The Angry Video Game Nerd's sidekick, the Autistic Video Game Lad was lying on the couch of his Lad Bunker. Due to COVID-19, the Lad had to temporarily move out of the Nerd Room for social distancing, so he took up temporary residence in an alternate location he called the Lad Bunker. Whenever him and the Nerd were recording new episodes for their Angry Video Game Nerds show, they would edit the videos and make them split screened, where the Nerd would appear on one side of the screen in the Nerd Room and the Lad would appear on another side of the screen in the Lad Bunker.
The Lad wasn't happy that he had to temporarily move out of the Nerd Room, because he grew up in there and wanted to play shitty games with the Nerd in the Nerd Room, but the Nerd told the Lad that it was for his own health and well being. The Lad had become slightly depressed from not being in the Nerd Room for so long, and because of this, he had started drinking tons of Rolling Rock and Yuengling and eating tons of food.
The Lad was still lying on the couch of his Lad Bunker with an NES controller in his hands as he was playing Back to the Future II and III. A pizza box was lying in his lap while a bottle of Rolling Rock was standing on the floor beneath him, within reach. A gray cat named Cringer, whom the Lad named after the He-Man character was lying on the floor, minding his own business.
"How much longer is this shitty pandemic going to last...? I want to go back to the Nerd Room..." The Lad groaned morbidly as he continued to play Back to the Future II and III on his NES. Suddenly, the Lad's phone rang, and since the phone was also within reach, the Lad quickly grabbed it and answered it.
"Hello, you've reached the fucking Lad's phone...If you got anything important to say, say it now, because else I'm going to hang up the damn phone..." The Lad muttered.
"Hey, Lad. It's me, the Nerd." The Angry Video Game Nerd replied on the other side of the line.
"Oh, hey, Nerd...How are you holding up back down there in the Nerd Room...?" The Lad asked the Nerd in a rather emotionless tone.
"Rather well, under the circumstances. You sound pretty down, Lad. Is everything alright?" The Nerd asked the Lad.
The Lad groaned. "Not at all, Nerd...I feel like shit...I want to come back to the Nerd Room and play shitty games with you, but unfortunately I can't because of that shitty COVID-19 virus...I'm still locked up here in the Lad Bunker against my own will, playing shitty games by myself, drinking beer and eating everything that could act as an anti-depressant for my brain..." He told the Nerd in his emotionless tone.
The Nerd couldn't help but frown at hearing the Lad's words, even though the Lad couldn't see. "Look, Lad. I know you're feeling like shit because you had to move out of the Nerd Room against your own will because of that damn virus, but there's no reason to let yourself go. This pandemic will eventually blow over, and you will be able to return to the Nerd Room then. For now, you just have to keep faith and live in the Lad Bunker. We've played the worst games of all time together. We've played Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on NES, we've played Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing, we've played Desert Bus, we've played CrazyBus, we've played Hong Kong '97, we've played Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, we've played Life of Black Tiger, we've played all of those shitty games and lived. If you can survive years and years of playing shitty games with me, then you can sure as hell survive living in the Lad Bunker for a while. I know you've got it in you, Lad. Just hang in there, alright?" He told the Lad.
The Lad couldn't help but smile at the Nerd's words, even though the Nerd couldn't see. "Thanks, Nerd. I appreciate the support." He told the Nerd.
The Nerd also smiled at that. "Anytime, Lad. Now keep on playing shitty games in there to keep your spirits high, alright?" He replied back.
"I will, Nerd. I will. Bye." The Lad replied before hanging up the phone and continued to play Back to the Future II and III on NES, but this time with a smile on his face.
