Alessia slowly fell to her knees, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Everything around her became a blur as her eyes filled with tears. Her throat started to burn and a knot twisted in her stomach. She rolled Kaius onto his back, his lifeless, dark green eyes stared into the void. The realization of his death finally registered in her mind. Everyone that had once filled the room made their way back to their stations.
Kylo's heart broke at the sight of her beginning to sob into her dead brother's chest. His thoughts raced as he tried to figure out if he should comfort her or begin destroying all the living beings who had just participated.
Alessia began wailing and rocking her brother back and forth in her lap.
"I'm s-so sorry, Kai.. its all my f-fault..."
The Commander clenched his fist. He needed to be there for her right now.
After ten minutes, one of the doors to the room slid open as three nurses marched in with a stretcher to place the deceased man on. Kylo was unsure if he should kill them out of rage or allow them to do their job. He glared at one of the nurses preparing to pick up Kaius's feet. He could feel the nurse tremble in fear. Kylo kept his eyes on her until he heard Alessia begging them not to move her brother's body, then quickly diverted his attention to the young woman.
"P-please dont... no, you can't take him from me...please he is all I have!" Alessia begged, holding on tightly to his lifeless body.
The same nurse frightened by Kylo Ren began to speak.
"Excuse me, Commander Ren.." She whispered, causing him to look back up to her.
He knew what needed to be done. He slowly pulled Alessia closer to him and enveloped her cold hands into his.
"Alessia, let them take your brother. He is gone.. They will put him to peace." Kylo whispered into her ear. Although he knew it wouldn't be a proper burial, he wouldn't dare tell Alessia that. It would only break her more.
The young woman began to sob even harder but knew she had to let go. She watched as the nurses lifted her older brother and took him out of the room. She became nauseous as his large hand dangled from the side of the stretcher.
Not long after they were left alone, she slowly melted into Kylo, letting whatever amount of tears she had left fall freely. She felt empty. Alone. The only thing she had left, her only family member was taken from her. All because she couldn't do something expected of her.
Kylo let her express her feelings until her tears dried and were replaced with unimaginable, painful noises that escaped her dry mouth.
"My love..."
Alessia squeezed her eyes shut and bit her lip.
"My love, we need to leave now." Kylo spoke gently.
Alessia only bit her lip harder until a metallic taste hit her tastebuds.
He waited to see if she would willingly get up to leave but ultimately knew he would have to carry her out.
Slowly, he stood up from where he had been sitting and adjusted himself before picking her up.
He carried her all the way to his chambers in silence.
