This chapter is mainly getting to know Annabeth's parents, mainly Kerry. I got bored so I was just like, why not post another chapter? Please review! And for those of you who found me through the link I put on my Pinterest account, hello! And for those of you who are wondering what my Pinterest account is, it's @wise_gorl (I forget if they're uppercase or not) or you could use, - girl version of leo- (yes I know it's cringy). Anyways, enjoy the chapter!

The next few weeks went by smoothly. Percy and I became closer as well as me, Hazel, and Piper. The mall was a blast, we mostly browsed instead of actually buying anything. I ended up getting two scrunchies from Claire's. Monday came around and it was time for school again. It's been two weeks since the mall day and today, after school, me and the gang are going ice skating. It's come to that time of year. With Christmas right around the corner everyone is in a brighter mood. I got out of bed and dressed in the warmest clothes I have. I went to go look out the window, my breath fogging it up. Snow covered everything. It really was a winter wonderland, the kids across the street were building a snowman. Haven, the older one of the two, was holding up Phillip so he could put the carrot in. I smiled at their cuteness and made my way downstairs. The smell of bacon wafted in the air, Kerry must be making breakfast this morning. I dashed down only to find…dad making breakfast. I cautiously approached him, wondering what the catch was. He never does anything for me, only if he wants something. I pulled out a chair at the table and sat down, eyeing dad.

"Morning, Annabeth," he said, not turning around from the stove.

"Good morning?" I said with a little questioning in my tone. He brought over two plates filled with bacon, eggs, hash brown, and fruit. My stomach growled at the sight and smell of that delicious food. He set it down in front of me and took the chair on the other side. He took his fork and dug in. I didn't touch my food, still suspicious.

"What's the catch, dad?" I asked, unable to hold it in. He looked at me, a piece of egg hanging off of his beard.

"What do you mean?" He said, obviously confused.

"C'mon, dad...you know," I pushed, stabbing my hash browns with my fork. "You never seem to care anymore, why the sudden change?"

He put his fork down, his face showed that he had been expecting this question.

"I'm just…," he trailed off. "Annabeth, I love you and I want you to know that." And with that he ate the rest of his food and left for work. What was that? That was so random, why the sudden change of heart? Kerry must've gotten to him. I sat there thinking for a few minutes before I started to eat my food. Oh my gods, I didn't know dad was such a good cook! The bacon was just the right amount of crispy and floppy. The eggs had a runny yolk, just how I like it, and topped with salt and pepper. I finished my food in record time and yelled for Kerry so she could take me to school.

"Kerry! I need to get to school or I'll be late!"

I heard her running from the living room,

"Right! I almost forgot!"

We got in the car and started driving. For the first few minutes of the ride it was just silent. I watched the snow covered...everything wiz passed our car. Dad is being weird. I don't know what his deal is. Maybe...he is actually wanting to change.

"So, who's your little friend?" Kerry asked, not taking her eyes off of the road.

"My...little friend?" I said, confused, looking away from the window.

"Percy," she said casually, but I could tell she was already shipping us. She did the same with Rachel.

"Oh, we're just friends," I said quickly, looking back at the window so she wouldn't see the blush flourishing on my cheeks.

"I know you have feelings for him," she said, teasing me.

"I do not!" I said defensively. "Sure, he's hot-," I paused, mentally slapping myself. Argh! Did I really just say that? Kerry laughed triumphantly.

"Ha-ha! I knew it! I found a jacket in your bag the day after the sleepover and I knew it wasn't yours!" She said excitedly.

"I never said anything about a jacket!" I put up my hands in defense. She didn't respond but gave me a smug look, she is not letting this go until he dies or we get together.

"Ugh, whatever!" I said, annoyed and flustered. "Oh and me and my friends are going to the ice skating rink after school."

"Aw, That should be fun!" She said, "are you going to ride with Percy? Or should I drive you?" I could tell she wanted me to say no and that yes I will be riding with Percy but I was glad that I wasn't for once.

"No, in fact, I am not! I will be riding with Piper and Hazel!" I said smugly. Kerry looked disappointed but said no more. We pulled up at school and I saw that Piper and Hazel were waiting for me.

"Have a good day!" Kerry called as I hopped out of the car.

"Thanks, you too!" I ran over to Piper and Hazel. Piper looked a little crazed, I wonder what happened.

"Hey! What's wrong with Piper?" I asked as I approached them. Hazel covered her mouth suppressing a laugh and said,

"When Piper said that we were going to go wait for you out front Jason acknowledged and kissed her on the forehead before we left."

Ah, yes. Piper's little crush on Jason. I mean sure he was good looking, he had short blonde hair and crystal clear blue eyes, he was muscular, and an amazing person, but he would never top Percy-woah did I just say that? Ugh I'm becoming smitten.

"Oooh! Maybe he likes you!" I said excitedly. Piper looked like she was going to faint, she was fanning herself but she looked like she was in a daze.

"C'mon, we should probably get to class so we don't get detention," said Hazel as the warning bell rang.

We agreed and made our way to class.
