Wolfie: As usual I do not own any Yu-Gi-Oh related stuff, just my oc's and any changes to the plot I make to incorporate my oc's into it. It's December which mean's there might just be a Christmas filler chapter to help fill in the space between Battle City and the time after Yugi and his friends get home from Duelist Kingdom though this depends on if I update enough to be able to have time to do that sort of chapter. I apologies for the fact that this chapter is a bit shorter than the last ones but I hoped you enjoyed it nonetheless.
Chapter 4, part 2
"Fire ball attack!" Yami Yugi said ordering his dragon to attack when the Hitotsu-me Giant suddenly lunged at the dragon, only to be destroyed by a fire ball that made the giant explode in a bright orange light as Kaiba shielded his eyes while groaning.
"Big brother, are you alright?" Mokuba asked as he rushed to his brother's side of the field, looking up at his older brother in worry as 200 points were taken away from his life points.
Kaiba: 1,800 Yugi: 2,000
"Allright! Go, Yugi!" Joey said excited that his friend already got the upper hand in the duel.
'Good job Yugi.' Salem thought with a small smile because no one but Joey would see it if he tried to sign his praise to his friend.
"Heh, well played Yugi, for a beginner, but how will you deal with this?" Seto asked as he picked up the card of his defeated giant and placed it in the grave yard pile and then placed down a new card that he drew from his deck as a strange looking clown appeared on the field as it sat Indian style.
"Saggi The Dark Clown? But that card has barely any attack strength." Yami Yugi said as he looked at the clown monster with a skeptical look, why would Kaiba play such a weak card and in attack mode of all modes?
"True, your Winged Dragon's attack is 1,400, while my Dark Clown's is only 600, but if I combine it with this card-" Seto said as he set down a magic card on one of the magic card spaces on his platforms dashboard as Yami Yugi gasped.
"A magic card!" Yami Yugi said in realization, wondering what kind of magic card Kaiba just combined with his clown and was wondering what the magic card would do.
"Exactly- the Negative Energy Generator. It multiplies my monster's attack by 3." Seto said as purple electricity crackled around Saggi as the clowns attack climbed to 1,800, 400 more than Winged Dragon's 1,400 attack points. "Dark Clown, attack with Drack Light." He said ordering his clown to attack with a malicious grin on his face as Saggi sent a black sphere surrounded by a blue aura and yellow electricity towards the blue dragon as the sphere hit, making the image of the dragon get interrupted by static as it gets fuzzy and then spin out of existence as 400 points was taken away from Yami Yugi's life points.
Kaiba: 1,800 Yugi: 1,600
"As you can see, combining cards can be very effective." Seto said reveling in his small victory against Yami Yugi's first monster as he was now ahead by 200 life points.
Yami Yugi looked across the field at Kaiba with gritted teeth as he places his hand on his Grandpa's deck after putting Winged Dragon into the grave yard pile, 'He's good, he knows every aspect of this game. But my Grandpa put all his gaming knowledge, his whole heart into assembling this deck. I have to believe that it holds some secret strategy.' He thought to himself as he drew a card from the deck, frowning when he saw it was just a weak one star card with a leg on it. 'This card is useless, I can't beat The Dark Clown with this. I'll have to use a different monster. In defense mode, the monster will be sacrificed, but my overall life points will be safe.' He continued his train of thought as he switched the leg out with a card in his hand and placed it face down on his platform dashboard horizontally in defense mode as the space on the field glowed.
"Dark Light attack!" Seto said ordering his monster to attack again as Saggi did so, destroying the monster as it briefly appeared before its image got fuzzy with static as it spins out of existence but does no harm to Yami Yugi's life points as said male puts that defeated card in the grave yard pile.
"Hang in there, Yugi." Joey said, banging his fists onto the waist high wall he was standing infront of.
