Ch 61 Trial Pt 3
James was sitting on the witness stand; he looks at Astraea walking towards him. "Mr. Potter, I take it that you are aware of your sister-in-law and her husband's actions towards your son?" the Goddess of Justice asked.
"I've known that she hated me when we first met. Vernon Dursley too hated me when we went out for the first time, I have no idea that this would happen to him." James said truthfully.
Astraea nodded. "Do you regret leaving Harry Potter with your sister-in-law?" she asked.
James looked down in shame. "Yes, I was too blinded by Dumbledore's words. He ensures that Harry was safe with them."
The Ruler walks back to the Defense table picking up a folder. "I present Exhibit B to the court." She said handing over the folder to Lorelei and to everyone to see.
"Mr. Potter, were you aware that at the age of sixteen Harry Potter left his Aunt and Uncle's home and move to Fuyuki Japan changing his name to the one he uses today?"
"No I haven't," James responded.
Astraea looked at the Potter head. "You haven't? Didn't you ask Albus Dumbledore if your son is alright?" she asked.
"Y-Yes, multiple times. He said that he has someone living nearby the Dursleys to keep an eye on him." James said. "Dumbledore said that person says that…"
"You may say his given name to the court," Astraea informs him.
"Harry was doing fine. Making friends, going to mug- mundane school, all of the stuff boys do." James said.
"Thank you," The Ruler said looking at Goldolf. "Your Witness."
Goldolf stood up making his way to James. "Mr. Potter you said that Albus Dumbledore told you that Harry Potter is fine. Didn't you as a parent have any doubts?" he asked.
"Yes, however, Dumbledore told both me and my wife to place Charles our top priority," James said truthfully.
"So you don't care for your other son then," Goldolf said.
"Objection! Badgering the witness!" Astraea announced.
"Sustain, Mr. Musik I ask you to refrain from adding unethical comments," Lorelei said.
"Apologies, your honor." Goldolf inclines his head.
"Mr. Potter, what do you think of your son before the trial and the raid?" Goldolf asked.
James looks at Astraea who just watches him. "Answer the question, Mr. Potter," Gawain said.
James sighs, "When he first arrived, I was unsure what to think of him. I was feeling joy, regret, and something I didn't think I had for him."
"And what's that?" Goldolf asked.
"Resentment," James said truthfully. He looks at Ritsuka who just looks at him with no emotions on his face.
Goldolf nodded. "And why do you feel that way, Mr. Potter?"
"I don't know when I first saw my son after the years when sent him away. I have a sudden urge to resent everything about him." James said.
"Mr. Potter, what lead to resenting your son?" Goldolf asked.
"I do not know. The feeling just came to me." James answered.
"Mr. Potter, were you aware that the Potters family are originally a Magus family?" Goldolf asked.
"No, I haven't," James said truthfully. "I have no knowledge of that information."
Goldolf smiles. "No further questions."
Lorelei looks at James. "You may step down Mr. Potter." James walks down from the stand back to the Defense table.
Goldolf stood up and walking to the center. "The Potters were task along with some others from Botany to infiltrate and relay any information of the Ministry of Magic to the Mage's Association. Charles Potter fulfills his duty as a Magus, however, his son failed to do so." He said.
"This lead act leads the family abandoning Lord Fujimaru with abusive relatives even though it was unintentional they still acted in doing so. They're caught up with their other son that they failed to be proper parents for Lord Fujimaru." Goldolf added.
"People of the courtroom we are Magus, task to protect the mundane from Mysteries. The Potter disregards the safety of the mundanes by joining a vigilante group on their own volition taking matters in their own hands." Goldolf look around the room, "I asked you people of the court do you want a Mage family going out in public risking the lives around him or her?"
Goldolf walks back to the Prosecutor's table as Astraea took the center. "People of this courtroom, we all witness some form of manipulation in our life. Whether be it in the Association or this Ministry where we stand. My point is wherever there's a manipulator there's a victim and I see two right here sitting at the Defense table."
"These two are manipulated by their former Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. The one that guided them during their years as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the one who gave them advice whenever they need of it." The Goddess said.
"They're not to blame. They're just pawns for Albus Dumbledore's plans to stop a terrorist that threatens the world as we know it."
