The next chapter is up! Enjoy :)
Several Months Later...
Angel grumbled as she tried getting up from the couch. Who would've thought getting up, pulling up your pants, and putting on shoes would be such a challenge. No matter what, her belly always seemed to get in the way. There were times, Frieza would find it amusing. Until a few times she would cry out of frustration. He just needed to remind her that they were near the end now.
Which was true, Angel was already eight and a half months along now. She always imagined it to be a beautiful experience. Watching your belly grow as the months went on. But instead, it was more annoying at times than anything. She just wasn't use to carrying around all that extra weight. And it certainly annoyed her to no end, that it turned such menial tasks in challenges. Lately, a couple times Frieza had to help her with getting shoes on. Which really embarrassed her.
But the embarrassment and frustration would quickly melt away. When he would lean in and kiss her swollen belly afterwards. Frieza has been taking her pregnancy in strides right along with her. But even the former tyrant wouldn't admit his nervousness to the upcoming birth. But he learned this was common among first time parents. Though he deeply regrets getting some pregnancy and birth books. Frieza was under the notion that they would help him understand and better prepare for the birth. Instead they terrified him, by showing him what could go wrong during pregnancy and birth.
He even started driving Bulma crazy during the Ultrasound Appointments. Staring hard at the screen and always asking Bulma if that is normal and should that look like that? Yes, the blue haired scientist took to performing a lot of the ultrasounds for Angel. She had the best kind of equipment for it, so it made more sense. She even offered to have Angel have the delivery at her home down in the lab. Bulma assured her, she already had everything down there that would be needed for a safe delivery. And if it made them feel any better, she'd call in a doctor and a couple nurses to assist them.
Angel was grateful for the offer. Mainly because she wasn't sure how a hospital would react to a hybrid baby being delivered. She certainly didn't want anyone of them gawking at her baby. That's when she realized her 'Mama Bear' Mode was starting to show. It's also good that she was surrounded by not one, but several experienced moms that gave her plenty of useful advice and tips. It helped put her mind at ease too. Plus, she wasn't alone in all this either. Frieza was always there by her side.
In the coming months, he had been training and sparring with Goku...and eventually; Vegeta. The training of course didn't always go smoothly. Usually it lead to Goku intervening and acting as referee. This happened when things got out of hand between the former emperor and the saiyan prince. Both were very stubborn and hot headed. So when they clashed, mayhem tend to break loose. And that's why they eventually decided to move training to Lord Beerus's World.
Though Frieza wasn't a hundred percent ok with it. He didn't like leaving Angel alone for long periods of time. Feeling he already missed so much time with her while she was away in her own universe. Plus, being away from her when he was doing last minute things in space. At least Whis was gracious enough to fly him back. So he spent much shorter intervals on Lord Beerus's World than the saiyans. Where they would be gone months at a time. Frieza would only be gone for a couple weeks at the most.
As Angel's pregnancy progressed, his training became more and more limited. By her eighth month of pregnancy, he stopped all together. She was very close now and he wanted to be there to help her when the time came. Plus, he didn't want to miss out on their child's birth. Especially since he learned that babies sometimes have a tendency to come as early as eight months instead of nine. His kind gestated around the same time as humans, around eight and a half to nine months.
These months also brought along both good and not so good times. Like for instance, he would get amusement from her odd food cravings and sometimes poke fun at her for them. But the up and down mood swings were a whole different story all together. Angel's moods were like the weather. She'd go from balling her eyes out over something to smiling a few minutes later like nothing ever happened. Luckily, Frieza was a good sport about it and knew this was all to be expected as far as Human/Kandusai Pregnancies were concerned. He was there to give her comfort whenever she needed it and Angel was thankful for it.
Frieza entered the living room in time to see her struggling to push herself to a stand up position. He tried to contain his smirk as he strolled over to help her. He then leaned over the back of the couch and into her line of vision.
"Need some help?" He teased.
Angel rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Nope, I can get up just fine. Thank you very much."