Kaiba then went on a montage of having Saggi destroy each of the next two face down defense monster that Yami Yugi placed on the field and Joey and Salem were honestly worried about their friend, even if he wasn't losing life points Yami Yugi was being backed into a corner by Kaiba who was honestly as giddy as a little school boy which made the silent boy feel very unnerved. How can someone be so happy about destroying someones monsters sure dueling is fun and exciting but getting enjoyment from completely decimating a duelists defenses is just insane and not befitting of a duelist who duels with honor, it's hard to believe that the young CEO was a champion with how much he boasts and gloats whenever he does something that may get him closer to beating his opponent. Now Salem understands more than ever that Solomon was so insistent on having Kaiba be taught a lesson about the heart of the cards, despite knowing how to play the game Kaiba knows nothing about good sportsmen ship nor dose he know that despite the fact that they are just ink on cards each and every monster matters and plays its own part in the duel no matter how weak their attack and defense may be. That was one of the first lessons that Solomon gave him and he takes it to heart every time he duels, he has respect for all his monsters and treats they with kindness as if they are real and sometimes he feels like the monsters are actually there helping him make his decisions as crazy as that sounds to think that the monsters on the cards are there helping the owner of their cards win whatever duel he or she maybe in. For Salem it helps boost his confidence when he's dueling and it makes him feel a little less lonely on those lonely nights when he's in his room going over dueling strategies and is incorporating his new cards into said strategies whenever his friends are to busy with their own personal matters to hang out with him after school or on the weekends. Though if anyone knew that he thought about things that way they would think he was crazy and would most likely ridicule him for actually thinking that the monsters were real and were helping him, so he kept that little secret to himself since he didn't want to cause anyone to think he is insane because he hated feeling like he may become an outcast and doesn't ever want it to happen.
"You're not fairing any better than the old man did, Yugi. Your deck is just as weak and feeble as your grandfather." Seto said with a smirk on his face, hoping to get a rise out of Yami Yugi in order to throw him off what little game he has.
"My Grandpa is a great man and a better duelist than you'll ever be. He entrusted me with his cards, and I can feel his heart in this deck. I doubt you have that kind of faith in your cards, Kaiba." Yami Yugi said in defense of his grandpa as he was determined not to allow Kaiba to smear his grandfather's good name.
"What?" Seto asked as he looked at Yami Yugi with a look on his face that gave away the fact that the brunette was wondering if the amethyst eyed boy was insane.
"But I believe in my Grandpa's deck." Yami Yugi said as he placed his hand on his deck and drew a card and held it up so he could look at it before looking at Kaiba with a smile on his face. "And my faith rewards me with Gaia The Fierce Knight, with a destructive power of 2,300." He continued to say as he summons the monster he just drew from his deck.
"Huh?!" Seto said in shock as Gaia appears on the glowing square infront of Yami Yugi as Gaia's horse neighed as the purple horse carried its rider towards Saggi as Gaia destroyed the clown by piercing The Dark Clown's chest with one of his red jousting lance as Saggi fizzles out of existence as 500 points is taken from Kaiba's life points.
Kaiba: 1,300 Yugi: 1,600
"Way to go, Yugi!" Joey said as he pumped a fist up into the air.
'Only 1,300 more to go, I know you can do it Yugi.' Salem thought to himself as he gnawed at his bottom lip slightly out of nervousness.
"Alright, Kaiba, your move." Yami Yugi said with a smile on his face as he crosses his arms across his chest.
"Ha! This'll be over sooner than you think." Seto said before he drew a card from his deck and the looks at it as his eyes narrow slightly. "Hmm. I call on the Blue Eyes White Dragon." He said as the space infront of him glows before the dragon in question appears on the field as it gives out a mighty roar.
"Huh? No way!" Yami Yugi said, gaping at the dragon in shock after what Kaiba had done to the card prior to this duel.
'No, this can't be possible. I have the the Blue Eyes card that he tore up right here in my pocket, could it be that maybe he had a Blue Eyes all this time?' Salem thought to himself as he also looked up at the dragon in shock.
"Impossible. We all watched Kaiba tear that card in half." Joey said just as shocked as Yugi and Salem are about the appearance of the supposedly torn up card.