"They join the Order of the Phoenix by his request. During meetings that Dumbledore had with the other members, these two have doubts but was told not to worry about it by a simple phrase. 'It's for the Greater Good.'" Astraea said.
"Personally, I have no idea what this Greater Good is, but to my clients, it's a phrase they can't refuse. Even it was used when Dumbledore used it to send Ritsuka Fujimaru away in favor of his twin brother Charles Potter."
"I asked the courtroom today, who is to blame in this? Albus Dumbledore? or the Potters? I leave the decision to your hands." Astraea sit back down at the Defense table
Lucius went on the stand. "The court will take a thirty-minute break before the verdict."
Everyone left the courtroom James and Lily were in the halls with Astraea talking about the court's verdict. "You two did great in there, you didn't hesitate on telling the truth."
"So what now?" Lily asked the Ruler.
"Now, we wait for the verdict. I have full confidence the court will rule on our favor after I said my closing statement." Astraea said.
James and Lily nodded at their lawyer's words. James looked away to see Ritsuka and his Servants talking a girl that looks like an angel. "Ritsuka," James walks over to him calling out his name.
"James wait!" Lily rushes to her husband's side.
Ritsuka sees his parents walking towards him. "Master, shall I stop them?" Lancelot asked.
"I want to hear what they have to say," Ritsuka said.
"Ritsuka, we've been meaning to speak with you," James said.
"Go on," Ritsuka said to his father.
James took in a deep breath. "W-We would like to say we're sorry for abandoning you with your aunt."
"And we're sorry for ignoring you and treating you like a burden instead of our son," Lily added. "We should of welcoming you back all these years instead of pushing you away."
"Son, we see the errors of our ways. I hope you forgive us." James apologizes to his son.
"Master?" Gareth looks over to her master.
"Your apology was thought out, and I appreciate it, "Ritsuka said. James and Lily have their hopes up that he'll forgive them. "However the damage was already done, I have no intention in forgiving you two even if your apologies are sincere."
James and Lily knew this would happen. "W-We understand, Ritsuka," Lily said.
"You better get back to Ruler, your verdict is about to be announced," Ritsuka said turning around heading back to his seat.
"Ritsuka," James called out.
Ritsuka turns around to his father. "Yes?"
"I-I-"
"James, they're calling everyone back," Astraea said.
James looks back at his lawyer and nods. He looks back at his son. "I will tell you later."
Ritsuka nods returning to his seat in the courtroom.
James looks down as he walks back to the courtroom. "We told him what we wanted to say. We knew that he won't forgive us that easily." Lily said to James.
"I know, it's just…hard that he won't forgive us right away," James said feeling a teardrop falling.
Lily nodded. "I know, I feel the same way too." She said tearing up.
Everyone returns to the courtroom for the verdict on the trial. "Has the courtroom reach a decision?" Lorelei asked the room.
Amelia stood up from her chair. "We have your honor."
"What's the verdict?" Lorelei said.
"On the charges of trespassing on government property, we find the defendants guilty," Amelia said.
James and Lily sighs, "On the charges of vigilantism we find the defendants Not guilty,"
"Any reason?" Lorelei asked.
"Being cohorts by another," Amelia said.
James and Lily look at their lawyer shaking her hand thanking her service. "If you want someone to thank it's your son." The Ruler said
"Very well, Ms. Adshino take the Potters in holding cells until sentencing," Lorelei said.
Hishiri walks up to the Potters and took them away.
"We will have lunch and resume in an hour and thirty minutes with the case The Order of the Phoenix vs the People," Lucius said.
James and Lily exited the courtroom where Sirius and Remus stood there waiting for them. "James…Lily…" Sirius said staring at them.
"Sirius, Remus, I-I'm sorry," James said to his friends. "I'm sorry that we put you in a situation that force you two to choose sides."
Remus walks up to James. "James, I know you mean well when protecting the ones you care about. After all that happened, I hope both you and Lily learned not to be tricked by others' gain." The werewolf asked.
"We know now, if we were given the chance then we would help Ritsuka," Lily said with remorse in her words. "I just hope that our sentencing wouldn't rob us from that chance."
Sirius chuckles. "You sound like you not going to see the light of day for a long time. Don't worry Charlie spoke to Ritsuka about it and-"
"We know, we're just preparing ourselves," James said. "You know how courtrooms sometimes change their minds at the last minute."
