"I don't believe it. A train that travels underwater from Paris all the way to the UK. So many possibilities from this point onward." Miles said, having seen news of the unveiling of the new startrain.
"I've heard Max's mom will be the conductor for it." Saaya said.
"Once we get the chance, we should ride the thing." Peni said.
"You know what I don't get?" Noir spoke up walking in. "I dunno why it's called the "Startrain", when it goes underground through the ocean. With a name like that, shouldn't it travel through space?"
"Noir, you are so old-fashioned." Hiyoko teased.
"Well he is from a dimension set in the 1930's, but there's nothing wrong with being old fashioned." Saaya said.
"Not all of us need to rely on technology to fight bad guys." Noir said, touching his hat. "You people in this dimension are too confusing with all that stuff. I prefer my way of doing things."
"Knock it off, all of you!" Miles called out. "Seriously. I was excited about this train and now you spoiled it."
"He's got a point, guys. There's no need to be so nitpicky about everything." Sachiko said.
"Hmm...yeah...think this has spoiled my mood too." Lea said. "Ah yeah...that reminds me."
"Wait, where are you going?" Xion asked.
"I promised Marinette I would find this guy. Rolland Dupain." Lea said.
"Rolland Dupain? Oh, her grandfather." Crusadermon said.
"Yep. Apparently he and her old man don't see eye to eye. So, I found the guy's address and she wants me to meet with her to get him." Lea said.
"Oh that's right it's her dad's birthday." Saaya said.
"I've heard…" Peni said before Lea put a finger over her mouth.
"You have heard nothing. I'm going to get away from all this crazy tech vs old stuff talk. Anyone sane enough to join me, be my guest." Lea said.
"Wait for me!" Saaya said.
"Not you." Lea said. "Hmm...I'll take her." he said pointing to Mari who wasn't even paying attention.
"Huh?" Mari said with a dumbfounded expression as Mercury looked as well. Before she could ask what was happening, Lea grabbed her by the shirt collar.
"Come on." Lea said.
"Think I'll go too." Usopp said. "Better than staying here."
"Wait! I'm coming too!" Miles said as the two ran after him.
Later...
"Uh...you sure you got his house and not a dump?" Usopp asked, seeing the old style house.
"This is the right address." Lea said as Marinette caught up with them. "There you are."
"Sorry. Okay...let's do this." Marinette said as she pressed the button. The lid over a pipe then flipped down.
"Who's there?" a voice demanded.
"Uh...we're baking apprentices and…" Miles said.
"No apprentices. Go away." the voice said before the lid flipped back up.
"Wow, I guess this is what people are like when they stay at home all their life." Mari said.
"Wrong kind of analysis. Still, how are we gonna get in? If we tell him Marinette is his granddaughter, he'll never let us in." Miles said.
"Hmm." Lea said before seeing a flour delivery truck. "I may have an idea about that." Lea said.
A few seconds later, they returned each carrying a sack of flour.
"Who is there?" the voice said.
"We're here with your flour delivery." Lea said.
"Would you kindly let us in so we may give it to you?" Mari asked.
"Okay." the voice said as the gates opened. They showed themselves in to see it was an old fashioned house with many old things. In the back in the kitchen was a single old man and three white mice as he worked on some dough. "Just put it in the usual spot."
"Uh...the usual spot?" Lea asked before the old man turned around.
"Who are you? You aren't the usual delivery people." Rolland demanded.
"No. We're...apprentice...flour...delivery...people. Hoping to own a joint flour shop someday." Usopp said.
"I see, very well then. Put the bags down and be on your way." Rolland said getting back to his work.
"So uh...huh...that's a weird looking computer." Miles said.
"A computer? In my house? That's a TV!" Rolland said.
"Does it even work?" Lea asked.
"No. One night, I turned it on and ...poof...finit. But I would rather stick with this instead of those new fangled creations." Rolland said.
"Oh, you like sticking to the stuff from your day, eh?" Lea asked.
"Are you a flour delivery boy or a philosopher?" Rolland said.
"Eh...take your pick." Lea said.
"Hmm...may I?" Marinette said as she started doing some dough rolling with the old man.
"This bread is the only thing traditional in my life. I even still use the yeast from my ancestors when they made it. Then the Romans came and put vegetables and cheese on it. They made it pizza!" Rolland said.
"We like pizza." Miles said.
"You like pizza? Hahaha...that's not how it's done! Just like how my son thought putting rice in bread to make it lighter. It's not how it's done!" Rolland said.
"Hmm...what if my bread is better than yours? Would you consider apologizing to your son then?" Marinette said.
"Better?" Rolland said as he started laughing. "My friends...we're going to show this delivery girl how it is done." he said to the mice as they brought him ingredients.
"So...have you ever...talked with your son?" Mari asked.
"I have no son. Not since the day he betrayed me." Rolland said.
"Just cause he did something the non-traditional way doesn't mean it's any good." Lea said.
"I don't have to know if it's good. I know it is bad because that is not how it's done!" Rolland said.
"Just apologize to your son." Miles said.
"No! I have no son!" Rolland said.
"Damn, of course you do! Hell, your granddaughter came out all this way just to get you to see him!" Lea said.
