It had been a long day of mindlessly guarding and patrolling, it had been quite boring for Flare the Skywing. The end of his shift was fast approaching, and he was beyond ready for this. The shift felt like forever and he just wanted it to end, he couldn't bear it anymore. It just felt like he was just going blank. Before he knew it his shift had ended and he was on his way to the outpost to catch some sleep. He had heard from an officer that he would be sleeping with another soldier, and that they had to meet at the path that leads to the outpost they were gonna sleep at.
"Eh, won't be that bad, I like sleeping alone, but it won't affect me much to sleep in a room with a guy on the other bed." Flare thought.
He walked to the path and there he was. The guy he was staying with.
"Hey, name's Flare. What's yours?" Flare said.
"Name's- erm, Maple." Maple said sheepishly.
"Nice to meet you. Let's start walking to the outpost, shall we?" Flare replied.
Maple nodded.
After about 15 minutes of walking, Flare and Maple had made it to the outpost where he will be sleeping. He greeted the guards at the entrance and asked them we're they'll be sleeping.
"It's the room at the end of the hall, you can't miss it." The skywing guard said.
"Thanks." Flare said.
Maple and Flare walked to the room and opened the door. To their surprise there was only one bed. Maple got a little flustered and looked away.
"Er, there has to be another bed somewhere. I'll find one."
Maple said nervously. "It's a pretty small room. I don't think you'll have any luck."
Flare responded. "And anyways, I'll be fine, we can just share the bed. Its big enough for the both of us."
"S-sounds good." Maple said.
Flare laid down on to the right side, and Maple laid on the left side. They both just laid there for a minute, till flare felt Maples tail touching his.
"I'm- erm, um, cold." Maple said.
"Well, I'm very warm." Flare said casually.
Flare turned onto his left side, now facing Maples back.
"Why don't you turn to my side? I could help you get warmer." Flare asked.
"Oh- uh, ok." Maple said.
Maple turned over and revealed his ferocious blushing. Flare then wrapped their tails together and started to hug Maple.
"Thank you so much, I'm very warm now." Maple said as he slowly embraced Flare. "
No problem, I really like this." Flare said as he nuzzled Maple.
"Now let's get some sleep, we can't stay up all night." Flare added.
"Sounds good, It's gonna be nice sleeping like this." Maple responded.
"Yes, yes it will." Flare said.
They both closed their eyes and slowly started to drift to sleep.
