HOUSE TULLY

EDMURE

Family, Duty, Honor, these are the words of House Tully, the Lords of the Riverlands; their sigil is that of a fish on a blue and red field. During Roberts rebellion Hoster Tully called his Banners and supported Robert and his allies against the Targaryens. More recently Lord Hoster fell sick and the responsibility of ruling the Riverlands fell to his son Edmure Tully.

The youngest of Lord Hoster's children, Edmure's mother died giving birth to him. His father did not resent Edmure, but he did spoil Edmure as a child and allowed him to do as he pleased. As a result Edmure, in many ways is not ready to rule in his father's stead. He does have Maester Harland to advise him.

Edmure would rather bed house maids and female servants, hunt and attend balls, than deal with the day to day responsibilities of running his Family's domain. Edmure breaks his fast at his father's bedside then he goes to the Solar to deal with the days business. "Lord Frey is getting married again." Maester Vyman says to Edmure.

Edmure shakes his head, "That makes this his what, ninth wife?"

"Eighth my Lord."

"What happened to the last wife?"

"She died in childbirth my Lord."

"Well there is no way in the seven hells I am going to that."

"Lord Walder Frey is a powerful my man My Lord. Perhaps…"

"No! The Late Walder Frey earned his nickname and made his bed."

"A Raven from the Capital the sigil of the Hand upon it." Edmure breaks the seal and reads.

To the Acting Lord of Riverrun

Edmure…I am sorry to hear that your father has fallen ill. And it pains me to write this message at such a time. I have set aside your Sister Lysa and disinherited her son…She has been unfaithful to me with Petyr Baelish…In addition the two of them conspired to kill me…Out of respect for your father I am sending Lysa home with her bastard…

With Regards

Jon Arryn

A few days later Maester Vyman turns up missing. "Why would he leave?" Edmure asks to his Castellan, a man by the name of Uther.

"Should I send men to find him my Lord?"

He sighs, "No I have bigger problems to deal with…Just send to the Citadel for another Maester." He writes a letter to his Uncle in the Vale and then to his sister Catelyn in Winterfell. Two weeks after the Raven arrived Lysa shows up with an escort of Jon Arryn's men. He greets his sister and allows her to get settled before confronting her.

"My Lord Edmure…Lord Arryn bid me place this in your hands and your hands alone."

Edmure breaks the seal and reads the letter. As he reads his anger grows hot. "Matthew!" He bellows calling the Captain of castle guard and man at arms.

"My Lord!"

"Take Jason, Gunther his dogs, and fifty men…Find Vyman and bring his wrinkled ass back to Riverrun!"

"My Lord what is happening/" Uther asks.

He hands him the letter, "By the seven."

"Place a bounty on his head! 10,000 gold Dragons! And send the Ravens out to every corner of Westeros…I do not that rat to find no place to hide!"

"He could head to the wall my Lord…"

"Yes, yes of course. Send men North as well." He was going to give Lysa time to get settled, but changed his mind after reading the letter. "Lysa we need to talk!" He says bursting into her room."

"Can it wait please."

"No!" He replies walking up to her and placing the letter in her hand.

She reads in silence and Edmure watches her, "Ed…I swear on the seven. I had no idea Petyr was having our father poisoned."

"After the Raven came about you the weasel ran away!"

"What are going to do?"

"I sent men to hunt that bastard!" A few weeks later the men Edmure sent out return with their prize and throw Vyman at Edmure's feet.

"Mercy My Lord! Please have mercy!"

His men had beaten the old man, but not to death. "Here is my mercy." He takes out a dagger and slashes his throat. As the blood gushes and his body falls Edmure spits. "Throw his body in the river…Let it feed the fish." Until a new Maester could arrive Edmure hires healers to attend his father.

HOSTER TULLY

Over the next few weeks Hoster's health improves. "You say Vyman was poisoning me?"

"Yes Father and Petyr Baelish was paying him to do so."

He shakes his head, "Brynden Stark should have killed that money, grubbing station climbing fool."

"I agree father…A Raven came from Winterfell, Cat is on her way to visit with some of her children for a visit."

"Good that is good." He coughs, "Now tell me about your sister."

"Father perhaps…"

"Now boy!" After Edmure tells him everything, Hoster summons Lysa to his room. "You have shamed this family! Do you know how long and hard I have worked to sure up the Riverlands against our enemies? We have the North on our side through your sister…Your marriage to Jon Arryn gave us the Knights of the Vale…And you threw it all away for that shit bag! Petyr Baelish."

"I loved him! He was mine! You…you made me kill my son!"

"A bastard!"

"My son and your unborn Grandchild! Family! Duty! Honor! Those are our words."

"Do not quote our House words to me girl…I know and live, the words every day…Get out of my sight…Get out of my castle! You and that bastard!"

"I hate you! I wish to the Stranger that you had died old man."

Edmure gives her coin, few guards and tells her head to the nearby Inn and wait. Then he sends a Raven to Jon Arryn asking him to name legitimize Robin and name him Petyr Baelish's heir. Secretly Jon had already done those things. A message arrived by Raven stating such. Lysa had been named Lady Protector of the Fingers until Robin Baelish came of age.

