Chapter 97

Tegan was sitting on the beach at dusk tinkering with her guitar when Erin walked up to her, plonked down on the sand and handed Tegan a non-alcoholic beer. "Crazy morning huh... Don't know if you're allowed to drink yet but I'm not so you're getting the good girl beer" she said. "Mmmm, it's fine... I just hope we don't have the National Enquirer at our wedding" said Tegan. "I don't want you to worry about that okay... I've got contacts. I'm going to make sure your big day is perfect without any unwanted guests" said Erin. "Cool... I trust you E" smiled Tegan. "Are you writing?" asked Erin. "Kind of... just messing around with some melodies... trying to write my vows actually, hoping music will provide some inspiration" said Tegan. "How's your screenplay going" asked Tegan changing the subject. Erin was an amazing writer with a particular talent for scriptwriting. She was finishing a script she started writing some months ago when Tegan was in hospital. "Good... I'm almost done actually. I haven't been as excited about a screenplay in years as I am about this one. It's... special... you know. And it's all thanks to you... And emotions and places in my soul I don't think I've ever accessed until sitting next to your hospital bed" said Erin. "I think my whole heart is sitting in it Tee... I don't know, maybe it sucks but I like it and at the moment I really don't care about the rest... I'm keeping this one... I'm going to direct and produce it and I want you guys to write the music" said Erin. "Wow... Um... I don't know Erin... I'm sure this movie is going to be fantastic but I don't think... I just don't think we... or rather I ... can do it... I've never had to... write around somebody else's story... or emotions I... I don't know how to explain it" said Tegan. "Challenge yourself Tegan... Music is going to be a very important part of this film... and I do not trust anybody but you guys with this. I have no doubt that you will do an amazing job. It will be a full album... you know one of those music inspired by jobs... You don't want to do a new album just yet and you certainly don't want to tour it when you have two new-borns. This is perfect. Just read the script please, you can make a decision after that but please Tee... just read it" said Erin. "Okay I guess... but I'm not going to promise anything... my confidence isn't exactly at a high right now. I would love to do it but I don't think I can" said Tegan. "If there's anybody in this world that can do it... that can hit this out of the park... it's you... I want you to be part of this film... I want you on my team Tee. You can do this. Come on... Grammy's? Well fuck the Grammy's – let's win you an Oscar Tee. I'm guaranteeing you at least a nomination" winked Erin. Tegan laughed. "I wasn't fishing for compliments but you're always so good for my ego Erin" she said and smiled. "I'll think about it, and I'll have a chat to Sar about it. Send me the script. Meanwhile... I have to write my vows and I have to admit it's weird for me writing without having music for the... the lyrics you know" said Tegan. "It doesn't have to be art Tegan... just say what's in your heart" said Erin. "My heart is too full... I'm struggling to put it into words... because language is not enough to express my feelings" said Tegan and shrugged. "I have no doubt that it will be so special" smiled Erin. "I'm so happy for you Tegan... you deserve every second of happiness you can get" she said. "Thank you Erin" said Tegan.

"So... only two more sleeps till the big day buddy" said Erin. "I really wanted to throw a big bachelorette party for you but you can't drink and neither can I, so... I've just organised you a special rehearsal dinner with just the family" said Erin. "Family meaning soul family I hope... all of us and parents" asked Tegan. "Yup... Most guests are only arriving on Saturday morning anyway" said Erin. "Sara B cancelled a massive show to be here... so did the guys from Paramore and a few others. It's clear that you mean a great deal to them" said Erin. "Whoa... no pressure to have the best wedding ever" joked Tegan. "I can't wait to see my parents. I just feel kinda... I don't know... sorry for Linds who won't have her parents here you know" sighed Tegan as she played with the sand. "She's got us... we're her family. We'll take care of her Tegan" smiled Erin. "Erin... you're my best friend in the world and I want you to help me prepare before the wedding and I want you standing beside me... but I love Lindsey so much that I want her to have you. I want you to be there for her. I'll have Sara and my mom. I want you with me but I need you with Linds, I need you to take care of her" said Tegan looking at Erin. "I'm honoured that you're asking me this Tegan. Kate and I will take good care of your girl and deliver her safely to you" smiled Erin and hugged Tegan.

"Can you believe I'm getting married!" smiled Tegan. "Totally, I've been waiting for this since the first day you met her. You are going to love married life Tee. There's something special about sharing your love and committing to each other in front of the people you love... It just takes a relationship to a new level, whether you care to admit it or not" said Erin. "Remember your wedding E? I was so drunk... I was a mess... God I was pining for Lindsey the whole time. At that wedding I knew, for sure that she was the one... that I couldn't live without her... I think my possible future with her played out in my head a million times... And also the possibility of life without her... I think that was the night when I decided I'm gonna fight for her... So yeah, I guess deep down I've always had a thing for weddings" laughed Tegan.
