Seth and Sarah: Date?

Sarah sighed dreamily as she doodled in her notebook, completely ignoring the lesson that day in class. It wasn't like she needed to pay much attention anyway, she had already gone over the material the night before and knew it by heart. Therefore, it left her time to make the little drawings and doodles she was making in her notebook. And those doodles consisted of hearts, flowers, butterflies, and her name along with a certain someone else's. Of course, it didn't surprise her that doodling his name along with hers inside a heart with an arrow, for she had been doing it for a while now, though it was embarrassing.

Putting down her pen, she looked at the last heart she had made, the heart filling up most of the page with frilly lace decorating the edge, an arrow sticking out of the heart at an angle and beautifully written in the middle was 'Seth and Sarah'. Yes, she had a major crush on her best friend, her dad's friend, her Imprinter, Seth Clearwater.

The crush had started out small and thus was easy to ignore, particularly when her friends Anna and Kelsey teased her about it. But now she wasn't sure if she could keep the hearts out of her eyes whenever she looked at him now. Even so, a few problems fell into place with her situation. One: Seth was thirty now—a man—and she wouldn't turn seventeen for a few more months. She was still a teenager, but she was wise beyond her years and had been mistaken plenty of times for a grown woman already, something that seemed to come with the territory of being a Quileute wolf Shifter. So to others, they wouldn't bat an eyelash seeing them together, but the fact remained that those who knew them knew it wouldn't be right. Two: Seth, though he cared for her a lot, was only seeing her as her dad's child and his Imprint, not as a young woman and potential partner. She knew the Imprint would draw them closer together to get to that point, but considering who she was she knew it would never happen, that Seth was too respectful to her and her dad to cross that line. And three: a relationship between them that was more than it already was would never happen and thus, she was probably destined to end up with some guy that wasn't who she wanted, and Seth would find some other pretty chick that would take his attention and he'd fall for. Sure, he would still care for her and such, but he wouldn't bat an eyelash at her later. The thought of her situation made her sad and she closed her notebook with a sigh. She really liked Seth, she really did, but perhaps they weren't written in the stars to be together, no matter what the Quileute gods thought.

The bell ringing signaling the end of class and the school day altogether startled her out of her brooding, her chocolate brown eyes going wide before blinking at the board. As the teacher spoke about their homework assignment for the weekend, Sarah wrote it down in her planner before packing her things in her bookbag and standing from her desk. Walking out the door, she found Kelsey and Anna waiting for her, the two of them in the same class next to hers. Smiling at them, she greeted them as they did the same, and the three of them walked towards the exit of the school, ready for the weekend.

As they walked, Kelsey looked a little further ahead of them and said, "Uh-oh, playboy at one o' clock."

Anna sighed and asked rhetorically, "He's never going to give up, is he?"

Sarah followed their gaze and they landed on La Push High's resident playboy Kendall Davidson casually leaning against the wall, obviously waiting on someone. And that someone was unfortunately her. Kendall was a handsome guy with wavy black hair and dark, smoldering eyes, a nicely chiseled jawline and a charming smile with a body most girls would fawn over. He knew he was hot and hadn't made it a secret that he was into Sarah, but his only problem about her was that he couldn't get her. Many people knew, just like her and her friends, that he really only wanted to get into her pants while others genuinely believed he really liked her and wanted to date her. However, if the long list of heartbroken girls regretting giving themselves to him he had left behind said anything, Sarah knew what he wanted from her, and she wasn't going to give to him.

Seeing her approach closer, Kendall stood up off the wall and walked over to Sarah and her friends, flashing them his most charming smile as he greeted, "Hi Sarah, Hello ladies."

"Piss off," Anna said with a glare.

"What do you want?" Kelsey asked with narrowed eyes.

"Hey, no reason to be rude. I was just giving a greeting. That…" his eyes drifted back to Sarah. "…and I wanted to walk Sarah home."

Sarah rolled her eyes and brushed past him saying, "No need, I can walk by myself."

Kendall, not willing to give up, walked after the pretty girl and her friends and said, "Then at least let me carry your bookbag for you."

