RWMtB: Ever After

Sam and Leah: Emily

Sam Uley smiled down at his fiancé as she slept, napping while she could while their own baby, a daughter named Elizabeth, was napping as well. It had been a long road that he and his fiancé had gone on, a road full of pain, heartbreak, betrayal, the whole nine yards. But in the end, they had gotten through it on the other side and found their way back together again. Now they were happy, they were in love, they were soon to be married, and they had a child together. There were days when he wondered how Leah could have ever forgiven him for all that he had put her through, especially with his Imprinting on her cousin being the breaking point, but she had and they had moved on. Besides, his Imprint with said cousin was broken and they were likely to never see her again. That, and Leah didn't like talking about it and it wasn't something he preferred to dwell on either.

He looked from where Leah was napping on their bed to the crib where little Elizabeth was also napping. He chucked softly when she yawned and smacked her lips in her sleep before settling down again. Little Beth (Beth being what he called her) was the apple of his eye and he absolutely adored her, just as much as he adored her mother.

A knock on the front door got his attention, and he silently left the bedroom to go and answer it. Grabbing the doorknob, he turned it and opened the door, his eyes widening in surprise at who was standing on the other side.

"Emily?" Sam couldn't help but say, shock evident in his voice.

Emily smiled up at Sam before wrapping her arms around him, hugging him closely saying, "Oh Sam, how I've missed you! I'm so happy to see you again after all these years. Though I am surprised to know you're living here in Forks and not on the Reservation."

Pushing Emily away, forcing her to release him, he frowned down at her before asking, "What are you doing here? And how did you know I was here?"

"Oh, I just simply asked Paul. He was very irritated when he saw me and wasn't going to tell me, but you know Paul. Get him angry enough and he'll accidently spill whatever secret he's keeping." Emily then looked seductively at her former lover and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Sam, I want us to get back together. What do you say?"

"After what you did to Leah? Absolutely not." Sam wrenched her arms out from around his neck, glaring down at her. "Don't think you're welcome here or that you have any right to try and get me back. I should've never agreed to be with you the way I was before in the first place. It would have saved both Leah and I all the heartbreak we went through years ago."

Emily scowled and crossed her arms. "You're still hung up on Leah? My cousin wants nothing to do with you, Sam. You burned those bridges with her, so why bother continuing to pine after her?"

"Because I love her, Emily; I've always loved her. And I'm not pining after her anymore."

"Oh! Then we can get back together now." Emily reached up to kiss the man, only for his large hand to completely cover her face.

"No, we can't. I'm not pining after Leah anymore because I've already got her. We're engaged now and are living together here. We're very happy and we don't need you intruding on our space or in our lives. You're lucky I didn't report you for attempted murder all those years ago."

Emily's eyes widened in shock at Sam's words. He was living with Leah? He was engaged to Leah?! Hearing this made her blood boil. Damn Leah, just damn her! She had always been jealous of Leah and her natural beauty, even jealous of the boyfriend she hadn't met. But then Leah had finally introduced her to Sam, and then Sam Imprinted on her. It was finally her chance to have what Leah had, and so she took Sam as her lover. Of course, she hadn't expected all the hell that came with it, but it had been worth it to her. The one thing her cousin wanted most, she finally had and nothing was going to change that, especially because of the Imprint bond. But then the bond started to wane and Sam's feelings for Leah resurfaced and he started pursuing her again. It had made her so angry that she figured the only way to fully have Sam was to get rid of Leah, and so she had run her over with her truck. But all it had done was finish breaking the bond and drive Sam right back into her cousin's arms. And now Leah was living the happily ever after she was supposed to have.

Her face turning red and her shaking with fury, Emily began to shout. "Leah, Leah, Leah! Why is always Leah?! What makes her so special! I'm your Imprint, Sam! I'm supposed to be first in your life! Me! You're supposed to love me!"

Sam glared harder at Emily and his large, imposing presence seemed to grow larger in his anger. "No, I'm not. I've never really loved you, Emily. I cared for you because of the Imprint, yes, but I didn't love you. My heart always belonged to Leah, even when I tried to fight it to stay loyal to you. But as you can see, all the Imprint did was make everything worse. I was happy that you left, but you had put Leah in a coma for six long years. I will never forgive you for that. Now stop spouting this nonsense and leave. Don't come back and bother me and my family again."

"But Sam, you'll never have a family with Leah. She's barren, remember? I can give you children! I'm fertile, she's not! We can be happy together again, I know we can!" Emily was desperate to make Sam see sense. She had to make him believe that she was the one for him, not Leah. And she knew she could by mentioning the one thing she could give him that Leah could never: children.

"Are you sure about that, you stupid bitch?" Leah's voice suddenly spoke from behind Sam.

Leah had been woken up by the sound of Emily shouting, surprised at hearing her voice after so many years. However, surprise quickly changed to anger when she heard her despicable cousin trying to get her fiancé back. She wanted to go and pummel her into the ground but didn't because the shouting had also woken Elizabeth. Her daughter was whimpering and about to cry from being disturbed, but Leah had gotten her and calmed her down before carrying her out of the bedroom to confront Emily.

Sam turned to look at Leah, his fiancé standing holding Beth with a very pissed off expression on her face as she looked past him to the woman that ruined both of their lives. Stepping up to her next to Sam, Leah hissed, "You have some nerve showing your face around here when no one, no one, wants you here. And for you to say what you did just now just shows me that the girl that I once considered my sister doesn't exist anymore, if she ever did. Now, if you know what is good for you, get your ass away from our front door, leave us the hell alone, go back to the Makah Res or wherever it is you plan on going, and don't come back. Because if you do, it'll be you and me, understand that?"

Emily had never been so afraid as she was in that moment staring into Leah's eyes. It was obvious to her that Leah meant her threat towards her. Not only that, but her last hope of winning Sam back was dashed. Leah was a mother now, the mother of Sam's child. Her dream of being married to Sam, having a baby, and starting a family despite all that she had done, was over. Tears filling her eyes, Emily spat at the couple that she hated them and ran away from their front door, all the way back to her truck. Sam and Leah watched her get in and drive away until she was out of sight.

As Sam closed the door, he smiled at Leah and said, "I wouldn't have taken her back for any reason. I only want and love you."

Leah grinned up at him and kissed him before saying, "I know, and I only want and love you, too."

Sam grinned and kissed his fiancé once more before gently taking Beth from her, holding his daughter close before suggesting they go finish their naps and he would join them. They went to their bedroom and settled on their bed, Beth settled between them, and they soon all fell into a peaceful slumber, content to take their nap without any more disturbances.
