Chapter 3

Emma's story with Neal began on a rainy sunday afternoon in Boston. She was working at a coffee shop at the time. Her job was easy enough and she found that it was actually fun to make coffee and get her mind off everything that had been going on. After getting out of the system at 18 she had been living on the streets for a while, stealing her way through life as she tried to make a better life for herself. It seemed simple enough but jobs weren't easy to come by. Luckily for her an older lady had taken pity on her during her interview and given her a job which meant she was able to work full time and afford a tiny studio apartment in one of the worst neighbourhoods in Boston. But at least it was a place she could call home, a place where she could sleep at every night and where she could perhaps start fresh. It was not much, but it was hers and at 20 that was all she really wanted, a place to call her own.

The day had hardly started when a handsome young man came in. He was cute and he tried flirting with her but Emma had one rule, never give your heart to someone that could break it. Sadly, she had broken that rule for him and it had only proved to her why she had that rule in the first place...

It turned out his name was Neal and he had not just come in for a coffee and a flirt. While Emma was working on his coffee he had quickly moved his hand over the counter and opened the register. Emma was just in time to catch him grabbing a hand full of cash from the register before he bolted for the door, but he had made a big mistake if he thought he could run from Emma Swan. If there was one thing she was good at, it was chasing someone who had stolen something. She had been in more than one foster home where the other kids would constantly steal her things and she had chased them around the house and yard many times. So without hesitating she called out to Diana, the kind old lady who had hired her and also her boss, to watch the shop and she ran after him. He was fast, but she was faster and within a street she had caught him, kicking him in the knee from behind and making him fall flat on his face which had given him a bloody nose but she could not care less.

Emma was a very tough cookie and she had practically dragged him by his hair and pulled him with her, back to the coffee shop where she forced him to return the money and apologize to Diana, who was incredibly impressed with Emma's loyalty and quick reaction. They debated on whether or not to call the police as they locked the guy in the back but he had only stolen 20 dollars and Emma took pity on the guy. He seemed about her age and she knew how tough life could be if you were born in unfortunate circumstances. So she had taken it upon herself to talk to him, see if he felt any remorse at all for his crimes and perhaps they would not have to call the police.

She found out his name was Neal and like she had guessed, he came from a similar situation as she did. Abandoned by his father and living on the streets for most of his life, she could sympathize with that. But she could not accept him just stealing without giving him any kind of a second chance. Emma was not usually one to take chances on people. She had been disappointed by humanity more than enough times to know better than to trust a stranger, but Neal had gotten under her skin in the few minutes she had talked to him. He touched something in her that had been locked away before and something told her to give him a chance like Diana had once given her.

So she talked to Diana about what to do with the guy and suggested that perhaps he could get a job with her husband. Diana's husband owned a garage and Neal had told her he was good with cars so perhaps he could get a job there, earn some money and get off the streets. Sometimes the only thing people needed was a second chance and someone to believe in them, perhaps Emma could be that person for Neal.

And so it happened that Neal got a job with Gary, Diana's husband, and he actually became good friends with the two women working at the coffee shop. He came by every day on his lunchbreak to get some coffee and chat with them a bit. Emma found that she started to like him more and more with each conversation they had but she still kept her heart guarded. It just so happened that Neal was extremely good at peeling the layers from her shell and eventually he got her to agree to a date. Well it wasn't so much as a date, more like having lunch together at the coffee shop she worked at but it was a start.

From that moment they fell into a comfortable routine that developed into a relationship and for the first time in her life, Emma could see herself growing old with a man. He seemed to want to do better and to go to college, get a better job and an actual house for them. They could eventually get married, have kids and actually be a family.

They could have been that family, Emma had given him everything to be that family with him but sadly, the happy bliss of their new relationship could not last forever. Head over heels in love she had allowed him to move in to her small apartment only two months after they started dating and from then on everything just went south. The first weeks were amazing and she thought they were a genuinely good couple but then it started happening. He came home drunk one night and when Emma dared ask him about it he slapped her hard across the face. He had been so apologetic afterwards, telling her how much he loved her and that he had not meant it that way. Emma still blamed herself for not leaving that night, but actually choosing to believe the lies he fed her.

