RWBY Sisterhood, Chapter 2

Airships were traveling in convoys across the sky, moving back and forth from the coast to Beacon academy. The school was on an island that was a little over a kilometer off of into the sea. It had been about three months since the train attack, in that time summer had come as well as a new school year with plenty of potential huntsman arriving to see if they would become full fledge huntsman.

"You can see the entire campus from up here." Ruby said.

"You saw this before." Yang said.

"The only time I flew in was when it was dark and I could barely make out anything."

"I guess. I'm still mad that you didn't tell me that you were going to be fighting off some Grimm before coming in. If I knew that I would have come out and spent some quality time with you."

"I'll tell you next time." Ruby said.

"You better". Yang said as she gave a soft punch in the shoulder to her sister. The two of them looked out the window as the ship started to descend towards the academy.

The only thing on the island was the academy. Transport to and from was done either by air or ship as there was no permanent bridge between the two. It was believed that the island used to be part of the mainland but overtime the sea broke the two apart. This made it where there no beaches but instead sheer faced cliffs all around. Originally the academy was a fort to defend the capitol but as time went on it became an academy to train huntsman.

Once the ship landed the student disembarked with their luggage and were guided to the main hall. The landing area was over a kilometer away from the

"I can't believe I get to go to school with you. Do you think we'll be in the same team?" Ruby asked her sister.

"No idea" Yang said. "The headmaster is the one who decides that."

"Yeah. Well either way we are going to the same school so we will be able to see each other whenever we want." Ruby said as she shot out her arms in excitement. Not looking at where her arms were going she hit one of the students in the back making them almost fall over. Ruby turned to see a girl recovering from Ruby hit and turning around to face her. The girl was about her height but had short blue hair, red eyes and a mask covering her face, starting with her nose and going past her chin.

The girl walked up to Ruby, stopping less than half an arm's length from her face. "Watch where you throw your arms." It was the only thing the girl said before walking off.

"Um, yeah. I'm sorry." Ruby said not sure if the girl heard her.

"What is her problem?" Yang said as they kept on walking. "It was an accident but she acted like you were going to start a fight with her."

"Maybe she just had a rough flight?" Ruby said.

Yang looked at Ruby. "Who know. By the way it looks like the strap for your weapon is coming undone."

Ruby's weapon was slung to her side, she looked at the strap and saw that it almost slid out of its binding. "You go on ahead and get us a good spot, I'm going to fix this really quick."

"Ok, I'll see you inside." Yang said as she hurried off to the hall.

Ruby sat down at a bench where there was someone else sitting at, sitting down she readjusted the strap for her weapon. Once it was fixed she got up and looked at the other person who was sitting there who was looking a little pale. "Are you ok?"

The guy looked at Ruby. "Yeah, I'm just a little nauseous, I have a hard time flying on large ships, the smaller the better."

"Isn't that the opposite of most people?" Ruby asked.

The guy smiled. "It is. Thankfully huntsman fly in small aircraft so if we ever team up you don't have to worry about me getting nauseous. By the way I'm Jaune."

"I'm Ruby." She said as she put her hand out.

Jaune took it and gave her and shake. The two let go and started to walk towards the hall. "So, were you really airsick or are you nervous about your first day here?"

Jaune smiled. "Just airsick, it runs in my family."

"I have to ask, does being a huntsman also run in your family?"

"Somewhat. How about you?" Jaune asked.

"The same. My dad, mom and uncle were all part of the same team when they went here." Ruby said.

"Wow, I guess being a huntsman runs in your blood." Jaune said.

"I guess"

Jaune looked at her. "I know we just met but do you want to be here? It kind of sounds like you don't want to be a huntsman."

Ruby kept on looking forward. "I do. It's more that I wish my mom was still around to see me here. She died before I got to know her or even remember her face."

"I get that. My dad died before I went off to Sanctum Academy." Jaune said as he turned his head forward.

"I kind of wish my sister didn't run off, she would have a joke or pun to lighten the mood."

Well, we can walk towards the hall in awkward silence." Jaune said.

Ruby smiled. "That actually sounds pretty good.". The two of them kept on walking with the other students until they reached the main hall. Outside there were current students handing out itineraries as student went inside. Once inside Ruby said goodbye to Jaune and went over to her sister who found a spot near the wall. The two of them sat on the floor and waited for everyone else to arrive. For the next hour airships dropped off students that walked the same path that the other did. Once everyone had arrived the doors were closed and Ozpin came out onto the stage.

