Toshinori Yagi was a very simple man. He liked to watch movies and enjoyed helping people. He was rich but didn't show it, and he secretly had a love for old superhero comics.
Yes, he's in his 40s, don't judge him.
He had seen his fair share of surprises. The surprise he found at the fact he was still alive after his battle with his arch-nemesis, All For One, and the surprise that his family may still be alive, even after all these years. Well, the latter might not be true, but the point still stands!
He had woken up bright and early to head out to Dagobah Beach and relax, it was his day off from hero-work anyways, so he could manage it.
He had nearly jumped out of his shoes at what he saw. "Holy Fuck!" He exclaimed in English.
The same green-haired boy who he had trained for a little less than a year, the same green-haired who he had entrusted his quirk onto.
Was throwing off Smashes and creating gusts of wind like it was absolutely no big deal.
He couldn't even begin to fathom, let alone comprehend on how his successor was using One For All already, at one hundred percent. The sight was ridiculous.
'What the hell has he been doing since I've been gone?' The blonde with sunken eyes wondered. It was a mystery as to how he could even use it the quirk at one hundred percent, but with no consequences?
He approached the greenette while making sure to use his buff Might form to hold his ground from the wind pressure being tossed around everywhere. By some miracle he had come close enough so the forest green teenager could hear him.
"Young Midoriya!"
The boy known as Izuku Midoriya stopped throwing out Smashes and looked at his mentor. "All Might? What are you doing here?"
The middle-aged man wanted to chuckle at that but he was to shell shocked to even indulge in a grin. "I could ask you the same thing, how are you-"
Izuku waved his hand and summoned One For All. "Using One For A- I mean your quirk?!" He caught himself.
He nodded. "That's not the only thing I'm curious about, but yeah."
He cleared his throat. "I've thought about the suggestion you made for "feeling" One For All, and I came up with my own one, I had an Ephinay Yesterday." He scratched his head. "And it was thanks to-"
"It was something stupid, yet effective, wasn't it?"
Izuku actually dared to stifle a laugh at the comedic tone of his question. "U-Uhm, yeah! How did you know?"
The pro hero scratched his head. "I just had a feeling." 'And it's also because you're such a damn fanboy.' He comically thought in his head.
Izuku chuckled sheepishly. "You're right. It was about a commercial about you having an action figure. It mentioned you reinforcing your body with your quirk, so I thought a sensation like that, and merged your sensation with it."
Toshinori was impressed that his successor managed to figure out something that would normally be impossible for a pro to deduce, even he had no clue on how to have him control the quirk passed down onto him, and it was previously his quirk.
"Uhm, that's impressive Young Midoriya, once again you've exceeded my expectations as my successor, clearly I couldn't have found a more perfect candidate, but there's a problem."
Izuku tensed up as he thought he got something wrong. 'Did I disappoint All Might?! Or is he talking about the way I use his quirk? I'm sure I'm using it to its max potential!'
"Relax kid!" All Might called out to him. "Stop that muttering, it's creepy, none of the things you said are even close to the truth, far from it. I'm anything but disappointed in you. This isn't even what I was referring to."
He sighed. "I'm referring to the Entrance Exams, seriously kid, it's about seven in the morning so we better get moving, I suggest you shower and eat some breakfast. The exam is in a few hours."
The revelation was enough to make Izuku widen his eyes as big as saucers. "Crap! I have to get moving! See you later All Might!" He dashed away so fast that a passerby might think he had some sort of low-level speed quirk.
All Might sighed. "Teenagers these days." He chuckled. "This kid is full of wonders; I can already tell you'll pass."
Izuku was currently on a mission to not miss the Entrance Exams but god damn it, the universe was sure hellbent on making sure that didn't happen.
Firstly, the run back to his apartment and house took him a while, thanks to the fact that there was a villain attack. 'Of course, villains.' The greenette once thought.
Then his train got delayed on his way to the station and he had to wait nearly two hours for another one to come in. There was that fantastic hero luck he always praised!
Thankfully, the universe decided it had to fuck with other people's days as Izuku was giving the mercy of at least getting to the premises of U.A, albeit by a hair.
He stared on in amazement as he gazed upon at the high-school. The same high-school All Might went to when he was becoming a hero. Even some of the Top Ten heroes weren't an exception.
Now? It was the next generation's duty to apply here and become heroes. But for Izuku, he had come here to prove to the world he wasn't the same useless Deku he had been before, far from it. He was here to prove to the world that he COULD become the hero All Might told him he could be.
"I got this!" He yelled.
And then he tripped on a stone.
"Or I'll just die." He exclaimed as his face was nearing its journey onto the hard pavement.
Suddenly, he felt a force grab him right before he fell. A feminine voice called out to him. "Hey, you okay there? You nearly fell and hit your face."
He turned upwards and found himself with a blonde-haired girl. It took him a few seconds to realize a girl was talking to him. His cheeks burned with a blood red color to the point he could feel the heat coming off from them.
"I-I, U-Uhm." He stumbled on his first words, not sure what to say to her. As you can tell, he wasn't that good in the girl's department.
