DRAGON BLOOD

JON/AEGON

From Driftmark Jon sails aboard a ship called the Sea Dragon. Lord Monford sends a hundred men to guard Jon and do as he commands. Ser Jaime heads for King's Landing to swear a false oath to the Usurper and then head back West. As He travels Jon learns to accept his Targaryen name more and more each day. Aegon spends the first few days keeping up his sword skills.

On the sixth day the ship is sailing pass the Island of Tarth. Aegon decides to use his blood to see into the fire. He cuts his hand and drips the blood into the flames when he is alone in his cabin. As before the flames turn blue and he sees his Grandfather the mad king force himself on a woman. Then the image changes and he watches as the same woman give birth to a son. As the image fades Aegon sees the sigil of House Lannister.

"Tyrion Lannister is a Targaryen." He whispers as the flames turn bright red and he sees Viserys and Daenarys again. She seems to be crying then Aegon becomes enraged when Viserys strikes his sister. The flames turn bright yellow, he sees a great battle in the snow, between the living and the dead. When the visions end Aegon decides to find his Aunt and Uncle before heading to High Garden.

On the ninth day at sea, they pass through the step stone Islands. Aegon also practices his Warging. He uses a bird that flies over the ship as it sails through the step stones. From the window of his Cabin he spots a shark and wargs it as well. There are rats on the ship, but he enjoys warging birds the most. The Captain turns the ship towards Lys to resupply the water and some of the food stores. Aegon wants to move on, but the crew and guards are allowed to go ashore and stretch their legs. Two days later they sail away from Lys. By the beginning of the fourth week they reach the broken continent of Old Valyria.

They sail to the largest Island among the broken pieces of land. The Captain and the crew stay on board while Jon goes ashore with all one hundred guards. They build a base camp on the beach with trenches and spiked bulwarks for protection against the stonemen. The stonemen on the Island had been driven mad by Greyscale they were infected with. After the camp is up they rest and sit around a fire eating and talking.

During the night a few Stonemen came near, them, but were repelled by the guards on watch with bow and arrow or fell into a spiked trench and died. At sunrise the Aegon and his men are up and eating. Those who had last watch would stay in the camp to rest while he set out with fifty men. After a mile into the dense Island jungle they are attacked by stonemen from all sides.

"Aim for the head!" Aegon yells as they hold them back with bow and arrows.

"They keep coming!" One, man yells.

When three of his men are taken by the stonemen, Aegon grows angry, suddenly his body bursts into fire and his armor melts away. He points his hand and a wave of flames incinerates Stonemen, trees burst into flames and rocks turn cherry red. When the fire is extinguished on his body he feints. As he sleeps Aegon dreams of his father and mother; and the life they could have had if Rhaegar would have won the war and overthrew his father.

He opens his eyes, "How long was out?" He asks sitting up.

"A few hours…It is pass high noon."

"I am hungry." He eats a large meal and then gets dressed.

"How did you do that?"

"I am the blood of the Dragon…Come my good men and do not fear." As they travel the men watch him in awe and wonder. When they stop to camp for the night, he decides to reveal his true identity to those who don't know, mainly Harold, Fynn, Kar, and Luther. The next day an hour before high noon they reach the city ruins Valyria. They break off into groups and after two hours Aegon's group finds a treasure horde.

Harold's group finds an armory filled with Valyrian weapons, swords, daggers, arrows, and spears. "What is it?" Fynn asks.

They are joined by Aegon, "A Dragonpit. Wait here." He commands and enters alone. There are Dragon skeletons inside, scales and burnt carcasses of animals fed to the Dragons that lived in the pit. But Aegon is drawn to a mound and uncovers it. He smiles at what he finds. There are three Dragon Eggs buried in what seems to a be a nest.

They make camp in the ruins and as soon as a fire is built Aegon places the black in the flames. The other two eggs are green and pale gold. After he eats Aegon draws his dagger and runs the blade across his hand. He drips the blood into the flames and they turn blue, then they turn red, and finally they yellow. When the flames die out a small screech comes from the ashes as a baby Dragon crawls out.

"Blood of my blood." The men say as they drop to their knees.

Aegon extends his bloody hand and the Dragon licks the blood. When he does the bond is established and the Dragon leaps up onto his shoulder. Over the next few days they load the weapons, treasure, and other things of value onto carts and take them to the ship. As Aegon looks among the swords they found, he spots an elaborate long sword. The sword has a cross guard in the shape of a dragon. The head and neck make up the pummel, the wings the cross guard and the tail goes up both sides of the sword to the middle of the blade. The Dragon's mouth is open and it has a red jewel coming out of it representing fire. He cleans the sword and names it Dragon's Fang.

