Appeals Round 2

Miyako had her Pokemon out trying to figure out which one to use in the next appeals round.

As she sat there looking back and forth between her Pokedex and her Pokemon Dratini spoke up "Mom, I've been talking with the others and Petilil would like you to use her in the next round. She feels like something great will happen."

Miyako thought about it for a few seconds and then smiled, "Thank you for deciding who I should use next. I hope we can do just as well this time around as we did during the first round we'll make it into the battling part of the contest tomorrow."

Dawn walked up at that moment and smiled, "Hey Miyako. I wanted to give you something for having made it into the second round of your first Pokemon Contest." She then handed her a stone that was orange and had small spikey protrusions on it.

"What is this?" Miyako asked as she held it in her hand.

"That is a Sun Stone. You can use it to evolve some Pokemon. Like your Petilil," she told her.

"Why would you give me something like this?" Miyako asked her with a slight frown on her face.

"I have a spare and I thought if your Petilil wants it can evolve to give you a better chance of getting into the battling portion of the contest. Plus I think you would like to see her evolved form," Dawn told her with a smile on her face.

Miyako held onto the stone and looked at Petilil, "Would you like to evolve?"

Petilil closed her eyes in thought for a few seconds before opening them with a huge smile and spinning quickly in excitement.

I guess that means yes," Miyako said while smiling at Petilil's excitement. She then looked at Dawn "So how do I use it?"

"Simply hold it near her and it should trigger her evolution," Dawn told her while anticipating the change.

Miyako walked towards Petilil while holding the Sun Stone in front of her. When she got within about two feet both the stone and Petilil began to glow before the stone disappears in a beam of light. The beam went into her Pokemon which then began to grow and change.

Petilil grew to almost twice her previous height. The leaves on her head fell flat and four reddish orange

petals sprouted on top of them. On top of the petals appeared a five pointed crown with a light brown orb on top of each point of the crown. Her eyes turned yellow with the collar bellow her head changing from green to yellow and actually growing a body beneath that. Two leaves, one on each side of her head, grew longer so that they framed her face. Two others on the back of her head grew even longer on the back of her head, even crossing slightly, down to her new feet. Her body was white from her neck to her waist, with a darker green leaf growing from each of her shoulders that looked like arms. From her waist to just above her feet appeared a voluminous green skirt. She looked like she had four feet in what looked like a plus pattern that were yellow and curled up at the toes.

Miyako pulled out her Pokedex aiming it at her newly evolved Pokemon. "Lilligant, the Flowering Pokemon. The fragrance of the garland on its head has a relaxing effect. It withers if a Trainer doesn't take care of it. Even veteran Trainers face a challenge in getting its beautiful flower to bloom. This Pokemon is popular with celebrities. Lilligant has learned 'Teeter Dance'."

Miyako's new Lilligant took a look at itself and then looked at her with a huge smile on her face.

Miyako bent over slightly and gave her a hug. She then looked up at Dawn, "Thank you again. If there is anything I can do to repay you just ask."

"All you have to do to repay me is win this next 'Appeals Round' and make it into the battling round with your new Pokemon," Dawn told her with a smile before walking away.

"I will," Miyako said with a whisper.

"Our next contestant is May," the announcer said just before she walked onto the stage.

May bowed to the crowd and the judges before throwing up her pokeball. What came out was what appeared to be a kitten. It had a pale face, lower half of its body, legs, and its thin tail. The rest of its head and upper half of its body was pink. There was a large pink puffball on the end of its tail with three hairs sticking up that each had a white ball on the end.

Momoko pulled her Pokedex out to find out what it was. "Skitty, the Kitten Pokemon. It can't stop itself from chasing moving things, and it runs in a circle, chasing its own tail. This Pokemon is a female."

"That's a very cute Pokemon. I think Miyako would love to have one of those," Cilan said as they watched May's next performance.

May got down on one knee with an arm extended above her head. "Skitty use combo number 7 to wow the judges."

Skitty nodded before she ran at May. She then jumped on May's shoulder then ran up her arm jumping off of that. In mid air she opened her mouth and unleashed a spiral of fire. At the same time leaves and snow flew from her body following the fire into the air in a spiral as well. When she landed she opened her mouth again and shot a beam of pure light through the center of the three combined spirals before it all disappeared.

May then stood up and motioned for Skitty to come and stand by her. "That is my full appeals for this round," she told everyone.

After she said that the crowd gave her a huge round of applause.

It took the judges a few minutes before they gave her a score.

"The judges have decided to give May a score of 75 points out of 100. Everyone give May another round of applause for that performance showcasing three different elements," the announcer said as May walked off the stage after hearing her score.

"Our next contestant is Princess," the announcer said as she came out onto the stage.

"Come out Jellicent. Let's show them your greatness," Princess said as she threw her Pokeball into the air.