"Not much of a talker are you, hmm? Let me introduce myself, I'm Melissa Shield, what's yours's?"
Izuku didn't know how he had managed to speak, but he spoke nonetheless. "I-I'm, M-Midoriya I-Izuku."
The girl nodded. "I'm applying for the Support Course, what about you?"
Once again, he somehow found the words to speak. "I-I'm applying for the Hero course."
The girl brightened her expression with a smile. "Okay, nice meeting you Midoriya-san, good luck on your Entrance Exams!" And with that, she left him to his thoughts.
Well after the girl left and most of the exam takers going in. Izuku came to terms with the fact he had managed to converse in a daily conversation with a girl for once in his life. She was pretty too! So that's a win.
His heart raced as he remembered how bright and cheerful her smile was. Just looking at it made him want to forget all the worries that ever plagued his day.
Unfortunately, that just couldn't happen. He was here for a reason today, and that reason was to prove he was worthy of the chance to become a hero he dreamed of.
'Many Heroes have walked these premises, and soon- I'll be one of them!'
He smiled in acceptance of the journey he had to walk. It wouldn't be an easy path, but he realized that since he was four. 'This is my journey to become the world's GREATEST hero!'
And so, he took a step and into the halls of U.A, to the examination site. The step forever cementing itself as the first step into his journey of becoming a hero.
He had just finished filling out his application for the course he applied to and made his way to where they were instructing the Hero course examinees.
And of course, fate had to screw him over and place him next to his childhood bully, Katsuki Bakugou.
He roared in fury. "What the hell are you doing here you damn nerd?!" Izuku pretended he never even heard the blonde. Katsuki didn't really want to spend precious time chastising the nerd so he let him off easy. He thought he wouldn't even pass the exam anyway.
When the time had come to take their written exam, they passed through it with ease. Both candidates have studied endlessly for this, not just in the physical department, but academically. It'd be a shame if they passed the Entrance Exam but failed the written portion.
But Suddenly, the stage lit up catching all the examinee's attention. A hero walked onto the stage. "Hello examines! Welcome to U.A's Entrance Exams, can I get a "Hell Yeah?"
The crowd was silent, you could imagine hearing the sound of crickets due to the lack of noise around the auditorium.
The hero looked disappointed. "Tough crowd, geez, but whatever. Anyways, I'm the hero Present Mic and I'm here to instruct you on the rules and functions of the exam. Let's move onto the workings of the exam"
"The goal of the exam here is to take out robots and gather points to pass. There are three different types of robots to take out." The screen flashed to show three select bots of various sizes and volumes.
"There is the one Pointers, which are self-explanatory, and then the two and three-pointers. Each of which has varying difficulty. It is your job to take out as many robots as possible and hopefully pass the exam, any questions?" The pro held out his ear.
A tall blue-haired boy a couple of seats above Izuku raised his hand. "Yes, I have a few questions. You said there are only three robots for this exam, no? Then why does it say that there are four on the pamphlets you gave us?"
The pro chuckled. "Good observation little listener, I assure you there's a reason for that. The fourth robot is sort of the final boss of the exam. The Execution Bot!" He declared loudly. "I wouldn't recommend fighting it. This thing is specifically designed to withstand a plethora of forces, and only exists to deter you from your goal."
The blue-haired boy seemed satisfied and nodded. "Thank you for your insight." The boy sat down.
The hero flashed him a huge smile. "No problem, little listener!" The screen changed again. "Now, other than the robots of the exam, we'll have testing sites. Testing sites A, B, and C, are present here. You'll be assigned to one of them depending on the card you're given.
Izuku looked down at his card and saw he was on Testing site A. 'Alright, I can work with that.'
His composure was interrupted as he heard loud ineligible cursing coming from the person next to him. "Dekkkuuu!"
Izuku sweatdropped. 'Damn my luck, he must be in the same battle arena as me, which means we'll be directly competing for points.'
Deciding to ignore all the curses thrown at him, Izuku focused his attention on the battle arena's they were instructed to head through. Like it or not, he'd just have to deal with Katsuki being present in his arena, after all, it was a hero's job to overcome any hardship thrown at them.
He had made it to the end of the hallway and into a room which ended with two big gates, to which he assumed were the gates to the Entrance Exams testing site.
The speaker system turned on. "Make sure you get as many points as possible and obey the rules! Ready?! GO!"
The gates opened which confused the crowd. "What, do you expect hero fights to have a countdown?! Go, go, go!" And soon, all of the examines came rushing out of the gates and into the fake city U.A built for them.
Izuku was still frozen in front of the gates while all of his test takers were already out in the city. He soon realized his mistake. 'Shit! I have to get points.' He dashed out with a burst of One For All and leapt into the city, quicker than a bullet.
Hopefully, fate would be merciful enough to let him pass this one, hopefully.
Authors notes: And that concludes chapter 2 of Hero A! I've hoped you've enjoyed this chapter. This one was easier to write then chapter 1, but still faced some hardships. I'll see if I can make the chapter update schedule consistent enough for everyone to be pleased. I have some stuff planned that is different from in canon, so stay tuned. Anyway, thank you for reading! Goodbye.
