Chapter 1: Forgotten Chaos
Let's get right into the story, shall we? This fic is owned by me, myself and I. Hope you like it!
Doug woke up in his college dorm to a sky filled with bright, colored stars. Looking out the window, he had no clue what was going on outside the small building he lived in for school. All he saw was chaos, the ground breaking apart and forming small fissures, sinkholes forming in the campus road. Students and teachers outside were running, screaming and hiding. The sky looked like it was about to swallow the ground whole. Doug watched all of this with a look of pure confusion. His tan hands went cold as an expression of fear crept itself onto his face.
What on Earth is going on outside? Some kind of rave party gone south?
Doug scrambled outside, only to find a fissure right in front of his door, and a swarm of students that had the same expression as he did. He quickly stepped over the hole in the ground before it became larger. Asking the students and professors around him what was happening led to no answer. After steadying himself and calming down a bit, he only had one thought in his mind.
I have to get out of here!
Pushing past students left and right, Doug ran to the campus exit, glancing around at the endless chaos his university was undergoing. Buildings were being snapped in two. Gravity itself felt strangely lighter. Half the kids were saying their prayers, the other half were screaming at the top of their lungs. Some students were falling into the fissures, and not getting out of them. Doug didn't want to know the fate that befell those students. Holding his head down and averting his gaze from the calamities, Doug was getting close to the way out of the campus… until he reached a cliff.
He couldn't see the bottom. Looking forward, all Doug could see was the same dark sky and colored stars he saw the whole time. Under the loud screams the students around him made, Doug tried his best to gather his thoughts, but ultimately failed and fell into panic. He collapsed on the road, right near the edge of the floating island most of his campus had somehow become. He readied a scream, when all of a sudden…
"ENOUGH!"
Everything went silent. The loud, deep voice shocked everyone, as it was almost as noisy as a gunshot. The students went completely still, scared for their lives. The professors looked at the students, and did the same. Doug saw some of his friends frozen in fear. He couldn't blame them for feeling terrified. The silence continued for a few minutes, as Doug slowly regained his breath. He felt strange, a lot lighter than usual. Eventually, a thought appeared into Doug's mind.
"The only escape from this land is to reach one of the stars near you. One of them is directly below you. Humans, abscond quickly, before it's too late!" Wait, what the? I didn't think that thought. Are telepaths real, did I just hear one? What the hell...
Still, Doug understood the message the mysterious telepath sent. It seems most of the students around him did, too. The many students all turned towards the fissures, and several of them looked down into some. All they could see was a bright red light. A few of them dropped down into the holes instantly, and as they fell into the star, they faded from view quickly. The students around Doug began to cry.
"This is insane!"
"We have to jump into that?! Why?! What the hell is going on?!"
"I wanna go home…"
"If I die here, I just wanna say that I love all of my relatives!"
"If this is my end, I hope people everywhere love my paintings after my death!"
More and more terrified students and teachers slipped into the holes that were getting larger and larger. Doug was trapped in the crowd. He didn't know what to do, but only saw one option before him. Before he launched himself into the abyss in front of him, one last thought entered his mind.
My kind won't be as nice as I am. You won't remember any of this, for no one remembers their trips to the Land Between Dimensions.
That was the last thing the voice said before Doug careened into the red star below his campus. As he fell and the star enveloped his sight, Doug began to feel dizzy, and lost consciousness. He wouldn't remember anything that transpired in this land, only his old life as a human… and his new life in the new world.
You're entering a land unfamiliar to you, human. To make sure my world doesn't fall apart, I'll give you the ability to live as a denizen of this world. But, you'll always be a human at heart, Doug… no matter what, though you may look different, your spirit will remain the same. I advise you to seek the capital. They will offer you aid, human. Good luck in my world... the world of Pokémon.
And that's the prologue done! The chapters are probably gonna be a bit on the short side, sorry for that. Please be sure to leave a review, I'm not the best writer on the planet and would love to get better! Thank you for reading, and as always, goodbye!
