Since the fall out between Carla and Peter had happened, they were struggling to communicate with each other. it didn't feel like them, not knowing what to say or do about both their issues individually and as well as a couple. The endless bickering felt as though it was going on forever and that it would never end. Deep down they both didn't know if they could come through this fighting for their relationship like they would've done in the past. Ever since Peter had found out that Carla cheated on him after he had fallen off the wagon and taunted her about her past struggles. The trust hadn't been there completely, he wanted to forgive her and put it in the back of his mind for good because he knew that he had done much worse in the past. The strain in their relationship was mentally tiring, the continuous paranoia from Peter's side of things, he didn't want to be so paranoid, but he couldn't help but think there was more to what she was telling him. He loved Carla with all his heart, he would do anything for her, he couldn't bare about the thought of losing her for the last time. After visiting her in the factory earlier in the day and the advice from Leanne that his relationship with Carla is worth fighting for and that he shouldn't just give up on the relationship because they have so much history and they have been through too much together to just end everything for good. He realised how much he had to lose, so he decided that he wanted to show her how much he fondly loves and cares about her. He knew that him and Carla were made for each other, every time they were with someone else it wasn't the same kind of love. No matter what history they both had, they would always fall back into the arms of each other. It was everlasting love that would never end, their love for one another was like a force of nature. Little did Carla know that a surprise was heading her way and things were soon to change in a very big way for them both...
He walks into the backroom; Carla was just sat gazing into nowhere, clearly in a mind of her own. "hey" he gently speaks whilst smiling at her, forgetting about the last few weeks for a moment. "oh hey." she replies, it was clear to Peter that she was feeling the strain in their relationship and it was clear to him how sad she was without barely speaking a word. He asks, "I think we need to have a chat, don't we?" she takes a breath to prepare for the worse and the one thing she was dreading; an end to their relationship for the last time. "look I know a lot has happened the last few weeks, well months if you think about it and it's a lot to get through with the lack of communication lately which just doesn't feel like us at all." he mumbles on about all sorts due to the nerves in him for what he was about to do. "Anyways, what I'm trying to say to you is that our relationship is worth fighting for, we have been through an awful lot together over the last ten years to just not get back on track and things to end for good for us." Carla's facial expression dropped completely when he mentioned the thought of them being over for good. She didn't want to lose him and nor did he. "There will never be anyone right for us other than ourselves, I love you so much. more than anything in the world... I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you were the best thing that ever happened to me and nothing in this entire world matters to me but you." She smiles at him with pure love, tears building up in her mysterious hazel green eyes. She responds back, "you're everything to me, you have always picked me up when I have been at my lowest moments in life. You know how to make me smile; you know how to brighten my day with nothing but happiness. And most importantly, I just love how much you care about me, I have never been in a relationship like ours, there is just something about me and you that is just unique and special. The love we have for each other is heartwarming, despite when we go through rough patches as a couple, the love will never end."
She continues whilst tears dropped onto her flawless skin; "and I know I can't go back in time and change the fact that I cheated on you with another man and I'm genuinely sorry about all the pain and paranoia that I have caused you because of me and my stupid self-destruct mode. I can't lose you Peter, not now. Not ever." Trying to reassure her concerns; "Carla, we have both done and said things we both regret deeply and wished we could go back and erase all of the mistakes of ours. Blimey, I sure know that I have made more mistakes than I could count on but the fact is, we simply can't go back in time and remove stuff that we don't want in our minds. I just want to say that I am sorry for being so paranoid ever since I found out about what happened that night. I know it won't be easy but I know, we can get through this Carla, I know that for sure."
Still unsure if he can put it all behind him in the past and think about the future, she asks "but can you really? Forgive me completely for what I did without holding that grudge against me and not being able to fully trust me again, because of what I did to you. Are you certain you can cope by really putting all of that behind you and find that trust with me again. I don't think I could handle it if I were to know I had caused you to fall off the wagon again. I already feel like I have killed you without it even happening. Yet."
He reassures her again; "Carla, love listen to what I'm about to tell you. I will never feel like that, I know it won't be easy to put it all behind us at once but in time, we can get through this. We're indestructible, nothing can break us apart. Nothing. you're an amazing person and such a loveable woman, you will never cause my death, if anyone were to do that it would be myself. "
"I love you so much."
He replies, "I love you too." with both smiling at each other, with tears filled in both of their eyes. He continues to speak; "now I want you to close your eyes for a few seconds, no peaking either."
"well okay then, I won't..." giggling to herself, she had no clue about what he was about to ask her.
"okay, you can open now." She opened her eyes as she was told and couldn't believe her own eyes, she had to pinch herself to check if it was a dream but no, it was indeed real. Peter was down on one knee and was holding a box with a diamond platinum band, a ring that would last a lifetime... The ring that looked familiar to Carla, she felt like she had seen it before. She couldn't believe her luck that was in front of star structed eyes. She smiles at him as she asks; "is that the same one?"
"It is indeed." he smiles reluctantly, he wasn't sure if she would like the grand gesture. He continues, "are you happy then?" he asks her.
"Oh Peter, I'm not happy..." teasing him for a moment, she continues; "I'm delighted!" answering with a huge smile smitten across her face. He sighs out of relief, "oh my, Carla for a moment I thought I'd made the worse decision ever!"
She laughs, "no! It's such a lovely gesture, I'm over the moon that you put so much thought and care into this. I don't deserve you..." "Well, I'm happy that you're happy. Carla, love you must stop saying stuff like that. You do deserve me" little did he know about the true reasons to why she was being so negative about herself... He takes a breath and continues; "and there's no one I would want to spend the rest of life together with, other than with you. It's all about the future now." he smiles directly at her.
Carla responding to him, "Gosh, I do love you, you know that."
He replies, "I do."
"now I have a gift of my own to give you..." as she presents a small engagement ring box with a chocolate shaped love heart inside that says, "Our family is growing by one heart and two hands and feet!... Due June 2021."
Peter responds, "your..." unable to get a word out of his mouth.
She speaks for him, "pregnant?" he nods in response, she continues; "yes I am. So... Are you pleased or what..." she asks him nervously, she wasn't sure how he would react, she was genuinely petrified for history to repeat itself again, with Peter not being able to cope with the pressure, falling off the wagon and losing another baby again which she would certainly blame herself for, if any of those things were to happen again. He responds back to her question, "I am certainly over the moon, indeed. So, two gifts at once ay? What else could we possibly want?" he asks, she just smiles. As she moves closer to Peter, she wraps her arms around his waist. As she starts to kiss him tenderly on his neck, warming his soft skin up, she moves up and whispers ever so softly into his ear "There's a bed upstairs with our names written all over it... Its pining for an evening full of passion and love. A perfect end to an evening for us..." he looks up and smiles at her, knowing what she truly meant. In sync, they tilted their heads towards the stairs, and it was certainly going to be a night full of love, affection and most importantly, passion..."