"Greetings to all of you. I am Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon Academy. Today is the start for all of you to become huntsman but not all of you will finish. By the end of the first year on average twenty percent of you will drop out of training and four of you, a team's worth will die during training. I say this not to scare you but to inform you, that being a huntsman is not a job but a way of life, one where death will always be nearby. It is unfortunately a necessary job, one that is suited to a small number of people in this world. In the end there is no shame in attending Beacon and realizing that being a huntsman is a job that you are not suited for."

"Tonight you all will spend in here. Tomorrow you all will be assigned teams and partners. Once you have your teams you will be assigned your dorm room. You all have been provided an itinerary that has a map of the campus, dinner will be in the cafeteria as well as breakfast tomorrow morning before partner selection begins. Until then, I look forward to having you all here at Beacon."

With that Ozpin left the stage. The students went off to the cafeteria to eat before it closed for the night. After eating they changed into their sleeping attire and either talked or tried to get some sleep. Ruby and Yang changed as well and went back to their bags. Ruby looked around and saw the same girl that she had hit earlier, she had already changed and was leaning against the corner. Looking around her there was no one else trying to talk to her.

"Everything ok?" Yang asked.

"Yeah, I was just looking around.". Ruby said as she sat down. She looked over at the girl that was next to her. "So what are you reading?". The girl said nothing but lifted her book to show the cover. "In the Grove, is it any good?".

"Yeah" the girl said not looking at Ruby.

"So, what is it about?"

"Um, a woodcutter." The girl was barely giving any attention away from her book.

Yang put her arm over Ruby's shoulder. "Hey there, whatcha reading?".

The girl realized that she wasn't going to be left alone without talking with them. She looked up at the two of them, seeing the two of them Ruby seemed like a moon that was starting partially blocking the sun. Just seeing Yang's smile caused her eyes to widen and then blink away as it was too bright for her. "I'm sorry, I was just in the middle of a, passage.". The girl rubbed her eyes with her free hand.

"I'm sorry, you were reading, I really should have waited." Ruby said. "I was just trying to get to know some of the people here."

"It's fine. So, do you two know each other?"

"yep, I'm Yang and this is my little sister, Ruby." Yang said still smiling.

The girl looked at them while taking in a deep breathe, trying to keep herself relaxed. "I'm Blake, it's nice to meet you to.". Blake put her hand out and shook both of their hands. "So where are you two from?"

"We are an hour south from Signal academy, we live out in the country but it isn't bad." Yang said. "So where are you from?"

Blake looked down at her book. "I traveled a lot so I never really had a home. It wasn't bad, I got to see a lot of interesting things."

"Well I guess you say we never bad it so good." Ruby just sighed at Yang's pun but Blake started to laugh.

Ruby got up and moved her stuff over to the other side of Yang's stuff. "If you like her puns then I'll let you two be by each other. Because one she starts she doesn't stop."

Blake smiled but immediately went back to her normal expression when Ruby and Yang looked back at her direction.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

The next morning all of the student were shuttled off to the forest that was used as a training area for the school. Students were broken up into different groups and sent off with the instructors.

"Hello students I'm professor Oobleck and I'll be assisting you in your partner and team selection, the selection process is quite simple the first person that you meet up with will be your partner, from there you will work your way to a clearing that has been marked on your map, each partner-team will pick up an item left on the pedestals to show that they found their way to the clearing, once you have your item you will make your way back to the end point that has been labeled on your map, also there are Grimm out there but there shouldn't be anything you all can't take care of but if there is one don't worry as us instructors will be keeping an eye on all of you, any questions?" The man was a tall, slender man with green hair who talked rather fast without stopping.

Jaune raised his hand. "Yes, we are a good distance away from the start point, how are we going to get there?"

"Ah, yes, well that is why some of you have been given parachutes as you are not the best of landing on your feet.". Before anyone could ask when the airship was going to come and pick them up the students were getting launched in the air in different directions. The platform they were on was designed to get the students into their respective start areas, quickly albeit without their knowledge. Despite the animated way they were sent into the air some of them were able to use their semblances to guide themselves and even accelerate themselves into the start area. Other students did their best to get themselves orientated so they could use their parachutes. Within a couple of minutes the students were all in their respective start points.