What they could not bring they bury on the beach and set sail for Volantis. As the ship sets sail Aegon names his Dragon. "You shall be Rhodan, for my father Rhaegar." When Aegon tries to feed the Dragon it refuses the meat. So he cooks it first and then it eats. Sometimes he goes on deck with the Dragon drawing the attention of everyone on board.

DAENARYS TAGARYEN

Dany or that is what her brother calls her sadly sits in the saddle in front of him. Once again they had been driven from the home of another noble, because of Viserys' arrogance. And she had to listen to his rants of revenge on those who scorned them and how he would one day reclaim the glory of House Targaryen by fire and blood.

Finally he had gone quiet and she turns her thoughts inwardly; thinking about the kindly Knight who watched over them for many years. Ser Oswell Whent guarded the two royals until his death five years ago. Daenarys missed him so much and on many occasions he protected her from Viserys when he claimed he was waking the Dragon. After he died one of the servants gave Dany a letter. Ser Oswell had left it for her before he died.

My little Dragon

My Princess…My greatest regret is that I will not live to see you become the fierce woman I know you will be. Be strong my Princess…You are more Dragon than your brother despite what he says. I see your mother in your eyes. You are the blood of the Dragon and as many of your kin would say wake the Dragon…

No matter what your brother says do not believe everything he tells you.. If you can my Princess get away from him and do it quickly. Head to Dorne. They will watch over and protect you. When you are done with this letter burn it. It will only enrage your brother. I love you as if you were my own daughter and I pray to the gods old and new that you find happiness…

With love and regards

Ser Oswell Whent

Whenever she was sad, Dany would think on the letter and it would bring a smile to her face. "Dany!" She cringes at the sound of Viserys' voice. "What are you thinking about?"

"Ser Oswell…I miss him."

"Ser Oswell is dead! Do not waste your thoughts on him."

"Yes brother." Soon they reach the river and are able to buy passage on a river boat near the small village of Ar Noy to head south. As she travels Dany remembers the young man she saw in the flames, another secret she keeps from Viserys. That and the fact the she can put her hand in a fire and not be harmed or feel pain. It started when she six and sometimes she saw visions in the flames. They scared her and the only person she ever told about it was Ser Oswell.

After six weeks on the river and six stops in towns and villages they reach the Free City of Volantis. "There sure are a lot of slaves." She says from the back of the horse as Viserys leads it through the streets towards the market bridge.

"This city was actually, founded by the Dragon Lords of Old." He says.

Now that she did believe as she feels a connection to the city. They leave the Bridge Market and head towards the Black Gate which divides the city in half. Only the nobles and true born citizens of Volantis are allowed on East side of the city. Visiting dignitaries must stay on the west side until summoned by a noble on the other side. "Halt!" The Guard says.

"I am Viserys of House Targaryen…The rightful King of the Andels and the First Men. Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm…Please announce me."

The guards try not to laugh as the reputation of the Beggar King proceeds Viserys. "Prince Viserys!" A voice calls out. Dany looks to the owner of the voice and gasps. It is the young man she saw in the flames.

"My proper title is King! Now, tell me who you are to address me so?"

"My name is Aegon Targaryen the Seventh of his name…" As he speaks Dany can tell her brother is getting angry. "…Son of Prince Rhaegar and his wife Lyanna…"

"Liar!" Viserys yells.

He hands him the document of marriage, "I am sure you know your brother's handwriting." As Viserys reads the document, Aegon winks at her. He balls the paper up, "You expect me to believe this forgery?"

One of his guards picks up the balled up document, "You know it's not a forgery."

"Viserys brother…I believe him I…"

She goes quiet as he raises his hand, "Shut up! I didn't ask you a fucking thing!" The slap never comes as Aegon grabs his wrist.

"You will never strike her again." He says shoving Viserys. "I came to help you both, but all I see before me is mt Grandfather the Mad King born again."

"You are no Targaryen!" Viserys says drawing his sword.

"Viserys no!" Aegon easily blocks his moves. Then he strikes with all his might breaking Viserys' sword. He kicks him to the ground and steps on his chest. "Please don't kill my brother!" She begs.

