Chapter 104
Alex crouched next to Tegan sleeping and tried to pick her up. Tegan woke up "No... Where are we going? I want to stay here" complained Tegan and tried to stop him. She was like an exhausted five year old after her birthday party. "Tee, everyone's going to bed now. It's almost 3am dude" said Sara. "Oh... okay... I guess I... dozed off" said Tegan sounding disappointed. "You and your FOMO... Don't worry you didn't miss much. We were done with the singing, we were just talking" said Sara. "Let's go to bed bud... we're all super tired. We must be getting old" said Erin. "And you... need some rest now" said Kate. Tegan sat up and rubbed her eyes. She hugged some people goodnight and yawned as she got up. She stumbled clumsily over her own feet. "Careful!" said Kate catching Tegan. "Gosh you'd swear I was drunk" said Tegan. "You just need some rest Tee... let's get you to bed" smiled Kate. Lindsey put her arm around Tegan's waist. "Thank you guys... for everything... for the best day of our lives" said Tegan becoming teary. "You got it Teetee... go do bed sis, you look out on your feet" said Sara. "Good thing we're staying at the hotel tonight" said Lindsey. The group started slowly walking up to the hotel that was booked out exclusively for the wedding guests. Tegan stopped halfway up and put her hands on her knees and hung her head. "Tee... sweetie? Everything okay?" asked Lindsey. Tegan stayed quiet and put her hand up indicating for them to give her a moment. "Tegan, talk to me" said Kate. Tegan stared stumbling around again as the dizziness hit her. "I'm... a bit lightheaded" said Tegan. "Come here kiddo" said Alex and picked her up with ease. "Relax I've got you" he said. "Superhero" smiled Tegan weakly. "Considering your stumbling around like this I want to just check your vitals before bed okay" said Kate. Tegan was already out like a light with her head resting on Alex's shoulder. "She's finished" smiled Alex.
Alex gently lay Tegan down on the bed and turned to hug Lindsey. "Goodnight Linds... thanks for a great day" he said and left the room. Kate entered the room with her bag. "Linds, why don't you go get ready for bed, I just want to check Tegan's BP real quick. I'm a bit worried about her lightheadedness" said Kate. "Um... okay" said Lindsey, not very eager to leave Tegan. "It's okay" smiled Kate as she wrapped the BP cuff around Tegan's bicep. Tegan woke up as she inflated the cuff. "Hey Tee... go back to sleep. I'll be done soon okay" said Kate. Tegan was too tired to complain. "Okay" she mumbled and closed her eyes. Sara was standing at the end of the bed looking nervous. Kate frowned as she looked at the result on the BP gauge. She put the pulse ox meter on Tegan's finger and listened to her heart and lungs. Lindsey came out of the bathroom. "Everything okay Kate?" she asked. "Her oxygen levels are fine and her heart and lungs sound good but her blood pressure is quite low again. She's had a reeeally busy day. It's probably just that. I'm going to put her on a slow IV for the night though and give her some saline and meds." said Kate taking the IV bag out of her medical kit. Lindsey looked worried. "Hey.. it's nothing to be worried about okay. She just still needs a bit of vascular support every now and then. I want her to have a good night's rest and wake up ready for tomorrow. She'll have a better chance of doing that after the IV" said Kate. She tied off Tegan's arm to find a vein in her hand. She tapped her hand a few more times and tried to insert the IV. She pulled the needle out and tapped again shaking her head. "Come on... where are you" she mumbled to herself. Tegan woke up with a "Ooouch!". Lindsey stroke her hair. "Shhh baby almost there" she whispered. Kate looked up at Sara rubbing the top of Tegan's hand. She seemed to be in control but Sara still felt nervous. "What's wrong?" asked Sara. "Just struggling a bit to find a vein with this low pressure" she said as she tried again. "Okay there we go" she said as she successfully inserted the IV and taped it to Tegan's hand. She was asleep again. Kate looked around for a place to hang the bag and eventually tied it to one of the lights over the bed. "She's going to be just fine Linds but please call me if you need me. I'm right next door okay" said Kate. "Let me help you get her into bed" she said. "Well I'm not helping to undress my sister so I'll see you back in the room sweetie" said Sara. "Sleep well Linds... what a great day" smiled Sara and left. Kate and Lindsey gently removed Tegan's clothing and tucked her in under the covers.
Kate yawned as she entered her and Sara's room. Sara was sitting on the edge of the bed looking nervous. "Is she okay?" she asked. "Yeah. She will be after the drip" said Kate not looking overly worried. "Fuck this... when is she going to be healthy again?" asked Sara sounding emotional. "Sar... these things... take time. She's making good progress and this kind of thing isn't exactly unexpected." said Kate pulling Sara's chin up. "It just feels as if... every time something good happens... it's followed by a setback... it's like one step forward two steps back all the time" said Sara. "No... it's like ten steps forward, two steps back Sara... give it time. It's not a setback... It is what it is... She still requires constant care whether we like to admit it or not. Tegan's not going to be hundred percent for a while... but she'll get there" said Kate. "What would happen if you weren't here" asked Sara. "Well... I wouldn't have given her permission to come here. And she would have had a few visits to the ER and she probably would've been re-admitted a few times. But I'm here... so that question..." said Kate shaking her head. "I know you're worried about her... but I need you to trust me Sara. I've got this. Let's go to bed. I'm tired" said Kate walking to the bathroom. "Kate..." said Sara. Kate stopped and looked around. "I trust you... thank you" said Sara. Kate's one corner of her mouth turned up in a half hearted smile.
