My first ever Buffy fic!

This is my first ever Buffy the Vampire Slayer fic and I am very excited! I have been watching the series again on Amazon Prime Video and I am loving it. I used to watch it when I was a kid and I have to admit, I am kind of judging my parents for letting me watch it when I was 7 years old. However, back then I didn't really understand it and it's story lines but now I do and I feel like I am reliving my childhood.

I have to admit that summaries are not my strong point but I just want to make it clear from the start what this story is about. Please be warned that there is a trigger in this story; Buffy and Angel split and to get her mind off of it, Xander and Willow bring her to The Bronze and there she meets a guy but he's not as nice as he seems. TRIGGER – The guy she meets rapes her and Buffy shuts herself down and Willow believes that there is only one person who can help Buffy and that is the man she loves, Angel

Built Up Walls: Chapter 1: Weakness

Buffy
I kicked the door open to the warehouse and saw Angel being held against a wall by three other vampires, he was fighting against them but he was outnumbered. Xander was stood behind me with a stake in one hand, a bottle of holy water in his other hand, a large wooden cross around his neck and a spare stake in the back of his pants but it hard to tell where to start. There were vampires everywhere and they seemed pretty hell bent on hurting Angel which I couldn't allow, however to stop him getting hurt I was going to have to get through about 15 vampires first. Even with Xander as backup I didn't really like our chances. Will and Giles offered to come to but I told them to stay behind and do some research on who was causing all of this.

I tightened the grip on my stake and charged into the vampires. A first came at me from one direction, a kick came from a different direction and before I could recover I was picked up and throw into the air and landed on the concrete floor on my back. During the fall I dropped my stake and I spotted my bottle of Holy Water rolling away from me. I looked up at Xander and saw him holding off three vampires with his wooden cross and staking another but I saw another four vampires coming towards me noticing I had lost my weapons and I was looking defenceless. Something they should know about The Slayer, I might not have weapons on me but that doesn't mean that I am defenceless.

I got up from the floor and kicked a vampire to the floor, she got up quickly and came at me but I dodged her and kicked he against the wall, she hit her head and fell down to the floor. I pinned another down on the ground as he came at me.

"Buffy!" I turned to Xander who had my stake and threw it to me.

I caught it with ease and plunged it into the vampire man's heart forcing him to turn to dust. The woman vampire I had just kicked against the wall was getting up but I rushed over and staked her from behind and she also turned into dust. The other two that were coming at me slowed down when they saw the stake and saw their two vampire friends turn to dust.

They split up and started circling me in different directions making it harder for me to get a clean target without turning my back to the other. One of the vampires was a man that looked a similar age to Angel; he was licking his lips as he circled me and looking for a weakness to attack me. I kept my eye on him as I took note of the other vampire, he was older looking but he was sloppy so I'm guessing he was new at the vampire thing so he would be easier to take out meaning I could give the other vampire my full attention.

I punched the newbie vampire in the face making him stumble back and as he recovered I staked him in the heart and he turned to dust. The other vampire was looking at me with all kinds of angry on his face, I kicked at him and he blocked it and punched me in the face then punched me again making me lose my balance and fall to the floor. He went to pounce so I held my stake up but he stopped himself and wacked the stake out of my hand, he pinned me to the ground but I head butted him and rushed to pick the stake up. I threw it at him and hit my mark; he dropped to the floor and turned to dust.

I looked over at Angel and saw that he had got rid of one of the vampires holding him so now he was doing fine fighting off the two and he seemed to be winning. One lunged at him but he threw him against the wall and then killed the other with Xander's spare stake.

Xander wasn't doing too well, he was cornered by three vampires and looked as though he had run out of Holy Water. I had too many vampires blocking my path to him but Angel would be able to help him.

"Angel, help Xander!" I called over to him.

A vampire girl, who looked like she was in her early 30s when she was turned, came from nowhere and stood directly in front of me. She snarled at me and looked ready to kill but I kicked her and punched her back from me but she didn't fall to the floor like I thought she would. She was strong. She pushed me into a wall and kneed me in the stomach, making me double over holding my stomach. She lunged at me again and grabbed hold of my hair, forcing me to go to the floor and she stood over me with a leg at either side of me. She grabbed hold of my top and lifted me off the ground slightly and dropping me onto it hard.

"Buffy!" Angel called in panic as another vampire came to join in.

The vampire girl was on top of me and was leaning down to bite me. She grabbed hold of my head and thrust it to the side giving her better access to my neck, I was kicking but then two hands came and held down my legs so I couldn't fight back. I closed my eyes as I waited for the bite and I could hear Angel and Xander calling for me, I felt her teeth against my neck but then she was gone.