Ruby had no problem, she couldn't fly but her semblance made it where she could move fast enough to slow her decent. Once on the ground she started to look around to see if anyone else was around. She didn't see anyone immediately so she pulled out her map and worked out where she was. Putting the map away she started to head off in the direction that was away from where they were launched from. Running through the forest she wondered who her partner would be which happened as quickly as she ran. Coming up to a small clearing was the girl that she had accidently hit the day before.

Hearing the sound of something running the girl had her sword in hand. When she could see Ruby coming up she lowered her sword but left it unsheathed.

"So, hi again. Have you met up with anyone else?" Ruby asked.

"No" the girl said.

"Ok" Ruby walked up to the girl and put her hand out. "I'm Ruby, I'm looking forward to being your partner."

The girl quickly shook her hand. "Weiss" Her name was the only thing she said before turning around and heading off to the clearing that had the item they needed.

Ruby easily caught up with Weiss. "About yesterday, I'm sorry about almost knocking you over. It was an accident.". The girl said nothing, she looked over at Ruby and then went back to moving towards their objective.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Yang decided that a crash landing into a tree trunk was the best way to stop; while she did stop the trees around the one she hit mourned for the loss of their brethren. Looking around Yang didn't see anyone else but she could hear the sound of a Grimm in the distance. Finding a partner moved to second on her list as she headed off in the direction that the Grimm was hopefully at. By the time she arrived she saw the Grimm turning into ash. As the ash cleared she saw Blake wiping off her blade. Blake looked up to see Yang with a disappointed look on her face.

"And I wanted to kill the first Grimm and start my year of with a bang." Yang said. Blake looked wide eyed at her. "But at least you get to start the year with a, Yang!". Blake chuckled at the pun. "So I take it you haven't met up with anyone else?"

"No" Blake said.

"Well I guess you lucked out because anyone else would think that being my partner would be a 'pun-ishment'."

Blake smiled but turned towards the forest. "We should get moving to the clearing."

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Well at least I didn't need a parachute" Jaune had landed in some trees and was working his way down. The area he was in was thicker than some of the other areas so he couldn't tell if there was anyone else around him. Moving down his foot slipped off of a branch and he fell towards the ground. Just before he thought he was going to hit the soil he started to move sideways. Looking to his side he saw that someone had caught him. Once the person holding him landed on their feet Jaune looked and saw it was a girl who caught him.

"It looks like it is raining men" The girl said with a smile.

"Hallelujah?" Jaune said with a shrug and a smile. The girl started to laugh, she put Jaune down so she wouldn't drop him. "Was it really that funny?"

The girl stopped laughing but she still had a smile on her face. "It was how you said it."

"Well thanks for catching me Pyrrha."

"So you know who I am as well" Pyrrha said.

"Well when you have the title as the 'Pride of Mistral' it is hard for anyone who doesn't live in Mistral to not know who you are. Being here I'm pretty sure everyone knows you and I'm guessing everyone is going to hate me because I'm guessing that we are now partners?"

Pyrrha smiled. "You sound rather distraught about this."

"I'll manage, somehow."

Pyrrha put out her hand. "That is good to hear, Jaune Arc."

Jaune took her hand but was surprised. "How do you know who I am?"

"Well you are part of the Arc family and unless I'm mistaken you are a seventh generation huntsman. If anything I'm grateful to have someone like you as my partner."

Jaune smiled. "The Pride of Mistral is a fan of me, I really don't know what to say."

"I guess we can start with what kind of weapon you use." Pyrrha gestured to his sword. "Do you just use that or do you have anything else?"

Jaune unsheathed his sword and handed it to her. Once he handed it over a shield opened up on his left arm. "Just these two. It is a tradition in my family to attend a huntsman academy with just a sword and shield. Once I graduate I can make my own weapon. A lot of huntsman make some amazing weapons but in doing so they don't get the basics down. Using something basic like this helps with getting used to fighting Grimm up close."

Pyrrha handed the sword back to Jaune but in doing so she accidently cut finger on the blade. "That is deathly sharp. I didn't even feel it cut me.". She pressed another finger against her cut in an attempt to stop the bleeding.