Tegan woke up to some birds chirping. She looked at her sleeping wife and smiled. She didn't want to wake her but had an urgent need to wee. She felt well rested and relaxed. She didn't even consider that she still had an IV line in her hand. She started jogging towards the bathroom and suddenly felt the needle ripping violently out of her hand after the line attached to the light above the bed tightened. "Ahh fuck" she shouted and grabbed her hand. Blood was squirting everywhere. Lindsey woke up startled. "Tegan! What's wrong" she yelled. "Ahhhh shit! I ripped the IV out by accident... it's bleeding pretty bad" she said. Lindsey jumped up and followed a naked Tegan into the bathroom. She grabbed a towel and put pressure on Tegan's hand. The sight of Tegan's blood made her feel woozy. "Dammit... I'm phoning Kate" she said. "No... it's fine we can just put a band aid on it" said Tegan. Lindsey lifted the towel and blood started squirting again. "Tee this is going to need more than just a bandaid babe" she said and turned to vomit into the toilet. "You okay babe?" asked Tegan looking pale. Lindsey nodded, flushed the toilet and rinsed her mouth. "I hate the sight of blood... especially when it's your blood" said Lindsey but started wiping blood off Tegan's body with a wet facecloth. Tegan sat down on the toilet, finally relieving her pressing bladder still holding the towel on her hand. Lindsey fetched Tegan some pajamas. "Let's get you decent before I call Kate... she's seen my wife naked way too many times" smiled Lindsey. Tegan seemed calm. "Come here my wife" she smiled and pressed Lindsey up against the walll with her body and kissed her. "Not a great way to wake up the first day as a married couple" chuckled Tegan. "I'm sorry baby... and last night... I was looking forward to consummating the marriage but fuck was I tired!" smiled Tegan kissing Lindsey again still holding pressure on her bleeding hand. "Don't worry, so was I! We have the rest of our lives to make love Tegan" smiled Lindsey. "Yes we do" whispered Tegan seductively and kissed Lindsey's neck. "Baby..." said Lindsey panting. "Let's get you patched up first or I'm going to faint!" Kate and Sara rushed into the room wearing bathrobes after receiving Lindsey's phone call. "What the fuck Tee... are you okay? You scared the shit of us" said Sara. "Sorry... I guess I forgot I had the IV line in" said Tegan. Kate lifted the towel to inspect the wound. "Mmm... looks as if the needle tore the skin and the vein a bit... I don't know if I can fix this here" said Kate. Tegan's face fell. "Please Kate. Just try, I don't want to see an ER today" said Tegan sounding desperate. "Okay... I'll try" said Kate. "This thing was squirting like nobody's business, looks as if you lost a bit of blood" said Kate. "If you wanted the damn thing out so bad you should've just called" smiled Kate trying to ease Lindsey and Sara's nerves. "Sar... can you organise Tegan something to eat to get her sugar up and I'm sure we can all use some coffee" she said pulling on her gloves. "Lie down on the pillows and relax. Let's get a BP and blood glucose first. Lindsey, keep pressure on the wound please" smiled Kate. Kate managed to patch Tegan up with the supplies she had in her bag after her BP and glucose checked out okay. Tegan was now acting as if nothing happened stuffing her face with some toasts with her non bandaged hand. "Well thanks doc... see you on the yacht" said Tegan trying to get rid of Kate and Sara. "Sure... can you please try and be less clumsy... I don't want to have to fish you out of the water if you go overboard" joked Kate. "Yeah... I'm sorry I'm such a hassle Kate... I know this is not what you want to be doing on your vacation" said Tegan suddenly looking dejected. "Hey... don't worry about it Teebag... it's what I do" shrugged Kate. "Come on Kate... we still have two hours before we have to officially be up" said Sara. Tegan snuggled in next to Lindsey after Sara and Kate left. "Sorry again..." she whispered. "It's fine boo I'm just glad you're okay. Does it hurt?" said Lindsey. "No... not really, Kate numbed me up pretty well" said Tegan. She put her hand on Lindsey's stomach. "They're growing so much... and they're kicking" smiled Tegan. "This is turning out to be a great year after all" she said as Lindsey played with her hair. "It is indeed" said Lindsey. "Yesterday was the best day of my life... but I have a feeling it's not going to hold the title for very long when these two arrive" she said. "Ha... true" laughed Tegan. "I love you my wife" she said. "I love you more" said Lindsey. "You and me babe... you and me and two beautiful babies..." said Tegan. "Me and you... and these two" smiled Lindsey and kissed Tegan's head. They dozed off in each other's arms.
