AN: I wanted to push myself in a completely different direction. I want to do something different than what I'm used to doing. I wanted to do something dramatic, but it's me I'll probably be cheesy. Anyways had this idea to do a Fairy Tail version of my favorite movie. It was originally a book written in the 40s and then later adapted into a movie that same decade. I've decided to do my own version.

Y'all this felt weird to write! But thats why I'm trying to branch out! So bare with me but yeah thats all I got. In all seriousness it's set up after Phantom Lord arc. It's not a AU where it's modern times or in the forties it's going to be in their world. It's going to be LaLu.

Minor changes have been made to this arc, besides Lucy's murder...bare with me! Trying to make it all work!

So on with the story.

The buzzer at the door went off. It was dark in Lucy's apartment the moon was being covered by clouds, and the only light on in the apartment was extinguished. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of heels clicking softly against the hardwood floors. Two voices could be heard whispering in the apartment. One belonged to a man and the other belonged to a woman.

"What should I do?"

"Don't answer the door!"

"Well they must have seen the light!"

More sounds of shoes scuffling against the floor could be heard.

"Here! Put this on! Go and answer the door!" The man said handing the woman a robe to put on. The man was hiding by the bookcase near the front door. The female walked quietly to the front door. Shaking like a leaf. There was a sickening silence that permeated throughout the apartment. Soft clicking of heels could be heard, as a door handle was turned. All of a sudden there was a loud blast of what sounded like a shotgun was heard. The man held back a scream that threatened to rip from his lips by biting down on his hand. He hid by the bookcase as the sound of footsteps was heard. The person knelt down holding the shotgun in hand. The man couldn't see anything that let him know who the person was that shot his companion. The person got up and walked calmly out the door.

The man held his breath for what felt like ages. He ran over to his companion. He checked to see if there was a heartbeat. He gasped when he slipped in something wet. He looked down and covered his mouth with his hands, he realized his hands were also covered in some liquid. The moon broke through the clouds and he realized that he slipped in blood. It covered the walls and the floors. Everything was in blood. His companion had her head blown off from the close range of the gun going off. He cried out to his now lifeless companion and got up holding his head in his hands. He was freaking out momentarily. He looked at the door and then back at the body on the floor. He prayed for God to have mercy on his soul. He washed his hands at the sink as best as he could and threw his jacket on, locking the door behind him. Running into the hot muggy night.

The city that Sunday morning was quiet. Those millions of Magnolian's who, by need or preference, remain in town over a summer weekend had been crushed spiritless by humidity. Over the city hung a fog that clung to the citizens like a second skin. Natsu was walking towards the guild hall that morning. The humidity was sticking to him, he was kinda annoyed by it. Following Fairy Tail's victory against Phantom Lord, Lucy had been spending the last few days in her apartment, lying in bed. She was still trying to recuperate from Gajeel's brutal beating. He grunted Lucy had been visited by a whole bunch of different people now that people from her former life had "found" her again. He missed his best friend though and was ready for her to get back to feeling better so they could go out on missions. He had met one woman, her aunt apparently, and some former maid, and then some former mentor of hers from her time as a heiress and finally her former fiance himself. He was not impressed by any of them..except the maid. She made a really good roast beef...

"Do you think Lucy is there?" Happy asked.

"Not sure little buddy. She may still be really beat from that pounding that Gajeel guy gave her."

"Yeah, and she did have that emotional confrontation with her dad a couple of days ago."

Natsu nodded. He hadn't thought about that but it would make sense. That's when her former fiance came by...Natsu just grunted. He wondered if he should tell Lucy that two of Phantom Lord's S-Class mages that tortured her had recently joined Fairy Tail since the former guild had been disbanded by the Magic Council. They were probably just forced to obey their former guild master's orders, he was told. So Natsu chose to give them a chance. Lucy admitted to him that she was starting to become overwhelmed by all her former "friends" and family contacting her. He was afraid that telling her all of this might stress her out and Mira had told him to not stress out Lucy! So he decided that he would wait but it was probably time for her to find out right? He wanted his best friend to be happy after being forced to stay in her apartment. Besides, it wasn't only her injuries that had forced her to stay in bed. She had also been traumatized and feeling sorry for herself. She had been talking about going away for a bit to relax and decompress but she hadn't made up her mind.

"If she's not there lets go and check on her."

"Aye!"

Natsu got to the guild hall, he looked around. He the progress that had been made, it wasn't much but it was a start. He saw Erza ordering around people and instructing them what to do. Gray was working on hammering the nails on one of the double doors of the guildhall. It really had fallen into ruins during the battle with Phantom Lord, but everyone in Fairy Tail was now helping each other to rebuild it! He smiled at thought, everything would go back to normal soon right? He walked over to where Erza was.

"Hey Erza have you seen Lucy?"

Erza frowned, "no I haven't." She was going to say something but she was cut off.

"So this is what happens when we allow too many weak mages and a spoiled brat into our guild." Laxus sneered.

"Shut up Laxus," said Mirajane. "You weren't even here to help us when Phantom Lord attacked. You have no right to say things like that!" Mira said from a makeshift table.

Laxus sneered at the take-over mage. "You better watch your tone, Mira." The rest of the Fairy Tail guild members started forming a circle around them, their faces looking grim. Natsu shook his head. "I don't have time for this. I'm trying to find Lucy."

"Gray? Have you seen her?"

Gray looked over hearing his name being called. "Have you seen Lucy?"

"No," Gray shook his head frowning.

Natsu frowned. "Well we're going to check on her."

"We'll come along with you." Erza said grabbing Gray by his shoulder. Gray only partially protested.

Laxus shook his head. He was angry and was in partial despair in his own way. The guild he looked up to as a child was now destroyed. He thought this place was unbeatable and now to see it in ruins made him angry. And all because of some broad. He hated how people were making fun of and disrespecting HIS guild. He had silenced more than a few drunks who thought they could run their mouths off to him and his Legion. He sighed sitting down at a makeshift table. He looked out at the river running behind the guild. His mind had spiraled partially, no one understood what he was going through he thought taking a sip of his beer.

When Natsu appeared at Lucy's apartment they felt instantly uneasy. Something was wrong something was very wrong. Natsu climbed through the window. All at once a ton of smells hit him, blood being the most prevalent. While Erza and Gray went through the chimney. What they saw shocked them.

"Oh my God!" Gray cried. He looked around at all the blood. It covered everything!

Happy was in tears holding on to Natsu. Erza was scowling.

Natsu had tears streaming down his face. He saw a body on the floor, the face was unrecognizable. There was too much blood for him to really tell who it was but the body had on Lucy's robe. Erza was was livid. Her sword materialized in her hands. "What is this!?" She screamed, tears running down her eyes. 'NO! This can't be!'

"Natsu! Tell me thats not-"

Natsu shook his head, "I can't tell. There's too much blood and too many scents."

Happy was sobbing, he walked across the floor the blood was dried on the floor he wanted to reach out and grab Lucy's hand. "LUSHY!"

Gray shocked and confused. "Whoever did this, their going to pay." He finally said. Gray was trying to hold back tears. After all of that, after all that happened. She was still taken away from all of them. "This isn't fair! She can't be dead! We just got her back and she's dead!"

Natsu stood there shaking. Something wasn't right here and Fairy Tail was going to get to the bottom of it.