Sirius nodded. "True that, by the way, have you heard what's going to happen Charles and his friends?"
James looks at Lily who also didn't know. "We have no clue what's going to happen to him," he said.
"The children are underage so their sentencing will be less than an adult," Hishiri informs them.
"What do you mean?" Lily asked the Magus of Policies.
Hishiri smiles. " It means that those children will have a different punishment then you two." She said.
"I see, will it be a prison?" Remus asked.
"That I have no clue, you just need to wait until sentencing." The Magus said. "Now let's go you two." She said.
"We'll see you later, Sirius, Remus," James said, Hishiri guided them back to their cell.
"What do you think Charles's punishment is, Sirius?" Remus asked.
"We just have to wait," Sirius said.
Dumbledore sat in one of the Ministry's holding cells guarded by inquisitors of the Holy Church. Never in his life that he would be in this predicament but here he was sitting on the hard mattress that Fudge didn't bother to replace when he was the minister.
Shouting outside his cell door causes the old wizard to jump. "LET GO OF ME THIS INSTANT!" the voice came from none other than Molly Weasley. Then another voice caught his attention.
"What are you going to do with us? We only try to restore order in the community." Arthur said frighten of what's happening.
A figure appeared outside his cell. Dumbledore stood up and walks to him. "What's going on? Where are you taking them?" he demanded.
"They're going to be in trial for their crimes against the government, Albus." Dumbledore was surprised to hear his voice.
"Kingsley, what are you doing here?" Dumbledore said surprised to see him after not reporting his whereabouts for a while. "I thought they have killed you and Nymphadora?"
Kingsley sighs. "Tonks is currently in recovery after director Barthomeloi integrated her. She suffers a major head trauma that leads her into a comma." He said. "I have recently been informed that she'll make a full recovery in two weeks or so."
"Kingsley, why did you join them? can't you see they disrupted the natural order by enforcing their laws against us?" Dumbledore said. "They place Nymohadora in a coma, they have to be stopped before any more damage will be done."
"You know Albus, I look up to you when I was a child. Now look at you, you ruined this government by manipulating people in favor of your personal interest." Kingsley said seeing through his manipulation.
"But I digress, I'm here to tell you that you have the option for a lawyer to represent you. Molly, Moody, and Arthur refuse one to represent them," he said.
"You have the option or forever hold your peace."
Dumbledore instantly answered. "I shall represent them on their behalf including me."
"That's your choice," Kingsley opens the cell door and placed the specialized handcuffs on him.
Dumbledore was guided out to the courtroom. While he was being escorted, he devises a plan to use in court.
After an hour of lunch, the court resumes the trial. Lucius got on the stand. "Thank you for your patients, we'll be resuming with the vigilante group known as the Order of the Phoenix vs the people."
Kingsley and the Aurors that joined the Mage's Association brought in the remaining Order members. Lucius looks over to the Order of the Phoenix, "You all agree to let Mr. Dumbledore represent you all as your lawyer, correct?" The Animusphere head said.
"Yes, we have full-"
"No need to be filled with confidence Mrs. Weasley, we're ready to proceed director." Lucius looks at Lorelei.
Lorelei looks at Goldolf standing up heading to the center.
Dumbledore looks around the room still handcuffed to see all the Lords of Wizengamot were replaced by Mages, Inquisitors, a few wizards, and squibs. He then noticed Harry sitting amongst them with his bodyguards around him.
"Albus Dumbledore, you're the leader of the vigilante group known as the Order of the Phoenix?" Goldolf asked.
"We're not a vigilante group we're-"
"ORDER! Mr. Dumbledore, please refrain your client from speaking out of term until she is questioned." Gawain said.
"This is a violation of our-mmpf!" An Auror places a gag around her mouth to prevent her from babbling.
"Thank you," Lorelei said to the Auror. "If there are any more interruptions then I will have that person guilty without a trial." She warns them. "Are we clear?" staring at Dumbledore.
"Y-Yes, your honor." Dumbledore gritted his teeth.
Lorelei nodded. "You may proceed, Mr. Musik."
Goldolf nodded turning to Dumbledore. "Mr. Dumbledore are you the leader of the vigilante group known as the Order of the Phoenix?" he asked again.