Because it was not just that one time. The man she had let into her life, her heart and the only home she had ever known, was not the man she thought him to be. The slapping turned into beatings and like he had broken down her walls he was now breaking down her spirit. She had fought back in the beginning, never being the one to back down easily, but he was so much stronger than her and his words along with his fists had managed to break her completely. She turned into a shell of the person she had once been and Diana noticed. She had asked Emma time and time again if everything was alright but Emma couldn't admit to her that she needed help. Her stupid pride got in the way of her asking for help. She thought she could fix it, that she was better off handling it on her own and the truth of the matter was, she couldn't.

She was 23 when she got pregnant and for a while she thought that everything might change. She had told Neal he had to change his ways or she would leave and take the baby with her. That seemed to do it for him because he went sober for the first 6 months of her pregnancy and actually helped out. He was so sweet and loving, back to the man she always knew him to be and he loved talking to the baby, caressing her baby bump and buying things for the baby, especially once they found out they were going to have a girl. He had always told her he wanted a son but he settled for a girl pretty quickly. However, these moments never lasted and somewhere around her 7th month she realised things were spiraling out of control again and this time it was worse. She had another life to protect, to care for, and Neals temper was worse than it had ever been.

He was out in a bar somewhere the night she went into labor and she had called Diana who had taken her to the hospital. When she was admitted and the nurse helped her into her hospital gown she had noticed the black and blue bruises on her back and her chest. Neal always made sure never to bruise her in spots that were not easily covered so no one would suspect anything was wrong. The nurse had calmly asked Emma about the bruises but Emma had immediately panicked and told her it was nothing and she was just clumsy. Even in that moment, when help was so close, she could not accept it. Perhaps it would have been so much easier and better if she had just told the nurse the truth...

Early in the morning, on July 24th, Hazel Rose Swan was born and Emma knew she could never feel more love for another human being than she felt for her little baby girl the first time she held her in her arms. She was absolutely perfect and Emma had to admit she let out a sigh of relief when the baby seemed to look exactly like her and not like Neal. She would be damned if Neal would have any sort of power over her so she had given her the last name Swan, giving herself an easy way out if she ever needed it.

It turned out that she would need that way out a few weeks later. Life with a newborn had proved to be a lot harder than she had originally thought and Neal was not making it easier on her. He refused to get out of bed in the middle of the night and help out with the baby. Instead he would find it incredibly annoying every time Hazel would cry and after a few weeks he lost it when Hazel started crying after she had just been fed. Within a second Emma could see him fly up from the couch and storm to the nursery and before she knew it she was right there in front of the door. She would not let him get into that nursery in that state of rage. All her maternal instincts were calling to her to protect her baby and that she did.

His rage was now turned towards her but instead of beating her like he normally did he grabbed a pocketknife he always had with him. He had promised he would just check on the baby if she would just let him pass but she cried out for him to stop, to put the knife away and just let them be. Emma took only one step forward to take the knife from him and within a second she felt a sharp pain in her side. He had stabbed her. The son of a bitch had actually stabbed her. She gasped and grabbed onto her side as Neals eyes widened in shock when he realised what he had done. He had acted without thinking once again and as he cried and apologized a thousand times, he called 911.

Luckily, no vital organs had been hit and it had only been a pocketknife but she was left with a permanent scar from what had happened to her, one on her skin and one in her heart. During her stay at the hospital she had told Neal to move out and he had. He had taken his distance from her as the baby stayed with her in the hospital. once she was out she took it to court, wanting to make sure he could never hurt her or her baby ever again. It was an easy case to win as the evidence was piled up aganst him and he lost all custody to Hazel. The judge granted her full custody and ordered Neal to pay her 100.000 dollars to make up for the damage he had done with years of abuse and almost killing her. Neal had to take out a loan to pay her but she got the money eventually. It had been enough for her to start over and move out of Boston. She needed a new life in a new town and when looking through apartments and houses in different small towns she found the perfect one, in Storybrooke. So she packed up her things and thanked Diana for everything she had done for her, telling her to come visit whenever she wanted. Diana really was the only person who had ever cared about her and she was thankful that the woman had given her a second chance once.

