The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
Finally, Friday was here. Angel was currently on her way over to her brother's house. She was bringing Finn along with his belongings over. Hopefully, he won't put up a fuss when she leaves him behind. But she just keeps reminding herself that he loves Jack and Jamie. Since they don't have kids yet. They shower him with loads of attention whenever they're around him.
Even though it was near the middle of November. It was quite beautiful out. As Angel went down one of the back roads, it looks like someone took a truck load of paint cans and threw them on the trees. The leaves ranged from yellow, to bright orange, bright red, and brown. There was also still some green mixed in. Many were coming down from the trees and blowing in the wind. Making it appear it was raining leaves. Finn was having a blast too. Angel had a couple windows down and the large Rottie had his head out one of them. His tongue flapping out against his jowls.
It was nice that her brother lived close by. Roughly about ten minutes away from her place. Whereas, their parents relocated to Portland shortly after retirement. Luckily, Angel didn't have too much more to pack and she had all her errands done. So when she gets back home she will go for a jog along the wooded paths. Of course, it would have to be a short one. Because daylight savings ended and the sun was going down a lot earlier now.
She parked up the gravel driveway and opened the door for her boisterous dog. Finn shot out of the car and raced to the front door of the nice old blue Victorian home. It was actually her childhood home. The parents gave it to the twins when they moved out. The twins split the cost and when Jack got married, Angel let him and his new wife have the house. It was a perfect size for starting a family. Which she knew Jack and Jamie planned on doing soon. So it wouldn't have made sense if Angel who was still single and not close to having kids; let her brother have full ownership of the beautiful old home.
The front door opened and Jack came out with his arms spread open. Finn bulldozed into him and jumped up on the taller man. Angel jogged the rest of the way with Finn's 30lb bag of food over one shoulder and his food and water bowl were in her other hand. Good thing she didn't have to lug the dog bed with her.
Jack got a dog bed for his house for when Finn came over. Plus, Angel knows that Jamie has been busy coaxing him into getting another dog. She works part time at the animal shelter when she's not busy grading papers. She's hoping to talk him into bringing home one or two of the many rescues holed up in the kennels.
When her brother spotted her, he walked over and took the heavy bag of dog food off her shoulder.
"Sorry Sis, I promise I'll get a bag of dog food for next time so you don't have to do this again. I'll probably even get a couple dog bowls too. That way you don't have to bring anything." He told her.
Angel just waves him off. "It's fine, if I weren't in shape then I'd complain. But luckily, I still keep active. Exercise is probably my biggest distraction from the world. It's why I do it daily."
Jamie came out, smiling at Angel. The taller red head wrapped her arms around the petite brunette in a hug.
"Hey Angel, how is everything? How's work been? I heard you came to the Elementary School earlier this week. You like lecturing the kiddies?" She asked.
Angel chuckled. "Yeah, turns out they are more interested in wild life than I initially thought. And here I thought kids were more into their phones and I-Pads nowadays. But apparently outdoor play and learning is still going strong with this generation."
Her brother and sister in-law knew well what she was talking about. Both of them are teachers at the school themselves. It's actually where Jack met Jamie. She's one of the sixth grade teachers down the hall from his classroom. Jack who was all about history is the History Teacher for both the seventh and eighth grade. But Angel didn't see them while she was lecturing at the school. Because she was with the lower grades.
"Hey, I resent that statement. I'm a huge fan of gym, always have been. And I make sure my kids participate in gym everyday." Jack teased.
The three of them exchanged a few more words. Until Angel told them it was time for her to go.
"Yeah, don't mean to cut this short. But I want to get in a jog before it really starts getting dark. I'll have my phone on me during the whole trip...well minus me showering that is." She said with an amused smirk.
Her brother made a disgusted face at that, while his wife started laughing.
"Why not? I hear they have waterproof cases. I say go for it." Jamie joked.
Jack just put his hands over his ears and kept chanting, 'I'm not hearing this' over and over. Pulling more laughter from the two women next to him. Afterwards Angel hugged them both goodbye and turned to leave. She didn't make it to the steps when she felt a hand wrap around her upper arm. She turned to see her brother standing behind her with a slightly serious look on his face.
"Listen, try not to think of anything else besides the trip. I want you to have a great time with the girls. So in my parting words to you. Don't give that prick another thought. This is your time now and you earned it." He informed her.
