Appeals Round 1
Everyone sat in the stands waiting for the first of their friends to be called out to try their luck in the first appeals round.
"Alright, our next competitor is Dawn" the announcer said.
Dawn came out onto the stage and bowed to the audience before she turned to the judges and bowed to them. She then grabbed one of the Pokeballs from her belt and tossed it releasing a bunny like Pokemon. It was brown from the waist up, had cream colored puffs of fur on the tips of it ears and around its waist, while its feet were cream colored as well. It also had one ear held straight up with the other one held against its head. It was wearing a pink frilly dress that made it look even cuter than normal.
Momoko held up her Pokedex to scan it "Buneary, the Rabbit Pokemon. Its ears are always rolled up. They can be forcefully extended to shatter even a large boulder. This Pokemon is female. It is a Normal type."
"That's quite the cute Pokemon" Misty said while watching.
"Yeah, Dawn's had her for a long time. Heck she was even in love with Pikachu when Dawn first caught her. I wonder if she has come up with any new combos using her" Ash told the others while watching.
"Buneary use substitute and follow that up with entertainment" Dawn told her Pokemon.
Buneary then appeared to split into two and they both started to dance together.
"Now start alternating between bounce and jump kick" she quickly switched up what she had Buneary doing.
The Buneary's then alternated between one jumping really high into the air, almost touching the ceiling of the arena, and the other one jumping and doing two kicks in the air. One just before the other one passed it on its was up towards the ceiling and another one just before it passed it on the way back down to the ground.
This lasted for about two minutes before the timer ran out on Dawn's appeal round.
The judges conferred and awarded Dawn with a total of 87 out of 100 possible appeal points.
Everyone waited till another of their friends were called to try their chance in the Appeals round.
"The next competitor is Princess" the announcer told everyone.
"Well now we get to see what kind of Pokemon she has" Momoko told the others.
They all nodded in agreement.
Princess walked out onto the stage with a large smile on her face before tossing her Pokeball into the air.
What came out was what looked like a kind of bee. It had for insect wings on its back, black arms that ended in orange colored fingers, a red diamond on its forehead with two thick yellow horns coming off of each side of its head that ended in black blunt ends, a yellow chest, a narrow black waist, and what appeared to be a six-sided honey comb below the waist.
Kaoru used her Pokedex to see what it was "Vespiquen, the Beehive Pokemon. It releases various pheromones to make the grubs in its body do its bidding while fighting foes. Vespiquens are only female. It is a Bug and Flying type."
"It figures that she would have a Pokemon with queen in its name" Momoko said while shaking her head.
"Vespiquen use silver wind to fill up the stage and then go to the center to use power gem" Princess told her Pokemon.
The Vespiquen flew around the stage flapping its wings letting tiny silvery scales fall from them. After it had a cloud of them floating all over the stage it went to the middle and a bright light shot out of the gem on its forehead. When the light hit the tiny scales floating in the air it got bounced all over the place making it look like a giant disco ball was being used.
After about a minute of that Princess then told her Pokemon "Now use ominous wind followed by flash."
Her Pokemon then started to let out a sickly purple cloud from its body. It continued to do this until it filled up three quarters of the stage. Then everyone started seeing flashes of light from inside the cloud. It looked like there were multiple Pokemon battling inside it.
Princess had her Vespiquen continue to do this until the time on her Appeals attempt ended. She then returned her Pokemon to its Pokeball before bowing to the crowd and then the judges.
The judges gave her 83 out of 100 points. With most of them coming from Elesa the Gym Leader and model.
The companions then started to wait again until one of their friends were call to perform.
Finally the announcer said "The next contestant is May"
May came out onto the stage and tossed her Pokeball letting out her Pokemon for this round.
What appeared was a large green lizard-like Pokemon. It had three claws on each foot, red eyes, pointed ears, and green fern-like leaves on its back with a flower growing above them. The flower had a tall brown stalk, pink with white polkedotted petals, and a yellow center with a small protrusion coming from it.
"So she still has her" Ash said while using his Pokedex to scan May's Pokemon "Venusauar, the Seed Pokemon. After a rainy day, the flower on its back smells stronger. The scent attracts other Pokemon. This Pokemon is female. It is a Grass and Poison type."
"Alright Venusaur use petal dance and then leaf storm" May told her Pokemon.
Her Venusaur the started to fill the air of the stage up with both petals and leaves.
"Now make multiple light screens in different areas of the stage" she said to her Pokemon.
Everyone watched as they saw multiple shimmers of light appear all over the stage.
"Finally use a solarbeam to destroy all of the petals and leaves" she said while smiling.
The Venusaur then turned slightly as she began to gather sunlight into the tip of the flower on her back. She then unleashed it having the beam of light bounce from one light screen to another destroying all of the petals and leaves as it went. When it was finished the destroyed petals and leaves spelled 'Nimbasa City' in alternating colors of pink and green before they fell to the floor of the stage.
