Chapter 99
Everybody was having a nightcap around the pool when they got home. The house was huge and had more than enough room for Tegan's parents. They had an entire floor to themselves. Kate was having a long conversation with Stephen and Bruce about some or other new medical technology. They were hanging on her every word and it was clear that they thought Kate walked on water. Sara used the opportunity to slip away quietly and was sitting on the beach watching the almost full moon reflected on the water. She smiled thinking of her reflection... Tegan. Before she could finish her thought Tegan sat down next to her wordlessly. "Hey bride to be" smiled Sara. "Hey Sar... thought I'd find you here. What you doing?" asked Tegan. "Just thinking... reminising... remembering 33 years of being your twin" said Sara. "I've been having a bit of an emotional day" said Tegan. "It's weird... I've been so preoccupied with the concept... of me and you today. Our bond... and how this is going to affect that" said Tegan. "Because here I go and forge another bond and... I... I don't know how that.. how we... the rest of... I... I don't know..." Tegan stumbled over her words. Sara stayed quiet for a while. "Tegan... What we have is different. You and I will always have something that nobody else can replicate. Nothing can break that bond. It's unique... this thing is special. Nothing has ever come between that, and nothing ever will... I will make sure of that" said Sara looking at Tegan. "I'm so grateful to have you as my twin Sara... You've sure been a pain in my ass over the last 33 years" laughed Tegan "And as much as I love Lindsey you'll always be the most important person in my life. I want you to know that" said Tegan seriously. "And you in mine" smiled Sara. They stayed quiet for a few minutes listening to the sound of the waves softly breaking on the shore. "Are you nervous?" asked Sara. "No... not nervous, just excited. Well... I'm nervous that I may faint from excitement though" laughed Tegan. "I'll be there to catch you" said Sara and put her arm around Tegan's shoulder. "You always are" smiled Tegan.

Tegan opened her eyes and smiled as the first thing she saw was her bride's face in the morning glow. "Happy wedding day my love" she whispered and Lindsey opened her eyes. "It's finally here" smiled Lindsey and kissed Tegan's fingers. The tips of Tegan's other fingers lightly brushed Lindsey's naked breast but she kept staring into her lover's eyes. Lindsey's one hand moved between Tegan's breasts and the other to her neck. She felt her chest move in and out slowly under her palm and the blood pulsing under her fingertips in her neck. "You're here... and you're real" whispered Lindsey. "Right here Linds... I'm not going anywhere. You and me babe... forever" said Tegan softly as if reading Lindsey's thoughts. Lindsey pulled Tegan closer and threw her leg over her body and her arm around her chest. "Me and you angel... It's time for the koala" she smiled and buried her face in Tegan's chest. "Hey that's my move" joked Tegan. "You owe me about ten thousand koalas baby" said Lindsdey. "I know... and you can have a million over and above that" said Tegan kissing the top of Lindsey's head. Tegan felt Lindsey's body start to shake under her arm. "Hey... what's this... are you okay sweetie?" asked Tegan. "I am... um... my heart is overflowing so it's coming out of my eyes... Thank you for coming back to me Tegan" said Lindsey softly. "I promise to never take you for granted again".
After about an hour of cuddling they heard a soft knock on the door. "Room service for the bridal couple" they heard Sonia's voice say. "Just a minute" said Tegan breaking her grip on Lindsey. She got up and threw Lindsey some pajamas. She pulled on her own and hopped back into bed. "Come in" she said. Sonia entered with a trolley filled with the most amazing breakfast. "Morning lovebirds" she said as she parked the trolley and pulled the curtains open wide. "It's a beautiful day for a wedding" she smiled. Tegan looked out at the cloudless blue sky and smiled. "We thought we'd give you a bit of alone time before we have to break you up for pre-wedding beautificatiton" said Sonia. "Linds doesn't need any beautification. She's perfect exactly as she is right now" said Tegan and looked at Lindsey. She had a serious bed head and pillow wrinkles on her perfect skin that didn't need an drop of makeup. "Ha... you're adorable" smiled Lindsey and kissed Tegan. "Enjoy your breakfast" said Sonia and kissed her eldest on the cheek before leaving the room.