"Surprised? Did you think your grandfather was the only one to possess a Blue Eyes White Dragon?" Seto asked at his dragon raises up it's massive head, blocking Kaiba from view as it opens its mouth as it charges up its attack before firing a stream of blue energy surrounded by white lightning as it engulfs Gaia and his horse as they are destroyed, the bright light causing Yami Yugi as well as Joey, Salem, and Mokuba to shield their eyes and when the blast died down 700 points were taken from his life points.
Kaiba: 1,300 Yugi: 900
"Ha. Your Fierce Knight is destroyed. Faith or no faith, you will fall before my superior monsters, Yugi. Power is what this game is all about, you fool. Faith is for losers, like your pathetic grandfather." Seto said with his same sadistic smile as he looks at Yami Yugi who was gritting his teeth and sweating slightly under the pressure. "In your entire deck, there's not a single card that can stand up to a Blue Eyes White dragon. So what hope do you have against two?" He asked as he held up a second Blue Eyes card after his dragon destroyed two more of Yami Yugi's defensive monsters as he played the card as a dragon identical to the first one appears next to the first one on the field as it lets out a mighty roar as well. "Why don't you just admit defeat, Yugi?" Seto asked, overconfident with himself and his ability to win this duel.
"Hmm." Yugi hummed as he looked up at the two dragons that were towering over him and the field.
Meanwhile at the hospital Tea and Tristan were helping rush the hospital bed containing Solomon down one of the many hallways inside the hospital so he can be checked on by a doctor to make sure that he is not gravely injured and to make sure that he doesn't need to stay in the hospital longer than he needs to be because no one likes to stay in the hospital longer than they need too. The older male seemed to still be unconscious as he laid there on the hospital bed with his eyes closed and an oxygen mask on his face to help him get some much needed pure oxygen because the medics in the ambulance thought that maybe that's why he was in such bad condition since he possibly didn't get enough oxygen into his system and the added stress just wore him out. Tea and Tristan were so focused on helping rush Solomon's hospital bed down the hallway that they didn't pay attention enough to hear an actually awake Solomon telling Yugi to not give up as he continued to lay there on the bed, wanting his grandson to keep believing in himself and his cards since there is something in his deck that will help his young Grandson win against Kaiba. Back at the duel Yami Yugi seemed like he heard his grandfather's instructions to not hive up as he keeps looking at the two Blue Eyes White Dragons that were ready to completely destroy every possible monster he puts down in defense mode until he comes across a monster stronger than them just like he had with Saggi The Dark Clown a few turns ago.
"I won't give up. Grandpa's counting on me." Yami Yugi said as he drew a card and then gasped when he saw it. "A magic card. Swords of Revealing Light! It stops all monsters on the field for three turns." He said as he played the card and swords made of pure light fall from the sky above the dragons and land around the two dragons, making them completely trapped and immobile as they roar.
"How desperate. What possible good will a three turn delay do you?" Seto asked because to him Yami Yugi was just delaying the inevitable defeat that was coming his way.
'He's right. What do I do? I can't figure out what to do with these cards. They're all just a bunch of...pieces. How can I use them to battle an expert like Kaiba?' Yami Yugi thought to himself as he looks at the three card pieces that were two legs and an arm before he closed his eyes as he gritted his teeth in frustration.
"For someone claiming to have faith, you are giving up to easily Yugi. Listen, sometimes the cards are like a puzzle. You have to put all the different pieces in their proper place." A vision of Solomon said from behind Yami Yugi in his mind which caused said male to turn around in shock.
"Ah, like the Millennium Puzzle?" Yami Yugi asked as they were now standing in a dark void as he looks down at his puzzle for a moment.
"Exactly. Each piece helps build a greater entity." Solomon said before the vision of him fades away.
"Grandpa!" Yami Yugi said as he reached out towards the disappearing vision of Solomon.
