RWMtB: Ever After
Bella and Sarah: Spa Day
Bella sighed in bliss as the masseuse massaged the muscles in her back, releasing tension that she hadn't fully been aware of having. It had been a long time since she had gone for a massage or had a spa day. If she remembered correctly, the last time she had had one, it had been before moving to Forks for the first time. Renee had suggested they do some mother-daughter bonding and had taken her to the spa. It had been…nice, for the most part and she appreciated her mother's outing. And now here she was doing it once again with her own daughter.
Thinking of her daughter, Bella opened her eyes and looked towards where Sarah was getting her own back massaged by her own masseuse. She couldn't help but laugh when it seemed like Sarah was on the verge of falling asleep from her massage. Deciding to make sure her daughter didn't fall asleep on the table, Bella called out, "Sarah."
Chocolate brown eyes like her own shot open and Sarah said in a somewhat groggy voice, "I'm not asleep."
"Uh-huh. Honey, stay awake. We're going into the sauna after these massages and you can't fall asleep in there."
Sarah looked at her mom with an amused expression. "Mom, you know I can take heat pretty well."
It was true. With Sarah being a wolf Shifter like her father, heat was nothing to the teenager. Bella rolled her eyes and rested her chin on her hands mumbling, "You're just like your father."
Giggling, Sarah said, "Maybe, but dad says I get my reckless side from you."
"I'm not reckless. Clumsy, maybe, but not reckless."
"Whatever you say, mom."
The two of them couldn't help but giggle, knowing the words held some truth to them. As their massages continued Sarah couldn't help but ask, "So what made you want to have a spa day with me?"
Bella looked at her daughter with a raised eyebrow. "Why wouldn't I?"
"You've never done it before."
"I just thought it'd be good for us to relax and spend some quality time together. You know, do things we weren't able to do before back when…"
Bella trailed off, but she didn't need to finish. Both her and Sarah knew what she was thinking about. She meant back when they were living with the Cullens and under Edward's watchful eye. Life had been hell for Bella while living with them, and not much fun for Sarah either. And it seemed by the skin of their teeth they were able to escape and live the life they had now.
Reaching over to take her mother's hand, Sarah smiled and said, "It's all in the past now, mom. We're finally happy now and living the life we always wanted. And we've got dad and J.J. and grandpa Charlie and Billy, and grandma Renee, and everyone else on the Reservation. We're fine now and safe, and no matter what dad will always be there to protect you."
Smiling, Bella gave her daughter's hand a squeeze before saying, "Thank you, honey. And he's also there to protect you as well. Not only him, but Seth too. Speaking of which, how are things going between you two?"
Blushing, Sarah mumbled, "They're fine."
"Really? Anything you want to share with your mom?" Bella teased.
"No."
"Really? Not even a possible kiss he may have given you? You two have already been on ten dates already."
She was met with silence as her answer. Bella would have left it alone had Sarah's already red face had not turned redder than it already had. With wide eyes, Bella halfway sat up and asked, "Sarah, has Seth kissed you?"
Sarah still refused to answer, completely avoiding eye contact by this point. In a shocked voice, Bella said, "My baby has had her first kiss."
"It's not that big of a deal, mom," Sarah replied, finally turning to look at her mother.
"You're right, it's not. But it will be when your father finds out."
Groaning, Sarah put her face in the soft pillow while her mother laughed next to her. The next time her mom mentioned a spa day, she made a mental note to decline. Seeing as this one turned into her mom finding out her secret, she had a feeling the next one would involve her mother making her completely spill her guts. And it would be even worse if she invited her grandmother along as well. Deciding to just go back to enjoying the massage, Sarah shook her head and told her mother not to tell her father until she was ready to tell him herself. Bella agreed with an amused smile before doing like her daughter and continued to enjoy their little spa day.
Pretty soon, their massages were over and they were putting on their robes and heading to the sauna. As they walked, Bella suddenly said, "I wonder how your father and J.J. are doing."
Sarah snickered and replied, "Probably fine, or dad has already called for help."
Bella laughed along with her daughter, knowing it was probably true. She knew her husband could handle their son for a few hours while she was with their daughter, but also knew he would be wanting help soon. As soon as she and Sarah were done with their spa day, she'd return to his rescue. Shaking her head in amusement at the thought, Bella opened the door to the sauna and followed Sarah inside, intent on continuing to enjoy herself.
