A/N:
Hello, to all my lovely readers. I'm back, a little bit late, I know. But here is another installment of but here is another installment of the beloved story Taking His Offer. Enjoy.
Chapter 25: A Change in Scenery
"Why is there a blind fold over my eyes, Klaus?" I asked, quite annoyed with his antics.
It had been a couple days since our talk. Working things out as mature adults had really helped form a new start to our relationship. I had moved from Klaus's room, to a more secluded bedroom. Still close to his, but farther to the north point of the villa. I even had my own private deck.
Klaus and I had given each other a little bit of breathing room. I had spent my last couple of days divulging myself and some much-needed Netflix. Klaus, I assumed, had spent his time and his now clean drawing room. It had been a nice little break, but this morning he had sent a note asking for me to meet him at the villa's front door. I did as he wished, but had been met with a blindfold tied around my eyes. And here we were.
"Sweetheart, don't you trust me?" Klaus asked me, with a sort of giggle his voice.
"I'm sorry. This just seems a little kinky." I admitted my suspicions, and Klaus let out an actual laugh.
"Caroline, I promise you that there is nothing kinky with my intentions. Just a simple surprise." Klaus assured me as my espadrilles hit the pavement of the villa's red brick walkway.
Klaus kept a firm grip on my arm as we continued to walk towards whatever destination he had intended for us. I put my trust in him, hoping I wouldn't fall flat on my ass.
"Here we are, sweetheart." Klaus concluded, before placing an object in my hand. I felt around for a second, before I realized what he had gotten me.
"Are you ready?" Klaus asked me.
"Hell yes I'm ready!" I showed excitedly, and Klaus removed my blindfold.
Sitting in front of me was a sleek Mercedes convertible. The exterior was painted a shimmering silver, the interior upholstered with the black leather seats. I was in heaven.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! You didn't have to do this." I exclaimed, and Klaus shook his head.
"One of the terms of our deal was that you wanted a car. So I followed through with my part of the bargain." Klaus reassured me, and I looked at him and amazement.
"My question is, how could you know what exact car I wanted? I've been dreaming of Mercedes convertible since I was like seven." I asked him curiously.
"I may have looked at something called your Pinterest boards? It was under board called 'My Future Dreams.' So I clicked on it, and it brought me to a whole list of what you wanted. I made a few calls, and had this purchased." Klaus motioned to my new car.
"I don't know if to call you incredible or a snoop." I laughed and Klaus couldn't help but smile.
"Well, sweetheart, are you happy or not?" Klaus asked me.
"I'm happy. Thank you. It means a lot that you would do such extensive research to please me." I complimented him.
"So do you want to take it for a spin or not?" Klaus asked me playfully, and I nodded enthusiastically.
And so we were off.
After a long leisurely drive, including many occasions where Klaus had to teach me how to drive an actual Mercedes, we arrived back at the villa with wide smiles. I was expecting the lovely peace and quiet of the Italian escape, but instead we were greeted with two brand-new faces.
When we open the door to the Villa, we heard two unfamiliar voices coming from the kitchen. Klaus immediately perked up, obviously recognizing at least one of them.
"Stay here, Caroline." Klaus instructed me, and I nodded.
He left me standing in the foyer, confused at the whole situation. I didn't know what was going on, but from Klaus's tensed face, I knew it was trouble. So I waited patiently, and let the drama unfold.
Klaus's POV
"If it isn't my dearest brother Elijah." I looked at my brother in distaste.
"Niklaus. I've come with some news. About your child. Your children to be correct." Elijah informed me, and I gave him a look of surprise.
"What do you mean, my children?" I asked incredulously. Elijah took a deep breath and began.
"I arranged for a witch to look after Haley while I was traveling, and I received some very interesting news while I was aboard the plane. It is come to light, that the young werewolf is not only carrying one child, but two. Twins." Elijah finished, and I could feel the news start to sink in. Twins.
"That means we will dealing with twice the power." I muttered to myself, still in a bit of shock.
"Also, it means twice the danger. We are not only dealing with the hunger of the witches and Marcelus's mangy crew, but now with the danger of Haley suffering a miscarriage. Birthing twins means extreme danger for the mother." Elijah added.
"And that's why I put a protection spell the mother. These children are start of the new generation. Triple hybrids of werewolf, vampire, and witch. We must be cautious. These children's lives are valuable." An unfamiliar voice interrupted our conversation. Entered a young looking witch, with a creamy complexion and spiraling auburn curls.
"Who are you?" I asked, slightly annoyed for being interrupted. It was a quality that I did not appreciate in a creature.
"Let me introduce myself. I am Georgiana Debelle, your children's protector. The spirits sent me a message to guard your children with my life." The woman replied, and I looked at her in surprise.
"A pathetic being like you intends to protect my children. Over my dead body." I snarled, and now it was Elijah's turn to be surprised at me.
"What?" I barked at him roughly.
"Nothing, brother. It's just, for the first time you referred to them as your children. Are you accepting that you are going to be a father?" My brother asked me.
"That would be partially my doing." A familiar feminine voice spoke behind me, and I turned to face the owner.
"Miss Forbes, what a delight to see you again. I take it my brother is treating you well?" Elijah questioned Caroline. She nodded in agreement.
"I made it very clear that if Klaus wanted to be with me, he would have to except the responsibility of being a father. And I think he's doing rather well." Caroline assured Elijah, who smiled.
"You always could work magic on him, Caroline." Elijah respondfed.g
"Can we return to the topic of why we are here, please?" Georgiana once again interrupted.
"Yes. Speak." I snapped.
"The werewolf is being monitored daily. But I strongly recommend that you return to New Orleans. With the word spreads that she is pregnant with twins, all hell will break loose. And she needs your protection." Georgiana expressed. I pondered the idea a moment.
"I cannot simply uplift myself to assist your demands. I am perfectly happy with where I am." I replied, and Caroline gave me a knowing look.
"Klaus, may I have a word with you? Privately?" Caroline asked me, and I willingly obliged.
I followed Caroline out of the kitchen and into the hallway. She had a look of contemplation on her face, and finally when she was ready, she spoke.
"We need to return to New Orleans. For the sake of the children. I could care less about Hayley, but your children are at stake. Klaus, you're the father, and even if you don't like the mother, you need to be there for your children." Caroline informed me, her face stern with opinion. I could tell there was going to be no argument.
"Are you sure?" I asked her, making sure her decision was not without any future resentment.
"I've never been more sure about anything in my life." Caroline confirmed with a nod of her head.
"Okay then. We shall pack our things tonight, and board a flight tomorrow morning. You can stay here if you wish, Caroline. I never meant to drag you into this situation." I told her. But she shook her head stubbornly.
"I promised I would be there to support you. And I don't back out of my promises." She finalized.
"All right." I motioned for her to follow me back into the kitchen.
When we entered back into the room, two awaiting faces greeted us. Elijah had a look of hope on his face, while Georgiana's held a smirk.
"We shall return to New Orleans tomorrow."

So how was that? I know it was a bit of a shocker, but I wanted to take a turn that was a little bit unexpected. So our story will now be taking place in New Orleans.