"Mind if I fix that.". Jaune took Pyrrha's finger and wrapped her hand around it. In a matter of seconds Jaune let go and the cut was gone.

"So your semblance is healing?" Pyrrha asked.

"No, it is actually aura amp. I can amplify other peoples aura which increases their semblance. It also lets me transfer it to other people and if focused it can heal someone. And if I have two people I can transfer aura from one person to another without using any of my aura."

"That is amazing" Pyrrha said.

"It is really useful as a support semblance but I can't use it offensively. But it I have someone else who can project their semblance then I can increase their ability. So, what is your semblance?"

Pyrrha took her shield off of her back and put it out for Jaune to take. Before he could grab it she let go of it but it stayed in the air as if she was holding it. "My semblance is polarity, if something has a charge I can move it towards or away from me. I can use my aura to increase the charge an object has to make it easier to move.".

Jaune looked at the shield as Pyrrha talked. "I thought your semblance was magnetism but it works on non-magnetic stuff. So do you just use your shield as a weapon?"

Pyrrha took off her belt a blade that looked as if it belonged on the tip of a spear. Activating the blade a shaft section extended out turning the blade into a javelin. "This is Miló, it can function as a blade, a javelin or the shaft can go to half its length and function as a short quarterstaff.". Activating Miló again the weapon transformed itself into a rifle. "Or I can just shoot something if I need to."

Jaune handed the shield back to her. "It seems like you are good on offense and defense."

Pyrrha smiled. "Thanks".

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

A pair was coming up to the clearing that had the item that each pair needed to retrieve. The pair found Ruby and Weiss waiting by the pillars that had different items on top of them. Seeing the two of them, Ruby got up from the rock that she was sitting on. "Hi there, I'm Ruby and this is Weiss."

"Hey there, I'm Nora and this is my partner Ren. This is where we are supposed to get our item."

"It sure is. We were just waiting for another team to show up so we could move back as larger group to the end point. Since you two are here I guess we can go back, right Weiss?" Ruby looked over at Weiss to see her looking at the three of them.

"No. There are two more pieces, we wait for the other two pairs to show up." Weiss turned back around looking out into the forest.

Nora leaned into Ruby's ear. "Is she always like that?"

Ruby shrugged. "She has hardly talked to me and I've tried to get to know her as we walked to the clearing."

"We will wait here with you two. Having a larger group isn't a bad idea." Ren said.

"Thanks" Ruby said.

Nora went over to one of the pillars and picked up one of the pieces that were on it. "Well we are half way there. Might as well wait for the others to show up.".

A couple of minutes went by before Yang and Blake showed up. Seeing Yang Ruby ran up to her and gave her a hug. Letting go she looked to see if there was anyone else with them. "So you two are partners?"

Blake smiled. "Don't worry, I'll make sure nothing happens to her."

"I'm more worried about you having to deal with jokes."

"Hey I kept the puns to minimum." Yang said. She looked around at everyone. "So who is your partner?"

"Weiss" Ruby pointed over to her sitting on her rock.

Yang leaned in. "I think you might have gotten it worse than Blake.".

Blake walked over and picked up one of the items. "There is one left, are we waiting to go back in a group?"

"Yeah, it was Weiss idea." Ruby said.

A noise came from the forest and out came Pyrrha and Jaune. "Hello everyone. I take it this is the clearing we needed to reach?".

Weiss got up and picked up the last item and threw it to Pyrrha. Grabbing it she looked at the item which looked like a chess piece, she handed it to Jaune who looked at it as well before putting it in his pocket.

"Well thanks for waiting for us. I'm Jaune and this is Pyrrha." Jaune pulled out a map, putting it on the ground so everyone else could see. Everyone looked at the map getting an idea of how they should go. Jaune picked up a stick and started to show his route to everyone. "If this is where we are at we should go back the way we came until we reach this point. From here we can cut across this open area which takes us to the end point. It is farther distance wise but we didn't come across any Grimm and if that area is clear we should take it."

Yang put her hands on her hips. "Come on, where is the fun in that? We're training to be huntsman, we should go looking for Grimm."

"I agree with Jaune." Everyone turned and looked as Weiss who was looking at the map. "We know the terrain we have already gone across and having an open area will make it easier for us to see and fight any Grimm that might come."

"I agree with them as well." Pyrrha said.

