Chapter 94

Tegan stood by the window with her hands on her hips. "I'm really not liking this guys... it's getting pretty dark. I'm calling 911" she said. "And they will probably tell you to bugger off but sure... if that will make you feel better" said Ted. "Listen, I know Sara and I know that she likes things pretty controlled, she would not be out there in the dark on purpose" said Tegan. "At least the rain stopped" said Jeremy.

Kate peeled leaves off Sara's back before putting her T-shirt back on. "Let's go home" she said before kissing Sara softly on the lips again. "What a day right?" smiled Sara. "Yeah... one I'm never going to forget" said Kate handing Sara her shirt. "O crap... I've lost a few buttons" she mumbled. "Um... sorry I was... a bit... eager" blushed Kate. "Oh I remember... I love your eagerness" teased Sara. "Mmm - you better just cross your arms when we get home Sara" laughed Kate. "Do you think you can walk?" asked Kate concerned. "I don't even feel it anymore" smiled Sara. "Did you know that the endorphins produced by a kiss are two hundred times more powerful at pain relief than morphine?" said Kate. "Oh on second thoughts, it's really hurting again" grinned Sara. Kate pulled her closer and kissed her for a solid minute. "That should last you a while" she said and lightly slapped Sara's bum. Sara giggled like a schoolgirl. Kate took a multitool with a tiny torch out of her bag. "Good thing I love gadgets" she said. "That's not exactly the biggest torch in the world Kate" laughed Sara. "Well... it'll have to do I guess" shrugged Kate. She took Sara's hand in hers and they started walking. "What are we going to say to the others" said Kate. "Wow... I haven't thought about that... maybe... I don't know... maybe we can keep it on the low down for a while... but on the other hand. I want the world to know... I feel like shouting it from the rooftops!" said Sara. Kate planted another kiss on her. "Me too... but Okay... we'll try our best to keep it quiet. Let's just make sense of this for ourselves first. We'll see how that goes" she smiled.

After about fifteen minutes of slow walking Sara was very quiet. Her ankle was throbbing again and walking was torchure. She let out an unconscious whimper and Kate immediately stopped. "Are you okay, are you hurting" she asked holding both of Sara's hands in hers looking into her eyes in the dim torch light. "God I love it when you're all soft and caring like this... you'll make me jump out of a tree on purpose so you can nurse me back to health" whispered Sara. Kate giggled. "But yeah it hurts like hell" breathed Sara through clenched teeth. "Oh Sara... poor baby. I've got a plan" said Kate. She took the backpack off and put back on over her chest. "Hop on up sweetheart" she said turning her back. "You're kidding" said Sara. "No... we want to get home before sunrise and you're really hurting. You hardly weigh anything... come on" said Kate. "This is so fucking embarrrasing" whispered Sara. "I think it's sexy" whispered Kate into her ear and started kissing her cheek and running her hands through her hair. "Okay hang on Dr Lovegood. Let's make sure our next time is not on a forrest floor. And I don't think I can resist you when you do that" giggled Sara. Kate piggybacked Sara the rest of the way while Sara shone the light. "My hero..." whispered Sara into Kate's ear from behind.

"M'am, we can't report them as missing unless they've been gone for more than 48 hours" said the police officer standing in the living room. Tegan was frustrated and groaned with her hands in her hair. "I don't believe this... they could be lying at the bottom of a canyon somewhere!" she said. "It hasn't been dark that long m'am. They'll probably be here soon. Hang in there. Don't go looking for them. Phone me in the morning if they're not here yet" said the policeman and left.

"Ah haaa! Light up ahead. There's the house" said Kate and started walking faster. "Okay let me down now" said Sara. "No... I don't want you putting unnecessary weight on that ankle" said Kate. "Let me down Kate!" whined Sara. "Not a chance" laughed Kate and gripped Sara's legs tighter. Sara tried in vein to un-attach herself "Stop squirming Sara, you're going to fall and hurt yourself... again" said Kate as she walked up to the house. Tegan and Erin were standing on the deck and saw them approaching. "Thank God! Where have you two been, we've been so worried about you" said Tegan sounding angry. Kate gently put Sara down. "We... um we got lost and then Sara sprained her ankle and we just waited out the rain in a dry spot" said Kate. "How'd you get lost... didn't you stick to the trail? This was really irresponsible" huffed Tegan. "You sound like mom Tee" giggled Sara. Tegan eyed her suspiciously. Sara would usually be a total misery after something like this. Sulking like a child. But she was giddy, laughing and making jokes about it. "I'm starving, what's for dinner" she said. Tegan looked down at her shirt and noticed the missing buttons. Sara quickly crossed her arms over her stomach. Tegan stifled a laugh. "We both need a hot shower, and then we need to get that cut cleaned up and that ankle wrapped and iced" said Kate. She had leaves in her hair. "A cut? Are you okay Sara?" asked Tegan concerned again. "Yes mother... everything's fine" she said and hobbled into the house. Kate followed behind rubbing her back that was now aching after carrying sara through the forest. "Hey doc... your shirt's on the wrong way" said Tegan and started laughing. Erin tried to keep it in but was soon giggling with Tegan. "Oh... we... we swam in the pool and... um... yeah" said Kate and rushed into the house blushing. "They did it" said Tegan turning to Erin. "You think?" said Erin. "Leaves in their hair... buttons missing... shirt on the wrong way... Yep... they totally did it" said Tegan.