CATELYN STARK

My Dearest Cat

I write this letter to inform you about our Father and Sister…First I have recently learned that Maester Vyman at the behest of Petyr Baelish was poisoning our father…Vyman is dead I have dealt with it…By now you have heard that Lord Arryn has annulled his marriage to Lysa…In his mercy he has named her son Robin heir of the Fingers and all his businesses and wealth. Lysa to be Stewardess until he comes of age…

With Regards Your Brother

Edmure Tully

Dear Ed

It breaks my heart to learn all this for Petyr to plot against our family…I hope he burns in the seven hells…I am coming to Riverrun with my children Robb, Sansa, Arya, and Bran…Rickon is too young to travel and remain at Winterfell with his father…See you soon

With regards

Catelyn Stark nee' Tully

Cat arrives four weeks after the she sent the letter. She arrives in a wheel-House with a hundred guards and two supply wagons. Her son Robb and daughter Arya ride Horses into the Keep. Jory Cassel is with them as well. "Cat."

"Ed!"

They hug and then Cat introduces him to her children. After they get settled Cat speaks privately with Edmure. "How is he?" She asks as he pours them some wine.

"Getting stronger everyday…But the poison did a lot of damage…He has to use a wheeled chair to get around."

Cat shakes her head, "By the gods I hope Petyr Baelish suffers a thousand times over for what he did."

"Me too…I killed him myself in my rage. Now I wish I had made him suffer more, the little shit."

"And to think I begged Brynden to spare his life."

Edmure takes a drink, "Let us speak of more pleasant things."

"What of you? Anyone special in your life?'

"No…"

Later they take the children to meet their grandfather. "Robb Stark…Strong Northern name…You have the look of your mother." Hoster says. Then he meets Sansa, "By the gods…You are more beautiful than more at your age…"

"Thank you Grandfather."

"I can only see you getting more beautiful…" He looks at Catelyn, "Cat, nothing less than a Prince for this one."

"If the gods will it father."

Then he meets Arya and everything health wise for Hoster Tully improves immensely. He is able to start walking and doing more for himself. She had healed from all the damage caused by the poison.

THE BLACKFISH

Bryden Tully had not been to Riverrun since he and his brother had a falling out about him marrying. Then when word came that Lysa had been set aside and Vyman was poisoning his brother, Brynden rides to his childhood home to see his brother Hoster. He arrives two days after Catelyn and is surprised to see Hoster in the yard with everyone else to greet him.

"Brother…it has been a longtime old man."

"Who are you calling old…Ya goat?" They laugh and hug. "You look well for a man who has been poisoned."

"I think seeing my family…My Grandchildren was all the medicine I needed…Uther! Tonight we feast again!"

That night during the feast Brynden spots his Grandnephew Robb eyeing one of the healers who tended to Hoster. "Hey lad why don't you go up and ask the Lady to dance?"

Robb smiles and walks over to her. "I thought you hated match making Uncle." Cat says standing nearby.

"I hate forced matches which benefit no one but the family."

"Some times it benefits the two people as well."

He nods, "As it benefitted you and Ned…Your children are sent by the gods and a boon to both our houses."

"Thank you Uncle."

"They make a nice a couple." He says pointing his drink at Robb and the young lady.

"They do, but she's a healer."

"And of noble birth."

She looks at him, "How can you tell?"

"Look how she dances…Only someone of Noble birth could dance like that…And she does not shy away from staring your son in the eyes…Born of nobility says I…Probably from Essos. Volantis perhaps."

"You get all that from watching her?"

"Aye I do." The next day Bryden goes out to the yard and asks Robb for a spar. "Show me what you are made of lad." Robb has good technical skills and awareness. With more time and training he could be really good. Brynden makes him yield after forty hard minutes of fighting. "You are good lad I had to earn that win."

"I wish Jon were here…I would like to see him against you Uncle."

"Your father's…" He notices Robb's expression quickly changes, "…Other son."

"Aye."

That is when Arya walks up to him, "My turn!"

He looks down at her, "Perhaps when you are older little one."

"Fine if you are scared Uncle I will wait for someone more challenging." A wave of ohs echoes across the courtyard.

He looks at Robb who nods. "Try her."

"Her parents let her train in arms?"

"Aye they do. On her way to becoming one of the best swords in the North…Only one she can't beat is Jon."

"Alright little wolf show me." And show him she did. Arya was everywhere and despite her height and reach, Brynden could not touch her. She strikes him on the knee, the arm, the butt, rolls in between his legs and comes up with sword at his crotch.

"Do you yield Uncle?"

He smiles as every claps, "I yield little wolf." When she lowers her sword Brynden grabs her as fast as he can and starts tickling her. "Someone needs to teach this little wolf humility." After the new Maester, Maester Adwell summons Brynden and Robb to his brother's Solar. Cat and Edmure are there waiting.

"I heard you yielded to my niece."

"Aye I did…What is so important?"

"Tywin Lannister is dead." Hoster says to them all.

"What? How?"
