Chapter 5 Kuchinashi

Ren's POV

Since we had nowhere else to go, Nora and I took to the streets.

We would travel from town to town, and we would have to either steal food or take it from the trash. At least every once in a while somebody would be kind enough to give us some food.

This went on for three years...until fate finally decided to be kind to us.

It was on the day Nora now refers to as 'a crazy Thursday.' We were currently in a city named Kuchinashi and right in the middle of a lighting storm we were trying to get out of.

I was currently holding onto Nora's hand as I led her through the storm, though it was hard for me to see where I was going with all the heavy rain.

"Don't worry Nora", I reassured her. "I'll find us a way out of here soo..."

"Ren", Nora yelled before suddenly pushing me to the ground.

I didn't realise why, until...she was hit by lightning!

All I could do was stare in horror and watch as she fell to the ground unconscious.

"Nora", I yelled out.

Then...I ran up to her and cradled her in my arms.

"Nora", I cried out as tears began to fall from my eyes. "Oh please no. Please wake up Nora! Please don't leave me!"

After I yelled this, as if some miracle had graced me, Nora opened her eyes!

"Ren", she breathed out when she saw me.

"Nora", I said in relief.

Then, I hugged her.

"You're okay", I pointed out before breaking the hug. "How are you okay?"

"I don't know", Nora replied.

"Nora", I started when I noticed something. "Look at your skin."

Nora did as told, and found that...her skin was covered with weird, glowing markings.

"That in the name of Remnant is going on here", she yelled out in shock. "Why am I glowing?"

"I don't know", I replied before getting up and pulling Nora onto her feet as well. "But that's going to have to wait. We need to get out of here."

"Right", Nora agreed.

However, before we could leave...a Grim appeared...and it charged right for us!

"Nora", I yelled. "Watch out!"

Then...I pushed Nora out of the way...and was thrown back by the Grim!

"Ren", I heard Nora yell out.

Then...I opened my eyes...and saw the Grim heading for me!

Before it could get to me however...Nora stood in front of me with her hammer in hand.

"Back off", she commanded.

Then...she hit the Grim right in the skull with her hammer...and it turned to dust!

"Nora", I breathed out in awe.

"What the", Nora said in shock. "Did I just do that?"

"I don't know", I replied as I got up. "But we'll deal with it later, let's get out of here."