Sara stood under the warm shower for a long time with her eyes closed trying to relive every magical moment of that day. She actually felt butterflies in her stomach. After pulling on some comfortable sweats she walked into the lounge, Kate was already there looking warm and cozy. Sara couldn't wipe the grin off her face. She hobbled over to the couch. "Just relax Sara... let's get this cut sorted out" smiled Kate. She cut off the piece of T-shirt still that looked filthy, even after the shower after all that rolling around on the ground. Sara blushed and Tegan rolled her eyes when she saw it. Kate was so gentle. She softly put down Sara's leg on a towel and pulled on some surgical gloves. "Did you bring the whole hospital" asked Tegan frowning. "Pretty much" laughed Kate. "Speaking of which... I haven't forgotten about your IVs Tegan... you want them now or tomorrow morning" said Kate. "Damn... tomorrow I guess because they take hours to finish and I don't want you waking me up in the middle of the night to remove them..." sighed Tegan. "But let's be honest... you did forget about them right" said Tegan winking. Kate just shook her head. "Okay Sara. Let's check out this bad boy. The cut was about 4 inches above Sara's ankle. Kate gently inspected it and started cleaning it with some anti-bacterial solution. Sara flinched. "Sorry... didn't mean to hurt you... I think it's going to need a few stitches. Maybe three or four. It's pretty deep and and it's gaping" said Kate calmly. "Ughhh...more stitches" sighed Sara. "I'm going to numb you up... you won't feel a thing" winked Kate. "I'm sure I won't" smiled Sara. Any fool could see that the two of them were totally smitten with each other. "Did you two at least have fun up there" asked Lindsey from the kitchen. "It was great" said Sara and met Kate's eyes. "Really fantastic" said Kate with a smile as she injected something into Sara's leg to numb her up. Sara's eyes darted down. Kate gently held her hand on the spot where she pulled the syringe out. "Just give it a minute" said Kate softly. Sara put her hand on Kate's and looked into her eyes. She tried to play it cool but Kate's eyes were like magnets. "Here's some tea for you guys" said Lindsey smiling. "Thank you... I think we're a bit dehydrated... ran out of water" said Kate breaking eye contact with Sara and took a sip of tea before starting with the stiches. "Lie back down Sara. Relax... I'm gonna fix you right up" she said softly. Sara felt feint but she was sure it wasn't due to looking at the gaping cut so she lay back against the cushions. Tegan was staring at Kate's hands as she swiftly did the job. "I don't usually stitch up cuts but I'm sure this will do" said Kate smiling as she finished the last one and put a plaster over the wound. Sara smiled and sipped some more tea. "Thank you... that didn't even hurt" she said softly. "Ughh... I don't know how you do this I feel like throwing up" said Tegan. Kate scoffed "Wait till you see me stitch a new heart into somebody" she said. "Oh fuck that's gross" said Tegan pretending to gag. "That must be amazing... I'd love to see you do that" said Sara grinning. "Well maybe I'll let you one day" smiled Kate. Tegan turned around to Erin and mouthed. "Totally did it"

Sara gave a large yawn at the dinner table. She had her wrapped up foot propped up on a chair with an ice pack on it. "Well if you guys don't mind I'm just gonna turn in. We've had an exhausting day" she said. "Yeah me too. Keep icing that ankle Sara. And remember to take those two tablets before bed" said Kate and rubbed her belly smiling at Sara. "Yeah and I've had an exhausting day worrying about you two" said Tegan still slightly annoyed with them. Sara rolled her eyes. "Oh Teetee... you worry too much... Thank you for dinner guys... see you in the morning... goodnight" said Sara. Kate followed mere minutes later. "Is there something going on between those two" asked Alex frowning. "Um... that's clear as daylight" said Ted and laughed. Tegan and Erin both burst out laughing. "Well we think so but play it cool guys... they think we suspect nothing. Let them play their little game a bit longer" said Tegan. "That's fucking awesome!" smiled Lindsey and kissed Tegan. "I think they both deserve a bit of romance and love" said Erin. "They're a fantastic couple! How did this not happen sooner" said Jeremy. "Timing I guess" said Tegan. "I have a feeling about this one... a really good feeling" she smiled.

Sara got into her PJs and was lying in bed staring at the ceiling in the dark. She didn't feel tired... she felt amazing. She longed for Kate. She contemplated going to her when she heard a soft knock on the door. A second later the handle turned "Sara... are you asleep?" whispered Kate. "I thought you'd never get here" giggled Sara and pulled her into the bed by her hand. Kate didn't waste any time and immediately attacked Sara's eager lips. "How's your ankle?" said Kate breaking the kiss. "It's fine... shut up and kiss me" said Sara weaving her hands through Kate's hair. After a lengthy and hot make out session Sara slid her hand down Kate's pajama pants. "I can't resist you" she whispered. "I swear you're the hottest human on the planet" she whispered. "No... maybe second after you...mmmm I've always wanted to do it with a rock star" mocked Kate. "Let me rock your world baby" said Sara and got on top of Kate. She flinched when her foot bent a centimeter in the wrong direction. "Maybe not tonight Sar... take it easy... we'll rock tomorrow... maybe we'll just try the sweet acoustic version tonight" said Kate as she lay Sara back down on her side and slowly undressed her followed by herself. Sara stared at Kate's gorgeous face illuminated by a beam of moonlight. "Are you okay?" she whispered. "God you're so caring and gentle... you know how it turns me on" said Sara. She started kissing Kate again as they both lay on their sides caressing each other's sweet spots. After their bliss Kate pulled Sara closer to her. Their naked bodies touching. "Sleep sweet Sara" she whispered. Sara was starting to feel drowsy from the two pain killers Kate gave her. "I... I think I'm in love with you Kate" she whispered drowsily. "I KNOW I'm in love with you Sara" whispered Kate and held Sara tight. Sara smiled with her eyes closed. She could feel the steady beating of Kate's heart next to her own and it soothed her into the best night's sleep she'd had in years.