"No."

"What about a movie? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to go see a movie with me."

"I don't want to see a movie or do anything remotely in the ways of a date with you, Kendall."

They stepped outside into the afternoon sun, Sarah heading down the stairs and bidding Anna and Kelsey 'goodbye' for the time being, ready to start her trek home. However, she was stopped with Kendall moving in front of her, blocking her path. Looking up at him she asked, exasperated, "What is it, Kendall?"

Looking her over, he looked back up at her face, taking in how beautiful she was and how her chocolate brown eyes were glittering brightly with life, though that light had dimmed now. He knew Sarah Black didn't like him, didn't care for him at all, but he really did like her. He had no ulterior motives against her, but his track record didn't make a case for him. Originally, he had only wanted into her pants, to finally say that he had bagged Sarah Black while claiming she was hard to get, but now he just genuinely wanted her. He believed he could change his playboy ways for her, but only if she gave him a chance. And unfortunately for him, Sarah wasn't interested and never had been for as long as he'd known her. Even her friends Anna and Kelsey had been interested in him at one point, but her, never. But he wasn't going to give up, not unless she gave him a good reason that he couldn't fight against.

Placing his hands on her shoulders and ignoring how she tensed up and her jaw clenched, Kendall looked into Sarah's eyes and said, "Look Sarah, I really want to take you out on a date. I just want to treat you somewhere nice and we have a good time. Is that too much to ask?"

Sarah pursed her lips and asked in return, "And is it so hard to understand that I don't want, nor have I ever wanted to go on a date with you? Look Kendall, I'm sure in some aspect you're a great guy. And who knows? You might actually be genuine this time around, but the fact remains that a date between us is never going to happen because I don't like you."

"Why? Is there some other dude that you're interested in?"

Not expecting to be asked that question, Sarah suddenly became flustered and looked away before walking past him saying, "None of your business."

Kendall frowned, reaching out a hand and grabbing her by her arm to stop her. "There is, isn't there? Well, who is it?"

"Kendall, let go of me," Sarah said, jerking her arms away from him, though Kendall tightened his grip on her arm when she couldn't get it loose. Glaring at him, she said, "Let me go right now or I will make you."

"Who is this dude that you're into? What makes him so special that you won't go out with me?" Kendall demanded, his grip tightening on her arm further. Their little argument was drawing the attention of others, making the situation more uncomfortable for Sarah and making her angry with Kendall for putting her in this situation.

Before Sarah could answer or make him release her, a black car pulled up next to them and stopped. The window rolled down and the face of Seth Clearwater looked at them, his eyebrow raised while harboring an intense look in his eyes. Happy to see him Sarah exclaimed, "Seth!"

"What's going on?" Seth asked, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the boy's hand on his Imprint's arm.

Kendall, not knowing who this guy was, sneered at him and said, "Back off, man. It's none of your business, so leave us alone."

Seth looked him over once, taking in how he was trying to make himself look tough and how he seemed to act possessive over Sarah before saying, "You must be this Kendall that Sarah complains about to me. How about you let her go before I make you do it?"

"And what are you going to do if I don't?"

Sarah's eyes widened at that before turning to look back at Seth. Seth's jaw clenched before he put the car in park and got out of it. As he did, Kendall's face visibly paled as he took in the height that Seth had on him, as well as the bunching muscles he had. This dude was ripped! And Sarah knew him personally?! Seth walked up to Kendall and grabbed him by his shirt, jerking him forward and lifting him off the ground, causing him to release his hold on Sarah. With a growl in his voice he said, "Don't worry about what I'll do, just know that I'll do it. And you won't make eye-contact or even speak to Sarah again. You'll leave her alone for good or you'll have to deal with me. And trust me, I have no qualms about putting you in your place. Do I make myself clear?"

Kendall's eyes had widened drastically, and he nodded quickly, completely afraid of this man. And the protective yet pissed off look in his eye indicated to him that this Seth was probably Sarah's boyfriend or something. Seth took in his scared expression before dropping him to the ground, watching as he scrambled to his feet and ran away to his car, not looking back once. Once he was gone, Seth looked at Sarah and asked, "Are you okay?"