"Yes, however-"
"No need for your explanation," Goldolf said. "Now Mr. Dumbledore, did your group made contact with the terrorist Voldemort and his lackeys?"
The Order stiffens at the name of the Dark Lord. Goldolf sighs, "It's just a name, nothing to be scared of." He said.
Dumbledore gritted his teeth at the statement. "The Dark Lord has proven that he-"
"A simple yes or no question, Mr. Dumbledore," Goldolf said getting annoyed by his words.
"But he-"
Goldolf swiftly turns to Lorelei and the other judges. "Permission to treat the defendant as hostile your honor?"
"Permission granted," Gawain said.
Goldolf got into Dumbledore's face. "Answer the question Mr. Dumbledore, did your group made contact with the terrorist Voldemort and his lackeys?"
Dumbledore felt the pressure from Goldolf as he was getting impatient with this. "Y-Yes,"
"Good, now do you have a plan when bystanders are involved? Yes or no," Goldolf asked still in his face.
"N-No," Dumbledore spat out.
"Do you ever consider public safety during your so call mission?" Goldolf asked.
"N-No, we just hope for the best." Dumbledore spat out. His eyes widen that he told them the truth.
Goldolf steps back from his face. "No further questions." Goldolf walks back to the Prosecutor table.
Dumbledore took a moment to breathe before walking to the center. "T-The Defense would like to call Alastor Moody to the stand." He said.
Moody sat on the chair as Dumbledore walks to him. "Mr. Moody, can you tell me what the Order of the Phoenix does?"
"We put a stop to the Dark Lord's plans," Moody said.
Dumbledore nodded. "And what's the Dark Lord capable of?"
"Many things, such as murdering, manipulation like this court-"
"Objection, your honor!"
"Sustain, Mr. Moody please refrain from giving extra details," Lorelei said.
"Why? It's true, this courtroom is probably under the Dark Lord's influence!" Moody stated.
"Your honor this witness is mentally unstable to testify," Goldolf said.
"I'm not insane, muggle!" Moody shouts.
"ORDER!' Gawain said.
"Agree, the witness may step down," Lorelei said looking at Dumbledore. "Mr. Dumbledore, I do hope you have a reliable witness for your case if not this won't go in your favor."
"Y-Yes your honor." Dumbledore didn't like where this is going. Back then Fudge would take Moody's testimony without question.
"The Defense would like to call Molly Weasley-"
"Molly Weasley has shown that she is too, unstable like Mr. Moody to testify on the stand," Goldolf claims.
Molly muffled trying to speak her mind to the room. "Agree, Mr. Dumbledore chose your next witness. Remember to choose wisely on who you going to call."
Dumbledore looks at Arthur and smirks. "The Defense would like to call Arthur Weasley to the stand."
"Very well," Lorelei said.
Arthur sat in the witness chair waiting for the questions. Dumbledore walks up to Arthur. "Mr. Weasley, can you explain why the Order of the Phoenix is created?"
"Yes, to protect the muggle community," Arthur said truthfully.
"Thank you, no further questions." Dumbledore has full confidence that Arthur's words would resonate with the court.
Goldolf walks over to Arthur. "Mr. Weasley, what was your reaction when Mr. Dumbledore said that he is doing a raid on Chaldea?"
"Uh, shocked. When the Headmaster said that I was completely stunned that he'll go that far." Arthur said truthfully.
"Were you aware that Chaldea is an UN-funded facility?" Goldolf asked.
"Y-Yes, our spy in the Dark Lord's inner circle had interrogated Lucius Malfoy for information of Chaldea," Arthur said influenced by the truth spell.
"And who is your spy?" Goldolf asked.
"S-Severus Snape." Arthur spat looking at Molly as her eyes were telling him 'you better shut up or else!'.
"Severus Snape, he's the potions master and professor correct?" Goldolf asked.
"Yes, he is."
"And why is he chosen to be the spy in Voldemort's inner circle?" Goldolf continued.
"H-He was a Death Eater before he joins us." Arthur looks down.
"So he still a terrorist," Goldolf asked. "So if he is a terrorist then how come you did not report it to the Ministry?"
"The Headmaster said that it was fine," Arthur said.
Goldolf nodded. "No further questions, a witness may step down." he walks back to the Prosecutor table.
