Chapter Four: What Happened Before: Part 1
It's me! Contrary to popular belief, I'm not actually dead. A lot has happened in the past month, and writing wasn't really my top priority. I am so sorry about not updating for such a long time, and I'm gifting you a long chapter to make up for it. Enjoy!
. . . . .
"A tour?" Ahsoka questioned. "The only thing I want to know is how we got down here. From what I remember, there weren't any entrances big enough for us."
"Yeah," Anakin agreed. "I remember that too."
Revan grinned slightly. "Exactly. You don't remember how you got in. There's a reason we sedated you before bringing you into our home. We didn't know if you were trustworthy." Revan's smile quickly faded as he remembered something. "Come to think of it, we still don't know if we can fully trust you."
The Jedi and clones all exchanged a quick glance before Anakin spoke up. "But your mother trusts us. Doesn't that mean anything?"
"My mother doesn't trust anyone, not even her so-called 'influential city members'. She thinks that the second she lets her guard down, they'll turn on her and everything will be thrown into chaos again." A grim expression darkened Revan's face as he spoke.
"Again?" Rex questioned.
"What?" Revan asked
"You said 'again'. That implies that something happened before. Something bad." Rex explained.
"Oh, did I?" Revan asked, trying- and miserably failing- to play it off as a mistake. His scared expression and nervous tone gave him away, however.
"What happened?" Ahsoka pressed, curiosity getting the better of her.
"Well, I totally messed up there." Revan said, admitting to his revelation. "Since you are all so stubborn," he paused to glare at each one of them, "I might as well tell you. Oh boy, I'm going to be in a whole galaxy of trouble for telling you this.
"Just after the hunters were finally stopped, all of the colony leaders realized that there were nowhere near enough of us to populate multiple individual cities, so they got together to discuss what should be done. What was supposed to be a short, civil debate about the future of our species turned into a month long, verbal spar that resulted in no winner." Revan finished, an undercurrent of rage mixing with his words.
"That does not sound like a fun meeting," Hardcase joked. This comment earned a practiced look from Anakin. One that seemed to call for silence.
"Why couldn't they come to an agreement?" Ahsoka asked, urging Revan to continue.
"Because they're all selfish monarchs," Revan spat. He appeared to have a personal grudge against these people. "While they were having their stupid argument, chaos swept through all of the cities that they were supposed to be overseeing. Crime rates increased, food and resources became almost nonexistent, and people's lives were flipped upside down! And not once did our leaders send supplies or even spread simple words of hope!"
An overwhelming sense of anger and betrayal radiated off of Revan and into the force. It was so strong, especially since they had forgotten that the Klarno were force sensitive, that both Anakin and Ahsoka started to, simultaneously, develop headaches.
For a few minutes, no one said a word. The silence hung in the air, more heavy than any word could have been right then, before finally Revan spoke. "My father was killed during the worst of it all. I ran as he died, and I will never forgive myself for that."
It was quiet for another couple seconds, before finally, someone spoke.
"I'm sorry," Ahsoka said. She scoured her brain in an attempt to find what Master Kenobi, or even Master Yoda, would say in this situation. "Just remember that he will always be with you, in the force."
"Kriff the force!" Revan yelled, catching everyone off guard. "Where was it when everyone was suffering? Where was it when we all needed help? Where was it when my father needed help!?"
It was Anakin who spoke this time. He also was trying to come up with a more 'Jedi-like' response. "The force works in mysterious ways, but you are never truly alone."
Revan groaned. "Why am I even trying to have this conversation with Jedi? It's not like you ever even knew your parents!" He said, anger lacing his every word.
Anakin scowled at that statement. He wanted to yell at Revan, to tell him about Shmi, but his expression softened as he remembered how he had reacted to her death. When the Council tried to give him the "She is always with you in the force" talk, he had reacted quite similarly.
"Just forget about it," Revan sighed, the accusing look on his face morphing into a more neutral one.
Both the Jedi and the clones sighed in relief when they saw that Revan had calmed down.
"For right now, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you won't kill me if I show you around," he said. "Shall we go?"
. . . . .
Jessie, Tup, Kix, and Coric stood together as a GAR issued gunship touched down in front of them. The blast doors slid open to reveal Jedi master Obi-wan Kenobi, Commander Cody, and two other members of the 212th.
"General," Jesse greeted.
"Hello there," Kenobi said. "I see that Anakin isn't here. Has he landed yet?"
The four members of the 501st stayed silent for a moment, each one hoping that they wouldn't have to be the one to inform the General of their missing comrades. When someone finally spoke, it was Kix.
"Actually, he was the first to land." Kix began. This sentence was met with a confused glance from Kenobi, who had been looking around the camp in an attempt to spot his former Padawan. "He, Commander Tano, Captain Rex, Hardcase, Fives, and Echo went to scout ahead a few hours ago. We...haven't heard from them since."
To the surprise of everyone present, Obi-wan didn't say anything. Instead, an amused smile worked it's way onto his face, and was soon accompanied by a light chuckle.
"Oh, Anakin." Obi-wan said to no one in particular. "There he goes again, always getting himself into trouble."
. . . . .
And that was part one of chapter four! I am going to be splitting this one into two parts, but it won't take me a month to update this time. I still feel bad about that, so here's a sneak peek into the next part:
"And here's the last stop on our tour." Revan said as he stopped in what appeared to be some kind of park. It was hard for the Republicans to tell since everything was small to them.
"A park?" Fives questioned as he looked around.
"It is a park, but that isn't the important thing about this stop," Revan confirmed as confused expressions glued themselves to both the Jedi and clones' faces.
Revan smiled as he said, "The important thing is who we are meeting here."
Everyone's confusion only grew as Revan waved over a blue Klarno. "I figured that since I'm already going to be in trouble for telling you about our history, I might as well go all out." Revan paused as he shook hands with the blue Klarno.
"This is Adaka. She was present for the month long meeting."
. . . . .
I forgot to mention that the name Revan was a suggestion from Jadeelf254, and Adaka is from KarajeJinsta in honor of one of her OCs. Be sure to check out her fics to see her debut! If you have stuck with me for this long, thank you! May the force be with you!