Using the couch for leverage, she pushed herself up and forward with her arms. Angel managed to pull it off and was able to stand. But she put a little too much 'Oomph' into it and lost her balance and went forward. Frieza quickly caught her about the waist so she wouldn't go crashing belly first into the coffee table. Something he argued with her about moving away from the couch for quite sometime. Because of incidences like this one just now. But Angel would just wave him off and tell him he's being a little too overprotective and paranoid. But what happened right now, just proved he had every right to be.
She looked up at him. Just in time for him to smirk down at her and say, 'Your Welcome.' Angel didn't say anything, just sighed and mumbled a 'thank you'. She then leaned her head against his shoulder. And he kept his arms around her.
"Don't fret, Love. It won't be long now." He said, while rubbing her swollen belly tenderly.
"Not soon enough. I feel so lopsided from all this extra weight. I'm not use to being so big. It's throwing me off balance a lot. And I'm always worried I'll fall because of that." Angel said, voicing her concerns.
Though these concerns were nothing new to him. He's heard them plenty of times before over the months. Even more so now that she's much bigger and in her final stage of pregnancy.
"I won't let you fall. You have nothing to worry about. You want to go sit out back?" He asked, changing topics.
She nodded, and they walked out. Well, Frieza walked to the back door. While Angel more like waddled like a penguin. Something else he found rather funny. But wouldn't dare mention that out loud to her. Finn followed them out to their very 'spacious' backyard. Which consist of a small clearing, surrounded by trees. There was a two seater swing out there that Angel likes to frequently occupy. When he usually came back from training, Frieza would find her out back here on the swing, reading a book.
This is when reading lessons came into play. And Angel taught Frieza how to read English words, sentences, phrases, etc... Something he took to rather fast once he nailed the alphabet and sounding out words. He was rather impressed with the extensive book collection that line the bookcase. So it was great when he was finally able to read from them. Though Angel sometimes jokes and tells him that teaching him may have been a big mistake. This came shortly after he started reading the pregnancy and birth books.
Finn started darting about the area as the couple sat down on the comfortable swing. They chatted for a bit before Angel started feeling fidgety again and wanted to get up and walk. Something that has been happening to her a lot lately. When the dog came over with a tennis ball, that was good enough excuse to get up and move her legs again. Frieza stayed behind on the swing. Because last time he followed her, she reamed him out for it and told him to give her space and that she was not a fragile piece of glass.
Angel was tossing the ball around for about eight minutes. As she threw it for the umpteenth time. She felt what could only be described as a water balloon bursting inside her lower abdomen. Then she felt fluids dribble down her legs from her entrance. She put a hand to her abdomen, as a little more fluids came out onto the grass below. She was wearing a knee length sundress so it was easy to see the liquid dripping out of her. Apparently Frieza noticed it too, and was by her side in a split second.
"Angel?" He asked in concern.
She turned to him with a knowing look and nodded. This was all the confirmation he needed. They retreated back inside the house. He had her sit on the couch as the first contraction hit. Angel told him that she can go grab her bag of stuff. But winced when another one came. He shook his head and told her to stay and that he will retrieve it from their closet.
As Frieza hurried into their bedroom, Angel grabbed her phone off the end table and called Bulma. The phone rang a few times before she picked up.
"Bulma, it's time. My water just broke." She informed her.
The older woman asked her if she wanted her to come pick her up. But Angel told her that Frieza was here and that he will be taking her. Bulma told her that she will go and get everything ready in the lab and call the doctor. Lastly, she told Angel to count how far apart her contractions were by using the clock. Afterwards, she hung up just as Frieza was coming back with the 'To Go' Bag. It's funny, here she thought she packed it too soon. Only to find out, she timed it perfectly.
The last call she made was to Goku and ChiChi's Home. When ChiChi picked up, Angel told her what was happening and ask if her or Goku can swing by and pick up Finn and bring him over to Bulma's.
"If Goku is the one bringing him. Tell him to take his car and not to fly with Finn please." Angel told her.
