inherently a kind and empathetic individual. Those traits combined with her blessing would prevent him from crossing the line of morality. Still, there was always the danger of Percy losing himself in his cold determination. In order to prevent that, Amphitrite was on her way to the Royal Arena in order to talk to Percy about this. She was determined to stop Percy from walking down a dark path that he would not be able to come back from.

Hey guys! Now as promised, I will elaborate on why I made Percy seem perfect in the previous chapters. I felt that darker changes in his personality would be more visible if you had a perfect image of Percy to compare to. It is an attempt to showcase how war and different incidents change even the best of people. Also I can't incorporate the same manifestation of Percy's fatal flaw as Rick Riordan has. First, I'm not as good as him and second, Percy is very different in this story. He's grown up in an immortal family and most of the people that he's currently close to cannot be actually killed. So giving him the same version of the fatal flaw didn't make much sense. I have showcased the inception of Percy's fatal flaw from Amphitrite's point of view and this will be highlighted in the coming chapters.

I did not mention Percy's recovery too much because the fall did not drastically affect Percy in a physical fashion, he fell, he healed, he trained and he came back into shape. Rather it was more of a shift in personality. This is an important plot point and anything else that I say would be a spoiler.

I also wanted to show the gradual progression of Zeus' respect for Percy. I believe that Zeus is not a complete douchebag (at least not in this story) and I want to portray a respectable side to him. There are plenty of stories that show him as paranoid and arrogant. While they are not wrong, I wanted to show a different take. Also since in this story, he is younger and less arrogant, I don't think that it is an impossible scenario.

Now, you may be a bit confused about the hunt with Artemis. This will not be a Percy X Artemis pairing. Their relationship will be purely platonic and familial. It's just to highlight Percy's gradual assimilation into the Olympian family. Like I said, I want to portray the Olympian family as a more cohesive and accepting family.

Read and review, I hope all of you enjoyed this chapter. Have a great day!