The crowd jumped up and gave her a huge cheer for her performance, with her friends clapping and cheering the loudest.
She then recalled her Venusaur and bowed to the crowd and the judges.
It took the judges less than a minute to come up with her score. It was a 94 out of 100. One of the highest scores received so far.
May left the stage with a huge grin on her face after seeing her score.
"Well now we just have to wait for Miyako's turn on stage and then we'll find out how many of them will continue on to tomorrow's Appeal round" Cilan said.
The other's nodded in agreement.
After a few more contestants went the announcer said "Are next contestant is Jessilina."
A woman with an orange dress with no sleeves, white long sleeved under shirt, boots, a large yellow ribbon tied behind her back at her waist, yellow glasses, and purple hair tied up in pigtails with yellow ribbons stepped onto the stage.
"Huh, where have I seen her before" Ash asked to himself as he looked at her.
Jessilina then threw her Pokeball into the air releasing her Pokemon.
What came out was what looked like a pink jellyfish. It had three tentacles that appeared to be its legs and feet, two other tentacles that were held higher that it must have used for arms and hands, on the edges of all of its tentacles were frills, it had a collar around its neck that was made up of large bumps, blue eyes, and what looked like a five pointed light pink crown on its head.
"That's a kind of cute Pokemon" Iris said as she looked at it.
Momoko held her Pokedex up to get its info "Frillish, the Floating Pokemon. With its thin, veil-like arms wrapped around the body of its opponent, it sinks to the ocean floor. They paralyze prey with poison, then drag them down to their lairs, five miles below the surface. This Pokemon is female. It is a Water and Ghost type."
"That's a Water type Pokemon. I need to catch me one of those" Misty said with a smile on her face.
Jessiline then pointed into the air "Frillish use bubblebeam and then freeze the bubbles with ice beam."
Frillish started to blow a stream of bubbles into the air which she used to form a chandiler. She then switched to blowing a white mist at it that then froze it solid.
"Now hit it with an energy ball and shadow ball" Jessiline said with a smirk on her face.
The Frillish gathered white colored energy between its tentacle/hands and then shot it at the frozen chandiler. After that it did the same thing with some black colored energy before firing it at the chandiler. The chandiler the started to throw out light and shadows across the stage in a soothing pattern.
Jessiline let that continue until her time ran out. She then recalled her Pokemon and bowed to everyone while she awaited her score.
The judges debated for a few second before they gave her a score of 89 out of 100.
Jessiline smiled as she left the stage.
"Okay, now we that there are only a few contestants left we should see Miyako's performance soon" Peach said while wagging his tail.
When there were only five contestants left the announcer finally said "Our next contestant is Miyako."
Miyako walked out onto the stage and bowed to everyone before she threw her Pokeball into the air.
"Who do you think she'll use first" Ash asked everyone.
"I don't know but hopefully she'll be able to make a good performance after seeing everyone else go" Cilan said in response.
The Pokemon that got released from her Pokeball was her Dratini.
"Dratini use twister five times and then dragon dance to move through them" Miyako told her Dratini.
Dratini nodded before five twisters appeared on the stage one right after the other. The twisters started moving around the stage randomly. Dratini then started to move her body in a serpentine like fashion as she went into the group of twisters that she had made. She kept moving around and avoiding being hit by them.
Miyako had her keep this up until her time ran out. She then had Dratini dismiss the twisters before having her come over to stand next to her.
"That was probably the best performance she could give right now with Dratini. Its still young and hasn't learned many moves yet. She's probably saving her other Pokemon for the later rounds if she makes it past this one" Kaoru told the others.
The judges debated and finally gave her a score of 66 out of 100.
Miyako smiled and waved to her friends before she left the stage with her Dratini by her side.
"That's the lowest score out of the three of them. Do you think she made to the next round?" Misty asked with a frown.
The others shrugged and just kept watching the last of the performances.
After the last contestant got their score the announcer stepped up to the center of the stage "Alright folks. The contestants that will be going onto the next round are those who have a score of 66 or above. That means that only about one third of you will be participating in tomorrows Appeal round. So out of about 600 contestants only 200 get to continue. We will start the performances off at 7:30 a.m. We hope to see you there."
The companions then went outside and met up with May, Dawn, and Miyako. When they got together they then headed off to the Pokemon Center to get rooms for the night and discuss how they were going to deal with the capturing of Princess after the Contest.

Now if anyone can guess who Jessiline is I'll give you a cookie. If not I will explain in the next chapter who and why she is competing.

So this means that Kaoru will be getting a Lucario or maybe a Riolu, Miyako will get a Ralts, Momoko will get a Gible, and all three of them will be getting an Eevee. Now don't worry about the Eevee evolution's for the girls, I've already figured out what one's I'm going to give them. Though you can guess, but I won't tell until they evolve.
