it was Halloween a few days ago! i hope you guys were social distancing...

she popped the movie in and pressed play, coming back to take her seat next to me on the floor. our backs against the back of her bed frame. i rolled my eyes at the sight of her hot chocolate still sitting there on her carpet. she kept insisting that she wanted to wait until it was a little cooler. it was probably cold at this point! i had already drank all of mine right when i poured it in. just something about the stinging feel in the back of your throat when you drink it.

the movie started and i rolled my eyes. it's already sappy. it started off with a blonde getting dumped by her boyfriend who's wearing a varsity jacket. so the dude is probably the popular guy. yuck. i can already guess how the movie is going to end.

cat picked a random movie her mom had in her collection so i haven't seen this one yet. cat said she hadn't watched it but i have a feeling she has. i could just tell by how she paused and widened her eyes when she said she didn't. i don't know why she would feel the need to lie about it though. maybe she wasn't even lying. either way, i didn't really care.

still, cat seems to be enjoying it though. she's finally drinking her hot chocolate, smiling. her brown eyes darting from place to place on the screen.

half the movie goes by and cat is unusually quiet. she's always asking pointless questions about the characters even though they are literally explaining it. i keep looking to her expecting to hear a question from her mouth, but no. nothing. she said a couple remarks, sure. but no questions. not even a, 'wait what did he say?' or a 'jadey, what's happening again?'

the blonde was now going to a party with the nerd she was using to get her jock boyfriend back. the idiot was drinking and driving.

when she got to the party she was already pitch black drunk. her jock boyfriend who was named 'evan' (of course) was already there. she saw evan kissing a random girl and the blonde got jealous. the blonde then lost track of her fake nerd boyfriend so she was looking to pull anyone in for a make out session to get back at evan. then she pulled herself into a girl and started kissing her.

my jaw stood agape for a moment before i put it back into its place. it's not that i had anything against gays, it was just unexpected. cat however had a different reaction. her face seemed almost redder than he hair. i internally laughed, she probably doesn't see that a lot.

she turned it me, blinking rapidly. "jadey do you think it's okay to date people of the same gender?" she asked suddenly. i didn't expect that would be her first question for me.

without even a second thought. "of course cat. there is not one thing wrong with loving someone, boy or girl. it's love all the same." i always hated when people said otherwise. how are you going to hate someone just because they love someone? it was ridiculous.

"well..how do you think they knew that they liked the same gender?" the movie was quickly becoming background noise.

why was she asking me this? i honestly did not know. at least i know she didn't ask me to assume anything, or mean anything negative. she's just genuinely a curious person all the time.

"i don't know cat. maybe they just kissed someone the same sex and just...realized? i don't know. y'know, about in high school is when people start to experiment what sexuality they are" i told her honestly what i knew. i figured that would satisfy her until she came back with yet another question.

"should i experiment?" she asked. i studied her for a second. her fingers twirling pieces of her hair. her face set in a look of innocence. but i swear there was something she was hiding behind her eyes.

"if that's what you want"

her lips curved upward ever so slightly that i could have easily missed it.

"i don't wanna be weird but...you're my best friend and i trust you. you trust me right?" she said awfully serious. too serious. i nodded.

"okay so..uhm..do think i-that i-..y'know.." i knew where she was going. she wanted to use me as her test subject. i knew i was with beck but if i did kiss cat it wouldn't really matter right? i'm only helping her. its not like i'll gain anything from it.

"you want to kiss me cat?" i asked trying to find something, anything in her brown eyes. i found myself moving a little closer to her. i could see her chest rise and fall a little quicker than before. she gave a weak half nod.

"y-yes"

my heart beat quickened fast. i could almost hear it as i trailed my eyes to her lips. so pink, so full, and welcoming. i closed my eyes when i felt cat squirming against me. our faces were already close so all i had to do was lean in a little closer to feel her lips. she didn't take no one time to start kissing back.

i couldn't help but compare it with beck. how soft her lips were compared to his. how she didn't have tiny subtle hairs poking at me above her lips like beck did, even after he shaved. i moved my arm around her neck, bringing her to the floor. i smoothly slipped my tongue to meet hers. i could taste the hot chocolate she had chugged 30 minutes before, i could taste all the candy she ate today in one. i hated candy, but this one. this one was so good.

i was only doing this for cat. she moaned into the kiss, the sound vibrating in my ears. the sound quickened my heartbeat more than what i didn't think was possible already. the sound made a 100 butterflies in my stomach go 'BOOM'

i have to remember, i'm doing this for cat. for cat. for cat. just for cat. i'm helping her out.

she pulled away with a gasp, her hands not bothered to move from my shoulder and neck. i breathed in and out to catch my breath, her doing the same. i wanted so badly for her to reconnect our kiss but she didn't. her face seemed to glow though, her eyes seemed brighter, even her hair looked like it was somehow brighter, too. i got off from on top of her slowly, thinking about what just happened. what if this ruins our friendship? i mean why would it..she didn't feel anything toward it. it was just for...an experiment.

"so?" i asked, trying to make it sound like nothing more than an innocent question. i just wanted to get rid of the silence between us. the longer we weren't talking the longer i felt that instead she was listening to my heartbeat jumping out of its place.

"you taste really good," she perked up.

thought i'd finally make them kiss for REAL this time. REVIEW! by the way, the story IS NOT done.
