You've probably seen this tag many many times, but this fanfic is trying to take that tag in a unique direction. This chapter won't show it off well, but I hope you at least get a general idea. Anyways, have fun reading!
"Let me get this straight…"
"Yes, sir?"
"You want to have a dangerous creature we know nothing about teach at a school?"
The Minister of Defense is sitting in his office, speaking to other agents. The room is extremely dark, however, on his desk is a lamp illuminating everything near it. In the dark corners of the room, bodyguards are seen armed and ready.
The two agents continue with their proposal.
"Yes… that was their plan." one of the agents says.
Silence ensued.
"...please do not be surprised when I refuse the proposal." the Minister says.
"Sir, we know it seems ridiculous." the other agent responds. "However, we weren't the ones who made this proposal. It was foreign governments, and they have reasons for saying what they said."
"Oh?"
"They said that the creature will not harm the students, and that the students will have close contact with the creature, so they will have chances to assassinate it. The creature agreed to these terms."
"I see…" the Minister said.
"The world governments are set on this proposal, they just need your approval in order to go along with it."
"...very well. I accept the proposal. The creature may go teach at Kunugigaoka Junior High, class 3-E."
In front of the Minister is a sheet of paper he places his signature onto.
"Thank you, sir."
"You are welcome, and you both are now dismissed."
The two agents left the premises. The Minister was now left to his own thoughts.
"That was certainly interesting. I still have my doubts, but I cannot disagree with Japan's allies. They must have put more thought and restrictions into it than what those agents told me."
"Very well, I'll see what comes of it. Now, what was that contract Keiji-san se-"
His train of thought was interrupted by… a strange feeling.
It was very minor, but from his decades of experience in the army and government, he could notice small things such as this. The bodyguards on the left were fidgeting slightly, then completely stopped moving at all.
Next came the ones on his back, and then finally on his right.
He thought it was just his mind playing tricks on him, however he decided it would be best to re-affirm what was going on.
"All o-"
Before he could finish his sentence, he saw a figure come out of the shadows.
It was a boy, no older than 15. He seemed to be short for his age, and had light blue hair.
That wasn't the part that caught the Minister's attention however. He seemed to be holding something in his right hand: a handgun.
The Minister couldn't even respond before the boy spoke.
"That's nine guards right? Sheesh, they're high ranking soldiers in the military, and they can't even figure out what was going on till it was too late?"
"How d-"
"That's not important. More importantly, you are probably wondering why your death is going to be caused by a 15 year old boy, correct?"
"Wai-"
"Think about it. The kill seems extremely clean, and none of these guards will remember anything when they wake up. Seem familiar? I won't interrupt you this time."
The Minister's face was that of confusion, until he realized what was going on, and it turned into shock.
"No, it can't be. A kid like you being the cause for so many murders. Who is making you do all this?"
"No one is. I'm Surprise, whether or not you want to accept that."
The Minister was silent for a short bit.
"...let's say you who you say you are. What business do you have killing me, and how do you expect to get out of this unscathed?" he responded.
"That's none of your business, and I have a question for you on the second point." the boy continued.
"Yes?"
"You see that button under your desk?"
There was a red button underneath the Minister's desk, right in reaching range whenever needed.
"You know this, but that button causes alarms to go off, alerting any nearby security personnel to the desk. Every minister has that, in case of emergency." the boy continued.
"Ar-"
"I dare you to press it. No seriously, you are going to die anyway, so may as well apprehend me along with it, correct?"
The Minister looked conflicted whilst the boy aimed the gun at his head.
"You press the button, I shoot. You opted for no cameras in your office for the sake of privacy. You're regretting that now, aren't you?"
The Minister's hand inched towards the button.
"Go ahead, press it. I like teasing my targets, but I don't have all day."
The Minister's finger was on the button, ready to press.
"You're almost there, cmon…"
The Minister, in quick succession, pressed the button and ducked at the same time.
BANG!
Alarm noises filled the facility.
Right as the Minister ducked, he could feel a bullet in his head. He collapsed.
"It was obvious you were going to do that. Whatever, time to frame himself."
The boy placed the gun on the desk, and moved the minister on top of the desk as well. He then placed a small piece of paper on the desk, near the body.
