A/N: it's been kinda quiet in terms of feedback after the last chapter. Don't know if you guys are ready for the full next chapter so I've decided to split it in two
Chapter 70
"I said go away gran" said the girl and turned her head towards the door. Her mouth fell open as she saw Tegan and Sara stand in the door. "Oh my God... no... what are you doing here... go away" she mumbled And looked horrified. She pulled her legs into her chest and started rocking and sobbing. Tegan and Sara both knelt down next to the girl. She looked scared, tired and her face was stained with tear tracks. "Hey... hey Carmen what are you doing" said Tegan softly not to startle her. Charles kept a watchful guard from his position out in the hallway. Tegan gently took the girl's hand and took the razor blade out of it. "It's okay... everything's okay... we're going to get you some help okay... just calm down" whispered Tegan. The girl broke down and started sobbing, her body shaking. Sara tried to calm her down as Tegan put some towels on the cuts on her arms to stop the bleeding. "Shhh... shhhh he's never going to hurt anybody again Carmen" said Sara and pulled the girl into a hug. Dark come soon started playing in the bedroom. Tegan was starting to feel lightheaded and she sat back against the wall next to the girl. The girl was gorgeous, fine features, deep blue eyes and dark brown hair. "We're going to get you help Carmen... It's okay... let's get you dressed" said Sara. "Nobody can help me..." mumbled Carmen. "Do you want to talk about it?" said Sara as she put a large towel around the girl's shaking body. "No..." said the girl and turned her head. Erin had managed to leave gran with Jeff. They were making tea. She handed a bath robe that she found to Tegan. "Let's get you up and comfortable" said Tegan. Erin helped Tegan up and then helped Sara get the girl up. They put their healthy arms under her armpits and pulled her up. The girl was swaying. "Hey it looks like you've lost quite a bit of blood. Can we take you to the hospital to be checked out?" said Sara. "No!" said the girl fast and started walking to the bedroom. "This is so embarrassing... I hate my life" she mumbled. Erin picked up a container with pills that was lying next to her. "Hospital grade pain killers... this stuff is hard core they gave me some in the hospital. Don't think she took one... she would be out cold if she did" she whispered to Tegan. "Carmen, we just want to talk" said Sara. "I'm okay... can you give me a few minutes to get dressed please, then we can talk" asked the girl shyly. Tegan's instinct told her not to leave her alone. "Would you mind if I stayed. I just want to make sure you're okay" she said. The girl closed her eyes and sighed, "Whatever". Tegan motioned to the rest to get out. They all went to the living room to have tea with gran.
Alex and Emy tried to phone Erin and Sara a few more times but Sara's phone went straight to voicemail and Erin's went dead after one ring. Emy was freaking out, the last time she couldn't get a hold of Sara still very fresh in her memory. Alex jumped as his phone made a sound indicating that he had a new text message. "We need Arizona and Kate. We're okay, it's for somebody else." It was followed by an address.
The girl seemed a bit unstable on her feet but slipped into some sweatpants and a hoodie with her back to Tegan. Tegan was looking at some photos on her wall. She looked happy in all of them. Plenty of friends, looks like a girlfriend? Tegan shook her head. "Just going to wash my face" said the girl, seemingly a lot calmer than before. "Okay" smiled Tegan.
Tegan had an uneasy feeling after about a minute. She stepped out of the room and knocked on the bathroom door. There was no answer. "Carmen" she said and pushed the door open. The bathroom was empty. Tegan ran to the living room "She's gone... I left her alone for half a minute and she's gone" she yelled with her hands in her hair looking panicked. Everybody jumped up. Sara yanked open the front door and started sprinting down the hallway. She heard the elevator's "Ping" as she rounded the corner. She looked at the numbers above the door ...6...7...8...9...R. The numbers stopped. "I think she's on the roof. Jeff check the lobby we're going to the roof" she yelled and started taking the emergency stairs. Erin followed short on her heels. Sara's mind raced back to that day in the hospital when they sprinted up stairs... how she crumbled and broke down when she got to the top. "Carmen don't do this" she said to herself.
Tegan bravely but foolishly started climbing the stairs. She got up two and a half flights but was now heaving, fighting for air. She sat down on the steps trying to regain her breath. Her chest felt extremely tight and she was drenched in sweat. Her heart was beating at super speed. She was determined to get to the roof though. She got up and walked down to take the super slow elevator. She pressed the button a few times looking pale and scared. She was leaning her arm against the door and had her forehead resting on it. "Ping" made the elevator. Tegan was startled and lifted her arm. She got inside and pressed R.
Sara and Erin reached the door to the roof. She stopped in front of it to catch her breath. "Let's just take it easy... go slow" said Sara. Charles came running up behind them. "I asked Kate and Arizona to come" said Erin. "Good... good" said Sara and opened the door slowly. She looked around the roof and her heart just about stopped as she saw a figure standing on the ledge.
