Sleeping with Stefan had been rare throughout Damon's entire life, but now that he was an unconscious, fragile little thing, probably aged around 9 or 10, it suddenly seemed like the most natural thing in the world to bring Stefan along to Damon's bedroom, so he could keep an eye on him.

They laid side my side and the sleepiness took over Damon's body. He faded into a deep sleep, praying that this would all be solved.

When Stefan woke up, first thing he did was looking at Damon. He looked different. And the room looked different. Last time he saw Damon, he had dark curly hair and was walking around in white shirts and his room had been white and full of light colors. Now Damon had middle parted hair and was wearing dark colors. His room was 80 percent dark wood and the bed was bigger than it used to be. But it was Damon after all, wasn't it?

Stefan pushed himself up from the bed and walked downstairs. The entire house was different and Stefan realized that it wasn't even the house that he used to live in. Yet he looked around for anything that could tell him where he was.

"Stefan?" Damon called and walked down the stairs. He looked at his younger brother.

"What are you doing up? It's 11 a.m. and we haven't been sleeping for long."

Stefan looked at him.

"Where am I? And why do you look so different? Where's Father?"

Damon sighed, wishing that Stefan would just go to sleep instead of asking so many questions, but he wasn't going to. Damon knew that. Stefan needed answers. So Damon told him to sit in the living room and wait for him, and then he made both of them a cup of hot chocolate.

"We're currently in year 2012. Both of us turned into vampires in 1864. You were seventeen. However for some reason you're now a child again, and I have no idea if you're a human or vampire." Damon quickly summed up. Stefan looked confused.

"But you said vampires where only myths?"

"Sometimes myths turn out to be true. The thing is nothing is the way it used to be. The work is much more modern now and you have to learn how to blend quickly. This is our secret. No one can know that you're my de-aged brother. The cover story is that you are my son. I made a girl pregnant when I was very young, you were born and given up for adoption. I just recently got you back. If anyone asks, that's what you tell them. Got it?"

Stefan nodded a little but his lips were trembling and Damon saw that he was beginning to get upset. He tried to not soften.

"Where's Mezzanotte?" Stefan asked in a low tone.

"Your horse? Stefan, it's 2012! They're gone! They're dead! They're all dead!"

Stefan choked out a sob and Damon's heart broke.

"Stefan..."

Stefan shook his head and ran upstairs. Damon sighed and texted Elena, Caroline, Jeremy, Tyler, Matt and Alaric, telling them all to come over. They arrived one after one and were all soon lined up in the living room. Then Damon started talking.

"The thing is that I don't want to lie to you guys, but something happened to Stefan. Someone had put a spell on him and he is younger now. He doesn't remember anything that has happened since he was like ten or something..."

Everyone started mumbling confusedly.

"The sheriff knows. Her and I came up with a cover story, which you guys will now know... Stefan will now be known as my son, whom I gave up for adoption when I was very young."

"But you're gonna fix this right? You're gonna make him grow again and we can still be a part of his life." Caroline said.

"I think it's easier said than done Caroline. I don't know if breaking the spell will put my brother in danger. For now none of you will be involved in his life, unless I ask you to."

"Are you kidding me?" Elena said taking a step forward. "He was my boyfriend. You can't just kick us out of his life!"

"I'm sorry, Elena." Damon said. "But this is the end."

Tears welled up in Elena's eyes and her hand flew across Damon's face, slapping him hard. Then she turned around and walked out the door. Everyone left except for Alaric. He looked at Damon.

"How are you gonna do this?" He asked. And Damon shrugged.

"When we were human I had maid's to help me doing stuff like this. This time is different. And he's different."

Alaric nodded and told Damon to call if he could help with anything. Then he left too. Damon went to his room, seeing Stefan on the bed. He sat on the edge of it.

"You know I didn't mean to yell at you, right?" Damon said, earning no answer.

"The last few days has been very stressful. Hopefully it will get better from now on. We just have to figure this out together."