"Like the pieces of a puzzle, Yugi, remember?" Solomon asked as his voice soon faded away.
'Puzzle?! When are the cards like a puzzle? Wait, Grandpa once said-' Yami Yugi thought to himself as he looked down in shock, remembering how Solomon told him about Exodia which was an unstoppable monster but it can only be summoned by drawing all five special cards and how no duelist has ever been able to successfully draw all five cards in a duel.
"Quit your stalling Yugi, or you will forfeit the match." Seto said having had enough of Yugi just staring down at his cards with his hand outstretched towards his deck.
"I never forfeit." Yami Yugi said as he drew a card from his deck and looked at it as he gasped. 'Another piece of the puzzle.' He thought to himself as he saw that it was the second arm, there was only one piece left now.
"Draw any card you like. It won't change a thing. My dragons may be frozen for another two turns, but my new monster is under no such spell- The Judge Man with an attack of 2,200." Seto said as he played said monster as it appeared and destroyed Yami Yugi's face down defense monster.
Yami Yugi gritted his teeth again as he drew a new card from his deck and saw it was the Dark Magician, 'I can attack with the Dark Magician, but he won't stand a chance once Kaiba's dragons are free of my spell.' He thought to himself as he summoned the purple cladded magician in attack mode. "Dark Magician, attack!" Yami Yugi said as the purple haired magician followed the order as he thrusted his hand forward, destroying The Judge Man with his magical attack and taking 300 points from Kaiba's life points.
Kaiba: 1,000 Yugi: 900
"Your Judge Man falls." Yami Yugi said as he now only had one turn left before Kaiba's dragons are free.
"Oh, a sacrifice that doesn't even phase me. And though neither dragon can move for one more turn, my next card is the third Blue Eyes White Dragon!" Seto said as he summoned the third and final dragon, showing that he had all three cards all along as Yami Yugi recoils in shock. "Now my dragon, attack!" He said as the only free dragon obeyed his command and destroyed the magician in a ray of blue light that is surrounded by white electricity causing Yami Yugi as well as Salem, Joey, and Mokuba to shield their eyes from the brightness of the blast for the second time as 500 points is taken away from his life points.
Kaiba: 1,000 Yugi: 400
"So tell me Yugi, how's your faith now? On my next turn, all 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons are free to attack. This games over, no matter what card you draw. You can't possibly stand against my 3 Blue Eyes White Dragons. It's over Yugi. You were never a match for me." Seto asked with a taunting and sadistic grin as Yami Yugi was now being stared down by his three dragons as the amethyst eyed boy gritted his teeth.
"Don't listen to him, Yugi. Salem and I know you can do it!" Joey said trying to reassure Yami Yugi that he can still win this.
'So the dickwad had all three dragons all along, no wonder he had no qualms when it came to ripping up Solomon's Blue Eyes card.' Salem thought as he glared slightly at Kaiba.
'Kaiba had 3 Blue Eyes all along. He only wanted Grandpa's card so it couldn't be used against him. My only chance now is to assemble all the pieces of Exodia, but the odds are against me. I don't think I can do this.' Yami Yugi thought as he slowly reached toward his deck only to find himself in the dark void again as he watched in shock as the deck begins to move away from him on its own. "Aah! The deck- it senses my doubt." He said as a transparent version of Yugi separates from him for a moment as he was reaching out towards the deck as well. "Don't lose focus Yugi. Don't lose faith. Concentrate." Yami Yugi said before him and the transparent Yugi merge together once again as he noticed the symbol on his hand, 'Our friendship symbol.' He thought as the hands of his friends that contain the rest of the symbol soon appeared as they held the deck still for him.
"Yugi, we're right here with you." Tea said as she gives him her usual kind and supportive smile.
"Yugi, you've got to believe in yourself." Tristan said, reminding his friend that he needs to believe in himself in order to feel confident.
"You can do it. Just kick Kaiba's ass." Joey said, reassuring his friend that he can win this duel.