Angel gave him a slight smile.
"Thanks, you don't have to worry. I won't give him another thought. Unless I think up another creative way to kill him. Then no promises there." She teased.
Jack chuckled. "Hey, if you happen to think up a very good one. Write it down on paper and give it to me. I'll do the deed myself and leave his ass out in the woods as bear food." He teased back.
Angel laughed with him. Though she has no doubt her brother would probably do it too. He was pissed when he found out. Even more livid because he was the one to find his sister in such emotional distress afterwards in her home. She hasn't answered his calls for nearly a week. Out of worry, he went over to check on her to make sure she was alright. And he found Angel on the couch, tear stained cheeks and very disheveled in appearance.
"If it ever comes to that. I'll even lend you my best shovel. But I have to get going. I'll text you tomorrow morning when I'm on my way." She told him.
With one last parting hug, Angel left and drove back home. When she got in the door, she packed up a couple last minute toiletries and changed out of her uniform into some workout clothes. She did a couple leg stretches before she grabbed her headphones and shoved her iphone in the armband holder.
Angel then grabbed her keys and put them in her pocket and left the house. Already the sun was heading down. She maybe had a half hour left of light to jog. She huffs, never really being a fan of daylight savings. It was rather depressing when the sun went down so early. She often wished she lived in a state that doesn't have daylight savings anymore.
With one last back stretch, Angel left her front porch and started at a leisure pace. Growing up, she was never good at running long distance. She was actually better at short distance sprints. But as she got older, she found a better rhythm with jogging and got use to it. If anything, a half hour was perfect. Usually she couldn't hold a jog longer than thirty-five minutes.
Angel headed to one of the many nearby wooded paths by her place. She decided to go down one of the shorter paths so she won't be stuck jogging in the dark. The woods is definitely not a place you want to get lost in. Especially at night with all the wild animals around. There were also quite a few steep hills not far from the path that you could tumble down if your not careful.
She had been jogging for about fifteen minutes now and well into the woods on the path. Angel was coming up on one of the many creeks that are in these neck of the woods. Some of which cut through the paths and have a bridge over them so you can cross. Really was a great place to go through. Nowhere else was more peaceful than here. Probably why Angel frequents this area so much. Even while she works, a lot of it is out in the field or shall we say woods.
Before she can make it to the first creek up ahead. Something shiny and reflective caught her eye on the side of the trail. Half of whatever it was is buried under dead leaves and dirt. Curiosity got the best of her and she decided to slow down and head over to this bright object on the ground. When Angel knelt down and pushed the leaves off she gasped. Whatever it was, it is round and it's description can only be described as iridescent. Different colors swirled around inside. The first thing that came to mind was crystal ball of some sorts. But this orb was only about softball size.
The bright, reflective colors danced around within the sphere. And Angel was quite entranced with it. She slowly raised her hand towards it, intending to pick it up and get a closer look at the strange supernatural looking object. She touched her fingers to the orb. It was cool to the touch. But then something strange started happening. The orb started to get warm beneath her finger tips and the light reflecting off of it was getting even brighter. Which was odd because the sun was mostly down past the trees and no longer shining on it.
There was a bright flash that temporarily blinded Angel. Her surroundings started to ripple around her like a reflection in the water. Then everything started to warp and swirl about. Everything, except Angel. It was like her surroundings were shifting into something or somewhere else. There was a second flash of blinding light after that. Instinctively she covered her eyes from the sudden brightness.
When she opened her eyes again. Angel squinted, waiting for the spots in her eyes to dissipate. When they finally did and her eyes adjusted, they widened and her mouth dropped a little. She quickly stood up and looked around. She was in a wooded area, but these were not her neck of the woods. Hell, it doesn't look like any area of forest you would find in the whole state of Maine for that manner. Angel's attention was drawn back to the ground when she heard a cracking sound.
She found herself looking back down at the strange glowing orb. Only to see more spider cracks form on it. The cracks eventually encircled the whole orb and after a few seconds it shattered. Angel backed up a bit, not sure what to make of it. It was then she heard someone clear their throat behind her. Angel slowly turned around to face whoever it was.
Only to get the surprise of her life. Standing in front of her was a tall, thin blue man decked out in maroon robes with a center piece going down the front that had a couple shapes on it. But what caught her eyes was his staff. The orb at the top looked very similar to the orb that just shattered.
