When the Fenton parents got home, they immediately became concerned when a tearful Jazz came running into the living room telling them they need to come to the beach.

"Jazz. Where's Danny?" The look she gave them only worried them more.

"He's...it's..." She had to stop every few seconds to take a breath. "It finished."

"What do you mean it finished? What finished?" Now Maddie was just about full-blown panic; Jack not far behind. In response, Jazz just gave them a withering look.

"He's on the beach. With Sam and Tucker." That's all that needed to be said before both Fenton parents rushed down to the beach as fast as their human legs could carry them.

_LINE BREAK_

The night was peaceful, waves crashing onto the shore creating soothing ambience. Tucker was sitting close, there to offer more support should it be needed. With one look from Sam, he scooted behind the long black and white tail that belonged to his friend.

Speaking gently, "Danny, Tucker's gonna check your tail, alright? It's going to feel weird, and you may not like it, but we have to make sure everything formed right." Not trusting his voice at the moment, Danny just gave a subtle nod into Sam's shoulder.

Awkwardly clearing his throat, Tucker said, "Ok. Um, try to move it for me, will ya?" Danny really didn't want to, but he supposed they did have a point. Clenching his eyes shut, he focused on the limb that was now a vital part of his body and ordered it to move. It didn't do more than make a miniscule movement, but that was enough for Tucker. Nodding to himself, he moved on.

"Ok, I'm going to run my hands around and test some stuff. It may feel weird, but I'll be gentle." After receiving a nod, he put his hands on the edge of the stark white fluke; Danny flinching at the new sensation. Pausing only for a second, he continued to feel around, seemingly pleased. "Well, on the bright side, this style of fins are meant for speed and agility. You're going to be very fast."

Danny appreciated the attempt, but it didn't do much to improve his mood.

Sending a withering look to Sam, he continued with his examination. Moving his hands to different points, each time asking, "Do you feel this?" Each one answered with a sharp nod. It was obvious this was making their friend uncomfortable, but they had to keep going. They were just finishing up when twin cries broke the relative silence.

"DANNY!" Running towards them at high speeds were his parents, both of which looked incredibly distressed. Only pausing for a second at the sight of his tail, they ran forward and grabbed their son in a giant hug, his tail laying limp in the sand.

"Mom? Dad?"

"IT'S OK, DANNY-BOI. ITS OK." Despite his words, however, tears were streaming down both of the parents' faces. Maddie, noticing their audience, turned her attention to the awkwardly watching mers, never relinquishing her hold on her child.

"Sam and Tucker, I presume?"

Tucker was the one that answered. "Yes, Ma'am. My name's Tucker, this is Sam." Nodding to the boy, Maddie turned her attention to her daughter who was standing behind her.

"Why didn't you call us?"

"I tried, but Dad's phone went straight to voicemail."

"Jack!"

Looking sheepish, Jack decided, smartly, to remain quiet.

"Mom?" looking down to the boy in her arms, Maddies expression immediately softened.

"Yes, sweetie?"

"m'tired."

"I know. We'll figure something out."

"Um... ?" Turning her attention back to the two mers, she acknowledge the boy who suddenly looked sheepish.

"Yes?"

"If you want, we can take him." Her hard look hardened more. "I mean, if you don't have anywhere else to put him..." He trailed off uncertainly.

Putting his giant hand on his wife's shoulder, "MADDIE, ITS TIME. WE CAN'T LOCK HIM UP FOREVER, AND NOW'S AS GOOD AS EVER."

Nodding to herself, "Can I trust you to bring him back in the morning?"

"Yes, ma'am."

Looking down as her son uncertainly, who looked back at her with bright green eyes that seemed to glow, she slowly handed him over to the outstretched hands of Sam.

"Take good care of him tonight."

Deciding they were not dragging him through the water, Sam took charge. "Danny." Looking up to meet her eyes, Danny was hardly awake at this point. "We don't expect you to know how, but we're going to swim and we need you awake for this, ok?" Nodding his head, he allowed his father, who, after a look and a nod from Sam, picked him up and placed him in deeper water. Dragging themselves to their friend, they each grabbed hold of an arm and pulled him under with them, sending one last look to the beach, seeing the Fenton family standing there watching with tears in their eyes.