"Besides this is part of the training area for the academy, you know there are going to be Grimm around here for us to fight. So whichever way we go I bet we are going to come across some." Nora said.

Ren looked at the map again, looking at the route that Jaune came up with. "I'm with Jaune on this."

Yang looked at everyone and sighed. "Ok, but I get first dib's on any Grimm we come across. I only saw one and Blake took it out by the time I saw it."

Jaune folded up the map. "You are more than welcomed to take out the first Grimm we come across. Before we go lets show each other our weapons and what our semblances are. I have my sword and shield and my semblance lets me enhance other people semblances as well as acting as a shield for myself. I can also use my semblance to heal others so if anyone gets injured I can heal you."

"Hi, I'm Pyrrha and I have my shield as well as Milo that can transform into a short sword, javelin or a rifle. My Semblance lets me move objects closer or farther away."

"Hi again, so I'm Nora and I have my hammer Magnhild which can also turn into a grenade launcher. My semblance lets me absorb and discharge electricity."

"Hello, I'm Ren. I have my dual pistols Storm Flower. The blades on them are fixed but they can be used as boomerangs. My semblance lets me mask my emotions and the emotions of others, this makes it where the Grimm cannot detect me or others."

"So I'm Yang. My weapons are called Ember Celica, they are gauntlets that also fire shotgun rounds. My semblance lets me absorb the energy from anything hitting me and I can use it right back on what hit me."

"I'm Blake and my weapon is Gambol Shroud, it doesn't transform but it does have three forms. The first is where it is sheathed, the sheath reinforces the blade letting it cut through thicker or tougher objects. The second is where it is unsheathed, I can use the sheath as a sword while also using the blade as well as the pistol that is attached to it. Unsheathed lets me use the ribbon attached to it so I can use it as a grappling hook. My semblance lets me create clones of myself."

"So I'm Ruby and this is my weapon the Crescent Rose. It can go from its collapsed form into a short range rifle, a sniper rifle or open up all the way into a scythe. My semblance lets me move as extremely fast speeds. I can kind of fly with it but if I stop the I will start to fall."

"I'm Weiss. My weapon is called Myrtenaster, it is a rapier that can also shoot Dust. My semblance lets me create glyphs, they can increase an objects speed or cause time dilation making time move faster or slower for the object I apply the glyph to."

Jaune looked around. "Ok, unless anyone else has something to add how about we get out of the forest."

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

At one of the platforms Ozpin was going through different video feeds of the different groups moving through the forest. He came across the one that Ruby was in and saw that there were eight of them moving together. Glynda landed at the platform and walked up to Ozpin to see him smiling. "Something good happen?" She asked.

He showed her the video feed that he was watching. "Instead of moving as a team of two or four, they waited until they had all eight together before moving back. Not only that they are going back the way they came."

Glynda recognized Ruby as she looked up, not realizing that she was being watched. "I somehow doubt she came up with the idea."

"No, but she was willing to listen which seems to a skill that fewer and fewer people have."

"With a group that big they won't have any issue with the Grimm that you send to them."

Ozpin pulled out his scroll. "Professor Port, do you have any Grimm you can send over to the field in area J7?"

"Oh I do, in fact I have a death stalker and a nevermore both following me. Which one do you want me to send?"

Ozpin looked at the video feed. "Send them both over if you will."

"Both, oh those students are going to have a grand time with these."

"I'm sure they will. Please stay nearby just in case."

"Absolutely". Port said before hanging up. Ozpin put his scroll back and looked at the video feed.

"You are sending those two for those eight to deal with, it seems like a bit much?". Glynda said.

"Maybe, but I want to see how they react to this."

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

The group made it through the wooded area with meeting with only a few Grimm, at the edge of the wood line there was the field. While it was marked as a field it was a mixture of grassland and lightly rolling hills. There were still trees but unlike where they were the trees and bushed were far more spread out. Moving out of the trees they looked around but didn't see any Grimm on the ground or the sky.

"Its kind of weird that there is an open area like this out in a forest?" Blake said.

"It was probably cleared a long time ago to be used as farm land." Ruby said.

"Well whoever cleared it has my thanks. Now we are not getting stuck with having those tree branches hitting us.". Nora said with a smile.

