THE AGREEMENT

He was just a little kid, about six when they came to his house. Two tall men dressed in crisp black suits looking all important. His mother greeted them while he was in the living room, his schoolwork strewn on the floor with a plate of snacks on the coffee table and his favourite All Might action figure in one hand. One of the men introduced themselves to his mother, he didn't hear what they were saying as he was focused on watching a documentary about his favourite hero on the television.

He looked up when his mother walked into the living room, the two men in tow. His brows furrowed in confusion but before he could say anything, his mother had asked him to go upstairs, to his room. He wanted to complain, he was watching a very important documentary on television after all, but one look from his mother had him shut his mouth. He grumbled as he gathered his things, leaving the plate of snack on the coffee table, then begrudgingly went to his room. He was tempted to slam the door behind him but thought against it. He didn't want his mother to scream him later, he's not in the mood to face her wrath.

He put his books on his desk then flopped on his back on the bed, having lost interest in his schoolwork. His eyes stared at his room ceiling, littered with glow in the dark stars. He huffed and sat up, eyes catching the clock on the wall telling him that it was fifteen to five. He pursed his lips as he wondered about the two men in suits. Are they here to talk with his mom about work? But she doesn't usually chase him away to his room if it's related to her work unless he was being noisy.

Curiosity poked at his mind and he chewed his bottom lip as he thought about what he should do. Grinning excitedly, he went to his door and opened it quietly. Silently, he tiptoed down the stairs. He could hear them talking as he stayed hidden, sitting at the bottom of the stairs.

"We'd like you to think about it, ma'am. With that quirk of his, he'll be a great hero if you allow him to train with us."

His mother hummed in thought, "I'm sure he will but what about school?"

"Well, we'll give you two options here. One, he fully trains with us, meaning he'll be tutored by people we hire for our heroes in training. He will be completely cut off from socializing with anyone his age. Two, he trains with us after school hours and during the school breaks. Although the second option would still mean he'll have less free time to socialize with other kids his age but at least he'll have the chance when he goes to school."

"If I agree with either one of these options, what's in it for us?" asked his mother.

"His training would be free of charge, his future as a hero is sealed and if you think about money, he gets paid for every mission accomplished, including missions he took before he gets his license. By the time he officially becomes a Pro, his pay will be 20% higher than the average heroes in this country."

"What if he gets hurt while he's under your care? Will we get compensation?"

The two men looked at each other, one of them cleared his throat and nodded, "Yes. He will be our responsibility. Any cost to his treatment will be taken care of by our agency."

"I see."

"If you need more time to think about this, or you need to discuss with your husband-"

"I'll take your offer."

The two men sat up straight, surprise evident on their faces, "Uh, a-are you sure ma'am?"

His mother wrapped her arms around her chest and raised her head slightly, "You're the one who asked to take him under your care, didn't you? And since there are perks for us if he trains with you, I'll take your offer."

"Uhh, alright. Which one will it be Mrs Bakugou?"

Mitsuki rubbed her chin thoughtfully, "Katsuki's still a kid, a troublesome one too. I still think it's important that he meets kids his age. I don't want him to become a socially awkward weirdo when he grows up. I'll take option two."

Both men smiled at her decision, "Great! We'll be over at the weekend for you to sign a few papers and explain what sort of training program we have planned for your son."

Mitsuki nodded her head, "Alright, I'll talk with my husband and my son about this."

The three of them stood up and shook hands firmly. Mitsuki led them to the front door and paused when she saw a tuft of ash blonde hair, "Katsuki, you shouldn't be eavesdropping on adult conversation!"

Katsuki pursed his lips and glared at the two men, "Who're they? What do they want with me?"

One of the men, the one with the five o'clock shadow, smiled at him. He knelt on one knee, "Hello, there. I'm Kitamura Seiji and you must be Katsuki."

Katsuki stared at the man warily, "Why are you guys here?"

Mitsuki put a hand on the back of his neck and applied a little pressure, "I'll explain when your old man gets home. Now come and see these fine men off."

Katskui grumbled as his mother led him to the front door. His frown deepened when he heard Seiji's amused chuckle. What's so funny?! he thought angrily. The two men straightened their suits and bowed at the two Bakugou, "Thank you for having us, ma'am."

"Thank you for your offer to take in my son," said Mitsuki as she bowed as well. She pushed her son's head down to bow at their guests.

Once the men left, Katsuki turned to his mother, curiosity clearly in his eyes. His mother huffed, "We'll talk later. Come and help me get dinner ready before your old man comes home."

Katsuki glanced at the door, and wonder what his mom had agreed with those men. Guess he'll just have to wait until his dad gets home. He hoped the old man gets home quickly!