Without looking back she took her yellow bug, which fit her entire life and Hazel's, took her baby girl and the drove off to Storybrooke. Real estate turned out to be quite cheap compared to Boston and she was able to buy herself a beautiful small house that was perfect for the two of them. Withing a few days she had found a job as deputy sheriff of David Nolan who was quite impressed with her story and wanted to give her a chance. Now, years later, she had build a good life for her and Hazel. She had friends, her daughter, a job and a house, but there was a darker side. She also had scars that she feared would never heal. Things she would never forget, nightmares that plagued her and wounds that would never stop bleeding, but Emma Swan was not a quitter. She might be broken but not unfixable, even if she believed herself to be.

'So you're sure Emma will like this surprise?' Elsa sounded quite hesitant as she helped Ruby decorate Granny's. The others were helping out with getting the food and drinks ready for Emma's 28th birthday party. The only one missing was Mary Margaret, who had taken Emma on a spa day and who would be here any minute now with Emma.

'I'm pretty sure she already knows we are hosting a surprise party for her so if she really didn't want it then she should have told me' Ruby argued.

'Well lass in all fairness, she did say she hated her birthday' Killian interfered as he put the lasagna on the table.

'She always says that but then she ends up enjoying it anyways'

'I just hope you're right' Elsa sighed as they continued hanging the decorations. Killian hadn't seen much of Emma that week. They had talked when they were dropping the kids off at school or when they were getting them and Hazel had come over once for a playdate. But other than some harmless flirting and a bit of a chat about the weather they had not really gotten anywhere, not that Killian really wanted it to lead somewhere. He was not looking for a new relationship, especially not since his Milah had only died just over a year ago, but friends with some benefits definitely sounded like a good deal to him. She was already keen on flirting with him, so perhaps he would be able to persuade her. After all they were human, they both had their needs and being a single parent did not make for a great sex life most of the time.

Emma and Mary Margaret arrived just as they finished decorating and a loud cheer of 'SURPRISE!' was chanted as Emma's eyes grew twice their size. Sure, she had expected some small get together at Granny's, but not a party with all of their friends. She took it all in for a moment as she dared say something. Everyone seemed so anxious to see if she liked the surprise that Killian had to hold back a chuckle. It became very clear that Emma Swan was not one for surprises just by watching everyone's reaction.

'I- did you guys really do this for me? You know I am not one for big parties!' Emma sighed but she did not want to seem ungrateful so she forced a smile that turned into a real one when she heard Elsa's response.

'We wanted to do something for you as your friends Emma, you may not think your birthday is worth celebrating but we certainly do'

'And another good thing, it's a kid free party' Killian mentioned as the grin on her face grew while Ruby handed her a beer.

'Well it's been way too long since I've had one of those. I actually might enjoy myself' she teased and a small chuckle went through the crowd of friends before everyone got to congratulating Emma and giving her gifts or just finding someone to talk to or something to eat. As Killian had observed the group of friends throughout the week he had come to the conclusion that they truly did try to find moments where they could all get together and hang out as a group. However, the kids would be there most of the time and that did give off a different atmosphere so it had actually been Killian who had suggested the party to be without the kids. He felt more and more like the group was accepting him and he was actually getting used to living in this small town.

He was planning on going over to Emma to congratulate her but she seemed so overwhelmed that perhaps somewhere later that evening was a better option, after all he was the one she knew the least about. They had known each other for barely a week and mostly just flirted when they saw each other so there was not really much that could be expected from him. About an hour into the party Emma finally found her way to him as he sat at the bar and sipped his rum, having a quiet moment after a discussion with Robin about a football game the night before. He slowly sipped his drink as Emma took a seat next to him and grabbed another beer.