Before anyone else could give their thoughts they could hear a screeching sound coming from the sky. The group ran to the nearest tree and used it to conceal themselves. Looking at the direction that the sound came they could see what looked like a crow off in the distance, immediately they knew it was a nevermore. As soon as the nevermore was visible a death stalker came out of the woods.

"Ren, can you use your semblance over all of us?" Jaune asked.

"Yes, and it is." Ren said.

Yang looked over at Jaune. "Are you thinking of just hiding from them?"

"No but we need a plan to fight them. Ren can buy us some time to figure something out." Jaune said.

"We need to break into two teams." Everyone turned to Weiss who hadn't said anything since she told them what her weapon could do. "Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora can go after the death stalker. You four can deal with a ground attack. Yang, Blake, Ruby and myself will take on the nevermore. Whichever team finishes first meet up with the other team."

Yang looked frustratingly over at Weiss. "Hold on, who put you in charge?".

"She's right" Pyrrha said.

Yang looked over at Pyrrha. "You're agreeing with her?"

"Yes. I'm guessing you were thinking the same thing Jaune?"

"Yeah. I'm useless against flying Grimm but I can hold off the death stalker while you three kill it. With you four you have a speed advantage that is best against the nevermore. If things get back we fall back to the wood line and have Ren mask us from the Grimm and I'll heal anyone injuries.". They looked as the nevermore had cleared the field and was circling back while the death stalker was slowly moving across the field. "We'll attack the death stalker first. Once we start the nevermore should come after us as well. Since it will be focused on us it won't be expecting an attack from you."

"Ok, we'll wait for you to attack the death stalker before we go." Weiss said.

Yang went over to Weiss. "Seriously, who put you in charge?"

Weiss looked at her, the only expression came from her crimson eyes, showing only her annoyance with Yang. "If you have a better plan then tell us.".

Yang looked at her. "Fine, but I get to come up with the next plan."

The first group was getting ready to move out from the tree, Ren looked at the four that were staying back. "Once we start moving away my semblance will not be able to conceal you, so stay calm."

"Ok, thanks and good luck." Ruby said.

With that Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren and Nora made their way across the field. They stayed close to Ren who was still concealing their presence from the Grimm. Once the got close to the death stalker Jaune ran into its head with his shield.

The death stalker, a giant black scorpion that had white bone protrusions that mainly covered its pincers, stinger and head. Hitting its head with his shield got its attention. The Grimm tried to grab Jaune but Ren and Pyrrha attacked its pincers, distracting it from Jaune. Using its stinger it tried stab Jaune but he was able to protect himself with his semblance.

With the Grimm distracted by the three of them, Nora ran towards the Grimm. Firing her weapon behind her it launched her into the air. She converted the grenade launcher into its hammer form she freefall and used gravity to help break the bone covering the Grimm's skull. The sheer force of her hit slammed the Grimm into the ground. Nora landed near one of the pincers, the other pincer had been taken off by Ren.

Before Nora could say anything the Grimm lifted itself up and failed its still attached pincer, being right by it Nora was flung across the field. Landing in the grass she didn't get up. "Nora" Ren yelled as he ran to her.

"Pyrrha, fall back." Jaune said. The two of them moved away from the death stalker. They looked over and saw Ren was by Nora. "Ren, get her to the tree, we'll finish off the Grimm." Ren didn't say anything but seeing him carry Nora off they at least knew he heard them.

"Ren has got Nora, what about us?" Pyrrha asked,

Jaune looked at the Grimm and could see that Nora had damaged its skull bone. "We hit the same spot that Nora hit just as she did. You can use your semblance to push off of me and get into the air. With the bone cracked you should be able to easily stab it with Milo. Once your airborne I'll hit it again to distract it."

Pyrrha smiled. "Ok, let's go for it.".

The two of them ran towards the Grimm but Jaune stopped and put his shield over his head. Once it was above Pyrrha ran and jumped on top but then immediately shot up into the air. Feeling Pyrrha pushing off of him Jaune went back to running towards the Grimm. Ramming the Grimm again it tried to attack Jaune but before it was able to Pyrrha drove her lance through the death stalker's head. As soon as it went through the Grimm started to turn to ask.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

As soon as the attack on the death stalker began the nevermore changed its direction and moved towards it. Seeing this the other four started running towards the nevermore. Unlike the attack that was conducted on the death stalker the assault on the nevermore was a success as well, but a disaster in its execution.

