Chapter 5 Before Happy Ever After part 5 (Rapunzel Sneaks Out)
While all that was going on. The girls where sneaking out of the castle. Cassandra was in the lead followed by Rapunzel then Valor.
Quietly Cassandra opens up a door. Holding up a lantern. The light illuminates a green glow. Valor shuts the door while Cassandra moves a box from the wall. Then pulls the banner back.
Rapunzel squeals seeing it. "Is that a secret passage?!" "Shh." Valor hissed pressings her ginger to her lips. "Quiet." She warns her as Rapnuzel runs to it.
The banner falls over Cassandra's head. "It was." Her voice muffled by the banner. "Before you announced it to the whole cast..tle.."Cassandra pulls the banner off.
"..Rapunzel?" Valor points into the tunnel. Cassandra groans. "Come on, we don't want her blowing this Cass." Valor goes in first letting her eyes swiftly adjust. Cassandra follows after her.

"Rapunzel?" Eugene calls walking through the halls. Pascal rode on his shoulder. He pokes his head into a room. "Rapunzel, are you in there?" He asked only to have the king clears his throat behind him.
Eugene turns to see Rapunzel's dad walking up. "Is who in there, Eugene?" He asked as Eugene quickly closed the door. "Huh? Uh, no one. This just part of my nightly routine. You know? Yeah, checking the castle for intruders, keeping an eye on Rapunzel, like I promised."
"Mm-hmm."
"Hey, is anyone there?!" Eugene shouts into an empty room. As it echoes about. "No? Good!" Closing the door. "See? The system works, really well I think.."
"Eugene.. where is Rapunzel?" The king asked him. "Uh, Ah.. in her room of course." Eugene tells him. "Good. I'd like to speak with her." The king steps towards the room. "You can't!" Eugene quickly said stepping in front of him.
"I mean, you can, obviously.. you can do whatever you want. You're the king! A very large intimidating, beardy, *ahem* clearly understanding king. It's just she's still upset and, uh, she said she needed time alone. I was only trying to respect that." He said blocking the king. "But, like I said you are the king."
The king smiles at him. "A very sweet and nom-hostile king." Eugene compliments him. "Well, maybe she does need some time to herself, *sigh* but when you see her please tell her that I am looking for her." The king begins to leave. "Sir, about the whole proposal earlier. That didn't go quite as I had hoped." Eugene admits. "We'll discuss that later, son, much later." The king tells him. "Right, we both have bigger fish to fry." Eugene tells Pascal and hurried off.

As Rapunzel removes the small window like things from the side of the building and steps out. "That was so fun!" Rapunzel quietly exclaimed trying to hold back her excitement.
Valor slipped out next and let's Cassandra put the guard thing back. "I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that we're supposed to be sneaking out. " Cassandra tells her. "She's right. You could use practice." Valor whispers.
"Guys, I think you'll discover that I can be pretty sneaky when I need to." Cassandra quickly tackles Rapunzel behind a building. Valor creeps over abc looking out. "Nightly patrols." Valor points out. "We can get by then if we time it right." Cassandra tells them. Valor gives a brisk nod.
"Wait, how did you guys, know they were coming?" Rapunzel asked them. Valor smirks. "I've been giving them the slip every night while I'm here." Valor points out. "And I have eyes in the sky." A hoot of an owl echoed.
Cassandra holds up her arm letting the owl land. "That is amazing! You have your own owl. What's his name?" Rapunzel asked. "Owl." She said with deadpanned face then he flew off. Cassandra gave clucking sound and Max pops up literally from behind a barrel.
Then he sneaks over to them. "Max!" Rapunzel cried happily. "Yeah, when he heard we were sneaking you out of here he instead he come along. And between the three of us," Cassandra began leading Fidella off. "I think he's got something for you know who."Cassandra teases walking by. Max snorts. Valor chuckles.
"Aw, come on Max. You know she's just teasing you." Valor chimes in. "Hmm. But still. It will be our little secret." Rapunzel promised.
Soon they reach the edge of the dock. Valor gulps. "I'm- I'm not sure." Rapunzel smiles at her. "Come on Val. If your scared you can sit on Max." Valor huffed. "I am not, still.." she glances over at the white horse. Max nickers lightly. "Okay!"
Cassandra shoots an arrow over to the other side with rope. Climbing in. Valor hugs Max's neck tightly. With Rapunzel in center they began to cross the water.

Back at the castle. The king stares at the Family portrait. And sighs."Oh honey, stop beating yourself up. Rapunzel just needs some space. Nobody said dealing with teenagers would be easy." The queen told him.
"Teenager or not, Ariana, she will be queen one day. I have to prepare her for that." The king tells her. As his mind went back to the night she was stolen. He got up and closed the window. "I just want to protect her." He admits.