'You are the only one who has yet to wish me a happy birthday'

'Your birthday is almost over already Swan, got about two hours left' he teased and gave her a side grin.

'You know what I mean'

'Well you seemed quite overwhelmed there and then you were swarmed by your friends, so I did not want to interrupt'

'You're my friend as well, I don't mind you interrupting... but thanks'

It was strange that she called him her friend because something inside him stirred up, telling him he wanted more than just being her friend. Which was ridiculous of course. She had walls higher than the Empire state building and he was more damaged than any man she had probably ever met before. It was the worst match that could possibly be made, which was exactly why it could be a good match if he was being honest.

'I still owe you a gift Swan'

'You got me a gift? You really didn't have to, you barely know me..' Emma softly sighed and she turned to face him as he gave her that teasing grin that made her feel weak in the knees.

'I know, but I am your friend as you so kindly put it so I could not turn up empty handed. I was raised better than that' this earned him a chuckle from his favorite Swan.

'So what is it you brought me then?'

'It's not really a gift you can bring to a party, it's more like a promise... free drinks for life'

Now her eyebrows really shot up 'free drinks for life? Where?' she laughed, thinking it was a joke but Killians face was serious.

'The Jolly Roger'

'What the fuck is the Jolly Roger'

'It's my bar'

'You own a bar?' Emma's jaw nearly hit the floor as he so casually told her that he owned a bar. He slowly sipped his rum as he nodded and decided to take a moment before elaborating further onto the subject.

'Aye, I signed the contract today. Nice little basement at the end of the street is now mine. I suspect we'll be able to open in a few weeks time'

'I didn't know you knew how to run a bar'

'Oh love, there's a lot you don't know about me... yet' the way he almost spat out the 't' in that ridiculously hot accent of his made her feel all foggy inside. Perhaps it was the beers talking but he was getting hotter by the minute and she knew that a real good birthday present would be him making her cum multiple times tonight. She did not say it out loud of course.

'Liam told me the kid free party was your idea, gotta admit... it may be the best surprise of the evening' she grabbed a glass of rum this time, joining Killian in a stronger drink to kick the edge off.

'Aye, I thought you could use a little break'

'I sure did, don't get me wrong I love Hazel more than anything but sometimes it's just so nice to be around adults instead of having to listen to Frozen in the car and watching the same movies over and over again'

Killian chuckled as he joined in 'if I have to hear Let it go one more time I might just burn that dvd. I have tried buying Charlotte new movies and listening to new music but she always comes back to Frozen, especially since the second movie came out'

'I'm confident I have seen is about six billion times by now, that snowman haunts me in my dreams'

They shared a genuine laugh as they talked about their daughters. It was so much fun to finally let go and just laugh with someone she really had a connection with. Not to mention it took her mind of the note she had received from Neal. He had promised her that he would find her and though she had tried not to let it get to her, it just kept echoing in her mind. So this night was a welcome distraction. She just dreaded having to go home late tonight because she knew she would go back to her dark place where her fears for Neal and what could happen would take over. Maybe that was why she was drinking so much.

Two glasses of rum later the two of them were still talking, laughing every now and then but also discussing more serious stuff. The real serious stuff came when Killian dared ask her why she had been so distant that week.

'I've noticed something changed halfway through the week Swan. Did anything happen?' Killian dared ask her and Emma sighed as she turned her gaze away from him. She remembered what she had told herself, that she had to open up to people. It was the only way they would be able to protect her, no matter how hard opening up really was.

She took a deep breath before she started 'I got a letter this week'

'Not a good one I gather?' it was nice how Killian always dared to ask about the things that mattered and that he did not talk around it. He just asked if the letter was bad and she liked his honest questions.

'It was from my ex'

'Hazels father?' Killian tried and Emma nodded.

