Kate finally had a few moments alone to call Sara after briefing her team for the upcoming transplant. She stretched her back out while the phone was ringing on speaker.
"Hey baby!" Sara exclaimed.
"Ugh… ouch. Sorry, Hey hon" Kate straightened her back and sat down abruptly after a head rush.
"You okay?" Sara asked suspiciously.
"Yeah sorry, just kinked my back after stretching… damn"
"Oh no… you sure you're alright?"
"I'm fine babe, really"
"Come home already so I can give you a nice back rub!"
"Um…Sar, I… something came up and…"
"What is it this time?" Sara sighed.
"I'm sorry…. It's a heart transplant"
"Can't somebody else do it?"
"Babe, I've been with this kid through it all, right from the start. I really want to do it"
"You must be exhausted though!"
"I'm good. There's a couple of hours before the heart arrives. I'm sending a resident to do the procurement. I'll have a bit of time to relax and recharge"
"Oh wow, what an hour?" Sara bit sarcastically.
"Sara please, I really don't want to fight about this. I'll be home as soon as I can"
"Kate I just want you to take care of yourself please. Get something to eat, try and take a nap"
"I will, I promise"
Sara sighed. "I love you… I miss you"
"Me too angel. I'll be home before you know it. I'm off tomorrow"
"Yeah well, technically you're off tonight too"
"Give Amelia a kiss from me" said Kate ignoring Sara's sulking.
"Good luck Kate. See you in the morning… I hope"
"Hopefully I'll be there before you wake up. I'll even make breakfast"
"Ha, you'll sleep that's what you'll do"
Kate just laughed.
"I need to run love. Amelia is wreaking havoc"
"Okay, love you baby" Kate said and smiled.
"Love you too. Good luck in surgery"
