Sam read and re-read the letter. At her old school, she was, popular. She recieved tons of love letters from boys who just thought she was cute. Sam was used to ignoring love letters. However, this one felt different, this one felt sincere. Sam knew who she wanted it to be from, but there's no way it could be from her? There was no way Luna liked her back.
It was a standard music club practice. Luna seemed to outshine the other three when it came to energy. Sully picked up on this. "You seem awfuly excited today, Luna. Any cool news?"
"Uh." Luna glanced at Sam. "No. Nothing interesting."
"Okay," Sully replied. "By the way, do any of you want to come over to my house afetr school."
Sam caught Sully glancing at Mazzy for a split second. "Um," she answered, "okay."
Luna said, "sorry. I have to prepare a surprise party for my Mom's birthday."
Mazzy added, "and I can't make it. Today's sacrifice day."
Sam was confused. "Sacrifice day?"
Luna and Sully simultaneously replied, "don't ask."
That evening
Sam arrived at Sully's house.
Sully walked outside to greet her. "Hey, Sam!"
"Sully! Hi!"
Sully and Sam began practicing. Eventually, Sam asked, "can I get your advice on something?"
"Sure," Sully replied, "what do you need?"
"Well," Sam explained, "today I recieved an anonymous love letter. I don't know how to figure out who sent it."
Sully asked, "well, who do you think sent it?"
"I have no idea. I know who I want it to have been, but there's no way it's her."
"Her?"
Sam freaked out. "I didn't mean to say that! Please don't tell anyone."
"Relax. You're secret's safe with me," Sully said before pausing. "So who's your crush?"
Sam quietly replied, "Luna."
"Huh?"
Sam restated, louder this time, "Luna."
Sully thought for a bit. "Try telling Luna about the letters. See if she reacts awkwardly."
"Huh, oh, okay. Thanks."
Sully hesitantly added, "I think it's only fair if I tell you this. I actually have a bit of a crush on Mazzy."
"Really?" Sam asked excitedly.
"Yeah, don't tell anyone."
Sam nodded. "Don't tell anyone about my crush either."
"Okay."
Sam and Sully then resumed practice.