"I miss her already" sulked Tegan as Sara and Sonia laid out Tegan's wedding outfit on the couch in Sara's room. "Soon!" said Sonia and smiled. "But first Kate's going to going to examine you to make sure you're good to go" said Sara. "I'm fine I don't need a check-up" said Tegan. "I know... Humor us" said Sara rolling her eyes. "After that a shower. Hair and makeup will be here in an hour" said Sara. "I don't want too much makeup guys" said Tegan. "Sure, but it's your wedding day so a little won't hurt. We don't want you shiny on all the photos" said Sonia. "O fuck... did somebody organise a photographer? I'm so used to Lindsey taking all the photos I completely forgot about it" said Tegan with her hands over her mouth. "Dude... what do you take us for... Your straight friend knows all about weddings... She's pretty obsessed actually. She has a three page check list. And to think I wondered if she was on our team when I first met her" giggled Sara. "In fact, she's organised pretty much the most famous photographer in the world for you so chill" said Sara. "Such a girl" grinned Tegan. "I love it".
Kate walked into the room without her bag. "Hey... excited Teebag?" she said. "You have no idea" said Tegan. "Come with me" said Kate taking Tegan's hand. "We won't be long guys" she said and winked at Sara as she led Tegan down the hall into her room. "You can take a seat on the bed and remove your shirt" said Kate fiddling with some equipment. Tegan did as instructed and was left wearing only her bra and some ridiculous pink shorts. She played nervously with her hands, her shoulders slumped. Kate sat down next to her and put the stethoscope into her ears. She put the cold head on Tegan's chest and it startled her. "Sorry... I should've heated it up first" smiled Kate. "Just relax for me and take a big breath in... and out... in... and out. Good job..." said Kate before moving to Tegan's back. She put the stethoscope around her neck and shone a penlight into Tegan's pupils one by one. "Follow my finger" she instructed. "Hey... try to calm down Tee... you're pulse is through the roof" she said as she looked at the pulse ox meter blinking fast on Tegan's finger. "Sorry... I'm nervous about this. I just want everything to be perfect today... just for today. I want you to tell me everything's fine" said Tegan becoming emotional. Kate put both her hands on Tegan's shoulders. "It's okay... nice deep breaths Tegan... you're okay" said Kate calmly. "There we go... you can lie back down on the pillows for me. I'm going to check your temp, BP and glucose and I'm going to do a quick ECG. Nothing's wrong... I just want to make sure" smiled Kate. "You brought a fucking ECG on holiday?" said Tegan. "Yeah... that was our deal before coming on holiday remember. Heck I didn't lug this thing all the way here for nothing" said Kate. Tegan didn't reply and closed her eyes as Kate attached the electrodes to her chest. "You're picking up weight quite nicely" said Kate trying to distract Tegan. "Mmm...good food" laughed Tegan. She heard the familiar beep, beep, beep escaping the machine. Kate was quiet and studied the monitor for a minute. "Well?" asked Tegan. "Perfect sinus rhythm. This heart is ready for action" said Kate as she wrapped the BP cuff around Tegan's bicep. "BP is looking great" smiled Kate. She pricked Tegan's finger and analysed the drop of blood in a little machine. "Glucose looks good too" she said. "Temp is normal" she said after putting a digital thermometer into Tegan's ear. "All your hard work has paid off. You my friend, get the all clear to get married" said Kate with a massive smile. Tegan put her forearm over her eyes as her shoulders started shaking. "Thank you... thank you... thank you for fixing me Kate" she whispered. "It's all you Tee" smiled Kate and hugged her friend. "Yeah right" mumbled Tegan. "Go have fun today! I don't want to sound like a spoil sport but you're going to be emotional today and there's going to be lots of excitement... I want you to carry your inhaler with you at all times. If you feel your chest go tight I want you to use it. Don't wonder about it... just use it, before you really need it. It won't do any harm. I'm going to be making sure you eat! Many brides get so carried away with the events of the day that they forget. But you can't afford that okay... and neither can Lindsey. So... eat please. And don't pull too many crazy moves on the dance floor... I charge over time rates for pulled hamstrings" said Kate laughing. "As unfit as I am right now I think I may be sticking to the slow dances, plus they're way more fun" joked Tegan. "I'm so proud of you Teebag, you have no idea. My star patient" she smiled as she removed the electrodes from Tegan's chest. "Go do your thing. I'm going to check on your bride and your kids" said Kate. "Hey Katy... I love you. Thank you for being so amazing. Pay very special attention to Sara today" said Tegan putting on her shirt. "I intend to Tee" smiled Kate. "You're so good for her... I'm happy she has you" said Tegan. "Not as happy as I am to have her. At least one good thing came out of all this right" laughed Kate. "Gooo now... we don't want you to be late for your own wedding Romeo!"