"What?" Rolland said, looking to Marinette.
"He's...right. I'm Marinette Dupain Cheng. I'm your granddaughter." Marinette said.
"This...is not possible. I have no granddaughter. Liar. Betrayal! Out you all go!" Rolland said pushing them.
"Hold on. You promised us a bread off." Miles said.
"They say in here!" Rolland said pushing them into a room and shutting the door.
"Well, that happened." Usopp said.
"This guy is so adverse in his own ways that he refuses to accept it done any way else." Mari said.
"Yeah. The guy is nuts." Lea said before hearing some noises from the kitchen. "Hey, old man. Rolland?" he said before the door was kicked down as standing there was a being made of bread.
"Rolland is no more. I am Bakerix! Now I shall rid Paris of the Modern World and return things to how they should be." he said ingesting his yeast and becoming stronger as he leapt out into Paris.
"We gotta stop him." Mari said.
"Yeah. If we don't, he's gonna tear apart all of Paris." Usopp said as they ran after him.
Bakerix landed right in the middle of the city as a bus approached. "Why does this bus not make noise?"
"It runs on electricity." the driver said.
"An electric bus? That's not how it's done! They're supposed to make noise, run on gas and spew out black smoke out the back! I reject modern buses!" Bakerix said, tossing away the bus.
Ladybug arrived on the scene and used her yo-yo wire to make a net, catching the bus safely. The others then arrived afterwards.
"What's this now? A Flying superhero? And other heroes? That is not how it's done! Police and the army handle law enforcement, not solo people." Bakerix said.
"You can't just force your own traditions onto everyone else, they follow their own!" Mari said.
"You don't decide that. Only I can!" Bakerix said grabbing them and tossing them away. As they flew far, they were soon caught by Cat Noir and actual Noir and some of the others.
"So...what exactly is going on here?" Kaminari asked.
"Yeah...uh...long story short...Rolland got akumatized." Lea said.
"Yeah, we can tell." Sachiko said.
"We got here as soon as we could." Saaya said.
"From what I can tell, he draws his strength from a potion at his waist, so if we get rid of that, we can cut off his supply." Mari said.
"Yeah...that's gonna be difficult." Lea said.
They hurried near the louvre as Bakerix looked at the pyramid. "A pyramid in the king's court? Never!" he said leaping to it before being knocked off balance.
"Sorry, but you're not going any further." Sachiko said.
"Some of us happen to like this landmark. Blending old and new, yknow?" Kaminari asked.
"Treachery! Treason!" Bakerix said, drinking more of his yeast and powering up again, lifting the glass pyramid. "You're all out of your league. You don't have enough experience!" he said throwing it over the group and trapping them.
"This guy's lashing out at everything modern." Noir said. "If that's the case…. I might know where he's going next. The Unveiling of the Startrain."
"Of course. Luckily...we have a short cut." Miles said seeing the manhole.
As the heroes cut through the sewers, Bakerix arrived at the train station and saw all the ads for the Starrain.
"What? A train that goes underwater? Is it a train, or a submarine? That's not how it's done!" Bakerix said getting even more riled up. "If you wanted to go to England, you take a boat, get seasick." he said before crashing through and wrecking the place.
"That's as far as you go!" Lea called out with his Chakrams summoned. "You gotta stop it, old man. There are people in there."
"Then they better get off because this train is going to the scrapyard!" Bakerix said, tossing the train through a wall.
"We gotta stop this guy." Kaminari said.
"We can't. This guy gets pissed off at everything modern or…" Lea said before seeing the food stand. "Anything with bread. I think I got an idea." he said running over there.
"Rar!" Bakerix said smashing through the station as he approached the heroes with a raised fist.
"Well well...a lot of candy and gum between two slices of bread. Doesn't that sound delicious?" Lea said, holding said sandwich.
"What?!" Bakerix asked. "I will….Oh ho...I know what you're trying to do. I'm not going to fall for such an easy trick."
"Well, then you won't mind if I add a little ketchup." Lea said doing so. "Now it looks just like...pizza."
Bakerix stood there and twitched before going at Lea who took off running. "That's not how a sandwich is made!"
"Ha. Knew that would get him. Cat Noir! Now!" Lea said.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir said, destroying the large sewer grate.
Bakerix chased him outside and onto the grate before it broke leaving him floating in the air of a large fan. He attempted to power up more only for his solution to fly away.
"Won't be needing that." Lea said, tossing a chakram down as it cut right through the canteen, releasing the Akuma as Ladybug caught and purified it.
Back on the Galaxy King…
"Roland is back at his place safe and okay with Marinette." Noir said. "Y'know, that guy was a little TOO traditional for my taste. Don't you think so, Sachiko?"
"Kind of. I'm just glad he didn't say anything about Crusadermon. Otherwise, she would've flipped out." Sachiko said.
"Oh, I get where she's coming from." Jalter said.
"Yeah, I'd rather not say it." Sachiko said.
"Least he's slowly accepting tradition...somewhat." Usopp said. "Least he likes rice bread."
"Thank goodness. Now we can get back to our modern lifestyle." Miles said.
