Chapter 4 – Epilogue

.

Donna awoke as the ceiling in Harvey's bedroom lightened with the coming morning. She felt warm, pleasantly sore, and very, very happy. She listened as his gentle snores vibrated against her neck. Although asleep, Harvey held her back against his front. Donna knew that waking with Harvey's warm naked body spooned against hers would be her favorite way of starting the day.

"Are you awake?" Harvey sleepily asked, clasping her a little tighter around her waist. His hand was over hers and their fingers were entwined.

In response, Donna took Harvey's hand, kissed it, and moved it closer to her heart.

"I guess that answers my question," was Harvey's response. He yawned loudly and temporarily dislodging his hand from hers, stretched. After, he resumed his former position.

"Wow!" Donna said sarcastically. "That wasn't noisy. Tired, sailor?"

"No, just happy my ship finally came in."

Donna turned over to face him after that remark.

"Am I the ship in that scenario?" When he didn't answer she coaxed, "At least tell me, I am a pirate ship full of buried treasure," Donna said, raising her eyebrows and kissing his chin.

Instead of a quick rejoinder he looked at her morning fresh face, stroked back her hair over her ear and said in a serious tone. "You have no idea what a treasure you are."

Donna looked at him softly and then she crawled over into his arms. She lay her arm over his chest as Harvey propped up his pillow a little to support his head. Donna made lazy circles over his nipples and then kissed each one.

"Harvey."

"Donna," he responded in his 'special' voice.

"We can't tell anybody yet."

Harvey frowned at the remark. "Why not?"

"Because Rachel and Mike are getting married in a few weeks and I don't want to take the focus away from them," Donna reasoned.

Harvey smirked again and looked away to where the long blinds covered the window.

"I guess you're right," he sighed.

A little disappointed by her edict, he asked, "When can we tell them?" Harvey asked.

"I like your interest Eager Beaver-"

"It's not my beaver," Harvey responded with smut on his brain.

"Harvey! That's not what I meant!" Donna said rising up and gently slapping his chest. He caught her hand and kissed it. He gave her that smile. He looked so peaceful and not so edgy. She bent down over him and kissed his lips.

"Seriously, though, Harvey, I don't want to deflect any of Rachel and Mike's joy about their coming marriage," Donna said seriously.

"No, I know, but can we at least tell them?" Harvey asked practically begging from the tone of his voice.

"I think they will probably guess," Donna said grinning at him from ear to ear.

Then he sweetly kissed her.

"I don't want to go to work," he complained.

"Well, I think the COO and a name partner should convene in a 'morning meeting'," she said, kissing him again and then trailing a few light kisses and nips behind his ear and down his neck.

"What do you say, partner?" she asked in a deep sultry voice.

"Yes, we have an important, long morning meeting ahead of us," Harvey responded and rolled Donna underneath him as quiet discussions began their 'morning meeting'.

Some weeks later…

Donna and Harvey danced together very slowly. Although Harvey was reeling with the news of Mike and Rachel's departure for Seattle, Harvey did not allow those sad feelings to pervade or eclipse his joy of finally being with Donna. All thoughts of Paula, Scottie, or any of the many faceless women he had been with over the years never gave him a second thought or regret because he finally knew where he was supposed to be.

As for Donna, she laughed back with him and loved him much as she always had. However, this was a special night because they had confessed to those who asked that they were together now. When Rachel saw how happy they were, she hugged Donna and swore that she and Harvey were next to be married.

"I'm not sure that he wants to go that far. Harvey may not want to get married," she reasoned speaking to Rachel before her father came into the small preparation room to give her away.

"That's because he had never been with the right woman before. He knows he is now and that will make him wake up. You'll see," Rachel said hugging Donna.

Then Robert Zane opened his mouth and joked that if Rachel was having second thoughts she need not worry. He could have a helicopter land on the roof of The Plaza Hotel.

As Harvey and Donna danced and held each other close, both had hopes and dreams for their future.