I opened my eyes and I saw Angel standing above me, he extended his hand out to me which I took and he helped me stand up.

"Are you ok?" He asked urgently as he checked me over for injuries.

"I'm fine," I replied.

I took a look at the warehouse and saw that there were only 4 vampires left and I knew that between me, Angel and Xander we would be able to take them and the vampires knew it too. They looked between us for a moment before running out of the warehouse, I should go after them but I don't really have the energy right now. I'm sure I will bump into them again and I will recognise them and I will kill them.

"Are you sure that you're ok?" Angel asked.

"I promise I'm ok," I answered "Are you ok?" I questioned.

"You don't have to worry about me," He replied.

"I'm ok too... thanks for asking," Xander said as walked past us towards the door to leave "I'm gonna head back to check on Willow and Giles." He stated and disappeared out the door.

What he really means is that he is going to check on Willow, why don't the two of them just get together already?!

"I'll walk you home," Angel stated.

"It's not even late, it's only nine," I told him.

"I'll walk you home," He repeated.

"Ok." I agreed.

Angel took my hand and we interlocked our fingers as we left the warehouse.

Angel
The vampires last night took me to lure Buffy out so they could kill her and it nearly worked. It shouldn't have happened but I have to admit I knew it was bound to happen. I never should have let things get this far. I put Buffy is a lot of danger last night and she nearly got killed because of it. When I first saw her I promised to help her and I should have just left it there, I never should have fallen in love with her and I never should have pursued this relationship with her.

I love Buffy, I have never loved someone as much as I love Buffy but I can't keep doing this. If someone wanted to get to me then they would target Buffy or if they wanted to lure her out, like they did last night, they will use me as a tool to get her and hurt her. I can't allow this to happen anymore so I need to put some distance between us and as much as I really do not want to but I think the best thing would be for me to end things with Buffy and get out of Sunnydale. I don't want to put her in more danger than she is already in.

Buffy Summers is my ultimate weakness.

I really didn't want to do this. I love Buffy and I know that she loves me but this is the right thing for me to do, the space between us will keep her safer. Yes, she is the Slayer and that means she is in constant danger but me being out of the picture will be better for her.

The door knocked and I knew it was going to be Buffy; I opened the door for her and let her in.

"Hi," She greeted happily "Giles wants me on patrol tonight but I fancied some company," She said.

"I don't think so," I answered dryly and her face instantly changed from happy to panic "Buff I need to talk to you," I took hold of her hand and walked her over to the bed and sat her down. I was going to sit down beside her but I couldn't so I stood in front of her but still had hold of her hand "Last night was a close call. You were seconds away from being killed by that vampire," She looked down at the ground at the memory "They used me as bait to lure you out and they will do it again. I don't want you to be in that kind of position so I think we need some space between us," I finished.

"Are you breaking up with me?" She questioned and she stood up from the bed.

"I'm going away," I stated.

"Where?"

"I don't know yet but I need to get away from here," I told her.

"Don't you love me?" She asked with tears welling up in her eyes.

"Of course I do, you know I do," I answered "But this is something that I have to do. I don't want to be used as a tool against you. I agreed to help you when I found out that you were the Slayer but I should never have let it get this far," I explained.

"Angel, please don't do this," She pleaded.

"I have to, for your own sake,"

"Don't do that. Don't say that you're doing this for me," She argued.

"Everything I do is for you," I told her.

"Please," Her voice was just above a whisper and there were tears falling down her cheeks.

"I love you Buffy but we're over," I stated "I'll leave town tomorrow night and you will never have to see me again," I added.

"I love you Angel," She cried.

"I love you too Buffy."

Buffy stormed out of my room and slammed my door behind her, she was angry, that was good. If she was angry at me and hated me then this would be easier for us both to deal with. Not seeing her again is going to break my heart but this is for the best. I hope she does what she needs to do here and I hope she gets to live a life, a good life, she deserves it. I hope she finds a good man who will treat her right and be able to give her all of the things that I could never give her.

Our relationship probably wouldn't have lasted anyway. I'm a vampire and I'm never going to get older, Buffy is human and she is going to get older and I know her becoming a vampire is not even an option to be considered. I couldn't marry her and have children with her and I'm sure these are all things that she has thought about, I'm sure they are things she wants... even if she hasn't told me that herself.

Me and Buffy were doomed from the start.

So that was the first chapter and the start of my first ever Buffy fic!
