Chapter 241
"Sleeeep" said Kate kicking up her seat's footrest after the private jet they were travelling in reached cruising altitude.
"Kate… Thank you so much for coming. It really meant the world to me" said Sara.
"My pleasure babe, I had such a great time. You were right, I did need a break. I'm so fucking proud of you" said Kate.
"How do you always manage to say things that make my heart melt" said Sara and kissed Kate softly.
"Oh my… I feel wide awake suddenly" said Kate sitting up grinning.
Sara laughed. "We bonked like rabbits the last few days. Cool it. Get some rest or you'll fall asleep in an open bowel during surgery" Sara whispered through her giggles.
"If you insist. Maybe we'll have a few minutes to ourselves when we get home" said Kate seductively.
"Yeah right… do you really think Amelia's going to go down for a nap when she sees us?"
"Maybe… I can be persuasive" smiled Kate.
"Get some rest lover" said Sara shaking her head.
Tegan, Sara and Kate were the only passengers on the private plane and there was only one flight attendant taking care of them. She didn't have much to do though because all her passengers weren't interested in food or drinks, only sleep.
Kate was woken up by some turbulence about an hour later. She looked around the cabin. Tegan and Sara were both fast asleep in their luxury reclining seats. Being a doctor meant that Kate didn't drink much. Not that she didn't like to, she was just on call or backup call so often that she hardly ever had the opportunity. This meant that the parties of the last few nights just hit her harder. The bouncing up and down of the plane made her nausea return and she unbuckled herself to get up.
"Dr Morgan, the captain has switched on the seatbelt signs. Please take your seat" said the flight attendant
"I will, I just really need the bathroom… like right now" said Kate looking pale.
"Okay, don't be long please the turbulence is expected to increase"
Tegan was woken up by the airhostess hastily putting her seat in the upright position.
"What the hell" she mumbled. The plane was shaking and every few seconds it dropped like a rock.
"I'm sorry, please secure your seatbelt" she said and moved to Sara.
"What's going on?" said Sara sounding sleepy.
"We're going through a rough patch. Everything's fine, we just need your seat in the upright position.
"Kate? Where's Kate?" said Sara.
"She's in the toilet, she'll be out in a minute"
With that the plane seemed to make a nosedive and oxygen masks fell out of the ceiling.
"Fuck" yelled Tegan and pulled the mask on.
"Kate!" Sara yelled as the plane shook and continued to lose altitude fast.
"Holy shit" Tegan yelled seeing the ground not too far away.
"Kate, get in your seat" Sara yelled, she hadn't secured her own mask yet.
Kate stumbled out of the toilet and was thrashed around and really struggled to keep upright. The airhostess in the meantime had buckled herself in in the back of the plane.
"Please, please… I don't want to die… I have a wife and two kids… please God please" Tegan mumbled with her eyes closed. Her airways were starting to close up fast from the stress. She managed to force her hand away from the seat that she was gripping to pull her inhaler out of her pocket. She took two quick puffs.
Kate was now being flung around even more, glasses were flying through the air.
"All passengers take the brace position immediately" said the pilot over the intercom.
"Kate come on" Sara yelled. Tegan leaned forward and put her arms over her head the way she had seen demonstrated a thousand times.
Kate managed to reach her seat with great difficulty.
"Brace Sara!" Kate yelled as she fumbled to get her seatbelt on.
The plane scraped over something that must have been trees. Then a crash and darkness….