'Yes, Neal... he told me he missed me and that he wanted to see Hazel. That I couldn't keep her away from him and he would come here to find us'

'Bloody hell Swan, why didn't you say anything?' Killian was definitely worried now. Whatever this Neal guy had done to her, it had made her never want to speak to him again and Hazel did not even know him so it must have been bad.

'Because no one really knows the full story' she burst and she glared at him 'I never told anyone about it before'

'Well love you don't have to tell me if you don't feel ready'

'I want to tell you but it's... complicated. Maybe I'll tell you the full story one day. All that matters now is that he somehow figured out where I live and he wants to come here, to Storybrooke. Hazel does not even know who he is, and I intent to keep it that way'

'You don't have to worry about that Swan, if he is standing on your doorstep just call me and I will be there for you... if you need the help of course. I'm pretty sure you could kick his ass without my help but... just in case, you can always call. You have my number' he promised. His heart jumped a bit when Emma gave him the most fragile look he had ever seen from her.

'You'd really do that for me? You'd come if I called you?'

'Whatever hour of the day love' he promised again, his bright blue eyes finding her green ones and their eyes sealed the promise. Whatever had happened during that moment of eyecontact, it was something that shook Emma to her core and somehow she could not stay away from Killian, no matter how badly she wanted it. As the night went on and they drank more and more it was harder to stay away until Emma pulled Killian to the backroom of Grannys, blushing a bit as she glanced up at him in her tipsy state.

'We understand each other, you and I. We are both not ready for a relationship but we want sex right?' she decided to cut right to the chase and it clearly caught Killian by surprise as he swallowed thickly and nodded.

'Aye... why do you ask love?'

'Well I don't... like being alone on my birthday and Hazel is sleeping over at Ashley's since she is babysitting her. So perhaps you'd like a nightcap?' she decided this sounded better than asking him if he wanted to come home with her to fuck her brains out. Though she was quite sure he would have said yes to that as well.

Killians mouth went dry when he realised what she was offering. Was it just the alcohol or was it a genuine offer she also would have made if she had not been drinking? Either way, he would be crazy if he refused an offer like this wiht a woman he had been flirting with all week so he nodded.

'Aye, I'd like that' he softly purred as he took a step closer to her and grinned as her eyes found his. 'I knew you'd come to me eventually Swan'

'Don't let it go to your head Killian, now I will go home and you'll wait 15 minutes before you leave too and come to my house alright? I'll text you the address'

It was clear she did not want anyone to know that they were heading to her house, which was fine by him. He was new in town after all and the last thing he wanted was for rumors to follow him around after a week of moving in. So he let Emma go ahead while he texted the babysitter to ask if Charlotte could spend the night and he would pay double, which was not a problem at all once he had offered double the money. He wasn't sure if Emma was the type that would let a guy sleep over after sex but he would rather take the risk than having to worry about getting home in time for the babysitter. If she truly wanted sex that he was going to make sure to take his time with her.

Once Emma got home she quickly made sure that her house was a bit more tidy than it usually was, cleaning some of Hazels toys from the floor but she stopped in the middle of it. Why was she even bothered what Killian would think of her home? If she had only invited him for sex than surely it wouldn't matter what her house looked like right? She convinced herself there was nothing more to it than sex so she quickly grabbed a bottle of rum and two glasses before the doorbell rang and she opened up with a sweet smirk on her lips.

'Look what the cat dragged in' she purred sweetly and Killian chuckled as he walked through the door.

'I thought you didn't like cats'

'I'll make an exception for you'

'Your home is very quaint. It's very... Emma' Killian commented as he looked around whilst Emma took him to the living room for another glass of rum. She had lost count of how much she had been drinking that night, but it was more than enough for her rules to be out the window. After all, the man looked extremely sexy as he walked over to the couch, a little hesitant and yet very confident.

'What does that mean? Emma?' she curiously asked as she poured them both a glass of rum.