He narrowed his eyes and rubbed his chin in thought.
"Hmmm, that's strange. I've never heard of a human being able to mysteriously teleport here. Mainly because it's simply not within their power. Forgive me, but just how did you end up here on Lord Beerus's World?" He asked.
Angel was too stunned to say anything at first. Did he really just say Lord Beerus's World? As in Dragon Ball Super? No way! This can't be real. He can't be Whis.
"I...I'm not sure. I found this strange orb while jogging through the woods back home. When I knelt down to inspect it there were these bright flashes. Next thing I know, I'm here." She tells him.
He gives her a skeptical look before she speaks up again.
"I know it sounds fishy. But it's the truth. Look." Angel says, as she points to the remains of the broken orb on the ground slightly behind her.
The man, Whis; walked over and leaned down to inspect the broken orb she pointed out. Then he stood back to his full height and turned his violet gaze back to Angel.
"This is quite peculiar. And you say you just happened upon this orb while strolling through the woods, back on earth?" He asked.
She nods. "Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. Colors were swirling around in it and it was very bright. It was half buried in some dead leaves and dirt on the side of one of the many trails in my hometown."
Whis looked her over like he was analyzing her.
"Your human, this I can tell. But your not from this Universe's earth are you? Your from a completely different place in time, yes?" He inquired.
Angel fiddled with one of her sleeves.
"Is it that obvious?" She asked anxiously.
Whis shrugs his shoulders. "Your energy signature is a little different than most earthlings here. Though what baffles me most is how this orb happened to end up in your Universe. I can only think of one reason. But it was a rumor amongst us divine. You see, what that orb was, is called a Daigon Sphere. It holds many mystical properties and a lot of power."
"I take it this includes mystical transportation to another Universe then." She states.
He nods. "Precisely, though rumor has it that one of them ended up lost in another dimension separate from our own. Of course, not many of us truly believed that. We all simply thought it was destroyed at some point over the last Millennia or two. Guess we were wrong after all."
Angel crosses her arms. "Well, your not wrong about the destroyed part. Because as you can obviously see. This one just ate shit and died. And now, just how in the hell am I going to get back?"
Whis smiles. "There is more than one Daigon Sphere. There were originally three in total. Well, now we're down to two. I wouldn't worry, your welcomed to stay for the time being. At least for a little while. Eventually, I may send you to this universe's earth to be looked after by some mortal friends of ours."
He then gestured for Angel to follow him. She walked in step next to him as they left the woods and entered a clearing. Up ahead in the distance was Lord Beerus's odd shape house castle. Which looked even more incredible in person than on t.v. Is this all really happening? Did I fall, hit my head, and knock myself unconscious on the trail? So many questions were floating around inside her head at the moment.
"How's this possible?" She said, in a breathy whisper.
Whis looked down at the young woman with a slight smile.
"I like to think just about anything is possible." He told her.
Angel nodded absentmindedly, while not taking her eyes off the surreal scenery around her.
"Normally he hates being woken up from one of his naps. But obviously, this is important. I'm sure he won't be so cranky after we inform him of the event that just taken place." He informed her.
Her eyes widened. "We?" She squeaked out.
Sure, she thought Lord Beerus and Whis were cool. But that doesn't mean she'd be all that comfortable around the food crazy destroyer who could wipe her out of existence in the blink of an eye.
"Yes, we. I know he would like to hear what you had just informed me. Don't worry, he won't be angry. If anything, he will be quite intrigued. But, before we go any further might I ask your name?" He asked the young woman.
"I'm Angel, Angel Mancini." She told him. Still slightly in shock at what had just taken place.
He gave her a friendly smile. "Whis, also known as Lord Beerus's faithful attendant."
Part of her hopes this really is some crazy dream she will wake up from. But everything around her seemed so real. She can feel a slight breeze hit her face and the ground beneath her feet. Definitely too vivid to be a dream. All she could do right now, is follow Whis back to Lord Beerus's Castle. And hopefully, someone can provide her with more info on how she can get back home.
Must be quite a shock for Angel. And the reason why she hasn't gone completely hysterical is because the situation hasn't really hit her yet and she's also most likely in shock herself. But as she stated, hopefully she will get more answers in the near future. Until Next Time ;)