What came out was a large pink Pokemon. It looked like a jellyfish with a face and a crown on its head. The eyes on its face had long eyelashes as well as looking like it was wearing lipstick. It had three tentacles that hung down like legs. There were also two tentacles that looked like arms. The outside of each tentacle was lined with a lighter pink edge. Finally it had a light pink fluffy part around its neck.

Ash used his Pokedex to find out what it was, "Jellicent, the Floating Pokemon. They propel themselves by expelling absorbed seawater from their bodies. Their favorite food is life energy. The fate of ships and crew that wander into Jellicent's habitat: all sunken, all lost, all vanished. This Pokemon is a female."

"Is it just me or does that Pokemon look like it might be royalty with that crown on its head?" Kaoru asked.

"It does look like it might be. Why do you ask?" Misty answered her.

"Princess has always wanted to stand out. It makes sense that she would use Pokemon that might look like royalty in this compatition so that she would stand out more than everyone else," Miyako told them.

"So she most likely will have other Pokemon that are related to her theme of using royalty to stand out," Ash said.

"Yes, and I hope there aren't many Pokemon like that," Peach said with a sigh.

"Jellicent use 'Water Pulse' and follow it up with 'Ice Beam'," Princess told her Pokemon.

Jellicent crossed its arms in front of itself. A large ball of water started to form that looked like it was spinning on the inside. After a few seconds Jellicent uncrossed her arms flinging the the ball straight up into the air. She then quickly shot a light blue beam from her mouth at it. When the beam hit the ball of water it froze it instantly.

"Quickly Jellicent, use 'Psychic' and shatter it. Then move the pieces into the pattern we practiced before using 'Hyper Beam'," Princess said with a smile on her face.

The outside of the frozen ball glowed purple before it shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces. Jellicent then quickly rearranged them into a pattern in the air above her. She then sent a beam of pure yellow energy at the largest piece near her. When the beam hit it, it was reflected towards another piece. This continued until the pattern was revealed to look like the Gym Leader Elesa. Jellicent held the ice in the air until the light faded. It then dropped the ice to the stage floor before heading over to float next to Princess.

When the crowd saw the image of their local Gym Leader hanging in the air they went wild with applause.

The judges quickly huddled together before they gave her a score of 86 out of 100.

Princess smiled as she turned and skipped off to prepare for the upcoming battle portion of the contest the next day.

"Our next contestant is Dawn," the announcer said introducing her.

When Dawn came out she did a twirl and wave before she tossed her Pokeball into the air.

What came out was a small blue penguin like Pokemon. It had a light blue body with two white spots on its chest. It also had what looked like a dark blue cape on. Its feet were yellow with light blue wings and a dark blue tail.

Kaoru used her Pokedex to get its information, "Piplup, the Penguin Pokemon. A poor walker, it often falls down. However, its strong pride makes it puff up its chest without a care. This Pokemon is a male."

"That's an interesting choice for this part of the compatition," Cilan said while scratching his chin.

"Yes, but she's had him since she started her journey," Ash said with a smile on his face.

"Piplup, use 'Whirlpool' then hit it with an 'Ice Beam'," Dawn said as she did a little twirl.

Piplup nodded before he looked straight up as water started to appear at the tip of his beak. The amount of water quickly grew. As the amount of water grew it started to rise into the air in a swirling cone shape, with the tip of the cone touching the tip of Piplup's beak. Piplup then quickly opened his mouth and hit it an 'Ice Beam' that froze the whirlpool solid.

"Now jump back and use 'Drill Peck' and then launch yourself at it with 'Headbutt'," Dawn told him while putting one of her fingers near her face and giving off a very cheerful smile.

Piplup quickly jumped back and then put the tip of its beak against the ground. When he did this his beak started to spin. He then lifted his legs off from the ground, which made his beak stop spinning, but started his body spinning. He took about a second to build momentum before he flung himself at the frozen water sculpture with his head glowing. When he hit it he shattered it into powder. After that Piplup took a second reorient himself before he ran over to stand next to May.

The judges took a few seconds to debate before they gave her a score of 72 out of 100.

Dawn smiled and bowed before she picked up Piplup and left the stage.

"Our next contestant is Jessilina," the announcer said.

"Alright Woobat, let's dazzle them," she said as she threw out her Pokeball.

What came out was a light blue fuzzball about the size of a soccer ball. It had what appeared to be a single heart shaped, pink, eye. It flew with a pair of black bat wings. When it opened its mouth it looked to have a single tooth.

Ash quickly used his Pokedex to learn about it, "Woobat, the Bat Pokemon. Suction from its nostrils enables it to stick to cave walls during sleep. It leaves a heart-shaped mark behind. Its habitat is dark forests and caves. It emits ultrasonic waves from its nose to learn about its surroundings. This Pokemon is a male."