"...and now it's time to get out of here."
The boy jumped back into the vent he used to get in the room.
"It's currently lunch time for the security personnel in the building, and the cafeteria is on the other side of the building, so no one should come for another one and half minutes. This vent leads right to the right wall of the building, with guards patrolling the perimeter. However, they are currently at lunch as well, and the next shift is preoccupied with the alarms. That means I have a free path to the outside, and no one should notice do to the buildings relative isolation."
The boy jumped out of the vent, hopped the fence, and got out of the area.
He continued ru- actually, who am I fooling? Let's stop with the 3rd person.
Hi, my name's Shiota Nagisa. I'm just your average 15 year old junior high student, living with my mom in an apartment.
I'm also a world famous assassin known as Surprise, known for framing his victims' deaths as suicides or accidents. But that part isn't important, it's just a job I have.
You can probably tell this, but I just killed the Minister of Defense, By now, people have noticed, so I gotta go. No time to talk, sorry.
"BREAKING NEWS: Minister of Defense Tanaka Noriyori found dead in office today. We have little info at this point, but police are currently investigating the situations around the death. Stay tuned for more information."
In a small apartment, two people are sitting around a table eating dinner. One is my mom, Shiota Hiromi. The other one is me, and we're watching the news right now.
"BREAKING NEWS: We've just received an update on the situation, and the police are ruling the death as a suicide. No one claims to be a witness to the event. It is unknown whether the mysterious force known as 'Surprise' is behind this, but the intelligence agency has yet to make a conclusive statement. Now, in more news…" the news drones on.
Oh yeah, quick note but my existence is controversial, as some think my assassinations are actual suicides or accidents.
"I can't believe something like this happened yet again in our borders. Why have there been so many deaths like this recently?" my mom says.
One of those people being my mom.
"Well, it could be Surprise. The news has been talking about him a lot recently."
"Nagisa, honey, Surprise isn't a real person or thing. It's just a myth the government is using since they don't actually know what's going on."
If you can't tell, I want as many people as possible to know about me. It's just more fun that way.
"That could be true, but all the evidence points towards a mind behind these. Plus, what's with the large amounts of people going unconscious nearby the victim?"
"Nagisa, you just are misguided, you are just a kid who doesn't know what she's talking about. Now, it's time to go to bed."
It's currently 7 pm, but it doesn't matter anyways. I go to my room, lay down, and think.
What did that guy say? Something about my class having to assassinate some creature, who's also our teacher?
I'm not sure, but I want in.
Well, now it's the morning.
Yeah.
…
That was poorly paced, wasn't it?
Anyways, today was a Monday, so I have to go to class again. Schools sucks, but I hope all this 'assassination' business could make it fun.
I climb up a mountain behind our school. This is where class 3-E is, or the "End" class as some people call it. All the failures come here as examples for the rest of the school on what not to do.
It's a horrible idea in it itself, but I don't think the principal cares.
On top of the mountain is the building, a small shack looking structure. This is where all the facilities relating to our school reside, and it looks depressing to basically everyone.
As I enter the building, I notice familiar faces. However, there was one face I didn't recognize, a girl with green hair.
I walked up to her to talk, and immediately noticed something.
Why was a world famous child actress disguising to get into our class? I don't know, but everyone has their secrets.
"Uh, hello?"
Crap, I was out of it for too long.
"Oh hi, you're new right?"
"Yep, my name is Kayano Kaede."
That's not true, but I'll roll with it.
The rest of the day was quite cool. An octopus was our new teacher, and we have to assassinate it before it blows up earth. Sounds really cool, and I like it.
Why am I summarizing it here? Well, nothing of importance really happened besides that.
Oh yeah, we also get a 10 billion yen reward. Not that I really care, because I don't have anything to spend that 10 billion on.
This year is going to be quite interesting.
That was chapter 1! I plan to get these things out pretty regularly, since I'm a loser with nothing else to do (fuck high school, I'd rather do anything than study). My only complaints with this chapter is that it feels really edgy, and I don't want the story to be like that. I'll try to tone down the edginess in future chapters, it just felt necessary this time. Anyways, thanks for reading, and please review!