ChiChi said, she'd make sure Goku took the car and that she will send him by soon. Angel thanked her and hung up. Frieza asked if she were ready to go. She said, 'Yes'. Angel kissed the top of Finn's head and told him to be good. Then once they went through the front door, Frieza scooped her up and they were off. At cruising speeds, it was about a nine to ten minute flight. Being anxious, Frieza thought maybe he should go a little faster. He wanted to make sure she received medical attention as soon as possible.
He picked up speed, but not too much. They ended up getting there in six minutes instead. Bulma was waiting on the balcony for their arrival when they landed. To their surprise, she wasn't alone. Lord Beerus and Whis were there too. Though they were at one of the tables pigging out on some food. Of course, they did pause and gave the couple a look of acknowledgement. Whis gave a brief wave in greeting. While Lord Beerus gave a nod.
"How are you feeling, Hun?" Bulma asked.
"Ok, the contractions seem quite sporadic though." Angel said.
She then tried to get down. But Frieza continued to hold onto her. Angel gave him a look and informed him that she can still walk. He reluctantly put her down, but kept an arm around her waist. They then followed Bulma inside. From there, she lead them down to the lab. There was a bed in the corner with the proper machines hooked up to it. Frieza helped her onto the bed and helped her get comfortable. He then shrugged the bag from his shoulder and put it on a nearby chair.
Bulma got to work. She first lifted up her dress and pulled the covers up to her hips. Then hooked Angel up to the ultrasound monitor to check on the baby. Afterwards, she hooked her up to an I.V. followed by a finger clamp to monitor her heartbeat. The blue haired scientist started moving the scope around on Angel's belly. After a few moments, a concerned look formed on the older woman's face. A look that wasn't missed by the couple.
"Bulma is something wrong?" Angel asked nervously.
She looked back at her. "It looks like the baby is in a breach position. But don't worry, that just means when the doctor comes he may have to turn them around. Sometimes, the baby just ends up turning around themselves. There is still plenty of time for that to happen between now and delivery."
Even though Bulma tried reassuring the already nervous couple. They still were very concerned for their baby's safety. Sometimes things can go wrong during a breach birth if the baby doesn't end up turning around. Frieza grasped her hand and ran his thumb over her knuckles to comfort her and put her mind at ease. But on the inside, he was just as worried and scared as Angel. But he wouldn't show her that he too was nervous, because then it wouldn't help how she feels.
They propped Angel up with pillows and did things to keep her distracted or occupied. They gave her water and turned on the t.v. An hour later, the doctor along with a couple nurses finally came. They did a full assessment on her and the doctor was informed of concerns of a breach birth. He told them they will monitor both mother and child very closely for the duration of the labor.
Angel did feel a little better when Trunks and Goten made their way over. They told and reenacted stories that made her laugh. She laughed even more when the boys started fussing back and forth on which of them get's to hold the baby first. Even Frieza was beginning to find the youngsters antics rather amusing. Angel cheered up even more, when she noticed Goku finally brought Finn over.
The orange clad saiyan asked her how she was. Angel told him she was fine. But jokingly said, she would feel much better once they gave her the epidural. Of course, Goku blinked in confusion as it is to what she meant. Because the saiyan warrior hadn't a clue what an epidural was. She cracked up when he asked her if it was some type of fancy food and if so, how would it help her. Frieza just ran a hand over his face and muttered, 'Moron' under his breath at Goku's ignorance.
It was about four hours into the labor before things took a turn. And sadly, not for the best. The monitor that was monitoring the baby's heartbeat began to beep repeatedly very loudly. It made Angel jump and look around. The doctor came over to see what was going on. He moved the wand around on her belly to see what was happening. A grim look appeared on his face. He then confirmed the couples worst fears.
"We will have to perform an emergency C-Section stat. The baby is not only still in breach position, but the cord is wrapped around it's neck." The doctor said.
"No!" Angel cried out in distress.
Frieza was getting really shaky now and scared for their baby's life.
"Please, just save it!" He said, in a panic.
Bulma had a hand over her mouth. But then something came to mind, and she quickly bolted from the room. In the meantime, the baby's heartbeat was getting very erratic, and starting to slow down. At the same time, Angel is really starting to freak out. At this point, they were scared that the doctor wouldn't be able to move fast enough in performing the C-Section.