"So that isn't its eye, but its nose. I wonder if it even has eyes?" Momoko asked.

"I don't know, but it can probably navigate in the dark easily from its description in the Pokedex," Peach said with his head tilted.

"Woobat use 'Light Screen' to make ten mirrors. Then use 'Air Cutter' to break them up," Jessilina told her Pokemon.

Woobat quickly made ten flat reflective rectangular clear surfaces in mid air. Woobat then flapped its wings rapidly sending out multiple blades of wind. Each blade hit one of the screens of light, shattering them.

"Now Woobat use 'Telekinesis' to arrange the pieces into the pattern we practiced and then use 'Charge Beam' to reveal it," Jessilina told him with a smile.

Woobat glowed green while all of the pieces of its light screen also started to glow green. He lifted them into the air arranging them into an unusual pattern. Woobat continued to glow green as a small ball of electricity formed in front of him. A bolt of electricity shot from the ball and hit one of the light screen pieces. It ricocheted off of that one and started to bounce back and forth between them all. What was revealed it looked like a unicorn with an afro of hair on its head.

This sent the crowd into a frenzy of clapping and cheering.

"What is that Pokemon?" Misty asked.

Kaoru brought up her Pokedex and with a little bit of luck found it. She then let everyone look while the Pokedex spoke, "Keldeo, the Colt Pokemon. It crosses the entire world, running over the surface of oceans and rivers. It appears at senic waterfronts. By blasting water from its hooves, it can glid across water. It excels at using leg moves while battling. It is the fourth and youngest member of the Swords of Justice."

"The Swords of Justice are one of two groups of Legendary Pokemon here in Unova," Iris said with a bit of awe in her voice.

After the judges were done convinig they gave Jessilina a score of 82 out of 100.

Jessilina then bowed to the judges and crowd before recalling her Pokemon and leaving the stage.

"Now one of our last contestants, Miyako!" the announcer said as she walked onto the stage.

When she got to the center of the stage she bowed and threw her Pokeball into the air saying, "Come out Lilligant!"

"When did she get that Pokemon?" Ash asked.

"Technically she already had it. All she needed was to get a Sun Stone," Cilan told him.

"Why would she need a Sun Stone, whatever that is?" Peach asked.

"A Sun Stone is an Evolutionary item that is used for the evolution of certain Pokemon. Specifically to evolve Petilil into Lilligant," Iris explained.

"What other types are there?" Kaoru asked.

"Well amoung us right now there are four Pokemon that can evolve by that means. There's my Staryu, by using a Water Stone will turn into a Starmie, Cilan's Pansage, by using a Leaf Stone will turn into a Simisage, Miyako's Vulpix, by using a Fire Stone will turn into a Ninetales, and finally Ash's Pikachu, by using a Thunder Stone will turn into a Raichu. Though I know Pikachu will never want to evolve," Misty told them as she scratched Pikachu's head.

"Why wouldn't Pikachu want to evolve?" Momoko asked.

"It's because Pikachu wants to prove that it is as powerful as any evolved Pokemon, if not more powerful," Ash told them with a grin.

After that the three from a different dimension had more to think about.

"Lilligant use 'Double Team' and follow it up with 'Grass Whistle' and 'Teeter Dance'," Miyako said with a smile.

Lilligant made about five copies of itself. It then summoned a leaf and started blowing into it to make an upbeat tune. When the original Lilligant did this her copies started to move around in a confusing, but beautiful dance.

After about three minutes Miyako said, "Alright, now use 'Magical Leaf' and disperse your copies."

Lilligant continued to play her tune while she got rid of each of her copies one by one with leaves she shot from her skirt. Doing a twirl each time to throw them at her copies. When the last copy disappeared Lilligant bowed to the crowd and judges.

The judges took about a minute before they gave her a score of 67 out of 100.

Miyako returned Lilligant to her Pokeball before she left the stage.

Elesa the Gym Leader came out onto the stage, "Now to reveal the top four who will be competing in the 'Battle Round'." Elesa turned and pointed at the screen behind her.

It turned on and showed the pictures of May, Dawn, Jessilina, and Princess.

"I guess Miyako didn't get enough points to make it to the next round," Momoko said with a frown.

"Yeah, but she will be able to at least watch it. After that we will need to capture Princess," Kaoru said with a glare at the screen.

A/N: Here's the new chapter. Now before anyone complains about Miyako not getting into the battle part of the contest, I'll explain why I did it.

I was originally going to have get to that part, but I couldn't justify it to myself. It would mean I would have to have eight participatents in that round and I would have had to split it up into two parts. Thus, making it take even longer to get to their confrontation with Princess.

I have some big plans for that. Including a surprise reveal that I hope you will like.

One last thing before I end this chapter. The winner of this Pokemon Contest might be a surprise for some.

Lastly please read and review.