Weiss tried to get everyone to go with her plan but instead it devolved into a free-for-all on the nevermore. Ruby decided to use her semblance to get to the Grimm first and get the first hit but instead got hit by one of the nevermore's wings and launched towards the ground; Weiss used her glyphs to stop her from slamming into the dirt. Yang and Blake tried to get it to come after them while they were on the ground but instead the Grimm decided to dive towards them and use its claws to grab them before it hit the ground. Weiss just stood by, watching the free-for-all.

The Grimm went up in the air to get some distance before trying to attack again. Everyone else had regrouped under a tree. "So, can we try our plan?" Weiss asked.

"Fine princess, what is your great plan?" Yang said.

"I'll use my glyphs to get Yang above the nevermore while Ruby is below it. Well have Blake act as bait, she can use her semblance as decoys against the Grimm in case it gets too close to her. Once she has the Grimm following her we'll have it come to where Yang and Ruby are. Once it is in position Yang will hit it from above while Ruby uses her scythe from below, this should take off the Grimm's head. Once it is off I can catch you two with my glyphs."

"Ok, that is actually a pretty good plan except where Blake is the bait." Yang said.

"It's fine. Weiss is right." Blake said.

Ruby stood up. "Ok, let's get this Grimm before Jaune and his group take it out.".

Blake ran out and was able to get the Grimm's attention. Once the Grimm noticed her she ran away from the tree the others were at. Weiss and Yang ran out and once they say Blake turning around Weiss started to make glyphs that Yang jumped on top of, getting higher until she could see that she was above the nevermore. When Blake turned the nevermore did a loop in the air and started to dive towards her. Before the Grimm could grab Blake with its claws Yang freefalled onto the Grimm's head just as Ruby opened her scythe and had it against its neck. In an instant the nevermore's head came off.

Weiss caught Yang and Ruby with her glyphs and safely got them onto the ground. Once they were on the ground they met up with the other group. When they got there Jaune had already taken care of any injuries Nora had. Everyone else checked themselves to make sure they were ok, once everyone was checked they kept on moving towards the endpoint.

The rest of the movement was relatively quiet. They did come across a few more Grimm but they were small ones that they could easily deal with. When they arrived at the endpoint they were greeted by one of the instructors and given a quick check to make sure that they were ok. Once that was done they waited for a some more people to show up before a group of them were loaded onto a transport and flown back to the academy.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Once they arrived at the academy they went back to the hall and waited inside. People waited to be called with their partners to find out who would be part of their team. Weiss went and got her stuff and took it over to where Ruby was, once she had it over by here she sat in silence waiting to be called. Ruby tried to get Weiss to say something but in the end she sat and talked with her sister and Blake.

When Pyrrha came into the hall the other students were curious to see who her partner would be. She was the one person that all of the students wanted to be partnered with. The students were surprised to see that Jaune was the one that ended up being her partner.

It was early afternoon when Ruby and Weiss were called, Yang and Blake were called a few groups before them. Her sister didn't contact her on her scroll to let her know what her team name was or who else was part of it, guessing that she couldn't get a connection inside the hall. The two of them got up and went through a door and down a hall reaching another door. Someone in front of the door had them wait for a few minutes before letting them through. Going through the door they saw Ozpin sitting behind a desk as well as Yang and Blake being in the room.

"Congratulations to you four for completing the partner assessment. Starting today you four become a team that I look forward in seeing grow and become a source of hope for those who cannot face the Grimm and an inspiration for those who aspire to become huntsman themselves. The name for your team comes from the first letter of each of your names and the name I have chosen for you four is team RWBY. As for the leader of your team, I've picked Ruby to be the leader."

With that Ozpin got up and shook each of their hands. Once he was done walked them to the door which took them through a hall which at the end had a person who handed each of them a packet that had their room key and other information about the academy. Once they had their packet they went through the door and was outside the hall.

Once outside Yang dropped her stuff and gave her sister a hug. "I can't believe it. We're in the same team and you got picked as the team leader."

Ruby hugged her sister back. "I can't believe it but it did happen, right."

Blake nodded with a smile. "It did."

"Congratulations" was all that Weiss said.

Ruby found a rock and put her foot on top of it and pointed her hand towards the horizon. "Well my first decision as team leader is for us to get to our room."
