A man was walking in the alleys of a supermarket with his girlfriend. They were only shopping but for him, it meant the world. Because if someone had told him one year ago that he would be here with her now, he would never have believed him. Their relationship had always been a complicated one. But they managed it, they were finally together and he couldn't be more happy.
- I'm going to the shower alley, she said smiling softly at him, and you go to the milk and eggs. We're out of it and I know that you really need it.
- Ok, rendez-vous at the fruits, he replied smiling.
He watched her walk away with a big smile : it was such a domestic thing. He was happy.
In the alley, he found the milk and was going to the eggs' one when he heard a voice saying his name. He looked back and saw his ex. « Oh no, boy… » he thought. They had called off their relationship because he was in love with the woman he was finally dating and their break up took a lot of screaming and insults (from her to him).
- Hey Hannah, how are you ?
- Fine, and you ? It's been such a long time ! she said smiling.
- Really good, he replied while taking the eggs he needed. But I have to go.
- You must have a little bit of time to speak to me. I really missed you, she whispered.
- Hannah… he sighed, feeling bad for what he was going to say. I'm with someone.
He saw her smile faltered a little but he went on :
- I love her, more than I thought I could. God she makes me so happy.
His smile was so big that she knew who he was talking about without even asking or hearing her name. There's only one person who could put a smile like that on his face. So she accepted that she lost him a long time ago. She even doubted that she ever had him. He always had been hers.
- I'm happy for you.
Seeing his face, she said with a sad smile :
- I promise, I really am. And I know that our break up was bad but you know… It's okay if I'm not your favorite chapter you have written, but I hope you sometimes smile when you flip back to the pages I was still a part of.
She tentatively smiled and he smiled back.
- Yes, Hannah, I still do and for the record, I'm still sorry.
- You don't have to be.
- If you say so, he chuckled softly seeing her big smile.
- So I supposed this time it's really goodbye…
- Yes, I supposed.
- Well, in that case, goodbye. I am glad that I met you.
- Me too. I hope you will find what you search.
- Yeah, you too.
- Oh don't worry for me, he said with his gaze looking at something or someone who was behind her. I already have everything I want and need.
He smiled a last time and joined his girlfriend. She watched them leave. Oddly, there was no regret in her. Only hope. Because when she looked at them, she started to believe that there was someone who was made for her somewhere in this world. And she couldn't wait to find him.