Not a couple minutes later, Bulma burst back into the lab with Whis in tow. She quickly dragged him over to Angel's bedside. The doctor and nurses told him he needed to leave. But Bulma told them he was here to help. The tall, blue man leaned over and eyed Angel's belly in concentration. Clearly, the little one was in danger and they needed to work fast. With a flick of his staff, there was a bright flash. Angel suddenly felt nothing. Which greatly confused and worried her. Until she looked up and saw something forming midair.
A shroud took form, and with another flash became solid. It turned out to be something wrapped up in a blanket. It slowly lowered into Angel's arms. She looked down with a gasp as some stray tears rolled down her cheeks. Frieza also was looking on in amazement. In her arms was a tiny infant. And not just any infant, but theirs. They crinkled their eyes before opening them. Crimson colored eyes stared back at the couple. Which was followed by a soft cooing sound. Angel let a sob escape her as she leaned in to kiss the baby's forehead. Frieza turned to look at Whis.
"Thank you." He said, with heartfelt gratitude.
Whis smiled. "No problem, your baby is no longer in immediate danger. They will be fine now."
Frieza turned his attention back to his child. He smiled as Angel interacted with them. The baby looked mostly human. But they had Frieza's eyes, and the infant's hair was strangely the same off white/gray pallor as his skin. He placed a hand on their head and brushed some of the wisps of hair back. Bulma came over with a smile.
"Congratulations Guys! Their beautiful. Speaking of, is it a boy or a girl?"
Angel and Frieza looked to each other. Then Angel turned back to the child and unraveled the blanket. The baby was a girl. They wrapped her back up afterwards, so she wouldn't get cold.
"We have a daughter." Frieza proudly informed the others in the room.
Everyone congratulated them. Though you can here Trunks and Goten groaning in the background. Apparently, they wanted another boy to play with. Though they quickly changed their tune when they finally got to see her. They thought she was cute. And the baby seemed to pay more attention to Goten. Angel chuckled at this.
"I think she like's you, Goten." Angel said, with a hint of laughter in her voice.
Goten didn't say anything. Just awkwardly rubbed the back of his head and blushed.
"Uh yeah, she's cute." He uttered.
Frieza's eye twitched. His protective fatherly instincts were beginning to kick in. He can only hope his little girl won't end up with the likes of a saiyan. Angel turned her attention back to Frieza and lightly nudged his arm to get his attention.
"Hey Daddy, you want to hold her?" Angel asked.
His eyes widened slightly as he swallowed. But nevertheless, held out his arms. Angel gently placed the tiny baby in his waiting arms. He pulled her to his chest and gently rocked her.
"Hello, My Love." He said softly.
The baby looked up at him and gave him a brief smile. He caressed her soft little cheek. And she reached out and wrapped her tiny hand around one of his fingers. Frieza smiled and leaned in to kiss her forehead.
"So what are you guys going to name her?" Goten asked.
Angel smiled. "Lily. Her name is Lily."
They thought it fit her well. Everyone else seemed to like the name choice too. As the evening dragged on, more and more people came to see the new baby. Even Vegeta at one point showed up to have a look. Which probably wasn't such a great idea. Since the first thing out of his mouth was an insult.
"She couldn't have come from you, Frieza. That baby is quite cute. Whereas, your downright hideous." The saiyan prince teased.
If Angel and Lily weren't here. The former tyrant would've shoved his fist down Vegeta's throat. But he remained calm and collected for their sake. Bulma was not all that amused and told Vegeta to; 'Shut Up and leave if he's going to be like that.' He did end up leaving shortly after. Thankfully, that was the only hiccup of that evening. Even Lord Beerus came down to see the couple's new baby.
A perfect ending to the evening compared to the horrors of the beginning. Both parents were eternally grateful for Whis's Intervention. Without it, this evening could've easily ended in tragedy and heartbreak. Their little girl was happy and healthy.
Quite the harrowing chapter this was. But it all worked out well in the end. And Baby Lily was saved, thanks to Whis. I am sad to say, this story is coming to an end though. Probably one or two more chapters left after this. Until Next Time ;)