"I believe in you Yugi, we all do." Salem managed to sign his own reassurance with one hand as he smiled, though it was saddening for Yami Yugi to see that even in his mind his silent friend still can't speak.
"They're right. I've got to believe in the cards like my friends believe in me." Yami Yugi said with a smile as he came back to reality with his hand hovering inches away from his deck.
"Draw your last pathetic card so I can end this, Yugi." Seto said with the same smile that had been on his face the entire duel.
"My Grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards, Kaiba. But it does contain...The unstoppable Exodia." Yami Yugi said with a smirk as he held up the head of Exodia, the final piece needed to summon said monster.
"Aah! Impossible!" Seto said practically shouting as he looks at the card in shock, how was a nobody like Yami Yugi able to draw all five pieces of Exodia?!
"I've assembled all 5 special cards. All 5 pieces of the puzzle." Yami Yugi said as he puts the cards down in the right order as a black hole containing a green pentagram appeared as Exodia emerged from the pentagram as the Egyptian looking monster towered over the three dragons.
"Exodia- it's not possible! No one's ever been able to call him." Seto said as he recoiled in shock, not wanting to believe that the unstoppable Exodia had really been summoned by Yami Yugi.
"Exodia, obliterate!" Yami Yugi said as Exodia did as he was ordered, charging up a golden blast between his hands before thrusting his hand forward as a golden laser hits the three Blue Eyes White dragons, destroying them and decimating the rest of Kaiba's life points as Kaiba screams and stares into the bright golden light that destroyed his dragons.
Kaiba: 0 Yugi: 400
"You did it! Yugi, you won!" Joey said with a grin and ended up pulling Salem into a headlock as he celebrates.
'Damn it Joey!' Salem thought as he tried to get out of the headlock as he took in the breath that got knocked out of him when he was released.
"This can't be! My brother never loses!" Mokuba said in shock as he looks up at his brother, not wanting to believe that his big brother lost.
"You play only for power Kaiba, and that is why you lost, but if you put your heart in the game there is nothing you can't do." Yami Yugi said, attempting to teach Kaiba about the heart of the cards like he promised his grandpa he would do.
"But- but how? How could I have lost to him?!" Seto asked himself in shock as he was hunched over the dashboard of his platform, staring down at the cards that had failed him.
"Kaiba, if you truly want to know, open your mind!" Yami Yugi said as the glowing gold eye of Anubis appeared on his forehead as he thrusted his hand towards Kaiba as a blast of magic hit Kaiba and destroyed the evil within him.
"Aah.." Seto breathed out as he slumped to his knees on his platform as he stared at Yami Yugi in shock.
'What did Yugi just do to him?' Salem thought to himself as he seemed to be the only one who noticed that Yami Yugi did something to Kaiba.
"There Kaiba, maybe now you will begin to see." Yami Yugi said as he lowered his hand.
Meanwhile back at the hospital Solomon gasped as he woke up, slowly opening his eyes as Tea was the first one to notice that the older male was awake and the first thing she did was announce that fact to Tristan who was standing a little ways behind her as he glanced over in confusion since he had been staring off into space up until now as the older male mumbles about how Yugi won. Then somewhere very far away a man by the name of Maximilian Pegasus was sitting in a dark room drinking wine as one of his underlings opens the door to the room, letting a bright light shine into the room as he informs his boss that Kaiba was defeated in a game of Duel Monsters by a boy named Yugi which caused Pegasus to hum as his Millennium Eye peeks out from the left side of his hair as he hums slightly to himself. The silver haired bearer of the Millennium Eye couldn't help but continue to smirk to himself because it seems that his so called champion has been schooled as he had expected someone to come along and put Kaiba boy in his place, he just thought it would happen here at his Duelist Kingdom tournament where he could see the look on his face when he lost. However this helps further push along his plans, after all the undefeated champion was just defeated which means his spirits are crushed and soon he would be abandoning everything he has in order to find himself, and once poor little Kaiba boy realizes what is going on it will have been too late for him to do anything to stop it.