Smiling up at him, Sarah answered, "Yes, I'm okay."

"Sorry I couldn't get here earlier. Leah asked me to help with Elizabeth while Sam went to go get her more diapers."

"It's okay. I'm just glad you showed up when you did." Sarah hugged Seth, sinking into his embrace as her stomach fluttered with butterflies. She always felt so safe in Seth's arms, like nothing could ever hurt her; they felt like home.

Seth held her longer before suggesting they get her home. Climbing into his car, Sarah buckled up as Seth put the car back in drive, driving away from the high school to the Black house. However, it wasn't her home as Seth told her that Billy had asked him to bring her to visit for the afternoon. Always happy to see her grandfather, Sarah grinned and nodded, her bright smile making Seth smile as well. As they went along, Sarah couldn't help but imagine what a date with Seth would be like. She didn't want to go on with Kendall—and thankfully he'd never ask her again unless he wanted to face Seth's wrath—but she wanted to go on one with the man in the seat next to her. But like she already knew, it wouldn't happen. Besides, what were the chances that Seth had the same feelings for her that she did him?

Soon they pulled up in front of the little red house that was the original Black family home, Sarah taking notice that her dad's car was parked next to her grandfather's truck. Her dad worked his garage business out of his garage, so she wasn't surprised to see it there, but she was surprised to see her mom's car there as well. It looked like Billy wanted a visit from the whole family. Unbuckling herself, Sarah grabbed the strap of her bookbag and looked at Seth. Smiling softly she said, "Thanks Seth. I'll see you later?"

Nodding Seth said, "Yeah. Actually, I was wondering if you're free tomorrow afternoon."

"Oh, you want to hang out?"

"Well, I was thinking that I could take you out."

Chocolate brown eyes widened, and her heart began to race in her chest. "Like…like a date?"

Seth chuckled. "Not like a date, but a date."

"A date?" Sarah couldn't believe this. Was her dream really coming true? Was her crush and the man of her dreams really asking her on a date?

"I already ran it by Jake and Bella and they're okay with it. So, if you want, I would like to take you on a date tomorrow. But if not, it's okay. We can j-"

"Yes!" Sarah shouted, startling Seth and causing him to jump. Blinking from her sudden outburst, Sarah blushed and cleared her throat before saying calmer, "I mean, yes, I would like that."

"Okay then." Seth couldn't help but laugh, though he too—like Sarah—was very happy with her answer. He was fond of Sarah, always had been since Imprinting on her, but as she got older, he found himself becoming fond of her in a different way and it didn't take him long to realize that he liked her in a romantic sense. Of course, with him being fifteen years older, he knew that it wouldn't due him any good to begin pursuing anything with her, especially without the consent of her father who he still respected, even if Jacob was his friend. And he knew Imprinting on Jacob's daughter and dating her were two different things, and thus he had talked to him about it. Luckily, Jacob was fine with the idea of him taking Sarah out and said he wouldn't choose anyone else for his daughter, giving him his blessing. Taking her hand in his large one, he gave it a squeeze before saying, "I'll see you later, Sarah."

"Bye," Sarah said with a grin before climbing out of the car. Throwing her bookbag on her shoulder, she waved after the Shifter as he drove away out of sight. Once he was gone, Sarah let out a happy, excited scream before rushing up the porch steps and into Billy's house. She found her grandfather in the living room with J.J. seated on his lap, and her parents sitting on the couch. Locking eyes with her father, she dropped her bookbag and ran towards him, launching herself into his arms in a tight hug, causing him to fall back into the couch.

Surprised by her action, Jacob caught her and groaned out in surprise, "Sarah!"

"Thank you, daddy! Thank you!" Sarah exclaimed, hugging him tighter and planting a kiss on his cheek.

Jacob returned his daughter's hug, looking at his father and wife, smiling as they silently laughed at the scene. They all knew why Sarah was so happy, and they were happy that she was. For Sarah, a dream of hers was coming true and it was all thanks to the first man in her life, her father.