After a very late breakfast a large group of wedding guests greeted Tegan and Lindsey on a magnificent, large yacht. "Whoaa! Wedding night get outa hand?" joked Ellen when she saw Tegan's bandaged hand. "I wish... I'm just a clutz that's all... it's nothing" sighed Tegan. "Ships ahoy! Let's sail!" yelled Tegan as the party got started. She started dancing with Ellen but quickly quieted down when she saw Kate give her a look of disapproval. "Party pooper" she mumbled. They had a great time relaxing on the yacht. Some of the guys were chilling in the hot tub and Tegan lay on a lounger looking cool as ever with her sunglasses and a fedora on. It was a beautiful day and the water was calm sparing the passengers from being sea-sick. Sara dragged Kate to the lower deck giggling. She threw her up against a wall and started a passionate make out session. "There's a cabin just here... they call it the luuuv cabin" she said seductively kissing Kate. "Oh I like your thinking sailor Sara" said Kate as she put her hands under Sara's bum and picked her up. Sara threw her legs around Kate and giggled as Kate clumsily carried Sara to the cabin and put her down on the bed. Sara's phone started ringing "Fuck it..." said Kate and Sara continued kissing her. The phone stopped and then started again. "Dammit... the subscriber you have dialed is not available at present" she said. The phone started ringing a third time. "Fuck... just get it" said Kate annoyed. "I swear if this is the fucking record label I'm gonna lose my shit" said Sara annoyed. "Hello..." she snapped. "Yeah this is Sara... Um yeah sure hang on I'll get her" she said and turned to Kate looking flustered. "Kate... could you please go fetch Erin" she said. "Sure... is everything okay?" said Kate concerned. "Yeah... I'll fill you in later. It's fine baby" she said. "Can you call me back in a few minutes." said Sara into the phone and hung up. She sat on the edge of the bed and put her head in her hand. Two minutes later Erin and Kate burst into the room. "What's up?" asked Erin confused. The phone started ringing again. "Kate... can you give us a minute" said Sara as she answered. Kate frowned but left the cabin. "Erin's here... you're on speaker" said Sara. "I'm sorry for bothering you on vacation... My name is Peter Black, I'm the prosecutor in the kidnapping case. I needed to speak to you to let you know that we need both of your to testify in court next Monday." said the voice. Erin sat down on the bed looking spooked. "Hang on... you have our statements... we identified her. I thought she would confess... I mean is there any way she could win this in court?" asked Sara sounding scared. "Ms Quin... she did confess. But she's going to court to contest the charge. She's saying that she didn't know what she was doing... that the man made her do it... that he brainwashed her" said Peter. "What a load of hogwash" blurted Erin. "I know... she's grasping at straws. She's undergoing psychiatric evaluation right now and I'm hoping that will prove that she knew exactly what she was doing. We have a great case against her but we're relying on your testimony" he said. "Fuck... I don't think I can do this" said Erin with tears in her eyes. "We're just getting over this" she said. "I know this is hard... but I'm going to make sure you two are okay. Please... we don't want her doing this to somebody else" said the voice. Erin shook her head from side to side. Sara put her hand on Erin's shoulder. "We'll be there... but you leave Tegan out of this okay" she said. "Right now your sister is not on the state's witness list and I don't see a reason for the defense to call her but I can't guarantee..." the man got cut of by an irate Sara, "You want our testimony you leave Tegan out of this... promise me!" said Sara loudly. "Okay... I won't call her I promise. And I'll oppose it if the defense does" he said. "When will you be back in LA? I need to prep you two" he said. "We're landing tomorrow. Can we do it the day after?" said Sara. "That's fine... I'll be in touch. Thanks for your time" said the man and hung up. Erin lay back on the bed and put her arm over her eyes. "Fuck her" she said, her voice shaking. Sara was quiet for a while. "We'll get through this... she's not going to hurt us again E... we won't let her win. It will be over soon" she said. They heard a soft knock on the door. "Come in" said Sara. Kate and Alex entered looking worried. "What's going on?" said Alex as he sat down next to Erin. She sat up and put her arms around him. Kate took Sara's hand "Baby you're scaring me" she said. "It's... everything's fine... they just want us... to testify against Susan on Monday" said Sara.. "Ahh shit... do they have to put you through this!" said Alex sounding pissed. "It's okay Alex. We can do this... We're going to do this and put the fucking nightmare behind us once and for all" said Erin. "Let's go back up... and guys... can we not mention this to anybody else until we're back in LA... I don't want to spoil anybody's day" said Sara. Everybody nodded. Alex led a shaky Erin out of the room by the hand. "You okay Sar?" asked Kate softly. "I am... but I'm pissed off that he spoiled our fun" she said annoyed. "I'm sorry Katie... I just don't feel like it anymore" said Sara. "I understand" said Kate and kissed Sara's hand. "Chin up sailor... let's go get you a cocktail" said Kate. "I'm so happy I have you... I... I don't think I can go through this alone" said Sara. "I'll be there holding your hand through all of it Sara... I'll never let anybody hurt you again" said Kate seriously.