She can tell Aegon is enraged, "A Dragon knows a Dragon." He says looking at her. Then he looks at Viserys, "You should thank your sister…For you have awakened the Dragon…And had she not spoken I would have turned kinslayer…" Aegon sheaths his sword and looks at his men. "Pick him and bind him with ropes." Then he looks at Daenarys again. "Princess…Aunt Daenarys…Would you come with me?"

"Yes and my brother?"

"He will not be harmed."

They head to the Sea Dragon and as they board the ship a Dragon flies down from rigging and lands on his shoulder. "Believe me now?" Aegon ask looking at Viserys.

"It is not possible."

She is taken to a large Cabin and is allowed to bathe and change clothes. When she is done Dany sends for Aegon. "We will be sailing soon are you comfortable?"

"Yes thank you."

He walks up to her, "You don't have to be afraid anymore."

"I'm not." She replies with a smile.

"Good I have something for you." He shows her the egg which had been behind his back.

"For me?"

"Yes…If you wish to hatch it. Fire and Blood…Do you understand?"

"Yes I do. Um…what is your Dragon's name?"

"Rhodan after my father."

She smiles, "After I hatch mine, I will name her Wendar after the Knight who protected us until his death." She places the egg in the fireplace and cuts her hand dripping the blood in the fire, but it does not hatch.

"How disappointing."

"What?"

"My egg hatched immediately…I was hoping yours would do the same."

That is when he smiles, "What?"

Arya had spoken to him mentally, "Nothing…You should try again tomorrow."

"Are you mad at me?"

He shakes his head and hugs her, "No I could never be mad at you."

She timidly walks the ship and everyone treats her with respect. The last time she was on a ship, she was a baby. Not counting the river boat she and Viserys spent six weeks on. Later she joins Aegon and the Captain for evening meal. "My brother?" She asks as the food is served.

"In his cabin under guard."

"What will become of him, if I may ask?"

"Ask me anything Dany. In regards to your brother, I am thinking…Maybe the Maesters of Old Town can help him."

She nods, "Where are we going?"

"High Garden and House Tyrell…Then Dorne…I have my Uncle's House…House Stark, the Tully's through my Uncle's wife…Many of the Crownland Houses…The Step Stone Lords…And the Lannisters." She goes quiet and eats her food. "If you are wondering, I intend to marry Lady Margaery Tyrell…"

"And you want me to marry someone from House Martell."

He sighs, "Dany I will not force you to do anything…I do ask you to meet Prince Doran's sons…If you don't fancy any of them you do not have to marry anyone."

She nods and goes to see her brother. His left hand shackled along with his left leg to a bolt in the floor. "So you've come to see me traitor!"

"I did not betray you Viserys…He is our kin. You must know this in your heart."

"I am your brother! You owe your loyalty to me…Not that mongrel!"

She cries and runs from the cabin to her cabin and drops on the bed falling asleep. As she sleeps Dany dreams…

"Hello!"

"Hello my kinswoman…"

"Who are you?"

"I am Aemon Targaryen…And I have come to help you wake the Dragon."

When she awakens Daenarys is covered in sweat. She sits up and looks at her hand. It had been healed from the earlier cut. She walks over to the fire place where the egg is and cuts her hand again. When she drips the blood into fire it turns bright red. She sees herself as an older woman sitting on a throne in a distant city. A Queen of her own hand and a man at her side, but she cannot see his face. When the flames die down the ashes start moving and a little gold and white Dragon rises up screeching.

She smiles as the Dragon flies into her arms. "My Dragon Wendar."

The next morning she and Aegon stand side by side as the two Dragons fly around each other playing. "Come I have something else to show you." They go down into the hold and he shows her the swords. "Pick one."

She looks at him, "I don't know how to use a sword."

"No time like the present to learn."

"Will you teach me?"

He nods, "Until I can find you a better teacher."

She smiles and tests nine swords in her hand and choses a hand and half sword. Then he takes her to his cabin and shows her the last Dragon egg. "Is this one for our Granduncle?"

"No…Its for your half-brother Tyrion Lannister…" She looks at him and he explains how Joanna Lannister was raped by the Mad King.

Afterwards she goes to see Viserys with her Dragon. He falls to his knees, "How?"

"He has three of them and gave me one…I hatched it late last night. Her name is Wendar after Ser Wendell."

"Dany am I not your brother? Free me and we take the Dragons."

She shakes her head, "You are my brother. And I love you…But I do not fear you anymore…A son of House Targaryen you may be, but you are no Dragon!"

"You Bitch! You little Bitch!" Wendar hisses at him and then she leaves. The next day before breaking their fast Dany gets her first sword lesson.