'Messy but tidy in places that matter to you. You clearly think a house needs a heart, which in this case is the living room as you have spend a lot more time decorating it than the kitchen for example'

She was staring at him in disbelief, wondering just how he had figured her out so quickly 'told you, you're an open book love'

Killian took the glass and held it up 'to your birthday'

'and a night we won't forget' Emma added which made Killians eyebrows cock in the most teasing way.

'Really Swan? And just what will make this a night we won't forget?'

'You'll have to stay to find out'

The entire bottle of rum was empty within an hour and it allowed Emma to loosen up more than she usually would have if she had a man over at her house for the first tine. Granted, she never really had any man over romantically as she always went to their house or met up somewhere but this was a very nice change. Killian was extremely easy to talk to, almost too easy. She found herself opening up to him in ways she had never imagined she would ever open up in this short amount of time that she had known him. Emma blamed the alcohol, but she knew there was a part of her that actually liked trusting someone again and feeling safe and protected with Killian might have been what she had been after for years now.

The more they drank, the closer they got on the couch and the more they allowed their hands to rest on the others knee or leg. It were those simple touches that made Emma feel like her skin was on fire as they joked around and laughed.

'Wait so you actually woke up in a zoo? In the penguin enclosure?' Emma was almost rolling off the couch with laughter at the story Killian told her about an extremely drunken night out back in Chicago when he was still in college.

'Swear to God, I woke up soaked with a penguin sitting on top of me. The zoo made me pay quite a generous sum of money for the 'damage' I had done to the animals and the fence whilst breaking in' Killian chuckled along with her, feeling happy about making her laugh. She even had a cute snort when she laughed really hard like she was doing now. Perhaps his new mission in life would have to be making her laugh like that because he was sure it was the most adorable noise he had ever heard. As Emma calmed down but still giggled a bit Killian knew he could not hold back any longer. They had been playing around for far too long and it was time for action. So he leaned in and without hesitating his lips found hers.

It took Emma by surprise at first but once she felt how soft and warm his lips were she completely melted into him. She leaned in closer and deepened the kiss as she grabbed him by his shirt in order to get as close to him as she could. The kiss was rapidly getting more and more heated until Killian was starting to push her on her back but Emma pulled away.

'I could never look Hazel in the eye if she was sitting on this couch after we fucked here' she giggled softly against his lips as Killian pouted from the loss of her lips. 'So we should move this some place else' she purred and bit his lower lip for a moment before jumping up from the couch.

With a teasing swing of her hips she made her way up the stairs, leaving behind a trail over clothes on her way and within seconds Killian was up to follow her.

'Bloody minx' he mumbled as he followed her up the stairs and noticed all the discarted pieces of clothing. He followed the clothes to a room on the end of the hall which seemed to be her bedroom. His suspicions were confirmed when he walked in and Emma was lying on her stomach on her large king sized bed, dressed in only her lingerie.

'Are you trying to kill me woman?' Killian growled as he walked up to her whilst taking off his shirt, not wanting to waste any more time in more clothes than he absolutely had to.

'It would be a sweet way to go, wouldn't it?' she purred as she got on all fours and crawled towards the end of the bed where he was standing. She sat up on her knees and wrapped her arms around his neck as she kissed him deeply. A sweet moan escaped her lips as she leaned back and she pulled him on top of her, letting Killian crawl onto the bed with her as his hands found her waist and quickly traveled up to her breasts.

'The absolute sweetest way to go, in the arms of a bloody siren' he growled against his lips as his hand moved to her back and unclipped her bra with quite some skill for someone who had one hand and a prostetic. Her bra was quickly discarded as her hands worked on his jeans and quickly pushed them off. Killian helped her by kicking off his shoes and jeans all the way to reveal he was already rock hard for her.

'Fuck Killian' she mumbled when she felt him against her and she had to admit she was not disappointed with his size. Sweet little moans escaped her lips when he kissed down her neck and grinded into her as his hand worshipped her perfectly rounded breasts. His lips quickly found her nipple and her back arched with pleasure as he softly sucked on it whilst he took off her lace panties. At last he had her completely bare for him and he had to admit, she was even more glorious than he had imagined her to be.

