Percy
Percy loved how complex Leo had to make the Argo 2. He rolled his eyes as he imagined the fun Leo had had while designing this. He had to go through several rooms just to get to the corridor which he suspected was Leo's way of making a joke. Percy wasn't that close to the guy but he imagined that was something he would do.
He jogged to the mess hall where the seven were going to try and figure out how they were going to sail to Greece. He was worried because neither of their options were very reliable, or safe for that matter. They could choose to sail through the straits, where there was definitely an ambush planned.
Yeah not the best option, he thought dryly.
The other option would be to sail around the entire Peloponnese but that would talk at least twice as long, and they were on a very short time frame
Percy slowed to a stop as he approached the mess hall and ran his hands through his hair wearily as he stepped into the room
There were plates of food on the table but nobody really seemed to be eating at all except for Leo who was eating fonzies, and Piper with some vegetarian dish. Frank was in the corner of the room leaning against the wall, clearly concerned about something. Percy couldn't get over how much he'd changed. He looked more secure in himself, like he believed in his own power more, which was good. Before, Frank was constantly underestimating himself. Percy was glad the guy had some more self esteem. At the head of the table Jason and Leo were discussing possible routes while bent over a map, balanced on a cooler, but Jason was distracted, constantly glancing over at Piper, who was staring intently at her knife Katoptris, her brows knit together in worry. Annabeth and Hazel were talking quietly and they were both smiling, but Annabeth looked troubled. She seemed nervous, her eyes glancing off different things in the room. When her steely gray eyes landed on him her body visibly relaxed.
"Percy" She said in relief beckoning him to her
He strode over and sat down next to her giving her a kiss first.
"Hey Wise girl" He smiled, as her eyes sparkled.
Frank blushed red and cleared his throat, "All right now that we're all here" with a pointed look at Percy, "We really need to figure out our plan"
"We've got two really bad options, but we've gotta pick one anyways so: Ideas. What do we think?"
Jason sighed and said, "Well what if we try going over land, but in the air? I mean, is there a chance Gaea can't reach us if we're above her?"
"It's too risky," Hazel replied. "Who knows how much power she has," she worried. "Also what about the mountain or rock gods"
Just as Hazel said that the screens behind them showed pictures of the Mountain Gods depicted as wrestlers, which was Coach Hedges way of preparing them for the danger, he thought. The Coach was away right now, with Reyna and Nico, but they were still finding his little surprises all over the ship. Like martial arts figurines, Chuck Norris recordings playing randomly, and apparently this now
"Yeah if we try by land, I mean, we're dumber than a pile of rocks" Leo smirked. Piper snorted as she took a bite of her vegetarian plate.
"Well, let's say if we somehow sail in the straits, and somehow make it to Greece, what's our timeframe for that?" Percy asked while trying to balance a water cup on head.
Annabeth swatted him saying "Focus Seaweed brain". He replied defiantly "I am focused! That was a serious question!" Hey!" He exclaimed after Annabeth swiped the cup from his head.
"Well you clearly weren't paying attention" she shot back pushing her chair back as she stood up.. "The straits are basically a horror movie waiting to happen. We go in, we get ambushed, no turning back"
"Well how do we know for sure
He grinned wickedly as she whipped her head back around so her back faced him.
"Uhoh " Leo grinned
"I wouldn't have done that" Piper laughed at Percy
"He's got a creepy grin on his face should we do something?" Frank whispered
"Nope" The rest of the besides Annabeth and Percy said in unison.
Percy grinned as a jet of water from the cooler came up in an arc and fell on Annabeth's head just as she turned around with a stormy expression on her face. In two seconds flat, she was doused from head to toe, and the crew watched comically as her face changed from surprise, to confusion to shock, then settled on anger, as her steely eyes fixated on Percy.
"I. AM. GOING TO KILL YOU PERSEUS JACKSON! AND THEN I WILL BRING YOU BACK, ONLY TO KILL YOU AGAIN"
Percy paled
"Dude, run" Jason advised
"Wise girl," He grinned, " it was a joke, look I can make u dry in a second."
"You are hypocritical, and, and- egotistical! and I hate you Seaweed Brain!
Percy smiled, "No, you love me Wise girl. EVEN when you hate me."
Annabeth's glare softened as she exclaimed, "Will you at least dry me so I don't stand here freezing to death"
Percy grinned, "Of course Wise girl". Percy turned and handed her a towel with a deadpan face.
The rest of the seven burst into laughter watching Annabeth's face turn interesting colors.
"I- you- I can't even- Are you freaking kidding me-?" She shook the towel in his face exasperatedly
"Fine, fine fine, give me your arm." Annabeth looked at him suspiciously.
Percy smirked as he threw the towel to the side, grabbed her hand, and friend her within a second.
"There, was that so hard?" She teased playfully, patting his cheek
Annabeth moved to step away from him, Percy grinned wickedly and grabbed her wrist again and promptly spun her so she landed in his lap encircled by his arms.
"That's better," he said proudly while holding his arms around her waist, and kissing her neck.
Annabeth sputtered as she tried to register what just happened.
"Did that just happen-" She looked at Hazel who was trying to hold it together, and failing, "who said, "Yup and I don't think he's going to let go" She chuckled, looking pointedly at Percy who growled at her words.
"You gotta teach me that move Water Boy" Leo exclaimed from across the table
"Shut up," Percy grumbled into Annabeths hair.
"Ok moving on then…" Jason hid a smile. "I think we all know that sailing around the Peloponnese is a smarter and safer choice. The only problem is, it'll take us a lot longer, and we're already short on time," He said wearily.
He turned to Annabeth, "What do you think"
She sighed. "I think its our best shot," Annabeth admitted. She hopped off Percy's lap, who grumbled reluctantly, and strode to the large map they had pinned up on the wall. She examined the different paths, silently going over every alternative until there were none left.
"We have to go around it". She looked at each of them, as if daring them to argue.
As she turned to look at Percy he was taken aback to realize what she was thinking. Annabeth was scared, and worried.
She didn't know if they'd even make it around, but there was something else in her eyes. A sort of haunted look that knocked the wind right out of him. He ached for her, as her eyes pleaded with him to do something.
"Well, I guess that's that then. Leo uh, can you handle the new course,?" Percy asked
Leo scoffed, "Can I handle the new course" "Please. You doubt my skillz?" He sighed exaggeratedly and waltzed out of the room sassily.
Jason shook his head smirking "Ok lets all reconvene in the morning for our shifts, get some rest now". He walked over to Piper, and she laced her fingers in his smiling, and they walked out the door, calling goodnight behind them. Frank and Hazel both blushed, but they also said goodnight to Percy and Annabeth, who was staring absently into space. Percy walked over to her and rubbed her shoulders sympathetically, and gave her a gentle kiss on the head.
"You ok?"
"I'm worried. Percy... we have no clue what we're gonna find when we start sailing" Annabeth admitted.
"Lets get some rest, ok Wise girl? You look like you need it". She scowled at him, but took his hand and let Percy tug her out of the room
She looked at him tiredly,
"Ok. Ok lets go.
They walked out of the room together, with Annabeth resting her head on Percy's shoulder.