"I will be next to the stand," Dumbledore said to the judges.
"Granted," Lorelei said,
Dumbledore was prepared for this. He mentally prepared for any questions that he might throw at him. He was sitting in the chair ready for the questions. "Mr. Dumbledore, what led you on to create the Order of the Phoenix?" Goldolf asked.
"Why it's simple, to protect the community from Voldemort's influence," Dumbledore responded.
Goldolf blinks at him. "If it's to protect the community how come you left damages after your confrontation with the Death Eaters?"
"Well, every war has casualties-"
"War, Mr. Dumbledore? You see we don't see any wars taking place. I have my fair share of that with my time with Lord Fujimaru." Goldolf walks to grab a folder from his desk. "I present exhibit A," he handed the evidence to Lorelei.
She reads the evidence that Goldolf gave her. "People of the courtroom right here are pictures of this so-called war that Mr. Dumbledore says that we're in."
The courtroom saw vandalism with painted-on words such as mudbloods, muggle wrenches, and bane of the purebloods. "This is not an act of war; this is an act of vandalism. I also present exhibit B." Goldolf handed another folder to her.
Pictures of bombings, stores run by muggle-born were destroyed, and Death Eaters arraigned by mundane officials after a failed attempt to bomb Buckingham Palace. "Now to me this looks like a terrorist attack, won't you agree Mr. Dumbledore?"
Dumbledore has no idea these were taken. "W-Well, every war is different. These photos are describing a-"
"Terrorist movement right?" Goldolf asked.
"No, it the Dark Lord's-"
"Use the name, I have excused your failed witness due to their unstable mindset Mr. Dumbledore," Goldolf said.
Dumbledore looks at the judges. "Can he say that?"
"Sustain, I will allow it in this case," Lorelei said.
Dumbledore looked back at Goldolf with a smile. "Thank you, your honor."
Goldolf looks at Dumbledore. "Mr. Dumbledore, have you been in a war?"
"Yes, against Gellert Grindelwald." He said.
"Ah yes, the true Dark Lord. Gellert Grindelwald was one person that the Mage's Association and the Holy Church feared back then. Tell me Mr. Dumbledore is there any differences between Voldemort and Gellert Grindelwald?"
"I-I don't see any differences between the two," Dumbledore stated. "They're both dangerous wizards."
"That's where you are wrong, Mr. Dumbledore. Gellert Grindelwald was able to stat a revolution both in the Americas and Europe with just his words." Goldolf said. "Another thing about him that he is talented in witchcraft that he created some experiments that are at the level of the Mages of the Botany Department at the Association. If he didn't go rouge he might be offered a Lord position."
Many of the Mages in the courtroom agrees while the inquisitors remain silent.
"How could you say that? He uses dark magic to gain-"
"That's right, he uses dark magic in your standards. However, we see it as Magecraft using wildly." Goldolf said.
Dumbledore gritted his teeth that these Mages don't care if they're using dark arts. They being oblivious to what the consequences using this forbidden act will do.
"Now for Voldemort, he's a child crying for attention and you are giving it to him," Goldolf said walking to the table one more time. "There are statements from Severus Snape." He said.
"W-What?" Dumbledore said surprised that Severus would give statements to him.
"I made a plea deal with him. If he tells me all he knows about Voldemort, then he'll be on probation from teaching and cannot leave the country. If any of that happens then he'll be ship to the Association's prison." Goldolf said. "This is true for Igor KarKarolf but he did not cooperate leading him in a cell for the remainder of his life."
"The statements say, 'Dumbledore kept all information of Voldemort to himself not disclosing to any of the Order. To keep the information safe, he trusted me with all of it as a backup file...'" Goldolf went on telling how he uses the order and Voldemort's plans until he reaches the final part.
"This is an interesting statement from Mr. Snape, (ahem) 'Dumbledore wanted me to keep this from everyone else seeing this is important. Upon my investigation of Voldemort, I found out that he is half muggle and half wizard.'" He finished looking at Dumbledore whose face was pale as a ghost.
"Any comments Mr. Dumbledore?" Goldolf asked the old man.
Dumbledore remained silent shocked that Severus would betray him and the others. "I…I…I have no comment," Dumbledore said admitting defeat.
