Chapter Five: What Happened Before: Part 2
Before I jump into this chapter, I want to get a few things out of the way.
KarajeJinsta: Thank you for your suggestions and help! I've been trying to find a new writing tool, so bare with me for now. Hope you enjoy the chapter, and that I did justice to your OC.
Guest (reader): A new person! I was going to wait a while to finish this chapter, but your review(s) made my day, so I decided to gift you an upload. As for your comment about the "identical ones" line, I find it funny that you brought that up. I spent a lot of time thinking before I decided on that line. The reason I went with identical is because they share basically every physical feature (we're excluding hair, tattoos, etc.). They could be a rare case of identical quadruplets, but considering that's highly unlikely, even in the Star Wars universe, I went with identical. Sorry about my rant, I hope you understand my train of thought, and enjoy the chapter!
. . . . .
Count Dooku strode into the dim room, his cape billowing behind him, and confidence practically radiating off of his person. He stopped briefly by the door to glare at the droids in the room, before continuing to the large, durasteel communications table that took up the midsection of the room. He silently entered a series of numbers and codes before falling to the ground in a deep bow.
"Lord Tyrannous," a cloaked figure acknowledged as the hologram flared to life.
"My Master," Dooku greeted.
"Tell me," the hologram began, "How fares your mission?" His question held a threat. He was almost daring Dooku to provide an answer that neither wanted to hear. An answer, that both knew, was correct.
Count Dooku hesitated for a moment, debating whether or not he should inform his master of his droids' folly, and the Jedi's newfound knowledge of their plan. However, his hesitation lasted a second too long, giving his master all the response he needed.
"Must I remind you of the importance of this mission?" The cloaked figure hissed, venom encasing his tone. "We've been preparing for this for years, and I am not about to let you mess everything up! Fail me, and you will see just how 'forgiving' I really am."
Droids all around the room froze, pausing their tasks to listen to the ongoing conversation. After all, it wasn't often that someone threatened Count Dooku, and lived to tell the tale.
"Yes... Lord Sidious," Dooku said, his calm, confident demeanor falling.
"Consider this your last warning," Sidious ominously stated, before swiftly ending the holo-call.
And with that, Count Dooku stood from his spot on the ground, turned on his heel, and made his way to the door. But in that moment, something changed in him. There was now a sense of determination, accompanied by something the Count rarely felt, something he hated. Fear.
Dooku was afraid, and that thought scared him even more.
. . . . .
"And here's the last stop on our tour." Revan said as he stopped in what appeared to be some kind of park. It was hard for the Republicans to tell since everything was small to them.
"A park?" Fives questioned as he looked around.
"It is a park, but that isn't the important thing about this stop," Revan confirmed as confused expressions glued themselves to both the Jedi and clones' faces.
Revan smiled as he said, "The important thing is who we are meeting here."
Everyone's confusion only grew as Revan waved over a blue Klarno. "I figured that since I'm already going to be in trouble for telling you about our history, I might as well go all out." Revan paused as he shook hands with the blue Klarno.
"This is Adaka. She was present for the Month Long Meeting."
"You were there?" Anakin asked, disbelief oozing from his voice. "But I thought that the meeting took place years ago."
"It did," Adaka said, stirring up even more confusion in her companions. A warm smile spread on her face before she explained. "Let's just say that Klarno age...differently."
That was when Revan stepped in. "Anyways, I met Adaka a little while after all the Klarno relocated to our new homes," He almost spat out that last word, but everyone thought it better not to question him.
Adaka nodded before stepping forward. "So, Revan tells me you want to know about the Month Long Meeting?"
Her question was met with a chorus of "Yes" and a flurry of nods.
Adaka's smile widened as she rubbed her hands together. "Good, because I've got one heck of a story for you. I attended the meeting as a scribe. My main job was to keep track of what was said, decisions that were made, that kind of stuff.
"It all started nicely. Greetings were made, pleasantries exchanged, and everyone was happy. Then, the debate began. Everyone started arguing that their kingdoms were suffering, and needed help since there weren't enough Klarno to perform all of the necessary city tasks. It became some kind of competition between the leaders, and it alone lasted for days. Not many decisions were reached during that time, but somehow, everyone eventually realised that there weren't enough Klarno for multiple cities, and that we'd all have to live together if we wanted to survive."
Hardcase opened his mouth, ready to make a comment, but he quickly closed it after an elbow to the ribs, courtesy of Echo.
"That created a whole new argument, one that lasted a lot longer than the first," Adaka continued. "Everyone said that their kingdoms should become the new home of the Klarno since it was 'clearly the best right now', which was stupid considering the prior argument. In time, a lot of time, a decision was reached to create an entirely new city, but once again, that led to another fight."
"What a surprise," Anakin sarcastically interjected.
Adaka laughed slightly before continuing. "That time, people were arguing over who would become the new leader once the city was established. That was the fight that lasted the longest. For now, I'll skip over the...details, and go straight to the consensus. The leaders finally agreed, not unanimously, that none of them could continue to rule. So they came to a compromise. We had a drawing."
"A drawing? That was the best thing you could think of?" Ahsoka criticized. "You could have gotten a total idiot as a leader, and all they would've had to do was put their name in a hat!"
"I'll admit, it wasn't the best idea, but I didn't really get to choose what happened and what didn't," Adaka defended. "Hazel was chosen, and she's been a great leader. The former monarchs refuse to give up their power, and they now form some kind of 'city council'. They don't do anything, but they never really did, so I guess not much changed."
Hardcase spoke next, quickly this time so as not to be interrupted by Echo.
"That was the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Ever."
Both Revan and Adaka smiled sadistically, and exchanged a glance, before Adaka spoke. "Unfortunately, I have to agree. But we can't do much about what happened before."
. . . . .
And that was chapter five! Was it good? Bad? Tell me what you thought! This sounds ridiculously cheesy, but reviews really are a great motivation. I'm sorry that these last few chapters have been a little slow going, but I need to set the stage before the performance can begin. And Guest, your requested character wasn't in this chapter, but I do have a plan for them in the next one! Have a great day!
-Olivia :)
