Inspiration: "You'll Be Back" from Hamilton…. You were warned.
…..
Long fingers were spread across pale skin of a bony face, while the elbow was perched upon the decrepit thrown made from the bones of demon unworthy of joining with the body currently sitting on it. A heavy sigh expelled from this being. They closed their dark shaded eyes. The hand moved then to pull some of the long wavy locks behind his ears, before balling into a fist and returning to the side of his face. A dull bored voice reached the ears of his underling that was forced to stay there till he was ready for her to make another move.
"You did meet with them, did you not?"
"Of course, Naraku. I came back with Inuyasha's scent on me from that damn 'Blades of Blood' he does."
"It's just-"
"It's just what," she said frustratingly, turning around and placing her hands on her hips. "You don't believe me?"
He opened his eyes, revealing his glowing red eyes. "Kagura, I don't have a reason to most of the time. But, in this case, I must."
Red eyes shown back at him, as she scrunched her face. She flung one of her arms out, holding her hand out to him. The sudden move made the jewelry in her hair jingle. "Then, what is it?"
Naraku moved his hand away to grip the arm of the chair. He pulled himself forward and looked at the floor in front of him.
"It's jus-It's been days, Kagura. They should have been here by now. They come to see if they can get my guard down. I surprise them with a flash of a stronger barrier. Then after damaging one of them badly, I laugh in a swirl of miasma. Then we're gone." He slammed a fist against the throne, breaking bones soaked in said miasma in the process. "So, why aren't they here!?"
Kagura raised a brow, quite confused by this reaction-At first.
"Don't they know how much I do to plan these things!? I must do research! Be one step ahead of them in knowing any potential new powers." He slapped a hand on his chest and growled this at Kagura. "Do you know how hard that is when someone is LITERALLY-"
"FrOm ThE FuTuRe," both said in unison, only Naraku louder and Kagura more mockingly.
"Yes, I know, Naraku! You've complained about this many times now!"
He stood up suddenly. "Well it is still true!" He twirled around to face the thrown and held his arms to his chest like a pouting child. He mumbled softly," Don't they care anymore?"
There was a pause, while Kagura rolled her eyes and reminded herself once again that she lost her heart to this idiot…literally. After a while, she sighed heavily.
"Do you want me to go check on them?"
He bent his body backward, trying to look at her with his head flung slightly back and to his right side. He did not wish to bother to turn fully around, still upset. "…Would you?" He looked like he would almost tear up.
Before she might see an emotional storm, she begrudgingly pulled a feather out of her hair, used her abilities to grow it out, and flew right out of there. After she was far enough away to be out of earshot, she mumbled to herself. "I swear, the longer he keeps them alive the weirder he gets! Maybe he should stop absorbing so many demons." She grinned then. "Although, if he keeps going like this, I might be able to get my heart back without anyone's help."
….
Kagura landed in front of the group that plagued her owner, ready for a battle. But instead, they seemed to ignore her and started walking another way. "Wh-what is-?"
….
Naraku was laying across his throne when Kagura returned. He could smell the scent of the future priestess on her, and this intrigued him. He legs bounced up and down as he tried to hide how giddy he was. He turned his head to look at her. "So, they are coming then, yes? Did you kidnap the wench? Did you?"
"No, I didn't."
He saw the perplexed look on her face, and he turned and sat up. "Wh-what happened?"
"…They told me….The wench, as you call her, told me they had 'better fish to fry'…" She brought shaking claws up to look at them herself. It had struck her to her core. "And then-And then she hugged me! She said it was just them and not us!"
Naraku's eyes widen and he stood up. "What the hell does that mean!?"
Kagura screamed out," I don't know! I don't understand half of what come out of that human's mouth!? But they are most certainly not coming; I can tell you that much!"
"What did you tell them," responded Naraku, aura flaring around him.
In a high-pitched squeal of frustration," Nothing! Absolutely nothing!"
"Nothing!?"
"Nothing!"
They both screamed out their frustration loud enough to bring Kanna into the room to look at them. Naraku fell back into his throne. Thoughts rolled around in his head. 'What did I do wrong? Did we send the wrong message? Are they getting… bored of me? No, that can't be it. No, it has to be-'
"Their having an affair!"
Kagura and Kanna both said," What?"
"What is that supposed to mean, Naraku," said Kagura.
"Just that! They are dipping their toes in with another villain. Well, we can't have that, can we?"
The tone in his voice made the two demonesses stare worriedly at each other.
"Naraku," question Kagura starting to wonder if it truly was him.
He leaned both elbows on the chair, his fingers coming up to press softly against his lips. He smirked. "We'll just have to kill this new development. Or better yet, form it with my very soul. Then they'll have to come crawling back to me!"
"He's lost again, Kagura. Let's just leave him in his throne for a while," spoke Kanna. Maniacal laugher sprouted forth from the seat. This insanity looked like it would go on for a while. So, Kagura shrugged her shoulder and followed the ghostly child to another room and discuss what might be happening to their owner.
"Yes, yes! You'll be back, Inuyasha! And we'll be fighting the good fight yet again!" His voice grew faint soon after that. "Don't leave me alone…."
