Chapter 195

Sara wasn't even asleep yet when she heard a commotion in the bathroom. She immediately jumped up and found Tegan on her knees, violently vomiting into the toilet.

"Oh crap" mumbled Sara and held Tegan's hair out of her face.

Tegan stopped but was still leaning on the toilet.

"You're okay Tee… you're okay" said Sara and handed Tegan a glass of water.

Tegan rinsed her mouth and groaned holding her head. The heaving started again and went on until nothing was left to come out. It made Sara feel a bit queasy herself.

"Fuck" whispered Tegan. She put her head on her arms and leaned on the toilet.

"Let's get you cleaned up" said Sara.

"Gimme a minute" mumbled Tegan.

She eventually leaned back and blew her nose with some toilet paper. She stood up slowly.

"Sorry 'bout that" she said looking embarrased.

A wave of dizziness suddenly hit and she closed her eyes holding onto the wall. Sara wet a washcloth and wiped Tegan's face for her and offered her some mouthwash.

"Thanks" whispered Tegan and started walking back to the room. She stopped at the bedroom door and hung onto the wall again. "Uhhhgggh" she moaned.

"You okay?" asked Sara carefully.

"Dizzy" mumbled Tegan.

"Yeah it's probably just that you're drunk but lie down, I'll take your BP again" said Sara.

"I'm sorry… I'm fine, go to bed" mumbled Tegan.

"Don't sweat it. Here's a bin for… um… in case" said Sara.

Tegan lay down and put the wet washcloth she brought with her on her forehead.

"Ugggghhhhh… why did I do thaaaaat" she moaned.

"I warned you" said Sara putting the BP cuff around Tegan's arm. She pressed the button.

"Relax Tee" she said. Tegan moaned a bit more.

"Your BP is low. 90 over 55 and your pulse is fast" said Sara.

"Whatever that means… I'm okay, I'm just... drunk" mumbled Tegan.

"Drink some more water" said Sara before checking her pulse ox.

"Hmm? Sats are fine strangely enough" said Sara.

"Can I sleep now?" moaned Tegan with her eyes closed.

"Are you sure you're okay?" said Sara.

"I'm okay… Sar?" said Tegan with her eyes closed.

"Yes Tegan" said Sara.

"On second thoughts… Please… don't go" mumbled Tegan.

Sara was quiet for a few seconds.

"I don't want to be alone… please" said Tegan.

"Okay… no problem, I'll stay with you. Get some rest now" said Sara.

"Thank you Sar… thank you… for… taking care… of me" whispered Tegan before falling asleep.

When Sara got up in the morning she was very tempted to pull open the blinds and cheerfully wake Tegan up but she resisted. She went for a long walk. When she returned Tegan was still not up. She peeped into the room and saw Tegan lying on her back with her arms and legs spread open. She groaned and rolled onto her side.

Sara walked back to the living room when she heard her phone ring.

"Morning" she said.

"Goooood morning my love" said Kate.

"Good morning angel face" said Sara laughing.

"You seem to be in a better mood" said Kate.

"I am, but the day's still young" said Sara.

"I assume Tegan hasn't woken up yet? Hence your chilled vibe?" asked Kate.

"Yup, she's sleeping off the rust it seems" said Sara.

"Make her a greasy breakfast" said Kate.

"More like greasy brunch" said Sara.

"Was she okay the rest of the night?" asked Kate.

"She projectile vomited… a lot… like a crazy lot. She was okay after that. Her BP was a bit low but she passed out immediately" said Sara.

"It's good that she vomited. Hopefully got rid of some of the booze" said Kate.

"Yup. Anyway, this babysitter is kinda fed up" said Sara.

"Sar just give her a bit of leeway this time" said Kate.

"I give her a pinkie and she grabs the hand you know" said Sara.

"I know… hang in there" laughed Kate.

"How's your patient?" asked Sara.

"She's stable, she's doing okay, all things considered" said Kate.

