Short, fluffy(I hope) one-shot. Set after Annabeth returns from her family emergency in Boston in TOA THO.

When Annabeth finally stepped out of the cab and into the chilly Manhattan night, it was past three in the morning. She was sure they would all be asleep by now, but staring outside the apartment building, she could see warm light coming out of one room in particular.

She pursed her lips and quickly got up to the apartment, getting her temporary set of keys (courtesy of Sally for whenever Annabeth wanted to visit) and unlocked the door as quietly as she could. Normally, Annabeth wouldn't condone herself a house call this late in the night, and she wouldn't even need it if Percy was with her, but she had been away to Boston the past few weeks, and the gods knew how much she missed him. As long as she kept the noise down, she was sure Sally wouldn't mind the company. She pushed the door open silently, and was greeted with a beautiful sight of a sleeping boy.

Percy was seated cross-legged in front of the couch; the coffee table was covered with heaps of his test material, roughly sorted into what Annabeth would guess were two piles. A mug with dark coffee stains on its inside was placed perilously close to the edge. He had a pen still in his hand, but his other arm laid slack on the table for his head to rest on, and his shoulders moved in rhythm to his soft snoring.

Annabeth pursed her lips to keep from laughing, but she couldn't help the warm feeling that was spreading through her body. It was pure relief pumping through her veins, knowing that nothing had gone wrong while she was away. Of course, she made Percy promise he wouldn't get in trouble, or get himself killed, or get involved in another Great Prophecy. But then again, it wasn't his call to get involved the first two times. And it definitely wasn't his call to be shot over the continental US with his memories gone for 8 months (looking at you, Queen Hera).

To come back to find this boy trying (his best, she hoped) to study for his midterms - such a normal thing to worry about for once, was just a wonderful sight to behold. It melted away the weeks of stress she hadn't realised she was carrying on her shoulders.

She tiptoed over to where he sat and kneeled beside him, pushing his mug away from the edge, then taking the pen from his hand and placing it on top of his open notes. There was a post-it stuck to the table beside it.

Annabeth bit her lip to keep from making a sound, but she was just so amused with the little hearts that Percy had drawn all over her nickname, like he had probably gotten bored when doing his work and started doodling instead.

She glanced quickly at the clock, realising how late it really was. She didn't want to wake him up, but she did want him to sleep on his bed instead of this uncomfortable position, and she couldn't move him on her own. Hesitantly, she placed a hand on Percy's head, her fingers moving automatically to brush through his hair.

"Percy," she started softly. "Percy, wake up."

It took a while, but eventually he began to stir. Annabeth took his hand as he got up and they starting heading back to his bedroom, while he mumbled incoherently the whole way, occasionally stumbling over his feet and the carpeted floor.

When she finally - finally, got him into his bed, he wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her down with him. She clamped her mouth shut to keep from making any noise, then twists in his embrace to face him.

His eyes were barely open at this point, and she was not surprised if he was already slipping into unconsciousness. But he just looked so cute like that; she leaned upwards to press a soft kiss on his nose.

He sighed quietly before pressing his face to the top of her head, inhaling deeply. "I missed you so much," he mumbled to her curls. "I missed you every second you were gone."

She reached her hand upwards to touch the side of his face. Under her fingertips she could feel just a light stubble forming after his days of cramming for his midterms and she smiled. "I missed you too. Now go to sleep, Seaweed Brain."

Percy smiled, his eyes closed now. "I love you."

He promptly worked up his snore again. Annabeth leaned closer into his chest and felt herself relax and start to drift off.

Except Percy jerked awake again. "Annabeth," he said huskily. "I need your help for math tomorrow, okay?"

Annabeth smiled. She nodded and listened as Percy's heartbeat settled into a slumbering rhythm. Then she too began to settle into a slumber. Tomorrow she would help her boyfriend with a very normal kind of problem for once. And she couldn't wait.