Goldolf place down the file before asking Dumbledore one more question. "Mr. Dumbledore, why did you convince the Potters to abandon Lord Fujimaru to his aunt?" he turns around to see him.
"W-What do you mean?" Dumbledore asked.
"Don't play dumb Mr. Dumbledore, you know what I mean," Goldolf said.
"I-I-I-"Dumbledore tries to resist telling Goldolf the truth but the spell placed in the room compels him. "I have to, he's in the way of the prophecy that would bring the end of the Dark Lord. If he stays in the picture then my plans will go to waste!" he spat out.
"And what are the plans you came up with?" Goldolf asked.
"T-To runs the ministry and uses the boy to gain popular ratings," Dumbledore said gasping after he struggles to tell the truth.
"I see, then you are aware of the prophecy of Lord Fujimaru then when his representatives first came to the school," Goldolf said.
"Yes," Dumbledore said.
"No further questions," Goldolf said.
After a thirty-minute break, they all came back inside the courtroom as they did before. "Has the people made their verdict?" Lorelei asked.
Amelia stands up. "Yes, your honor,"
"What say you?"
"On the charges of vigilantism we find the defendants guilty," Amelia said. Molly and Moody look like they're going to have a fit if they're not bounded by Hishiri's wrappings.
"On the charges of public safety, we find the defendants guilty," Amelia said.
"For Alastor Mad-Eye Moody for trespassing on government property, we find the defendant guilty," Amelia said.
"For Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore on the charges of manipulation of the government and the people, trespassing on government property we find the defendant guilty." Amelia finishes.
"Thank you for your service. We'll meet for sentencing." Lorelei looks at Hishiri. "Ms. Adshino, if you would."
"Yes your honor," Hishiri said taking them into custody with the help of Kingsley.
Ritsuka and his Servants were outside of the courtroom ready to enter to hear the sentencing. "I still can't believe that old man is getting it," Mordred exclaims.
"Saber, I know that you are excited for what they deserve but please try not to shout in the courtroom," Bedivere said.
"Ah, lighten up Bedi! Justice is being served to the ones that hurt master." Mordred smirks in her helmet.
"Yes, it brings me a bit of joy to see their punishment," Tristan said with a small smile.
"Archer," Lancelot sighs at his statement.
"So when are we going in? I mean it's been almost an hour." Gareth said.
"Lancer I know you're impatient but try to wait just a bit more. They still need to come up with the impropriate punishment for them." Gawain said to his little sister.
"Yes, I heard that Magus is in with them as we speak. I believe I saw Zelretch in the corner of the room, but I can't tell from where I'm sitting." Agravain said. "Master do you have something to do with their punishment?"
"I just lend them, Merlin. Mentor did say he wants to teach them a lesson." Ritsuka said.
"Whatever it is I hope it's a just one," Galahad said. "You can never predict what he is planning."
"Agree, even with Merlin those two are a bad mix for us but good for them," Arthur added.
Soon Sirius and Remus are escorting Ritsuka's parents except for Charles. "Uncle Sirius? Uncle Remus? What is it?"
"Ritsuka, James, and Lily wanted to say something to you before sentencing," Remus said.
James steps forward. "Ritsuka, I want to thank you for what you did for us. I know you still resent us for what we did, and we understand."
"We know that you appreciate the apology but didn't forgive us. We just want to say we're sorry again." Lily picks up.
"James, Lily I-"
"DADDY!" They all whip their heads to a little girl in a black cloak. Her face was frantic from whatever it was to make her that way.
"DADDY!?" The wizards froze at the name that she gave to Ritsuka.
"Jackie? What are you doing here?" Ritsuka walks over to the Assassin Servant.
"It's Ms. Mashu, we've been sent to tell you that she's in labor," Jack said.
"WHAT! I thought she's due at the end of next month?" Ritsuka exclaims.
"Ms. Berserker made a miscalculation on the due date. She, Ms. Narcissa, and the others are with her right now!" The Assassin exclaims grabbing his arm. "Come on daddy, Ms. Mashu needs you!"
"R-Right, uh can you guys-"
"Go, we'll oversee the sentencing," Arthur said to his master. "Go to Mashu."
"Master, can I accompany you?" Lancelot asked.
"Me as well," Galahad added.
"Yes, let's hurry," Ritsuka said heading back to the Outpost.