"Great news" said Sara.

"Heading home now" said Kate.

"Give my little angel a massive kiss and hug from me" said Sara.

"I will. Going to Lindsey's later to give the kids their vaccinations and their routine exam" said Kate.

"I better not tell Tegan that or she'll worry… even more than usual" said Sara.

"I miss you already babe" said Kate.

"I miss you too. Brace yourself for when I get back because I'm going pin you to the wall, ravish your face and then I'm going to fuck you silly" said Sara seductively.

"Thank you, that sounds great" said Kate sounding business like.

"Huh? Great? More like exceptionally, amazingly, fucktastic" said Sara.

"Can't wait" said Kate.

"Kate what's up with you?" said Sara, she heard an elevator ding.

"Hang on honey… Good luck in theater Dr Weber. See you tomorrow" said Kate.

"Ohhh, ehem… the boss" said Sara.

"Where were we?" said Kate sounding sexy. "Fucktastic" said Sara.

"Who's fucking who?" said Tegan walking into the living room scratching her belly and yawning.

"Ah dammit" laughed Kate.

"I'll leave you with that thought babe. Speak to you later" said Sara.

"Bye… oh Sara… I really can't wait" said Kate.

"Good morning Tegan" said Sara when she hung up.

"Morning" mumbled Tegan.

"Ugh… coffeeeee" groaned Tegan and squinted when she looked out of the kitchen window. She put her sunglasses on. Sara started laughing when she saw Tegan in her pajamas, hair standing in all directions, wearing sunglasses indoors.

"Whaaat?" said Tegan.

"How are you feeling?" asked Sara.

"Hmm… okay, not so bad" shrugged Tegan pouring herself some coffee.

"Hate to say I told you so" said Sara.

"Yeah, yeah… it's not that bad" said Tegan.

"Yeah right" laughed Sara and put two headache tablets in front of Tegan.

"Why don't you go take a shower after your coffee and I'll make us breakfast" said Sara.

"Thanks… I probably smell like a winery" said Tegan. Sara just smiled.

"I'm super embarrassed right now" said Tegan.

"Don't be" said Sara.

"Hmmmm" mumbled Tegan.

"Tegan… it was nothing I haven't seen before" said Sara.

"Thanks Sar… wish I had one of Kate's after booze IVs now" said Tegan holding her throbbing head.

The girls had a big breakfast where after Tegan disappeared to the river again for a couple of hours. Sara walked up to Tegan where she was sitting with her feet in a stream throwing rocks into the water.

"Tegan, I'm going into town for an hour or two. I'm bored, there's a book store that I want to check out. Do you want to come?" said Sara.

"No thanks" said Tegan fast.

"Okay, will you be alright here alone?" asked Sara.

"Sure no problem. Go, take your time. I'll call you if I need you" said Tegan.

"Put some more sunblock on please" said Sara in mom mode.

"Uh huh" grunted Tegan.

Tegan walked back up to the house and watched the car drive away in the distance. She pulled her phone out and saw 4 missed calls from Lindsey.

She quickly typed a message. "Hey babe, Sorry I missed your calls. I'll call you later. Everything okay? All good this side xxx T".

She dialed another number. "Hi, I was wondering if you could fit me in today? I can be there in the next half hour to 45 minutes… okay thanks" said Tegan and dialed a cab.

She checked her pocket for her inhaler and put her other kind of inhaler and medication in her backpack. She put her O2 concentrator in its bag and over her shoulder.

Tegan hastily scribbled a note and left it on the kitchen counter. "Sara. I've gone to take care of something. I'll be back around 3. Tegan".

She picked up the urn with Jeremy's ashes and held it to her chest with her eyes closed for a few seconds. She took a ziplock bag from the cupboard and carefully emptied about half of the urn's contents into it. She zipped it up and put it in a white envelope. A car honked its horn outside. Tegan walked to the door. She picked up a roll of duct tape on her way out and pulled the door closed.