'You really are a siren Swan' he whispered as he looked over her and she chuckled.

'Stop complimenting me and fuck me Killian' she impatiently demanded as she sat up a bit and rolled them over so she was on top. She was very tipsy and horny so she just wanted to get the show on the road. Her fingers pushed down his boers, letting his cock spring free and her hand wrapped around his impressive length as her lips attached themselves to his neck. It earned her some very deep, lustfilled groans from the man himself as his hand ran down her back and found her delicious ass.

'Now you're the one teasing me love' he shot back at her as he slapped her ass hard which caused her to bite his neck softly. He seemed to know exactly what she liked and her hand quickly stroked him to get him even harder before she sat up on top of him as she positioned him underneath her. He looked up at her, completely wrecked already but unbelievably sexy.

'I have a condom' he suggested but Emma quickly stopped him.

'I've got it covered' she leaned in and kissed him deeply as she sunk down on him, thrusting him deep inside her. They both let out a liberated moan when they were finally one and Emma made quick work of taking him as deep as she could while his hips moved in sync with hers. Killian had enough of her taking the lead so he grabbed her waist and rolled them over agressively. His thrusts became more rough as he picked up the pace but Emma loved every second of it. He rested his face in the crook of her neck as he held her waist tight and her hands were buried in his hair, pulling his dark locks hard as she completely surrendered to him. It quickly became clear that they were both into the hard, rough kind of sex, maybe because that required the least amount of feelings and emotions. But they managed to thoroughly satisfy and exhaust each other over the course of the next few hours.

It was impressive how many rounds Killian could go for and Killian in return had never found a woman so willing to go for multiple rounds and orgasms. He really was good at making her cum, always taking care of her needs as well as his, no matter what position they tried. By the time they were finished it was far too cruel to send him home so Emma decided he was allowed to sleep over, though they would have to talk about it in the morning. These were things she normally didn't allow, but the alcohol had made her brain all foggy and she did not want to deal with her rules now.

When she lay in his arms after their final round she softly stroked the stump on his arm. He had taken off his prostetic hand just a moment before and she was impressed he felt comfortable enough already to show her such a vulnerable part of him. To say thank you in her own way she leaned in and softly kissed the stump before settling against his chest again.

'You never told me how you lost the hand' she softly whispered as she was already half asleep.

'You never told me how you got the scar' he commented in return and his fingers found the scar on her side.

'Fair point' Emma admitted as her eyes fluttered shut, barely able to speak anymore 'those are stories for another day'

Killian chuckled and pulled her close as he felt himself drifting off to sleep as well 'aye love, another day'

With that promise they fell asleep. Since the following day was a sunday they had not set an alarm and they were able to sleep in. Normally Emma was awake quite early in the mornings since she had a four year old who liked to cuddle in bed with her around 6 in the morning, but the alcohol had knocked her out good and she was woken by the doorbell around 10.

Whoever was at the door sounded impatient as the doorbell was ringing multiple times so Emma groaned and eventually got up from her comfortable cocoon she had created with Killian. Her head was killing her and she cursed herself for drinking so much the night before. She glanced back at Killian who was rolling over and slowly waking as she walked around the room and quickly put on sweatpants and Killians white shirt from the night before as it was the first thing she could find.

'I'm coming, I'm coming!' she growled at the door as she rushed down the stairs as quick as she could with her headache slowing her down. She wasn't expecting anyone so whoever was at the door better had a fucking good explanation as to why they were there. With an angry look on her face she opened the door, but the anger quickly changed into surprise and her heart skipped a beat in fear when she realised who was standing in front of her.

'Hi Ems'

'Neal...'

Not a lot of the kids in this chapter BUT some drama and a backstory for Neal and Emma so I hope I still met your needs ;)
